231 Cigar Hustlers Podcast Road head

Episode Summary
Episode 231 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with Mike and Mike bantering about the buildout of their new Mike & Mike Productions studio space — rental contracts, Peerspace listings, signage, security cameras, and Phil's enthusiastic (and expensive) shopping habits. Mike also walks through his daily cigar rotation, starting mornings with a BDP or Eastern Standard (Brotherly Kindness and the Grand Perfecto are favorites), moving into Shepherd, Oscuro-side smokes, Aquitaine and Cranium midday, and closing out with Guayacan and Neanderthal.
The news block covers Habanos S.A.'s global pricing standard hitting Spain, where more than 300 SKUs of Cuban cigars — especially Cohiba and Trinidad — saw price increases effective June 4th as distributors align to Hong Kong pricing, following a similar list out of Germany. The hosts also run through Southern Draw's Firethorn Augusto going regular production at $9.99 (an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper over Mexican San Andrés binder with Nicaraguan fillers), Drunk Chicken Cigars bringing back the Homicidal Hen limited edition for a third year at $14, Viaje's Private Keep Lemon plus the return of Summerfest and Birthday Blend, Ace Prime's PCA exclusive María Lucía honoring Luciano Meirelles' family story, Bellado Premium Cigars (formerly La Barba) debuting the value-priced Knockaround line under Tony Bellatto, and Big Sky Cigar Company's Cryptid and El Profesor.
The centerpiece is Pospiech's The Shepherd, the collaboration with Matt Booth of Room 101 — a 5 3/4 x 50 robusto extra, $14, limited to 10,000 cigars, with a deliberately non-disclosed blend (the press release jokes the filler is "leprechaun magic with a dash of fairy dust") and an Ezekiel 25:17 band signed by both Booth and Mike Szczepankiewicz. The hosts push back on half wheel's Charlie Minato for editing their press release and needle the industry habit of blend disclosures that factories can't always guarantee. Orders began shipping the prior Friday, with reorders already coming in alongside the Powstanie Kraft release.
Rounding out the show: PCA 2022 travel logistics (booth 660, next to Howard G), PCA's new microsite for public comment on the FDA's proposed flavored cigar ban, a Florida story about a Fort Lauderdale head-on collision involving a sex act, Listener of the Week Cigarosaurus Rex, and Shop of the Week Lake Country Cigars for placing the first Shepherd order.

Can I do it this week, Mike? Nah. You want me to do it? You want me to do it?
You want me to do it? I'll do it. I feel like you're, uh, you're angry today, so. You too, get part of our podcast family and invest in our show.

Good job, Phil.
Good job, Phil. So, Phil, Phil is a basketball champion? Yes, well, Steven Hippelhauser is, that's a different person. Oh yeah, Steven Hippelhauser is a basketball champion.
Not Phil. Not Phil. Not our cameraman. Not our cameraman, Phil.
He, I went. Yes, you did. And saw, I witnessed greatness. Oh, look at you.
And you weren't there. No, no, I didn't go. I went to a different game. Therefore, I am the better friend now.
Oh, okay. You're the better friend. I'm the better friend. I was when it mattered.
Where were you? Where were you? Oh, sure. Everybody goes jump on the bandwagon at the end when they're winning.
I went. You jumped off the bandwagon. I went when they lost. When I went, they lost.
And you didn't stick with it. See what happened? You're like, losers. Right.
And you're like, they're going to lose a championship. We don't all have the life of leisure like you do, Michael. We can just go to Universal, go water sliding, go to basketball games, go to concerts. If anybody has the life of leisure, it would definitely be you.
Oh, you know how much time I spend in these two little rooms now trying to get this thing up and running? Because you like this. No, I'm feeling the pressure of this. You're feeling the pressure?
Yes, feeling the pressure. What's the pressure? This little place has to make money. Let's talk about this.
