166 Mike2 new Leader of the Devoted and Mikey still can't make the Grade!

166 Mike2 new Leader of the Devoted and Mikey still can't make the Grade!

Episode Summary

Episode 166 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast finds Mike Szczevankewicz and Mike Palmer lighting up the Aganorsa Rare Leaf Toro — a Nicaraguan Jalapa-grown café-colored wrapper over a double Corojo '98 binder from two farms with mostly Nicaraguan filler — ahead of a deeper breakdown on the Patreon secret show. They compare the Toro to the bigger Titan 6x60 in the same line and talk about why they pay for every cigar they review.

The first half is classic Mike & Mike banter: a lengthy (spoiler-heavy) dissection of the Zack Snyder four-hour Justice League cut, bed-making grades via text from Mike 2's wife, and the strategic superiority of sending flowers to your spouse's workplace. The big reveal is Mike 2's new Powstanie tattoo — larger than the others in the fan group known as "the devoted" — which crowns him leader of the devoted and earns him a box of cigars from Mike Palmer. He also sports a Florida Cigar Club piece on the other arm.

The news block covers United Cigars' new Stadium Series launching with the Asylum Green Monsta, a Fenway Park tribute with an Ecuadorian Candela wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Estelí/Jalapa fillers in 6x60 and 7x70 sizes limited to 250 boxes of nine. They also cover Michigan cigar lounges reopening March 22 after a six-week closure under new ventilation requirements, Montana's HB 285 cigar bar bill being tabled in a Senate committee after health-lobby testimony, Drew Estate's Liga Privada Year of the Ox released exclusively for China at $170 per box of eight, and the new Payne Mason/Garrison Brothers Distillery bourbon-infused cigar line — which sparks a tangent about the Pappy Van Winkle collaboration Mike Palmer threw out a car window.

The show closes with Florida news (a Pensacola assistant principal and her daughter arrested for rigging homecoming queen votes, plus an Arapaima found in the Caloosahatchee River), a welcome to a new listener in the Seychelles, and Listener of the Week honors for Adam Acri on his birthday.

Welcome to episode 166 of a Cigar Hustler podcast, featuring the king, Michael. It's his eye. My arm's a really big step on Kevich. It's his eye.

And then I just run the board and do everything you said. Yes. The jester. The jester, the hand of the king, the man who knows where everything is.

The hand of the king. The hand of the king. Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike. All right.

Hold on, I'm missing a page. Yeah? Should be right here, I hope. This episode's brought to you by...

This is where I tell you to please like and subscribe to us on every avenue possible, especially YouTube. Mike Palmer has a beautiful face, and it needs to be seen. I got new glasses, too. He's got new glasses, you gotta check 'em out.

The other ones are very bulky, and they kept hitting the microphone. So if you could subscribe to that, that'd be great. There you go. And if you could like our videos and stuff.

We're trying to build that. We're really working hard on that. So, you know, if you could help us with that. What do we got for the Patreon review?

'Cause I'm ready to smoke. Today we're doing the Rare Leaf by Argonosa. With the Toro. Yes, the Toro.

It uses a cafe-colored wrapper, leaf grown in Nicaragua, Jalapa region, a double binder of Correo 98 tobacos from two different farms. Yep. And a filler that is mostly Nicaraguan, maybe some other stuff. Some of it's Nica.

Grown in Correo 98, with a bit of Correo 99 as well. No one really knows. But, you know, it's here now. It's here now.

We had the big one, the Gordo, whatever the hell he called it. The Gigante or whatever it was. The big one. The Kamehameha, and the Toro.

That was the Titan. The Titan. The 6x60 Titan. Bring me a Titan.

Yes. I'll just take the Toro. Yeah. Yeah.

I like the Robusto. Usually the Robusto is something that... " But you know what, it's cool because this will probably last me a little bit longer through the podcast than into the Patreon, so I like where your head was at, Mike. I don't know where your head was at, Mike.

I saved that, because we have not paid for those. We're very wise. We will pay for them, though. We do pay.

Don't worry. None of the cigars used in the Patriot are free, unfortunately. Unless we steal them. And then at that point, they're free.

But, majority of the time. We pay. We always pay. We always pay.

Sadly. We have tiny bits of money. We have tiny bits of money. Tiny bits of money.

And we use it towards your benefit. Yes. Let you know exactly what's going on in the industry. We'll give you our, our opinions.

Where's your glass? That company doesn't sponsor us. I know. I forgot my cup.

Oh, I forgot my cup. I'm very sorry. I have one here for all occasions. Yeah.

It's like, I don't know what happens with me. Every once in a while, I have an off Monday. Yeah. You did seem off today.

I told you. You seemed like something was wrong. You said it's because you ate potatoes. I ate potatoes.

Well, no. The queen does not allow potatoes in the castle. Oh, really? She doesn't like potatoes.

Well, the queen makes some potatoes. So I told her, I said, hey listen. No, no, not your queen, the queen of England. Oh, really?

She does not like, I don't know why that's always stuck in my head. " Well, that's probably because it's, you know, like potatoes is... Irish thing to her, I would imagine. I don't know, I think it's like anything, like anything that's really kind of high in carbohydrates is probably...

I don't think the queen wears a better carbohydrates. No, that's not what I'm talking about, Mike. But if you let me fucking finish, I'd explain it to you. " There's so many carbs today.

Potatoes, rice, stuff like that. Even pizza is considered like stuff. I feel she doesn't eat a lot of pizza. I'm just done talking about it now.

I'm just done talking about it now. Done talking. To you. You're a waste of space.

I watched a Jessica Lee's movie this weekend. The big one. The big one. The four-hour commitment.

You did a Facebook post. You were freaking out. I was freaking out. It's the same movie.

On the trailers, they showed footage that wasn't in the original movie. The original movie. I died laughing when you were freaking out. I fucking fell out of my chair.

