168 Interview Scott Pirce PCA and Magic Mike gets arrested

Episode Summary
Episode 168 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with the hosts (Mike and Mike) doing a bit built around a call to "Mr. Scott Pierce" of the PCA — a running gag in which the perpetually overwhelmed, one-man-office executive director can never quite answer a question because of ringing phones, faxes, badge printing and a crowd at the door. The joke pays off later in the news segment when the PCA's real announcement that Glynn Loope had been hired as director of state advocacy comes up, with the hosts riffing that Loope "hasn't punched in yet." Joshua Habusky's prior role covering both state and federal affairs and PCA president John Anderson's comments are also read.
Between the bits, the hosts smoke an E.P. Carrillo Pledge Virtue (following up a Brotherly Kindness from a previous show) and cover listener feedback. Ben Rowland writes in with a theory on the United Cigar "Green Monster" story, suggesting that the friction isn't really Tatuaje and Pete Johnson's doing but rather bad blood involving Dave Garofalo and United — including a past rant about who originated the wick-on-a-cigar idea and Tatuaje's Irish car bomb-themed release. The Mikes argue that the industry should monetize the conflict rather than sulk about it. There's also a lengthy, very relatable detour about Easter, Fortnite V-Bucks gift cards, and an eight-year-old's hibachi birthday dinner.
The news block covers the cancellation of the 2021 Pro Cigar Festival in the Dominican Republic (with 2022 dates announced for February 22–25) and quotes from Pro Cigar president Hendrik Kelner; Prometheus shipping the Fuente Fuente OpusX Heaven & Earth Rare Black Double Corona at $65 per cigar in 10-count "travel humidor" boxes, benefiting the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation; Habanos S.A. hosting a virtual Habanos World Day in May tied to Cohiba's 55th anniversary; and Stogie Road Cigars moving production to Tabacalera Nueva Nicaragua, the factory owned by Chris Weber of Veritas.
The show closes with the signature Florida news segment — a stolen locomotive joyride in Newberry that destroyed $60,000 in track switches, Governor Ron DeSantis's executive order banning vaccine passports, and the arrest of a West Melbourne bar owner for hosting an illegal all-male revue — plus the giveaway winner announcement and a teaser for the Patreon secret show reviewing the Privada Club Vents, made by Blackbird Cigars.

It went well. So we're carrying it over? Yeah. We're going to do it again.
One more time. One more time. We'll probably do it a few times. Sam, play it again.
So this time, I think we'll just do like a Cigar Hustler gift certificate. Maybe like a $25 gift certificate. Oh, look at that. All you've got to do is subscribe, like, and comment on the upcoming video, this video, right?

You're broken. Oh, six feet. I licked your microphone. Goddamn.
All right. Okay. All right, well, let's get your phone off the thing. Okay, let's get the phone off the thing, so we've got to do this first.
We have a very special Listener of the Week, so we are going to call-- Oh, you're going to hit that now. Oh, yeah, well, we have to because this had to be arranged and I had to have a time, so-- Okay. Let me set this up real quick here. Very exciting.
Very, very exciting. Very, very exciting. Very, very exciting. Hold on, hold on.
I hit this button. Rodecaster Pro. All right. All right.
So, this is a trick. I'm in trouble. No, you're not. This is the list of the week.
Scott. Alright, hello. Hold on, hold on, hold on, before you say a name. Our listener of the week this week is Mr.
Scott Pierce from the PCA. Hey! It was his birthday last week. Get out of town.
No, it was his birthday last week, and I have arranged for him to be on the show with us today. Stop it. Mr. Pierce, is that you, sir?
How are you, Mike and Mike? This is Scott Pierce from the PCA. What's up, guys? Hey, how you doing?
How's everything going there at the PCA? Oh, you know, man, it's uh, you know, it's a little hectic, you know, I'm the only guy here, so, you know. Oh, very busy man. It's uh, yeah, what uh, what do you get?
Hold on. Do you have any questions, Michael, for Mr. Pierce? It's not really him.
It's his students, Mr. Pierce. Please, talk to Mr. Pierce.
Ask him a question. No, it's not him. He's got some dogs going out of control. Is he, is your office, uh, fill the animals?
He's very busy, guys. Oh, you're very busy? Yeah, you're like uh... Hold on, guys.
Hold on one second. Listen, I'm the only guy here right now. I gotta get this. Is the alarm clock going on?
Time to wake up, Mr. Pierce. How's the podcasting going? Don't try it, Stevie.
Let's talk more about PCA. You know what, guys? Listen, I got a fact I'm going to answer. Hold on.
I'm super busy. As you know, I am the only one here. Oh, so busy, very busy. Can you tell us about the new hub that you guys...
I can, just give me one second. Oh, man, there's a lot going on. He's a very busy man. Hey, this is a...
Your Badgers will be out on time, I promise. Stop here, CTA, if I can help you. It's going nuts. Put these on silence.
It's going nuts. Put these on silence for a minute. Yeah, all right, we'd like to talk about the new hub you guys have set up to buy cigars. Scott, I can see you on the camera.
It's really, you know what, I'm going to answer your, God. Oh man, you're very busy, you're like a, you're busier than a one-legged person in an ass-kicking contest and shit. Wow, that's crazy. Your badges will be out in, they'll be out in time.
I don't think anybody's calling about badges, I'm just saying, because I don't think anybody's going to Vegas for anything. I'm sorry Mike, excuse me, I just gotta send this email real quick. Should we, should we let you go, Mr. Pierce, or are you very busy?
Yeah, I mean, you know, you got a lot going on, let's see. I'm very busy, guys. You do know, I mean, I am the only one here. No, well, you, well, now you, but now you, but Scott, I gotta, I gotta let you know about the PCA, you hired Glenn Loop recently.
Well, he hasn't shown up yet. Oh, he's not there yet? He hasn't, he hasn't, he hasn't clocked in yet, and it's like, all I know is I have a crowd of people here that are waiting and they're trying to show up. I know people.
Oh, so Glenn Lupe is hourly? He gets paid by the hour. He's got to punch in. He's got to have a budget.