You know what I'm talking about this? What's the pressure? This place has to make money. For what?
We have bills to pay now. Who gives a fuck? Well, the power company probably would. We got enough to cover the electric.
Now? Yeah. We probably have enough to cover the electric and the internet. Okay.
So we're not paying rent? Listen. Listen. You want me to handle things, I'll handle things.
That's our biggest expense of the rent. If it's not, you know, I don't want you to be stressed out. I'm already stressed out. Well stop being fucking stressed out.
No. Just do it. Daddy will take care of it. Just do it.
No, this place has to make, I want this place to make money. It will. It's a business. Okay, it should, but it should never stress you the fuck out.
Oh, it's too late. Well, I can see it all over your face. I know. I didn't sleep at all last night.
You're fucking. Today was, we worked up, well, we haven't done it yet, but I've worked up all the pricing for the rental things. We signed up on Peerspace today, which is a company that provides clients to rent the space out. Really?
Yes. Look at you. So what the fuck are you worried about? Beautiful baby.
I kept writing the contract in my head last night at 3 o'clock in the morning. And I still haven't got that finished yet. You're so stressed. Bro.
Calm down, Jules. Jules. Who's Jules? I'm on the motherfucker.
That's Pulp Fiction. Oh. Oh, now it's all about December. Oh, you're smoking a BDP.
It's nice. I had one today too. Look, you know, dude, I start my morning, the routine is still the same, right? Like the number one cigar that I start to smoke in the day is gonna be the BDP.
The number two cigar, if I don't want to smoke the BDP, it's gonna be an EC. It's gonna be the Brotherly Kindness or the Grand Perfecto. I fucking love that Grand Perfecto. So, you know, that's how I start my day.
This is how I start my day. Now, Shepard, and, you know, Ostanya, and Aquitaine, and Cranium, and all those things come in midday, and then we finish off days with Guaymaros and Neanderthals. Like, this system isn't really going to change that. I don't give a fuck what comes out.
I may smoke, you know, new cigars come out all the time, and I'm like, yeah, that's a good cigar. To fucking, at this point of the game, at 13 years in, I'm kind of setting my way in. I have my routine. I like to mix it up.
I mix it up a little bit. I like to mix it up myself. Do you? Yeah.
It's like eating a hamburger every day. I could eat a fucking hamburger. If it's a good hamburger. Well, yeah.
I mean, food's food at this point. It's just something that keeps you alive. But I mean. That's an interesting thing.
I mean, I would say that that's more. That's more you with your chicken and rice every single day. Well, rice. No, it's just chicken.
Oh. I thought that was. It depends upon what I'm doing. It depends upon the bulk, or the cut, or all that shit.
Except now you have to cut back, because it's a mere accident. Well, first of all, we didn't mention that on the show, so let's not mention it. I thought we did. No, we mentioned it on the Patreon.
Oh, there was no accident. I thought you did. No. I don't think it was mentioned on the show.
I thought you did. I'm pretty sure it was Patreon. I know we did there. Yeah.
I did here too, and I... Oh, I'm pretty sure the only people that spoke to me about it were people from Patreon. Oh. Let's watch the smoke, see if it goes.
It's moving. It's moving. It's moving that way. Okay, so you're stressed out about this.
I don't see why, like, look, just put in, you know, do what you keep doing, but don't, don't be fucking stressed. Do they? Just the way I am, Michael. When this thing gets up and running, and it's, it's going, and stuff's happening, then I'll relax.
Things are all, things are going in the right direction. Well, I know, but they're not done yet. We're never done. Go look upstairs.
We're not even fucking, go look at the shop and tell me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I understand. It's 13 years running. I can't work with the chaos, Michael.
What do you mean you can't work with the chaos? I can't work with the chaos. This place has to keep moving. This place is moving.
I know. So just go on to something else. I'm not going on to something else. This is, this is an interesting, this is...