And like they showed the Joker, they showed the Green Hero. Yeah, because he's in there more now. No, not really. Oh, he's not.

Not really. So basically, it's the same movie. But it's four hours long. It's four hours long.

And apparently what I found out from my Facebook post is the original director's daughter committed suicide during the filming of the movie. And he was not able to finish. He backed out of the project. Yeah, I don't blame him.

Yeah, you know what I mean? He gets a pass for that. Son of a bitch, man, that's tough. Yeah, that's tough.

And I'm, oh, my daughter just killed herself. Batman's got too much makeup on. Yeah, but, yeah. Yeah, I think the more important thing.

Fuck your movie. Right. I'm out. I've got things to do at home.

Right. So another guy stepped in and shot the movie. Right. So evidently his vision of the movie was not the same as the other original guy's vision.

So I don't think they re-shot anything, but he re-edited. He re-did the special effects. Right. And suddenly the movie is twice as long.

Yeah. At the end, is our hero on a boat and is Jack freezing next to him? Yes. And he kicks him on the boat and he falls in the water, right?

No. Spoiler alert, because we are going to discuss some of the details of the- Did he take the heart of the diamond and kick it in the water at the end? Batman did. Yeah.

Yeah. That's good. Right. Yeah.

So- I knew it. I knew it. Completely different ending to the movie. Yeah.

But the Joker thing that they show in the trailer- Yeah. Very small part, but it's a dream Batman has at the end. Oh. Oh God.

Right. And the part with the Green Lantern guy? Yeah. Not really in it.

Is it Ryan Reynolds? No, no, no. It's another... They got the outfit on, but you know, like in the Ryan Reynolds movie, there's all the other...

Yeah, there's a bunch of the Green Lantern things. Evidently, I didn't notice it, but there's some scene where they show a dead one laying there, and I think the guy at the end, which they showed once or twice in the movie, is in the alien... alien what they call alien bounty hunter or something i think he might be a green lantern guy he sort of pops up two seconds at the end of the movie introduces himself to batman and says there's trouble coming we all have to work together they call me the green martian bounty hunter or something like that then he flies away green martian bounty hunter right but the special effects i do like the new guy's vision better let's just say it probably was better it was shot well yeah like it's like finding a last minute fighter you know what i mean like hey this guy this guy can't do it he broke his ankle right yeah can you step in the guy's like yeah four days and no training sure what the fuck okay i'll get clobbered and that's pretty much what happened the guy got right instead of i mean the right move would have been postponing the whole fucking thing why didn't they just say hey probably too much money involved in the movie whatever man at the end of the day but look but it's a business they had to it's a business but the but the long game here whenever something dc comes out at this point everybody's like Yeah, because the first one was so bad, I thought it would be like a sequel, like, okay, now they're going to fight, now they're fighting the Joker or whatever the hell it was. See, I told you.

I mean, they did add Doomsday or Doomsayer or some other bad guy, but he's barely in it, too. It's still the Steppenwolf guy, but now he has a flashy suit of armor that when he flexes, it brink, little points pop up and stuff. That's cool. Yeah, but that's how it should have been done.

Flash saves the day in this one. Okay. Because the whole world ends, because they didn't get something done, well they said those three boxes that they had in the original movie, but they all merge, which I guess is bad, don't let them merge. So when they merge, it blows up earth, apparently.

So as earth is blowing up in pieces, it's coming to him, he starts running faster into it. And he runs faster than he's ever ran before, and he runs so fast he makes time go backwards. Right. So, he does this one thing that he didn't get to do because- So, he exceeded 88 miles an hour is what you're saying.

Yes. And he has a flux capacitor. Well, he went faster than the speed of light. It's what he says in his head, I have to go faster than the speed of light.

Faster than I've ever gone before. Oh, way to push yourself, Flash. That's what it's all about here. Right.

But he's my favorite character anyway. He's a defensive character. He's not an offensive character. It's not like he's saving people, you know, they're about to get shot, so he runs over and pulls you out of the way.

So, he's like the Malcolm Butler of the Super Bowl and I like that? that. Right. Yeah.

Yeah. He's not Brady. He's Malcolm Butler. Right.

I mean, in this one, he would be Devin White or Shaq Barrett. I guess. Something like that. I have no idea who these people are.

Vida Vella. The Dominican Sioux. La Vida Voga. I like those cigars.

We don't carry them here. Okay. So I did watch the entire four hours in pieces. It's very long, but I did watch it in one evening, but I had to keep, okay, I've had enough.

I got to walk away for a few minutes. I need a break. I need a break. I need a break.

I want to I don't know when the Titanic starts to sing. Right, when's it gonna sing? What's the lady who sings? My heart will go on.

Celine Dion? Yeah, was she on there? Just in the dream too. She was the background music for Joker.

So he's dreaming of another parallel earth where Superman is trying to kill all of them. Listen, Superman flips the script, we're all dead. There's nothing you could do about it. Well, you know, they brought that up in the movie because he's dead.

Right. I don't remember, I guess he died. But Batman does kill him. I mean, he does.

Right, but I mean, they still bring him back like they did in the other one, but the reason these people came is because they knew Superman could beat them and then Superman was gone, so now it's fair game on Earth, let's go get Superman gone. Good job, Bruce. Right, so, yeah. I mean, Batman.

Clark Kent. No, that's Superman. Yeah, Superman. Yeah, Batman.

Batman killed him. " Right. " And then they take off in his special car. The Batmobile?

No. That would be the Batmobile. No, it was a BMW version of the Batmobile because it's still labeled BMW. Oh, German made.

Very nice. Slide that in. Slide that in. Slide in the German movie.

Into the German car in the movie. So, I got something funny to tell you. Yeah? Yeah, you'll get a kick out of this.

Okay, tell me the funny because then I have something else. Okay. 12, wow, 12 minutes already about the movie. So, four hour movie, it took a long time talking about it.