I will get to you guys' registration as I can get to it. That's very nice. Tell you what, Mr. Pierce, we're going to let you go.
You're very busy. Yeah, go keep doing what you're doing, buddy. Thank you for your service. We appreciate all the hard work there at the PCA.
Keep fighting the good fight for the cigar industry. Thank you very much. I'm doing what I can to keep, you know what, guys? All right, thank you, Mr.
Pierce, all right, bye-bye. All right, just hang up on him, let it go, let it go, before he hasn't met him. Well, that was obviously Mr. Scott Pierce with the PCA, a very, very busy man.
He's got emails going, he's got faxes coming in, there's a crowd going, I mean... He's super busy. He's printing badges all of a sudden, I don't know why we're printing badges, but hey, you know. Well, because, you know, the show's coming up soon.
He's got to be a head of schedule, okay, you know, super busy there. Good for you, Scott, atta boy. Wow, well, so, I mean, that's all, Cigar Hustler, we were all about getting the important people on, but unfortunately, it was his birthday on April 2nd, I hope he got time off for the cake or something. Yeah, I mean, at least, hopefully, yeah.
Woo! You think he got an ice cream cake? Everybody loves ice cream cake. I'm sure, I mean, if it's in the budget, I don't know.
Is it in the shape of a cigar? Maybe. $50,000 cake, maybe? Oh, good.
Did it come with an envelope? Mmm, maybe. Have this delicious cake. Whew.
Too busy. Light-jaw-thrink redemption. Here's some pie. Well, this past week, Michael, the Karole Bashkin got raided.
Oh, we're going right to the news? No, this isn't news. This is just about what's going on. I have several things to do before we get to the news.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes, they've received an 85. How about that? Yes.
How about that shit? I have a... I mean, that's a solid B. That would be, in '85.
Right, yeah, yeah, it is. I mean, do you see what they did to the poor, we wouldn't say five years, they're saying to smoke the Bashkins over the five years. Oh, I didn't really think of that, you're right, yeah. Isn't that crazy?
Right. Who would have thunk it? I have something pulled, one of your quotes that I was particularly enthralled by, let's see. So we reached out to Zee over Cordova Morales to see if he could make something for us.
As always, he came through in a big way. Yes, he always comes through. He does, he's a good guy. Yes.
And then you went on to say that our team posted the cigar on Facebook and it caught a lot of attention. Yes. Well, that was me. Well, you're the team.
I'm the entire team? You're kind of like the Dick. You couldn't have mentioned my name there? It's kind of like, well, you know, I didn't know exactly, I don't remember if it was you or not, to be totally fair.
Oh. But, you know, yeah, you're like the Dick Clark in Mary Poppins with the drum on the back and you're like the whole band. Dick Clark. It was Dick Van Dyke.
Hey, that guy, too. Dick Clark. Who the fuck knows? What do I know?
Dick Clark does an American bandstand. Not even the same thing. What's the difference? One's a movie, one's a TV show?
I feel like it was the same guy. No. There were a lot of dicks going around back then, huh? Apparently, yes.
Yeah, geez. Well, I mean, he did American Bandstand and the ball drop for the New Year's Eve Rockin' Eve. I thought that was the same guy. No.
So, Dick Van Dyke? Dick Van Dyke. I think he might still be alive. Oh.
He did the Dick Van Dyke show. So, yeah, so this guy's rolling around like, you know, but you know what I'm talking about, right? Well, I haven't seen Mary Poppins. You never saw the original Mary Poppins?
Maybe when I was a child. I'm not a big fan. He had the big drum on the back, every time, well, I know the scene, yeah, it's in the cartoon, yeah, it was the whole band, right, that's you, one man band, yeah, you're, you're, I am the team then, you are the team, oh, so anytime he mentions that the team, it is, it's Palmer, it's me, it's nobody else, it's me, somebody else, I mean, the rest of the people execute, I mean, they're fucking, we got some killers out here, they're sharpshooting left and right, but you know, you get all the credit, fine, fuck them, right, okay, we also had a, had a listener, uh, reach out, that was it from the, Is that the quotation? That was it for the thing.
I was referred to as the team. Oh, thanks for letting me out. I appreciate that that was it, because I appreciate letting me off the hook, because I was trying to bury the rest of it and just move on. Oh, well, everything else just seemed appropriate, so, you know.
But Ben Rowland reached out with a comment on last week's United Green Monster story. Oh, he did. He had a comment he would like to discuss with you. Yes.
So I'm going to read his comment, and then you feel free to respond to Mr. Rowland. Okay. " Tatuaje and Pete are well aware of how to get around it to make stuff work if they want to.
However, they probably have no desire to make anything work with one of the principles of United, maybe in parentheses with a question mark. Shit Talked Pete six months ago in a rant on his podcast. It's number two on Podbean about stealing ideas he had never copyrighted, like using a wick on a cigar. So I assume he's referring to our friend Mr.
Garofalo. Oh! So, he goes on to say: "I'm not 100% sure about Dave G's exact relationship with United, but I'm fairly certain he is one of the principals in that company. But bare minimum, they distributed all his stuff.
And last week's episode of the TCA and After Show had plenty of barely veiled comments to make it clear he/they are butthurt about it. Okay, so, just so I fully understand, so, United, right? Yes. So, who's interfering with United?
It's Dave? Or is Dave involved? Well, I think they said Dave is involved in United. So, then who's?
Pete Johnson at Tatuaje. So, he's saying that it's Tatuaje. Yes, but he's saying because of the relationship between Pete and alleged Dave Garofalo, that United may have no interest in working with Tatuaje to solve this problem. Because Tatuaje was shit-talking United about stealing their wick thing because they just did those Irish car bombs.
Gotcha, gotcha. Glad I could explain all that for you, Mike. I'll bring you up to speed. But, like, I still, okay, so.
First, Mr. Rowland, thank you for your comment. And anyone who ever has any comments they would like right on the air, please feel free to contact me. Through all of my various social media.