Oh, he's, he's, man, did you replace the sign? Yeah, yeah, I don't know. So we have this beautiful sign. This Mike & Mike production sign.
If you go to Mike & Mike production on Facebook, you can see the sign. I put a picture up today. And it has, it's got, it's wonderfully red, it's got a red light on it, and somebody fucking nudged the other one, and it's got this little dink on it. You can't even tell that this, you can tell, and you can tell because you guys fucking know that it's there, but no one else would have recognized this.
Does it light up? That one? No, it would have still, yes. It doesn't, at this point, he had to take the Transformers off for that one.
So it just needs Transformers? Yeah, and it'll light up too. Bumblebee or Optimus Prime? Which one are we talking about?
Uh, um, the other guy. Shockwave? Shockwave, yeah. Yeah, Shockwave?
Shockwave. I mean, so we can get the couple Transformers. The Transformers aren't that expensive. No, no, it's already wired up and everything.
Just, I mean, I'm sure- Dude, that thing's mint. What? Oh, put it in our conference room. It's all blue in there, that's red.
So it'll stand out, it'll look nice. You can't do that. We can. We just don't tell Craig.
I think that that thing's badass. I mean, it's got a little nick. So, who the fuck paid for that? Oh, we paid for this one.
Right. See, this is the thing. This is the problem with fucking Phil. Give me a camera one.
This is the problem with Phil, okay? Phil doesn't know when to stop hitting the fucking button and buying more shit for this place. Right? Back to the camera two.
We put a mirror in the bathroom today. This fucking worked. Dude, you put a mirror in the bathroom? Yeah, we had to have a mirror.
What if somebody comes in, they're using that, and they want to check their hair or something before they go on camera for the other room? They have an iPhone. We gotta have a mirror. You can't have a bathroom without a mirror.
You guys are out of your fucking minds. There has to be a mirror in the bathroom. Like, I'm a big believer in buying something and doing it right. I have no problem with that.
Well, we didn't get a team mirror. Well, it was inexpensive, but it matches the room. It matches the room. I mean, but like you, first of all, you take this, you, Phil, the new Mike and Mike Reductions partner, take this shit to the next level and it's out of fucking control.
You need to stop. All right? Like we, we are going to sit down here and have a fucking meeting and we're going to talk about your expenditures and there will be no additional contributions and there'll be no fucking further donations. Like we will shut you the fuck down.
I don't want it. Like, you know, you're just making it worse for him. I don't care. Do whatever the fuck you want.
But you're just going to stress him out even more. You understand that, right? You don't think that you're stressing him out by buying more shit? Is he stressing you out by buying more shit?
No, I bought, we got another one of these out there now. I bought, I bought that though. I paid for that. Did we pay for it?
No, I had to, I had to buy that. Okay, well then that needs to show as a debt that the business needs to pay back. Like you guys can't, like, it can't be fuckery. How's that fuckery?
You can't just throw, continue to fucking, look, you're going to make this a disaster. Both of you. We believe. That's fine to believe.
We believe. You guys are fucking killing me. You're the polar opposite of upstairs. And you know what?
I don't know which one's worse, to be honest. Oh, Greg's buying the shelving unit of the cheapest price guaranteed ever. The lowest fucking price ever. And you guys are out here buying new fucking Rodecaster Pros and fucking redoing lights that don't need to be redone because of a fucking nick.
Mike and Nick. These are the cheapest shelves you could possibly buy, sir. I mean, jeez. If one of you guys pulls up with a Ferrari under the corporate car, I swear to God.
Well, you were going to get a, what kind of car was that you were going to get? Which one? For the company. Oh, the Range Rover.
The Range Rover. Well, I can't buy a Roadcaster Pro, but you're buying a Range Rover? Well, I saw, first of all, it wouldn't be my productions thing, but I saw that Range Rovers are a tax deduction. It's a big enough car, right?