Yeah. Okay, you can come back now if you would laugh for the spoilers. Yeah, spoiler alert, over. Over.

So, in the morning in my house, there's a whole process of getting the kids out and bo-go-go-go-go. Jax gets up first empties the dishwasher. Yeah, that whole thing. Yeah.

You know all that. You know, I think about it every time I empty the dishwasher now. If Jax was only here. If Jax was here.

If Jax was here. Two dollars to get this dishwasher. Three, it's three. How often does he get paid?

Every Friday. So, three dollars a week? Yep. They like to come over every day.

I'll tell you what, it's a great feeling, opening that thing. Oh, I know. It's empty. I do it every morning.

I hate doing it. It's like every other morning, I guess. So, yeah. Well, it's every morning in my house.

Oh. Well, there's more people. Yeah. So, as like the catastrophe leaves, you know, I prep the house to keep it like 100% before I leave, right?

Right. So, any odds and ends or whatever. Then I normally wind up making our bed, and then I leave. Okay.

Now, my wife has gone along, and this has been going on for a while, but she'll get She'll go home after the gym or whatever the case may be, and then she will rate, on a scale of one to ten, my overall bed-making. Oh, not the entire house, just the bed. Just the bed. Just the bed.

Because for me, I don't know, it's kind of a weak point for me. I'll never get it right. Yeah, I'm not big, yeah. I'm not really compelled to get it 100% either.

Yeah, bed-making, right. I just need it decent. Okay, you guys have like all the pillows you don't use either. Oh, yeah, yeah, the pillows gotta come on.

There's a whole process. Throw the pillows. Yeah, it's fucking crazy. You know, it's crazy.

Right. You know, this is part of the process, and this has to be done. So I do it, then I get like a six or a seven, or, you know, I think I've seen... If you could tally those for the week, Brittany, I would like to read those every week.

So then I got... Michael's bed making this week is an average of four. Sometimes I get an eight. No, I haven't hit a four.

I've hit a six, I think. Oh, okay. Like, I think the lowest I've gotten is a six. Or you could call in.

That would be good. We can call in. So I'm at the gym, and Brittany goes home. Oh, she texts this to you?

Yeah, she texts me a number. Ah, got you. So I'm at the gym today. - Maybe a group text?

- No, no group text. - Just for the number. - I'm at the chip. - Right.

9. - Oh, look at you! - Via text. So, I instantly start laughing, and I text her back.

" - Oh! - She didn't even give herself a 10. - She's a hard on herself, you know? - Right.

- Can I ask you a personal-ish question? - Sure, go ahead. Sure, go ahead. All right, you brought in flowers middle of the week.

Yeah. Were you in trouble? No. Because you made some flower comment as you brought them in.

Yeah. No, I wasn't in trouble at all. Oh, just, you know, I like to, you know, it's just important to be cognizant of your partner. But you said something under your breath about the flowers, though.

I don't want to blow you up in case she listens now, but. Oh, she's definitely going to listen to this one. Oh, yeah, yeah, because you said something about the flowers. Yeah, did I?

Yeah. I don't remember what I said. Something like, you know, my flower game, or fuck, I had to bring flowers. No, no, I think it was something, I don't, I don't remember what I said, but, you know, what's really funny is when, so I, when you bought, I bought these flowers, I knew where she would be, so it was probably something based on the fact that, like, it's, it's always nicer to get your flowers at work than it is to get them at home.

Yeah, I was going to say that, if you give her flowers at home, it's nice, but it's not as nice, if somebody else sees them. Yeah, so, so I made sure that I brought them here, and it was probably something in that realm. Oh, okay. It's better to get them at home or get them at work than, you know, something like that.

Okay, yeah, and I probably heard something like flowers are more work or something like that. Yeah, flowers are better at work or something like that. Right, right. Okay, that makes a lot more sense.

Yeah, no, but she gets flowers all the time. Oh, okay. I would say... My wife does too, but I bring them from the grocery store, and like you said, I mean, you know...

Right. It's nice, but... Yeah. If I send them to her at school...

Way better. Way better. Way better. Way better.

It makes them, you know... She does still like to take photos of them, though, even when she gets them at home and puts them up. " Do you have a Costco card? No.

Dude, Costco's amazing when it comes to shipping flowers. Oh. You can drop like 50 flowers. Oh, I'm going to count it FTD.

There you go, so this fucking... Yeah, I just got to go on and click, click, this, this, that, boop, it's out. Right. That's always the way to do it.

I don't want to badmouth the edible people, but I have a hell of a time getting those delivered all the time. I don't feel like the edibles send the same message. Oh, well, see, they're big if you send them to school, because then everybody gets a bite, and everybody gets something. Oh, yeah.

Ooh, food. Ooh, food, yeah. Don't touch 'em, Betty. All right, don't touch 'em.

Not again, you. Aren't you on, uh, keto? I don't hear anything by the end of the day, I have to ask her, because sometimes they'll stay in the office, and then everybody's like... Well, honey, I got seven sticks and a cherry.

Like, well, they were... That's why you see, but it's fun to drop the flowers, they can sit there all week. Ooh, flowers. Yeah, fuck you, you can't eat 'em.

Oh, wow. Yeah. Just letting you know my husband loves me. Right.

Mm-hmm. Is that it? Is that all you got? Yep, that's all I got.

Oh, okay. You just said the one, do the one thing, and then you had other stuff. Oh, I have something. Yes, yes.

We need to talk about your devoted people. Ah, the devoted. Is there a level based on size of the tattoo? Um, you know, we haven't gotten into that realm yet, as far as the post-Tanya tattoos and the level of the devoted as far as size, because Everybody who has done it so far, the size has been pretty good.

Oh, are they the same? They're pretty close. Oh. They're pretty close.

Mine's bigger. It's already done? Yep. Uh-oh.