Yeah, just write team and throw it in there. Yeah, just address it to team and then I will make sure that King gets the message. He'll take care of it. Okay, so, I mean, hey, that's very possible, but like still here and again, it's like you can take this beef or whatever the fuck it is and like you can give yourselves both, you know, positive exposure out of it, right?
Hey, listen, we got this back and forth and whatever and like, you know, fucking, I don't want to fight with you. Like, I just want to make money. We won't fucking sell cigars. Like, what the fuck?
What are we doing here? You know what I mean? Let's just fucking... That's what you said last week.
Right. But I'm going back to it. So, like, I'm not saying... Oh, you're saying, please put aside your little petty differences about who invented the wick.
Right. Okay. Like, look, who cares? Like, you know, we're here now.
Like, you know... Everybody's putting wicks on things now. Like, I'm over it. You know, I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I hope you're sorry, too. And whatever. And like, look...
I love you. You love me. Yeah, let's just get past this shit. Cats and dogs living together.
Cats and dogs living together. Yeah. That's right. Ghostbusters I'm quite aware of where the quote comes from Is it true?
It's true, this man has no dick Do you remember that part? Bill Murray's amazing So yeah, I mean like just You know I don't see what the What's the benefit, you know I mean Bam, you gotta go to work There you go, that's all there is to it Bam, you gotta go to work Bam, you gotta go to work Maybe it's more of the Oh yeah, he's really kind of unique. Maybe he's unique and they don't like to work together. Maybe he's unique.
Maybe he's even, you know... You know, why buy stuff from a dick? Maybe he doesn't want to buy stuff from a dick. Okay, are you done hitting the fucking board now?
Yes. I don't know, I just, you know, I'd like to kind of... Look, at the end of the day, the conflict can sell. The conflict could be a reason to produce and could create some marketing.
Yes. That's highly effective. Yes. And then...
Maybe we should have a fight. And then you can men... We'll get more subscribers. Then you guys can kiss and make up and that can help marketing.
You know what I mean? Wait, I got a great idea. I got a great idea. We have a fight on the air.
Next week, you do a show without me. Following week, I do a show without you. My show's gonna sound terrible. I don't know how to do any of those buttons.
I'll sit on the floor and work the buttons. All of a sudden you hear, bam, we gotta go to work. You're like, wait a second. How did that happen?
That's so weird. But no, honestly. We could just turn the cameras. We'll just shoot you.
Look, man. The fact of the matter is, our highest podcasts are the ones that have conflict. Right? Let's start a fight with somebody.
No, no. They naturally happen. God damn it, Mike. I'm tired of your shit.
I'm being serious. Like, that naturally happens. What did that scene you like from the movie? What?
What scene? Where the guy... Pretend we're having a fight? Millions.
Yeah. Yeah. We'll turn the sound off. Pretend we're having an argument.
You wanna tell me why? I'm gonna tell you why! I'm going to make you so rich you can have a second family. No, he already has a second.
A third. Come bonus season, I'm going to show you so much love, you're going to be able to afford a third family. " Get it right. I don't have the script in front of me.
Yeah, me neither. When is the rest of your movie being shot? Well, we were supposed to shoot it on... Easter?
No, we were supposed to shoot it... They're not shooting here now, by the way. They're doing it outdoors here. We were supposed to do it last week or something I had, but I had to go somewhere.
I had to go see my friend, so I had to cancel with them. But, you know, I was just thinking about that and we have to, I got to re-coordinate with them and say, hey, you know, when's a better time and kind of make it happen again. So, yeah, there's that. But, yeah, yeah.
So, you know, and I hate to be the guy that kind of, that had to interject and stop it that one day, you know. Well, you have personal things you have to take care of. Yeah, you know, I always try my best not to have those personal things, but there's just some things that I can't, you can't avoid, you know, somebody's not feeling well or something's going down and, you know, really got to step up and be there for your friends and your loved ones. Right.
Ugh. So, so there's that. Now, we did just, we had, we had Easter. Did you have Easter?
Do you want to talk about Easter at all? We didn't do anything special. We went to the beach for the day, went to the golf cart, go around the city of New Smyrna and had lunch on the beach and we had family in from out of town, so. Did the Easter Bunny come for your kids, or no?
They don't come anymore. My kids are in their 20s. They don't come anymore. No.
I'm waiting on them to start giving me Easter presents. Well, the Easter Bunny came for my kids, obviously. Obviously, you have so much children. And they gave this fucking...
Fortnite's kind of a big deal in my house now. Oh, the game? Yeah, Fortnite. Okay.
And the Easter Bunny left V-Bucks cards in the fucking, in the basket. Yeah? What a pain in the ass, this fucking... V-Cards?
What are V-Cards? I'm not familiar with. So, it's like currency on Fortnite. Oh.
Just specifically that game. Yeah, but it's in a gift card. Right. So, because it's in a gift card, you got to log in under a computer.
Right. And then, type in a code from the gift card. Right. And then, you got to link it up to the, then you got to log in to Xbox.
Oh, what a game it is. It's atrocious. You can't just, the game's just not on? No, you can buy them right on the game, no problem.
Right. But, if the bunny doesn't know that, the bunny's got to give the gift card. Couldn't the bunny have just like sent a check or something? " Yeah, here's the code, here's five dollars.
Hey, I dropped 40 for your dad, you got 40 bucks for you, fucking 20 a kid, you know, whatever. So, cause like, I have two Xboxes, two kids, so it's complicated as shit. I don't know the logins for half of these things. Right.
I'm into the login for one, but I don't have the login for two. You don't want to fuck it up. Oof. Wow.
So, I got a punch in this card. Yes. And, as I punch in the card, I'm like, it doesn't say, like, okay. Like, the okay doesn't light up.
I'm like, what the fuck? Oh, it doesn't say you have successfully entered your V-card. Yeah. I'm like, what the fuck?
I can't figure it out. I'm like, you know what? It sounds like a card divergent to have a V-card. So I'm like, okay, fuck it.
You know what? Here, I'm going to turn on, I'm just going to give you, I'm going to give you $20 and I'll contact the bunny and we'll see what, you know, like, I'll see what we can do. We'll get the 20 bucks back or whatever, blah, blah, blah. You know, you could have called me and go, uh, yes, hello, Easter Bunny.