Which is fucking retarded! Oh, it is. That law came into effect a while ago, and everybody was buying Hummers and stuff back then. So, first of all, no, I did not, no matter what the write-off is, I mean, there needs to be justification for that write-off.
Well, you'd have to put the name of the company on the car. Are you sure about that? I don't think that's necessary on that vehicle. It'll be easier when you get audited, though.
Well, for one, the company can't afford it, so... Oh, yeah, that's true. So that kind of defeats the whole thing, you know? Yeah, so like...
Get your own Chevelle. Yo, look, please, guys, just fucking chill a little bit. This is, we got a cool spot here, okay? Things look nice, okay?
Stop. I know, I feel like you're just looking through me. Just stop. There's nothing else we need at this point.
Oh, Steve, the door, look at him. Well, no, we have it, it's next door. We just haven't installed it yet. You guys...
'Cause we have to get this electrical done and then there's an inspection and then the door can go up. You guys... It's a soundproof door, it's a nice door. Fucking killing me.
Fucking killing me. So, what'd you do this weekend, Michael? I have no fucking idea at this point now. I don't even know what I did.
We put sod in the backyard. Did you? I hate sod now. What'd you do?
The Bahia, the Florida side. Oh, the cheap bullshit? Yeah, and we put two pallets of sod in the backyard. I hate Bahia.
It's like a weed. It's nasty. Can you put that in the ash right on the floor? Sure.
Thank you. That's what I was going to do. Thank you. No, no, you're sweeping it into the floor.
On your new mat that you had to have. I don't know, but the mat works fantastic, by the way. Good, I'm glad. It scuffed already.
So I guess I'm also guilty for some degree. Yeah, it was a $40 mat. It's not that expensive. And the company paid for that.
As it should have. Yes. As the company should pay for all the things. Well, they do a majority of the things.
No, but you can't just say, eh, this too. Like, okay, we're supposed to be past those days. Like, we've done that. You know, we've done that.
Yes, yes, yes, yes. We have done that. Yes, yes, I know. For years, we did that.
Right. And then we just kind of, we level up a little bit. Right. And then it's supposed to kind of sustain on its own.
Well, we leveled up well, and then we took a drastic uptick, and now we're adding a couple more little things. a thing that you two are into called aggressive expansion. Fuel the growth, Wiggo. We're fueling the growth.
Alright, so then fire Jack Taranio. Yeah, we're going to fire Jack. And ask Eric Espinosa to send the check for his salary. And fuel our growth.
Fuel the growth. Jack Taranio. You know? I don't, you know, what did I do?
Some party or something. Yeah, there was a summer party for like all the kids. Football kids? No, no, no.
Oh, the school. School, yeah. Oh, school kids. Is this the one where you worked the money and the fan thing last year?
No, no, they didn't do that last year. The carnival. They didn't do that last year. This was just like a neighborhood thing.
Oh. Just a group of them get together. No, no, Brittany's become good friends with Sheila, and Sheila and Patrick throw this party for all three of their kids, like a summer opening thing. Oh, nice.
Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yeah, sound fancy. It's actually really nice. They're really nice.
Was there lobster? No, there was no lobster. Was there crab? There was no crab.
Stone crab? Just the claws? No stone crab. I'll let Patrick know.
What did they serve? And Patrick's a good guy. Is he the foot guy? What?
The foot doctor? No. Just curious. No, that's Chris.
Oh. That's Chris. Oh, all the doctors we know named Chris. No, we know Steve.
Oh, that's true. That's Dr. McCaskill. Yeah.
A cardiologist. A cardiologist. But he's a dermatologist. Oh yeah, I'm in dermatologist.
Same, it's practically the same thing. It's practically the same thing. One's on the inside, one's on the outside. So yeah, we did that, and then we went to the bay on Sunday, a little volcano bay action.
Oh, and the kids have red hair now? Yes. Is that for the Buccaneers, or just red hair time? No, no, no, he wanted to dye his hair, it's summertime, you know.