I got it done yesterday. Oh, take off your pants. It's not, it's not down there, Michael. Let's see it.

I gotta get taken to this hoodie, I'm sweating like crazy. Oh, so Chet didn't get one yet? No, he couldn't go. We tried to work it together, but he couldn't go.

Okay, let's see this. Oh, yes it is. It is definitely bigger. It's bigger.

So I get to be the head devoted now? You are the leader of the devoted. Oh, there we go. Yes.

Yes. I love it. You've been hanging tight for that, too. All day, yes.

" That's amazing. Look at you. I feel like we have more Powstanie tattoos now than I've seen Roma Craft tattoos. I mean, there's the one guy that's got that crazy intemperance, like nut, like next level.

Oh, I think he's on his nuts. No, I think it's on his leg or something, like it's a whole, like a big wrap. But, you know, overall, in general, I feel like we're dominating now. We have a higher level of the devoted.

Is it three? I think we're at four. Oh, there's the Manny. The Manny.

The brother-in-law. Yeah. Me. And who's the number four?

I'm forgetting somebody. Uh-oh. There's definitely one more. I think there's one more.

Is there one more? I don't know. It was only the two. Oh.

I tried to look theirs up to see, and I couldn't find their pictures anymore. I feel like there's one more, and I'm sorry if I'm forgetting you and you're listening, but I will do my research and get back to you on that. I know who it is. I feel like there's four, though.

Oh. Yes, I got it yesterday. I like it. Nicely done.

Thank you, sir. You've been hanging tight this whole time. All the time. Adrian posted, too.

I was surprised you didn't see it. And when she did, I was like... No, I was like, well, I'm like, I won't see it. Did she delete it?

No, no, no. She just posted that we were there. Got a tour guy. We had a guy, so he came in on a Sunday when they're normally closed to work me in.

Nice. I don't Facebook as much on the weekends, believe it or not. Oh. Yeah.

Well, and it's her, too, so, I mean, you might have just passed right through it because I don't think she tagged me. Right, if she just checked in. " Yeah, and you were talking about going to get a tattoo, but I would have never guessed that you were doing that. Right.

Mm-hmm. The devoted, they're growing. There is something you owe me now, too, just so. I do owe you a box of cigars.

Yes, you do. All right. I do owe you a box of cigars. Okay.

Greg hasn't seen it either. Happy to pay you that, sir. Happy to pay it. Well, good, because this is on the rest of my, I figure it's the rest of my life, but I'm in my 50s.

Yeah, I've already done it. Look at it, 10, 15 years? Yeah, that's it. Ah, big deal.

Nicely done. I like that I'm owning all types of property on your body now. Oh, that's right. Same guy that did this.

Yep. He was showing off the microphone to other guys because he's in a new studio now. Look at that detail. " Yeah.

" So now I got property on both arms. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Well, see, I have Powstanie there and Florida Cigar Club here.

That's nice. So now I'm like Popeye, it's like, bam, bam. Oh, yeah. That's nice.

Look at those muscles. So strong. Yeah. Very impressed.

We're at 20 minutes. Very impressed. Thank you, sir. Uh, should we get started with the news?

Mm-hmm. Wow, the show just zipping along here. The news. Hit the button.

Yeah, I have to fix the volume. You should probably set up like a piece of tape on the... Scarhazer Podcast News! You should set a tape there, so you know exactly where you want the volume to be when you hit the news button.

Well, I had turned it down, I fade out the music, so there's up and down stuff, but we don't normally do it now. Normally, I reset the board for the commercial, but we've been jumping right to it. We have been jumping to it because we have like low information days on a personal level because of late. Yeah, there's not much going on right now.

United Cigars launching Stadium Series with Asylum Green Monster. Opening day is just around the corner. United Cigars is a new cigar that pays tribute to the iconic-- Asylum? No, United.

Yeah. United Cigars around the corner has a new cigar that pays tribute to an iconic baseball That's called Stadium. Oh. The Fenway.

No, the Green Monster. Yeah, Fenway. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Fenway. They're calling it Green Monster, though.

The Asylum Green Monster is the first-- Monsta? M-O-N-S-T-A-H. That's the way they spell it, yes. Okay, yeah.

It's the first United Cigars new stadium series line of cigars, as the name implies, a tribute to the Boston Red Sox Fenway Park. Boom. I've seen the stadium's iconic left field wall. I've been to a game there.

I mean, I'm from Boston. I've been there. Me too. Oh.

A couple times. I only went once, when I used to live in New England. Oh. This edition size uses an Ecuadorian Candela wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Esteli and Jalapa, Nicaragua.

The Asylum, oh, Asylum Green Monster, so it is, did you say Asylum? You said Asylum. Oh, so somewhere's, oh yeah, launch with Asylum Green Monster, yeah, okay. See, a 6x60.

But CLE has Asylum. Uh-oh. That's what it says. I'm just saying.

99. Both sizes are limited to 250 boxes of nine cigars. The nine is a reference to the nine innings that make up a professional baseball game, assuming it does not go into extra innings or is called off due to weather. I have to mention that.

While one side of the box displays a replica of the scoreboard found at the green monster, the other face is designed to mimic a home plate. The sounds of the ballpark have always been part of my springs at Oliver NIVAUD, director of operations for United Cigars, It's a press release. De Bois. Now we have an asylum cigar to smoke for opening day.

Fenway Park is my holy cathedral, but we have a few more stadiums in mind for the stadium series. Wrigley Field. That's obvious. The New York one.

Yeah, the New York one. Probably Boston Red Sox. LA. Not Boston, but Chicago White Sox.

Oh, is it Wrigley? That is Wrigley. That is Wrigley. Chicago, both of them play Wrigley?

I don't know. I know I'm asking the wrong person. So let me ask you something. Are you going to drop the cease and desist order when it comes in from CLE because they're Asylum?

I don't know. You won't? I mean, I'm counting on you too. Cigar is launching Stadium Series with Asylum Green...