I would have immediately snapped into a voice. Yeah, I know. I'm sure you would have. Hey.
Hey, how you doing? It's Easter Bunny. What's going on? I'm really tired.
Been hopping around for hours. I'm going to change my emoji, my caller ID to you. The Easter Bunny. It would turn into a bunny, yeah.
Yeah, my kids would be all over my phone at that point. Teddy, whose else number do you have? I've got Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy. Yeah, I got all of them.
Ho, ho, ho, it's Santa! It's the same guy. So, anyways, I just give up, and I put in, I just pay 20 bucks and whatever. All right, here you go, blah, blah, blah.
So, and this is for the little guy, the V-Bucks are gone before I fucking hand him back to me. He's got new clothes and a bigger axe or a hammer, whatever that thing is. " Like, I must have ripped it off when I pulled it or something. So, I punch in his, go through that whole rigmarole, boom, done.
Okay, well now let me look at this one. All right, I think that looks like an X in the middle. So I punch it in. Boom, works.
And then I got to do the whole thing again, blah, blah, blah, and link them up. All right, done. Right. Well, now the big one says to me, but he got an extra 20.
Yeah, I was about to say. So what the fuck? You know, it's like. What is the deal, dad?
I'm like, okay, I'll work it out. He's like, well, when are you going to work it out? I'm like, you know what? I'm going to fucking work it out right now.
Let's get that credit card out there. So fucking. There you go, dad, just charge it to the game. Yeah.
So, so, so now we're fucking $80, $80 into this thing, into the fucking Easter. Wow, they got light up suits on and giant hammers that change colors. Dude, $40 on Fortnite, they burn through it in 10 seconds, 10 seconds. Right, I need this, I need that, I want one of these, some of those.
So we did a little celebration for Jack's because, you know, the Bob, she's in town for Bob's grandma in Polish, so, you know, for Easter, so we did like a little birthday thing. He said, "What do you want to do for your birthday? " He's eight years old. Oh.
Yeah. I heard that wasn't the first choice, though. Yard House or something. Well, we know that he always loves Yard House.
Right. But we couldn't get reservations. Yeah, I tried to work that out for your wife. Right.
So that makes me nervous. " Oh. So yeah, so this is a bougie motherfucker. we take this eight-year-old to fucking Hibachi, you know, and.
Oh, the one right there in. Kobe, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, he had a blast. It was amazing.
This guy. Egg roll and the volcano onion. The fucking chef was nuts. These guys are insane.
I died laughing the entire time. Yeah, they're good. So, you know, then he gets a couple of, you know, so Bobgie gives him money. Uncle Greg gives him money.
Oh, everybody gives him money. The boy Tater gave him money. Oh. So he dropped another 20 on V-Bucks.
Oh, there you go. That's a solid hunch on the day. Ooh. Like, son of a bitch, like, what am I doing, you know, we're doing something wrong here, we're over here dry begging on Patreons and stuff for fucking ten bucks, and we should offer new skins on our Patreons.
Oh, you can dress us up! You can buy clothes for us! That'd be perfect! That'd be amazing!
That's a good name called skins! But yeah, so, uh, that's, but you know, it was the first Easter that we didn't have to cook or anything like that, and... Oh, but that was nice, huh? Dude, it was absolutely amazing!
- Excuse me? - You got anything else? We're 24 minutes? - That was pretty much, you know, that was what I really wanted to address.
- Should we try Scott Pierce again? See if he's still busy? - Scott! Scott, are you there?
Still busy? Terribly busy here, guys, gotta go. - I'm looking at the cameras right now, and Scott is legitimately busy. - Oh, well, that's okay.
He's a very busy man, Scott is. But yeah, so, oh, you know, that was, I mean, that was pretty much it, you know, it was really cool though, so the bunny brought a little water table for Teddy, baby Teddy, and baby Teddy's all about daddy right now, it doesn't matter where I am, whatever, she's like, daddy, I mean, hugs, and I'm like, you keep that up, kid, whatever you want, whatever you want for the rest of your life, you will take priority over the other two, no problem, no questions asked. They'll catch on. The little girl.
Your boys are not slow. They will catch on. The little girl. See, she hugs daddy.
She gets a lot of stuff. Daddy! All the stuff starts coming in. Right.
It's not going to be the same, though. I mean, she's, you know. Well, she's a girl. Yeah.
She'll be daddy's girl. She already is. So, you can play that song when she gets married. Daddy's girl.
Daddy's girl? Jam the dance. No, I feel like... Butterfly Kisses, it's called.
No, I feel like the song should be, you know, like, when we ride on our enemies or something. So the husband knows that I will kill him if shit goes bad. I mean, you know, you're just over here just messing up, right, you know, hey, at least it didn't come through the thing. It didn't.
You're right. But I disconnected it from the board. It's still vibrating. I can feel it vibrating.
My phone doesn't vibrate. Oh, it is. My phone doesn't vibrate normally. All right.
Anything else? We should take a break. I feel like I feel good about this. Let's take a break.
All right, we're gonna take a break and then we'll come back and we'll start the news. We'll be right back and we'll start the news. The news. We'll be right back.

All right, and we're back. Episode 168 of A Cigar Hustler Podcast. You know, with the screen, I've noticed now when I look that way, I look at the screen, not the camera. I feel like we need to take the screen and put it like right under the camera or right behind the camera.
Well, we tried to move it further away because we feel it might be causing some of the interference. But we could put it behind it. That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
I thought you meant like on the little stand there. We really just need to get Greg's desk the fuck out of here. Oh, that's what we need to do, yeah. And then we just have that whole area.
Oh, then we can set it up back there where his screen is. Yeah. Oh, you know, it's a long cord. We could probably set it back there anyway.
I think you should, yeah, we should definitely do that. Put it over there. All right, you ready? Mm-hmm.
Oh my, good sound this time. Cigar Hustler Podcast news. News. The 2021 Pro Cigar 2021 Festival has been canceled, Michael.