Oh, because he had Buccaneer shirts on. He likes the Bucs. I know, that's what I thought of before. He looks like Heatmiser.
Who's Heatmiser? You do not look at your own wife's Facebook post? I did see that. Is that who that is?
The Santa Claus thing? Yeah, it's from one of the Santa Claus Claymation movies. Yeah, we talked about it. But I didn't realize that that was the name.
What happened? Are we recording still? Yeah, we just got a weird email. I don't know what that was.
We get all sorts of emails now. Do we? Yeah, we run a list of some sort for something. Oh, somebody got it to us.
Somebody got the name, yes. Somebody got the email address. Oh, we advertise it every week. That could be true, right?
There's Heatmiser, and there's Snowmiser. Snowmiser is blue hair. Should've done one of the kids blue, one of the kids red. Well, so, okay, so this is how that played out.
Jax wanted to do his hair, and we asked Justice if he wanted to do his hair, and he said no. No. And he's that type of kid, he's like, you know, he's like, fuck off, I don't, you know, I'm doing my own thing. So then Jax did his hair, and then, you know, they went to Target, they're going to all these places, and everybody's like, wow, I like your hair.
I like your hair. Hey, I'd like to do my hair. I'd like to reconsider the hair thing. Right.
So, Brittany was going to do blue, but she was worried that the blue looked too purple. Oh. So she walked that back. Put him on the black hair, yeah, yeah, the dark hair.
So they did the orange. No, but they bleached his hair. Oh. Yeah, his hair bleached.
Oh. Both kids' hairs went blonde, like you. Oh, like Papa Mike. Yeah.
Oh, should've left it blonde. Just like Papa Mike. Should've taken pictures. So I almost went ahead and died.
You do? Yeah. I almost went ahead and dyed my hair red. Please.
Yes. Brittany, please dye his hair red. I will do it, you know, but here's the thing. I have two kids.
So? So I can't do one color. They're both red. One's orange.
Oh, they're not, one's orange, one's red? No, yeah. Oh. Yeah.
And you do the blue. I do the blue? Yeah. The blue.
No baby teddy color hair? No. Did you ask her? You should ask her.
Her answer's no to everything, and then she'll tell you what she wants. Ah, yeah. Would you like a cookie? No.
Ice cream. I would like a cookie. Oh, she says no and then takes it. Oh.
And then she tells you what she wants. Oh. Stop asking. I will tell you when I want a cookie.
Yeah. God damn it. Now I want the cookie. Yeah.
I'll tell you when I'm ready. I'm ready. Oh. I went, I got a manicure yesterday.
Yeah? After all the sod throwing and everything, Adrian took me in and got me a manicure. Really? Yeah.
A little hand massage and up the arms and stuff. No painting, nothing like that, but they, you know, got all the- The cuticles? The cuticles, all the dirt from out under the fingernails from working in a yard, and a little hand massage, shoulder massage, and arm massage. It was nice.
Okay. Okay, this guy's killing me. Sorry, Keanu can't help you. I can't help you, Keanu.
The orders. Nobody can help Keanu. Looks like Kraft arrived to people. Yes, somebody already posted in the Weasel Group they got theirs at their house.
Yeah. But it might have been somebody who like drove in and picked it up somewhere or something. Yeah. I didn't pay attention to what it was, but.
I mean, they're in Texas, so if they're shipping, like, Oklahoma or Texas, Texas is going to get it right away. That makes sense. You keep it down over there, Phil, we can hear you're knocking. And we started shipping orders with the Shepherd.
Oh, did you this week? Yeah, yeah, we started doing it. According to the press release, yes, it was shipping this week. Did you see Charlie's comment?
" You're not going to get it here. Dude, what the fuck, you know? Oh, we have to bring this up. You've made it to Cigars Soares Rex.
I don't know what you're talking about. You saw it. Nope. You saw it.