I don't know, why would they have said that? I don't know, I probably should have got Asylum. Are they affiliated, the two companies? I don't think so, maybe.

I don't think so. I don't know. What do I know? I'm just a small...

I'm a small retailer. We're at 25 minutes. We will take a break. We're taking a break right now?

It's at 25 minutes. The next story is a little wordy. A little extensive? A little extensive.

We can try to squeeze it in. I'm looking forward to what you have for the Florida news. That always excites me. Always at the end.

People have to wait for that. It's at the end. Okay, we'll go real quick. Michigan cigar lounges can reopen today!

After six weeks of being legally closed, cigar lounges in Michigan can reopen to patrons beginning Monday, March 22nd. What the fuck? In order from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued today, clarify that places with adequate ventilation The liquid ventilation can be able to allow for patrons to take their mask off to engage in activity that otherwise would not be possible with smoking. Specifically, the state will require those places to have ventilation that meets or exceed 60 feet, 60 feet, 60 feet, three minutes of outdoor airflow per person.

Oh. So every 60 feet, you get three minutes of airflow? Is that the way that works? Well, it's, so they're trying to break down like the cubic foot of air.

Right, yeah. Well, the retail port and cigar stores remain open. In Michigan, Cigar Lounges were closed in November. I was fucking talking.

I know, but we're running out of time. We have plenty of time. Don't worry. You worry too much.

I have time. I'm in the restaurant room. Bars and other venues are due to increasing COVID-19 infections. On February 4th, a state issued an order that allowed for the dining rooms and bars to open, but clarification that cigar lounges would not be legally allowed to reopen.

Yep. We look forward to resuming and enjoying of Handmade Cigars this Monday, said Andy Height, co-owner Former of Nolan Cigar Bar in Traverse City and president of the Michigan Association of Premium Cigars Pipe Redo Association. Poor Ronnie. My boy, Ronnie of Secreto.

I figured there'd be some big posts from him today. There was nothing. Well, I mean, he's always in Facebook jail now. Like, somebody is… Oh, well, his Instagram stories usually… He got popped on Instagram, too.

So, like, somebody is trolling this guy and reporting everything that he does. And it's so fucked. Wow. I don't know who he pissed off, but he pissed somebody off.

I don't either. He did send me a nice message saying that he didn't think it was me. So, that was nice of him. Thank you, Ronnie.

And then I told him, I go, really, it's kind of a dick move. If I went to get you, there's much more creative ways than that. Yeah, I mean, God, you know, whoever it is, just stop. You know, you're really, you're hurting a small business.

I understand that Ronnie is, you know, he's an acquired taste, but holy shit, man, you know, I'm not poor Ronnie very much in the class. Yeah. I asked him, who's, did he, did you sleep with somebody's wife or something? I was like, no, I would never do that.

I would never do that. I'm gonna say, okay, so then like, it can't be that serious. So, please leave Ronnie alone, just leave him alone, please, he's not a bad guy, he's a good guy, he's a good guy, he's a good guy, he's okay, he's a little crazy, but you know, we're all a little crazy, we're in the cigar industry, there's a lot of pull-ups, he does, he does, and you know, I don't entirely agree with it, but it's fine, I'll just let him do what he does, you know, alright, now we're gonna have to break or it's gonna go off, so we'll be right back, we'll take a quick break, and we'll get right back to it, we're into the news, alright. Hey, it's Mike too.

Montana bill to allow cigar bars tabled. You can smoke in Michigan. You can't smoke in Montana, though. A bill that would have allowed the creation and licensing of cigar bars that had been making their way through the Montana legislature came to a halt on Friday when the Senate committee tabled its after objections.

After objection from health care. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not do this. The bill, HB 285, created an exemption to the state's Clean Indoor Act to ban the generated 10% of the revenue from the sale of cigars.

Sponsored by Rep Jerry Trabes from Great Falls, the bill passed the House by 54 over 43 vote on February 24th. While it found... So it passed. It passed the House, but not the other thing.

The Senate? Yeah. It's called the Senate. Well, this isn't a national thing, though.

Yeah, it's the State Senate. State Senate, yeah. We found support among the Senate Judiciary Committee members. It was a testimony of a dozen individuals speaking on behalf of the healthcare industry and health advocacy groups who said the passage of the bill would lead to an increase in cancer.

What data are you looking at to prove that? As well as lung and heart disease among both patrons and employees. The argument was convincing enough to get the committee to table the bill, and while not officially dead, it would have to be taken up by the same Judiciary Committee for its advance to the Senate floor. The problem is that there's nobody sitting in the room saying, wait a second, whoa, whoa, whoa, where are you basing this on?

Yeah, where are you getting your information here? Yeah, oh, well, here's our research. I'm like, yeah, I want to see the actual data, not the skewed bullshit that you got from it. Right, yeah, that you're assuming is going to happen.

Yeah, so what exactly took place in this lab with this research that broke down the fact that this provides the information for all this stuff, right? Because I think that Harvard did a whole research study saying that if you smoke one cigar a day, nothing happens. Well, as I usually do, I think what they're saying is because you're in the room where all the smoke is, you're not just smoking your cigar. So leave the fucking room if you've got a problem with that.

It's a free goddamn country. Well, if they follow the ventilation standards of Michigan, which are over here on the floor with the 60 feet per 3 feet minimum air per second or whatever the fuck it said, it'd be fine. I don't know if I'd even follow Michigan though, because they're like, you know what, we're gonna shut this down. Montana doesn't have a lot of people.

They gotta be a lot of clean air they can suck in. They got the mountains and stuff. It's beautiful. That's beautiful.

That's great. Yeah, that's great. You know, I mean, I know a lot of people die in car accidents in Montana, especially. Oh, it's not my cars.

No cars. They should probably shut that down. I want everybody walking in Montana. Oh.