Another event. Pro Cigar, which one is that? That is in the Dominican Republic. The 2021 installment of the Pro Cigar Festival has been officially canceled due to the safety restrictions still in place in the Dominican Republic.
Yeah, they've been keeping it really tough down. The organization has initially postponed the event in December 2020, leaving the door open to reschedule it at some point. However, that will not be happening. And no show for you.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel our Pro Cigar Festival 2021. I'm not saying no. We know the decision is disappointing. I'm saying it's not going to happen.
But we hope that everyone can understand that right now our priority is to keep the collaborators and the participants in the event safe, says Hendrix Kellner, president of Pro Cigar, in a press release. Pro Cigar did announce the dates for the 2022 festival, which is scheduled to take place in February of next year, 22 to 25th. Should things continue to improve, as predicted by government entities, the festival runs for about five days, oh, cinco days, beginning in La Romana on the eastern side of the country at Tabla Calera de Garcia, before moving west to Santiago, which is home to the majority of the country's tobacco farms and factories. Guests tour fields and facilities, learn about cigar blending and the production process, and have the opportunity to meet and mingle with manufacturers.
Evenings consist of dinners held throughout the city, including one known as the White Party. Mmm, that's the infamous White Party. Not just for white people, it's everybody wears white. Yes.
Yes. That is held at the Monumento Los Heroes de la... And not okay. No, not okay.
Central Monument in the city. The festival wraps up with a gala dinner featuring an auction of art and cigars, many coming in unique humidors made just for the event. , oh, this is the next story, sorry. Oh.
I was like, why do they have a sheriff named Clovis? So, let's review. Okay. Let's talk about this a little bit.
So, another thing bites the dust. So, the Dominican Republic is definitely tight right now. Yes. Very tight.
A lot of restrictions. I did see Rafael Nodal is on his way there this morning. Yeah. People are still, the cigar people are trying to go back to the country to make these cigars.
There's a lot of distancing. There's a lot of shutting down. Oh, he had on a regular N95. There's specific hours.
High-quality, regular masks. That shit is crazy. I will tell you this though, I did schedule to get my, I pre-registered to get my vaccine. Oh, you did?
Yeah. Oh. Yeah. And I don't want to hear it from anybody.
I don't fucking care what you think about the vaccine or not. You know, I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing it for everybody else. Is your whole family getting it, just you? Not the kids.
Well, no, obviously the kids. Is your wife going with you? Yeah. Now, we have, we have several friends together.
We have four close friends that just got it. They got it. Two of them got knocked out for two days with high fevers. They're about my age.
And then Adam and Melissa got it. They got their second shot Friday. They were knocked out all day Saturday with a low-grade fever and flu-like symptoms. Hey, you know, I'm willing to do it.
If it means that we can get back to normal, I'm willing to do it. I'm willing to do my part for you. Oh, thank you. Because I don't want you to die.
I'm not going to die. You're old. I already had it. Allegedly.
Allegedly. But supposedly you can get it twice. I like to get things early, get it out of the way. I like being first.
Yeah, but then when you get it, apparently you can get it again. Nah, not me. Not you? Nah.
Oh, you're special. I ain't special. Father time just gets it the once? Far bigger things than COVID have tried to kill me over the years.
Well, for me, I scheduled. Good for you. Yeah. Good for you.
I'm going to get it done. Which one are you getting? They asked me if I wanted to pick. I'm like, I don't give a fuck.
Just fucking just do it. You getting the single or the double? The Johnson & Johnson? I heard the Johnson & Johnson's not really circulating in Florida.
Oh, I heard it's not as resistant, it's in like the '70s. Yeah, I don't care. I don't care, here's what I care about, I care about me getting the vaccine so that I can keep other people safe. Because I've been living my life this entire time.
Yeah, you know what, New Smyrna, nobody had masks on anywhere. Well, the servers at the restaurants did, but nobody, not in the, I mean, very few people on the street, Nobody in the shops, I wear my mask at Publix, I wear my mask at Costco, I listen to the guidelines of the people, I pay attention to the little stickers on the floor, but as far as the gym's concerned, I walk in wearing the mask, and then I take off the mask, and then I put the mask on. You know what, that's probably the worst one for you. Which one?
The gym? A lot of heavy breathing. A lot of heavy breathing, a lot of grunting, a lot of sweat flying around, spit, spittle, and Our gyms have been open since April of last year. Oh no, I completely understand.
And I have been living my life. I can't, I, you know, you see the pictures of the people working out with the mask on, it seems really hard. Who wants to do that? Dude, I've, like.
And most of them have the, um, the gator one, which is supposedly the worst mask you could wear anyway, it stops nothing. Yeah, yeah. So like, I, but, you know, leaving the gym, I feel like we just want to take the, like, I'll put it on, because you gotta go up the stairs, and this is after legs, and this is like, you're dying. Like, I just don't want this on me right now.
Yeah. I don't take it off. Uh, they're talking about not making schools where as of, uh, sometime in May, there's one guy on the school board wants to just do away with the things. Yeah.
He said it's hard for the little kids to keep them on anyway, and it's hard to police them, make them leave them. Well, I mean, here's the real reality when it comes to schools, okay? Yes. They put them for the fucking masks on.
Right. And then it's recess time. They don't wear the masks at recess. Oh, well, yeah, you have small guys, but my wife's school, everybody wears a mask the minute they walk in.
Even at recess? Well, they don't have recess, they're in high school. Oh. Okay.
But they have stopped taking temperatures when people come in. Yeah. Because when she had her cold, she went in. I go, did they take your temperature?
Did you pass the thing? She goes, I didn't take my temperature. They didn't fuck with you. Okay.
So did anybody say anything? She goes, nobody even came to saw me. Nobody knew I was sick. Nobody knew.
So not only that. She had laryngitis. How can they not know? But hey, but listen, not only that, but these kids are getting together after school.
Yeah, I know. Like we're not going to. Oh, no, no. We're back into hunkering down.
Like nobody does that. So if one kid gets - Do your kids have like a certain group they always play with though? Yeah. Has there been any agreement that we just play with each other?
No, no, no, no. No? We still have football. We've had football this whole time.