I could play it. Nah. Oh, no, you're not engaging. Oh.
Oh, that was funny. Did you? Yes, I did. Interesting.
That was funny. He called you a bitch. That was funny. No, I have no idea.
All right, do you want to talk about that? I thought we'd talk about that. I thought it was funny. I like that you awkwardly laugh right now.
Because you're looking at me funny. Interesting. Oh, you put it on your camera. He heard the podcast, apparently.
He's a fan. Or somebody told him we talked about him. Oh, interesting. You don't want to talk about it at all?
All right, moving on. I don't even know what you're talking about. All right, moving on. What else do you want to talk about then before we get into the news?
We have a lot of news, PCA stuff, we have a lovely Florida story that people have sent me, but I already had it. Oh, I booked our flight for PCA. Oh, did you? Delta.
Delta? Delta. So, direct? No, no.
Wait, wait, wait. Oh, no. Hold on, hold on. Delta?
Nope. Oh, no, direct flight? Oh, no. You messed it up.
Yeah, direct flight? Nope. Oh, no. It's kind of low.
Still turned down for music. So, where'd we change planes? Wait, wait, wait, wait, we're flying to Vegas. Taxi?
Texas somewhere? Texas? Nope. No.
Just tell me that. Atlanta. Oh, really? Yeah.
Delta, yeah. Up, boom, over. Alright, no big deal. If you want to fly...
I tried to upgrade mine, and it wouldn't let me. It wouldn't let me. Bastard. No, sir, you...
So, like, every fucking airline is different. The whole line is different. Right. You know, United and American, the ability to kind of upgrade is very easy.
Right, yeah. Delta's like, oh no, you elected heathen level, so you do not even get to look upon the options for first class. They won't give you, they're not trying to goose you for a little bit more money? No.
Another $400 so you can be a first class. That's what I'm saying. Hmm. Very weird.
I'm not going to lie. I mean, first class experience on the flight back in there. Yeah. It's probably worth it.
Is it Red Eye on the way back? No, it's... Oh, I think I hate those. No, it's like midday and we get home at like midnight.
Oh. Oh, time change and everything on the way back. Yeah. All right.
I mean, it always sucks. Yeah, yeah. It always sucks. I think we change off at Atlanta on that one too.
Maybe. Probably. Mm-hmm. But if you wanted to fly direct, you're going to have to fly fucking Frontier.
Okay. Nope. I ain't fucking flying Frontier. here.
I'm not flying in on a fucking crate next to the chickens. It's just not happening. I have flown, dude. I have flown too.
Man, there's just no fucking way. Wait, when you get on the plane, you put your headphones on, your eye massager, your hood's up. You don't even know what fucking plane you're on. No.
You're like, you're like Mr. T in the A-Team. We just drug you and put you on the plane. And then you land, you go, who put me on the You put me on a plane.
No, that's not true. Are you animals, you put me on a plane? That's not true. Yes, it is.
No, it isn't, because I can tell you that- And you watch your dirty movies. That's right. If I fly, you know, those, the value, the real value flights, the air flights, air flights, what the fuck that means? Air flights.
The fucking chairs are so uncomfortable for me, I get so bad of fucking back pain. And it's a long ass flight. We'll get you one of those beaded seat covers that the Asian Jews use in the Texas. Oh, oh, see, and there we go.
You know, we're about midway through, you gotta go, you gotta go racist. That's not racist, they have them in their taxis in China. They're fucking Asian. The Chinese put the beaded seat covers on the taxis.
Oh yeah? Yes. You know, I did, I did start going, I bought a thing for cupping. You know what cupping is?
Yes. I mean, you are Chinese. You're doing the cupping now? Yeah.
Ugh. Why don't you just, just shake a rattle over yourself? Are you gonna show the cupping bruises? I got one.
Does Brittany do the cupping to you? Because you can't do them to yourself. I did this one to myself, but I will have her help me. You can't reach the back of your own arm.