That's it. Well, don't they all ride horses? Safety first. They all ride horses.

Safety first, Montana. You know. Meh. They ride horses.

So stupid. Ridiculous. They ride horses, Mike. All the health people are concerned.

The fucking... All the lung cancer and heart disease. You know how many doctors I know that smoke? Same doctors I know that smoke, I'm guessing.

Probably, I probably know a few more. Oh, you might do it, you might do it, yes. Do you know how many palmonologists I know who fucking smoke? Pollenologists?

Palmonologists? What's a lung doctor called? Palmonologist, right? Oh, a lung doctor.

Why'd you say lung doctor? How many lung doctors I know? How many big ass fancy words? At least one.

Liga Privada Year of the Ox goes on sale in China. Hey, oh. Oh, that's a big thing, yes. Interesting.

There's a new Liga Privada Year of the Ox on sale in China. See, it's called Year of the Ox, so that's why they like it. Oh. Very Chinesey.

The cigar is a six and a quarter of a 54 toro extra that uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Brazilian Modafina binder. That's funny to know, it is called a pulmonologist. Oh, and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. While those tobacco varieties are relatively similar to many of the Liga Privada cigars, a spokesman for the Drew Estate told Halfwheel that this is a unique blend.

P-U-L-M-O-N-O-L-O-G-I-S-T. The year of the Ox is exclusive release to the Chinese market with an MSRP of $170 per box of eight cigars. Damn. It's wrapped in gold foil, similar to the company's legal provided year of the rat.

Oh, we like a gold. Gold make a very happy. Well, the cigar featured the brand signature dark blue. 25 a clip.

For what? It's $170 divided by eight. The box of the year of the ox uses purple, a Jackson color. The cigar's name is referenced to Chinese zodiac calendar.

The current zodiac year, which began on February 12th, is the year of the ox. In recent years, many cigar companies have created special releases that coincide with the holiday. Davidoff, Great Wall, Habanos, Placencia, and Tablicalera SLU have all released Year of the Ox Cigars through a state distributed in China by international marketing and exchange LDD. Wow.

Yes. Well in China, cigar smoking is an upper tier thing. Yeah, it's classic. Right, so the $21.

That's what it is here too. They want it to be probably more than $20. Say I pay more for this piece. Lower end.

Yes. Well, you know, they're all about like Cubans and you know. Right, yeah. They're soft over there.

But the Chinese? Yeah. Smoking the fucking- Smoking the- Give me the weak shit. Give me the stuff that doesn't really taste like anything.

All right, Michael. Garrison Brothers Distillery, Payne Mason team up for a new cigar line. Uh-oh. Bam, you gotta go to work.

Bam. Bam, you gotta go to work. Payne Mason and Garrison Brothers Distillery have announced a new line of cigars, including one that has been infused with Garrison Brothers Bourbon. Have you ever had Garrison Brothers Bourbon?

No. No. Four separate cigars each feature a different blend, the Garrison Toro Golden uses a five-year-old Connecticut Shade Wrapper, whereas the Toro Maduro uses an eight-year-old Maduro wrapper. There's also a Toro Barber, once again.

Don't hit that, that's for later. 95. You build a wall, so I can't touch it. I'm gonna have to now.

Payne Mason is a California-based company that sells cigars directly to consumers, including the... hand-rolling events, through hand-rolling events, the company claims its cigars are made by Master Cuban Rollers, in parentheses. Masters. Do they get, like, a belt or something?

Like, black belt? Black belt. I have Master Cuban Rollers. Oh, I have belts.

See, there's a rollback. Five dollars. Master. Maestro.

At the moment, the cigars are being sold directly to consumers via a website. The public relations representative told Halfwheel that the companies hope to make these available in stores in the future. Mmm. People are going to start coming in and going, I want the Garrison Brothers.

cigar, Blades. Yeah. Parts of the sales will be donated to good bourbon for good cause. Didn't Drew say do like the Pappy Van Winkle yada yada for a while?

Yeah, they did the Pappy Van Winkle. How'd that go? I don't like it. You're not a fan?

I'm not a fan. I don't even know of it. Okay, you have smoked one that I know of. We got it at the Barn Burner or whatever the fuck those things are called.

And you chucked it out the window of the car. Oh. I guess I wasn't a fan of it. Yes, you're not a fan.

Yes, during that terrible rainstorm while I was driving in, I couldn't see, and the car was full of people, and you went, this is terrible. You threw it out the window. I'm sure somebody's really happy with it, though. I'm sure somebody wants it.

Well, my friend, Louis, who's actually in Hawaii this week, he was smoking one today. He put up a photo. Oh, and he liked it. Apparently he likes it.

Pappy. That's all, you know, different stuff from people. Let's see. What is a good bourbon for a good cause?

It's a charity found by Garrison Brothers employees and owners, which directs funds to a variety of other charities, including those focused on the areas surrounding the distillery. Okay, wildlife conservation and veterans' causes. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, it's always nice to help people.

Where are we at here with time? We gotta go to work. Plenty of time, man. Come on to Florida news already.

You're so worried. You worry too much. Well, I... Well, Pedro's gonna be pissed.

Oh, no. Okay. We're at seven minutes. Yeah, Pedro's gonna be pissed.

See, in Pensacola, Florida, Michael, an assistant principal at a Florida military school and her teenage daughter have been accused of using the mother's privileged access to the school's The school's district internal system to cast fraudulent votes in favor of her daughter winning homecoming queen at the high school. Nice! That's what I'm talking about. That's a good team player right there.

Oh, yes, but it gets worse. Uh oh. La Rose, what, Laura Rose Carroll, Laura Rose, I have a student's like, I just don't know, she's 50. Laura Rose comes up.

Uh, Pensacola and her 17-year-old daughter were arrested Monday, according to the news release from Florida Department of Law Enforcement. I mean, it's an arrestable offense. Voter fraud? For fucking...