Oh, that's right. They ain't wearing masks. Yeah, no, not a football. Well, it's not like anybody can touch Jackson anyway.
Yeah, that's right. He's putting, he's giving out ankle applications. That's right. There's some scouts watching him now.
Oh yeah. He's, uh. For arena football. Number, oh.
Not arena. Come on. Try and start him slow, Michael. No, we've got to go right in the NFL.
Oh, right up. Yeah, he's going to start tomorrow. All right. Next story.
Yes. The next story. Prometheus has announced that it has begun shipping the Fuente Fuente Opus X Heaven and Earth Rare Black Double Corona. Fuente Fuentes.
It's a long ass name. I hope it's a big box. Fuente Fuentes. It is the second size for the Rare Black line, joining the original 6x7, 8x44 size, which is a company he's referring to as the Rare Black Torpedo.
The new Vitola is announced as part of the 2020 release, but did begin shipping until now. Didn't begin shipping until now. It has a manufacturer's suggestion at a retail price of $65 a cigar. It's sold in boxes of 10, which the company refers to as a travel humidor.
The blend of the Rare Black has not been disclosed. Magic. It's got magic in there. The Rare Black is part of the entire Funti Age selection, a partnership between Arturo Fuente and Prometheus, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of...
What? So it's a Prometheus product? Yes, I was right at the beginning. Prometheus is announced.
Do you not listen to me at all? I don't know. I'm not getting that one. That guy hates me.
Maybe we should put my name on some things, the people that don't like you. You know what? I just get invited to the cathedral thing. Is he going to be there?
Should I talk to him? Good luck. I'm the new owner of Cigar Hustler. Here's my card.
I mean, you can try. Let's see. Let's see, the prize donated to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which supports a school, medical clinic, and the other programs in the Dominican Republic. Yep.
We're not getting that one, huh? Nope. Why does he hate you? What did you do?
I don't know. It was so weird. I don't know. It was so weird.
I don't know how it played out, but he was very angry with me when he walked away. I don't know what I did. " I'm like, I don't know, well, I'm glad that you saw it, because I don't know what the fuck happened either. Maybe we'll talk to him next week.
Mmm. Oh, okay, good luck with that. Oh, I can get anybody on the phone, Michael. I just need 10 minutes to set it up.
I'll be right back. We can talk to him right now, hold on. Faxing, America Online, noise in the background. That was his fax machine, PCA got a fax machine.
Cuba's hosting the Habano's World Day next month. New Cohiba's coming. Oh, Cuba doesn't give a shit about the virus. Like, there's a virus in Cuba?
We fixed it. Typically, Habano's SA announces most of the new Cuban cigars for a given year during its annual Festival de Habano, hosted in Havana each February. This year, the event was canceled due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, so the company is hosting a virtual event called... Oh, it's virtual.
Okay, they do care. Do they have Wi-Fi in Cuba? Oh, yeah, of course. Habano's World Day.
Next month, this marks the 55th anniversary of Cohiba as such. Much of Habano's World Day is dedicated to the brand. m. With a welcome from Habano's SA co-president, there are a total of five events scheduled for Tuesday.
What the hell are you doing over there? That endangered whiskey! I forgot my jug or my cup. I have the large breakdown of everything that's going on every 15 to 45 minutes, apparently.
So if you're American, you're allowed to watch that? Yes, if you register. How is that okay? Like, we have this whole thing where we're not supposed to trade with them or whatever.
Well, this isn't a trade. This is a TV show. We're allowed to watch what they do? It's a TV show.
But all you're doing is promoting the products that they sell. I'm just trying to see where the line is. I'm not saying I agree with it. I'm not saying I disagree with it.
I just want to know where the fucking line is. Let's see. m. There's a welcome at 8:45.
There's a show. Oh, you can win prizes. Oh! How does that work?
Apparently they can't ship them to us. m. is the opening of the virtual trade show. m.
is also a press conference. m. there's a presentation of the DuPont articles. DuPont can do business there?
Yeah, they're not. Luxurious contributions. Yeah, they're not American. Oh, that's right, they're German, that's right.
At 10:30 there's... They are Pampas. I am asked to the punt. At 10:30 they're gonna pair...
Some lighters made in China, but they're German. Are they German? I feel like they're French. DuPont?
I think it's German. If only there was a device. There's really a lot going on. We don't fucking fact check.
Yeah, who cares? Let's see, Estee DuPont. Alright, we gotta keep moving. Gotta keep the show moving, Michael.
I'm gonna figure out what country Estee DuPont is. Stogie Rose! It's French! It's not German.
Okay, then we'll just do a different accent. Oh, I am Estee DuPont, I make my lighters in China. We don't like America, French fries, French bread, French toast, we like it all. French letter?
French letter. Made in China? Made in China. Not German.
We make a letter for you here! Oh my god, we're just gonna insult everybody. You French man, we like you very much, we make letter. Okay.
Good for you. Stogie Road is moving production to Tabla Calera Nuevo Nica Esse. I don't know what that means. Stogie Road Cigars will be moving production to Tabla Calera Nuevo Nica Esse.
The Nuevo Nikas, the factory owned by Chris Webber of Veritas Cigars. Earlier this year, the company said that it was leaving Debal Calera Cafe, which made the company cigars for two years, but didn't announce where the new home would be. As it turns out, they're making them in Nicaragua now. "It will be a long period of time than initially expected where product is not available except for what is remaining on the store shelves," said Cary Horny, owner of Stogie Road in a press release.
We're making them somewhere else. We're not going to tell you, but you're making them here. Stuggy Row, continue to bruise the same lines, which are all offered in a 6x50 Vitola and a barber pole wrappers. The Stuggy Row portfolio includes Blatty Blatty Blatty, Big Tony, Sweet Grace Gringo, and Sandella.
The company says it tends to keep the price the same between 9 and 12. That was as of April 1st, 2021. So, last week, you told me about the list of on Half Wheel of people on TBE. " Did he answer?
" That article kind of reminded me of that. " Oh, well, we haven't had a chance to do the press release yet that I have planned for that. Yeah, official press release. Yes.
We all hide in the bathroom. Super busy. Don't give away. No, no, no, no.
Sorry, sorry. Actually, we can do that after this. You're going to have Scott? Scott Pierce?
We're going to call Scott Pierce again. All right. Oh, and thank goodness for this next story. PCA hires Glenn Loop, estate advocacy director.
I told you. I already knew. It's so weird that Scott had no idea about that. Nobody tells him anything.
Yeah, you know. He hadn't punched in yet. He's waiting on him to show up. There's so much going on.
There's so much going on, he doesn't know. Glenn Lupe is the new Director of State Advocacy for the Premium Cigars Advocation Association, PCA, and apparently working by the hour. He hasn't punched it yet. He had been serving his advisory for the State Government Affairs for organizations this November.
Hey, Scott, clock in, will you? Oh, see, now he was into a full-time role, so he's actually punching in now. Prior to his work at the PCA, Mr. Lupe spent over a decade as the Director of the Cigar Rights of America, Different Cigar Industry Trade Group.
We could not be more excited to have Glenn Lube join us as we shore up. I make myself laugh. I don't care about anybody else. Finish the story.
We could not be more excited. My eyes are watering. Shore up our government affairs team, said Scott Pierce, executive director of PCA, and a very busy man, apparently. A very busy man.
In a press release. Oh, I got answers. Email. You don't understand what's involved in setting up all this stuff.
You don't understand what's involved in setting up all this for you. Yeah, I understand. He had to steal his daughter's phone. The background.
Glenn brings an enormous amount of experience, industry, and knowledge, and political know-how, and email, and faxing, and answering doors. That will be a major boom for us as we increase our product. Oh, my God. The cigar industry is crashing down and blowing over flames, and we're just here fucking laughing about it.
That's amazing. Oh my God. We increase our product, proactify, wait till I tag him on the intro, then he goes and watches the show. Yeah, he's going to comment.
Hey, that wasn't me, but that's really accurate. But that is totally how I live my life. Joshua Habersky had been serving as the PCA's head of government affairs for both state and federal issues. I would first like to offer a sincere thank you to Joshua Habersky, who has shouldered both federal and federal issues, Shouldered both federal and state responsibilities over the past year.
It's done such a great job that we haven't lost a step in time, said John Anderson, president of the PCA. Oh, they hired Scott Pierce, too. They had more than one. John Anderson.
So now, thanks to some generous donations. Sounds like there's a team over there at PCA, I don't know. Oh, now they've got three. Maybe, maybe it might be more.
I'm gonna need two more people for next week's show. Hey, it's me, John. It's me. I want you to know, I was in the back room where Scott was answering the phone.
Scott, can you pass the phone to John. John, you sound the same as Scott. I don't know, I can arrange this. It's right after the meeting.
Hello, it's me. As we continue to progress. Wow, it sounds like Danielle. It sounds really funny.
That sounds great. Our advocacy programs, our members can be assured that we will continue to be an ever more productive voice for the industry and call-ins to various podcasts. Alright, Florida news, Michael! Yes!
This is the best part of the show! The Florida Central Railroad reported a break-in to one of their locomotives parked in Newberry. The discovery of the break-in occurred Monday, but it's suspected- Podcasting is a dangerous game. Happened sometime between 324 and 328.
The locomotive was described as a 1959 EMD GP18. Railroad officials advised that the locomotive was locked and suspects potentially gained entry through a window. Once inside, the locomotive was driven on tracks in the area. During the joyride, two switches valued at $30,000 each were damaged.
So wait a second. So they stole the... They stole the choo-choo. They stole the whole fucking thing.
They stole the engine. It's not like you can turn left or something. Well, they went right through these two switches and damaged them. $60,000 in damage.
At this time, no suspect information is available. That's not like an insurance fluff fucking claim. Anyone with information is asked to call 352-955-1818. That is a real number.
Please do not joke. Call them. Callers can also remain anonymous by calling. I'm not even giving this one out because all you slapdicks will call them.
tv and be eligible for a reward from Crimestockers. So, but come on. A switch is 30 G's? 30 G's.
Oh, that one's broken. The thing that switches the tracks, those are expensive. Oh. It's not like a light switch on the wall.
Oh, it's like a... They switched tracks. So instead of switching tracks, they must have just went right through. That's amazing.
Let's get this train going. Put the coal in. Let's get this thing going fast. Come on, Phil.
Fill it up. Let's go. We've got to reach 88 miles an hour to go through time. We've got to reach 88 miles an hour.
Oh, they do have a time machine in the train. There you go. Flux capacitor. Flux capacitor and the choo-choo.
All right. Two more. We have two more Florida stories this week. Oh, you got a couple.
Yes, we have three. Oh, I love a good Florida story. There's a good ones. We're the only free state left.
That's true. Yeah. So we're hanging on. It just got freer, Michael.
It did? Thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis. My guy. He's issued an executive order.
I like this guy. I need to look that way. I like this guy. All right.
He's a good egg. Friday. I hope he runs for president. Friday, effective immediately, he bans businesses from requiring customers to show proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to get service.
That's right. That's right, because it's wrong. It's not make America great against. Because it's fucking wrong.
It's not make America great. It's make America Florida. The executive order also bans government agencies from issuing these vaccine passports and argues that it required such proof would create two classes of citizens based on vaccinations. Yep.
DeSantis has directed state agencies that regulate bars, restaurants, hospitals, and nursing homes to ensure that businesses are complying with the order. Any business in violation will not be eligible for grants or contracts funded with state tax dollars. That's right. That's right, DeSantis.
If you make these rules and we're going to kick them the fuck out. If you would like to call us next week, Governor DeSantis. Come on, leave the poor guy alone. The guy has been fucking navigated the shit out of this.
Let him be. Oh, he's got a new baby. He's calling the show. Oh, he is.
Okay. Oh, okay. Just thought of that one. All right.
Now, from West Melbourne, Florida, police say a host of city ordinances regulating adult entertainment were violated Thursday night during an all-male review. They raided the Westside Sports Bar Grill, New Six Partner, Florida Today reported. Now, if you'll remember, we reported on this, This was several months ago. He's the bar that says if you wear a mask he will not serve you.