" Holy shit. A report released in 2014 by Human Rights Watch found Florida transferred more children out of juvenile systems into adult courts in any other state. Wow. So we're going.

We ain't fucking around here. Hey, at 15, you're done. You're up. Big house.

You're going in. Go to the big house. What'd you do? You stole a candy bar?

You're fucked. You're going in. What are you in for, Kate? I'm sorry, sir.

I stole a candy bar. FDLA agents learned that Carol and her daughter used FOCUS, the district's student of her majorism, to cast fraudulent votes for her daughter to win homecoming queen at the Tate High School, spokeswoman Greta Plissinger told the Pensacola News-Journal part of the USA Today Network, the mother is also accused of allowing her daughter to use access to this FOCUS computer thing to access hundreds of students' personal files, including their test scores. Nine students and one teacher provided What's up, Timmy? You fucking idiot.

I saw your SAT scores. I saw your SAT. You're stupid. You're fucking stupid.

Don't talk to him. He can't pace me. Yeah, you know what one plus one is. How'd you make it this far?

Ridiculous. Nine students and one teacher provided written statements of authorities that detailed how the daughter had spoken about accusing or accessing her mother's focus account. See, and that's what happened. She fucked up.

He told people. You need to shut your goddamn mouth. Your mother goes out on the line for you, and here you are just ruining it. Oh, she'd been doing this for four years.

Yeah, well, and you know what? And three years, it was going well, and then you had to go ahead and fucking tank up the whole thing. Start telling people. Yeah, 'cause it was working so well.

And a teacher! Hey, Mrs. Jones, I know that Tommy didn't really pass that test last week, so if you'd like to vote for me for homecoming queen, I forget this all happened. All I'm saying is, you know, I saw the grade and then I thought you changed the grade.

Special agents, special agents, launched an investigation after school district in October 2020, flagged hundreds of votes, The vote for Tate High School's homecoming court is fraudulent. Damn it. How bad do you have to win? Real bad.

Pensacola? Apparently, it's a big deal to be homecoming queen there. She probably won for the last eight years. Mmm, yeah, I'm sure.

She's only in high school for four. That's a good point. How did she win? She graduated three years ago.

Don't know. It's what the votes say. What do you want from me? And the winner is?

Oh, let's see. Agents discovered that 117 of the fraudulent votes originated from the same IP address It's a short period of time. You don't have an IP blocker? I mean, what is going on here?

You know? She's not even a good criminal. You gotta worry. You gotta work all this stuff out.

For one, you gotta take your daughter aside and you're gonna say, hey, listen, shut your fucking mouth about this, okay? This is a big deal. They tied the address, the IP address to Carol and her daughter's computer. Yeah, no shit.

You can't go to one of those internet cafes or something. Yeah, I mean, just overthink. I mean, come on, man. Be a good criminal.

Agents discovered Carol had district level access. You embarrassed yourself. The school board's focus program, according to the release, both Carol and her daughter were charged with three third degree felonies, committing offenses against users of computers, electronic devices, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, I don't know, can't use a walkie-talkie, get me Johnny Cochran, all I know is just lawyer, you're under arrest, lawyer, firstly identifiable information, they were also charged with conspiracy to commit the offense, a first degree misdemeanor. Yeah, well, tell you what, I'll cop to the first degree misdemeanor.

I ain't cop to any of the other two go away. No face, no case. Prove it was me. Escanaba County School District Superintendent Tim Smith told the Pensacola News Journal on Monday that Karole has been suspended from her job at Bellevue Elementary School.

Oh. Oh, her mother wasn't even at the high school. She wasn't even at the school. She wasn't even at the same school.

Oh my God, so like the kids with the crayons are now fucked. She declined to commit further on the matter. Her daughter has been expelled from Tate High School, according to the FDLE. She was taken into custody, and held at the Escanaba Regional Detention Center, it's already said.

Damn. There was more to the story, the mother, I think the mother may not have known. Like, she might have left her computer open at home, daughter's in there. But I think a mother may be trying to take the fall for her daughter, which is what a good parent would do.

Yeah, of course. Right. Yeah, my kid killed some people, I killed some people. I did it, it was me.

Yeah, fuck them. You know, yes, I'm gonna let that serial killer run loose. Can I let that serial killer run loose? Of course I am.

He's my son. Without question. I'm protecting him. Right.

I'll take the rap. I'll eat baloney. The daughter's going into it. You're a large man.

You'll be very popular. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I'll run that yard.

There you go. Just like what? My second wife had a brother who was in jail. Yeah.

He told me, he goes, if you ever get arrested, which I don't remember going to prison. Yeah. He said, the trick is, you find the biggest guy and start a fight and kick his ass in the beginning. Oh, you just whoop his ass?

Just whoop his ass. He said he beat this guy up in his sleep one time. He fell asleep one time, the biggest guy wouldn't beat his ass into sleep, nobody fucked with him. In his sleep?

That's how it's done. That means you're crazy. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna wait till you fall asleep.

You don't tell him! Kick your ass, pal. " Did you see what broke down in Miami? Does he sleep well?

Did you see what broke down in Miami this weekend? Spring Breakers? Yes, I didn't want to go into that again, but yeah, now they have cordoned off part of the, oh, they closed the causeway or something? Well, they close it in the evenings now and they pepper ball people.

They pepper-balled people. Well, that was last week. They pepper-balled the people in the square. Yeah.

They beat up the policemen. Oh, they beat up a policeman. Two of them. Oh, boy.

So, this week, they're closing down the causeway. I don't know what you expected, though, because 49 states have been shut the fuck down, and then the kids come out. " What happens is you guys all come down here and mess it all up for us. Mess it up for us.

That's right. They're going to lock us off now. I did see a DeSantis hat for 2024. Oh, I saw that.

Make America Florida. I saw that too. Oh, boy. I read that to my wife when I saw it.