Oh. This is that gentleman. Okay. This guy's making the news again.
Undercover agents with body cameras attended the male strip show at 3026 West New Haven Drive. Okay. Thursday night, the bar's owner, 31-year-old Gary Kirby, is accused of knowingly and illegally operating the strip show after being cautioned by police in the past. They said, listen, you got to keep the dicks fucking tucked away.
So this is not his first time. Yeah, he's a professional. Professional. No masks.
No pants. No pants. No pants. Oh, they were flyers.
I was going to say, no banana hammers. Flyers advertising the show on Facebook invited attendees to come to the mail review featuring the men of Utopia. Oh. And touted glamour shots of muscular-looking performers who were expected to be dancing in the review.
Uh-huh. So, where were you this weekend, Michael? Uh, I was at, uh... You were not here Friday.
Is this why? I was in South Florida. Maybe I was. Are you one of the men of Utopia?
Oh, possibly you. Are you one of the men of Utopia? You never know. If I had a thought about this, we'd have a magic white poster this week.
Wouldn't you like to know? During the performance, the dancers reportedly violated various city rules against giving lap dances, displaying nudity, which would be their dicks, and touching customers in certain areas of their bodies. Oh, no touching. Touch my body.
No touching. According to the arrest affidavit, city ordinances banning the display of male genitals were also violated. So wait. There is a separate, you cannot be nude, or display genitalist, so there's a difference apparently.
Can't bust the nuts out. Can't bust, is that just a genitalist, not the stick and the balls? Genitalist? I don't know.
It's genitals, balls, or dicks, or both. Who knows? Because I'm confused now, there's two separate rules. One, you cannot be nude, and one, you cannot have your dick out.
Genitalia defined, let's ask Google. All right, I will go on with you, look that up. Westside Sports Bar & Grill has received support and ridicule on social media for making strong anti-mask, Post, going as far as host his anti-lockdown party on St. Patrick's Day, and saying that no mask or social distancing would be allowed inside the establishment.
That's the whole package. The whole package. Oh, so that's odd. Yep.
Maybe nudity applies to women's boobies? Nope. Nope. After being taken into custody, Kirby told officers that he knew the performance was illegal and that he exchanged emails with the police in the past who let him know that hosting the performance was illegal according to the Avenue.
" And you can't stop me. That's right, you can't stop me. And they're not wearing masks either on their dicks. No masks.
Lots of dicks. Mr. Kirby was booked at the Brevard County Jail and has since been released on a $250 bond. That was it, $250, huh?
$250. He's being charged with operating an adult entertainment establishment in violation of municipal ordinances. I feel like if you're going to make a splash of I'm going to refuse anybody that's wearing a mask. Like, you kind of want to lay low for a little bit.
You don't want to just say, you know, like a few weeks later, say hey. Maybe we'll have Mr. Kirby on the show next week. Oh, man, you're going to have a lot of people.
That'd be nice. No, no, we have to break this up. I can't. I'll have to see who's available, Mr.
Kirby or Mr. DeSantis. I feel Kirby might be more available. Interesting.
Yes. That might be funnier. That might be funnier. I have to see how this all pans out.
See how it all goes. All right, that's all I got. All right, well, you have the winner for the-- Oh, yes, and the winner. Uh-huh.
Oh, we didn't give Mr. Pierce's gong, so we'll give the gong to-- because he was very busy. We didn't have time to do it. Oh.
You're just so excited. So we'll give the winner the gong. So we had 23 people entered into the contest. We did a random number generator.
I wrote down all the names in a random order. Michael did the random number generator. I did. So there was no way that I could have influenced who won.
We kept this as legit as possible. I'm going to tell you that that was awesome. It was like super easy for me. Yes.
And I appreciate that. Oh, you're really welcome. You're a hell of a team. I'm the team.
That's right. I'm the team. He had it all set up. " Here's the winner.
So, the number that was chosen was number 18. And the 18th entry on the- On your paper? On my paper, was, turn the volume up. Mr.
John Yogerlite! Yes! So, John, congratulations on- I don't know if he has a hat or not. If he does, then we'll do a redraw.
I don't think so, because he, in his comment, he did say a size and color, I believe. He did, but he could've just been being a smart ass. He could've just been being a smart ass, so, ooh, my thumb just snapped. But when he listens.
When he listens, John, contact me, as we chit-chat every week, and just let me know. Reach out. Reach out, let me know, and then... Reach out and touch Mike.
Yes. Reach out and touch Mike. And then, if so, we will pick another one, and we will announce that next week. Yeah, we're gonna do a $25 gift card this time.
All you got to do is like, subscribe, and comment on the upcoming, on this episode, 168. 168, and we'll do it the same way. I'll write down all the names in random order, then you generate a number, and boop. And then we'll email the gift card, and you can do whatever you want with it.
Right. So what is this cigar we're doing again today on the Patreon? Ooh, we didn't even talk about that. We just moved right along.
Are we going to do the one, or the one that's in here? I don't know. What do you want to do? I think we should do...
Out there? All right. We're going to do the vents. We're going to do the vents from the Privada Club.

Blackbird. Blackbird. Thunderbird. Blackbird cigars.
That's all the information we have that we are giving here, at least. So this is it, because I don't know if this is going to go off or not. So thank you for listening. It's been episode 168 with Mr.
Scott Pierce. Yeah, from BZA. So, thank you very much, and we'll see you next week. Bye.

for all new episodes. Hi, I'm doing, I'm Hoostoe-Raw. Yeah, we just don't have to do a single, uh, single podcast ever again. Perfect.
I'm good, Mike and Mike. How are you guys doing? The Hojo, the... Hojo!
It's the Hojo! He didn't even let him fuck it up all the way. I gotta get past Hojo! I don't even have to try anything.
He's not even gonna try. We're going to cover a lot of ground here, Mike. All right. Try to keep up.
That's a sign of a good podcast. It'd be like four cigars when I walked in a door. All right, end this.