" Oh, Zach had it. Zach. Oh, did he? Yeah.

I saw, he shared the post. Oh, okay. Got you. Make America Florida.

Hey, you know, we got some good tax breaks here, I'm just saying. There you go. See... Ain't that bad.

Florida is- We got the mouse. Yes, can I go in now? Well, they got the Big Mac, we got the Big Mick. Florida is already in battle with dangerous and invasive species like the Burmese python, the green iguana, and the lionfish.

Ooh, is this the big fish thing? And now there's a new predator in the state called the Arapamama. A-R-A-P-A-I-M-A. A-R-A-P-A-I-M-A.

I want a cigar called the Arapamama. Arapamama. It is a fish that can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh hundreds of pounds. Yeah, baby.

A dead one recently washed ashore in Cape Coral's JC Park along the Kalahoochee River, which runs from Lake Okeechobee west of the Gulf of Mexico. The Arapamama is native to the Amazon River in South America, it's come here like everybody else, and it is one of the world's largest predatory fish. Its scales are said to be impenetrable as armor. Wow.

Look at that. And it's ugly. And it's ugly. And it's ugly, at least to most people.

Oh, I guess some people find it attractive. There's somebody for everybody. It's true. I think it's kind of cool, said Captain Josh Constantine, who has been fishing.

I read this article. We've got to do a Florida accent. I think it's kind of cool, said Captain Josh Constantine. No, no, he's too far south.

If he was up north, he'd be that way. That's a southern accent. C. Park, you're talking about South Florida.

Oh, so is he Hispanic? It's like an extra borough in New York. I think it's kind of cool, man. No, it's more, he's got to have, yeah, whatever.

Whatever, just do whatever you want. Whatever you want. For more than 20 years, he's been a guide for his business, Kalahoochee Cowboy Charters. Okay, he definitely, okay, you win.

I think it's great. I think it's kind of cool. I really like it. For more than a decade.

This fish is great. They're capable of jumping out of the water for food, and their prey include small mammals, lizards, birds, and basically anything they can catch. I want something big enough to eat an alligator. Constantine is also aware of the reality of the Repromo's parents in Florida, hold on, I think it says that down here somewhere, Florida, which was confirmed.

It was confirmed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. I can't imagine it's good for an ecosystem, he said. Yeah, no shit. And he's right.

The Arapamama, because of its variety and various appetite, is a threat to native Florida wildlife, so capable of producing hundreds and thousands of eggs during its lifetime. Nice. There is no evidence that the Arapamama have reproduced in the wild. You know, I couldn't find a pronunciation for this.

They just found the one, the Arapamama. Well, they found more than one. Oh, there's two. The FWC sent in an email, Josh Cassani, head of Calusa Water Keepers, a nonprofit group dedicated to protecting waterways in the region, The region agreed, writing an email, it would seem unlikely as sightings are rare and this one may be unique to the Kalahoochee River.

The FWC said the habitats are limited by their sensitivity to cold water. They can even die in one of the 60 degrees are colder, so they're not going to the beach either. However, they can survive and the water is the extreme southeast Florida. So we can kill them with cold water.

Ice. Ice is their enemy. We're gonna freeze all of it. Let's freeze the gators too.

I feel like we should get rid of the gators. They just don't belong here anymore. They're a problem. There's too many of them.

Well, they have open haunting season. Yeah, it's still too much. Still so much. Yeah.

If there's one in water, it's just a problem. I have a friend who works at a private airport and there was this one on the runway and they drove out in the golf cart to chase it off. They practically had to hit it with the golf course before it just lumbered off the runway. Yeah.

No, I mean, like you kill that thing. Why? It's big. It's been around forever.

Only the tail. Only the tail. So? Yeah, you ever been in a restaurant?

It's only Gator Tail on the menu. Nothing else is edible, apparently. Eh, well, whatever. Maybe a purse.

I ain't complaining. There's only specific parts of the cow that I like to eat. Let's see, they lay eggs in February, March, and April, so it's potentially could take them longer to establish a presence. Lionfish were quick to establish an invasive presence in Florida, she said, because females can produce egg masses every four days.

You know what's kind of amazing, though, is that somebody came... Two million eggs a year, the lionfish really. Somebody smuggled in this fish. And that's that's the theory yeah yeah that's how it broke down that yeah somebody brought it in and they had it in their home yeah whatever this thing is too big this thing is too big and it's eating my dog it's yeah yeah exactly it's jumping up out of the pool they had to throw in the pool I can't do with this it's attacking my tiger so either the dead one was left out as a joke no or the water got really cold and killed it so or just got old you know yeah couldn't get medicare uh let's see uh let's see how did the dead Edirapageta, Kalahoochee River remains a mystery.

There's a chance someone had it as a pet and released it into the wild. There it is. Or somebody could have brought it here already dead and let it go just to start some, it says explicit. Nah, no way.

Start some shit. No telling, we don't know. Oh, this guy probably, oh, this is Constantine again. Someone could have brought it here dead and let it just start some shit.

There's no telling. We just don't know. We just don't. We have no idea.

We just don't. So if you brought the fish, can you come to the authorities and let us know? I threw some away and she didn't throw them. That's okay.

Don't throw that away. Don't throw that away. Hey, we're almost at Pedro time. We're at 20 minutes.

Be sure to listen every Tuesday at 10 AM for all new episodes. Hi, I'm doing, I'm Husto-E-Raw. Yeah, we just don't have to do a single podcast ever again. Perfect.

I'm good, Mike and Mike. How are you guys doing? The Hojo Deeb. Hojo!

It's the Hojo! He didn't even let him fuck it up all the way. I couldn't get past Hojo! I don't even have to try it.

He's not even going to try it. We're going to cover a lot of ground here, Mike. All right. Try to keep up.

That's a sign of a good podcast. It'd be like four cigars when I walked in a door. All right, end this.