I don't even know how you wipe your own ass at this point. Wow. That's so hurtful. You're like a gorilla.
You can't get your arm back there. I don't think I'm that large. Oh, all right. I'm a respectable size.
Okay. Put some respect on my name. What do you think, Phil? Yeah?
Phil says, yeah, you're all right. Yeah. You know? So yeah.
So you like put the hot under it and it sucks it on, right, and that's how it works? Yeah, well, that's how it works, but like now they have technologically advanced ones. Oh, they got a Bluetooth. What?
Oh, yeah. Bluetooth? They play music? And it's got red light.
It's got red light therapy. So it just sucks now instead? And you pick the level that you want, and it goes brrrr. And what's that supposed to do besides leave bruises like you've been attacked by an elective?
You were the one that goes to visit China all the time. I've never done the cupping. You don't do anything that leaves marks on you. That's the thing that leaves marks on you.
You don't do cupping in China, and you don't do the acupuncture. Acupuncture? You don't do it in China? No.
Why not? When you're going through customs trying to get back out of the country, you get all these marks all over you and everything, and they think you have smallpox or something. I feel like that's a folklore. That's a fucking lie.
Sorry. I've never been detained. Your brother was, so I'm just telling you. Okay.
Well, I was detained at one time. Yeah, you were detained. My passport was torn. Mm-hmm.
Yeah. You were a spy. That's what they thought, I think. You sit here, we'll be right back.
Okay. Jump in the water and swim for it, or make a run for the border. So it helps release tension on muscles. Okay.
How is that different than your hotbox? That creates inflammation. It creates inflammation? Yeah.
Well, doesn't the sucking increase inflammation, too? I guess it does to some degree. It's just smaller little hotboxes. Yeah, but it's like you're releasing tension in specific areas.
Hmm. Hmm. Okay. No more ice baths?
No, I love the ice baths. You know, it's just hard to do. I did an ice bath this weekend. Oh.
Why don't you have like the big trough and just fill it full of water at your house? That seems like a lot of work. Well, you have your staff do it. I have my staff.
Which one? Oh, my wife? Your wife. The packer of lunches.
She's not doing nothing. The packer of lunches, the folding of clothes, the packing of suitcases. That woman. What else?
The cooker of dinners? The cooker of food, yes. The ordering of door dashing. The houses of cleaning?
Right, the cleaning of the house. I mean, what the fuck? She just had a door list. She makes these, like, these Twix kind of...
Now she's making you candy bars? They're like, it's like a keto-friendly... You can buy candy bars, Michael. No, it's like a lower-carb approach thing, so like, if I can snack on something at night that's not really high...
Like, I have a fucking terrible sweet tooth. " So yeah, so she makes them. Oh. She makes them.
The maker of the candy. The maker of the candy. The maker of the candy. She gave me, uh, she gave me my father's day.
Was it the cupping machine? No. How many of those little Bluetooth pods do you have now? I just bought one.
Oh, that seems like it'd take forever. I only do like specific areas where there's paint. Just the one? And it's like the size of this, right?
Yeah. This thing's very specific. Just do one area at a time. Just one spot, it's not even an area.
Yeah. One spot at a time. You need like four minimum. I can't, I can't.
You can get like a shoulder. I'm sorry, no, I can't afford four. Oh, they're expensive. Oh, yeah.
Well, just buy the glass ones. Cause then I'd have to tell my wife that she'd have to apply them all. Oh, well, yeah. She kind of fought me on it.
She wasn't happy. Oh, she doesn't like you buying any more. You don't know anything about this shit. What are you doing?
Right now, I want to try something new. I'm like, no, but it looks like this is gonna, this is gonna help. Look, man, I got some shit going on. I want to stay on top of it, okay?
Chiropractor can do that shit. Chiropractor does it? Yeah. Oh.
Certain chiropractors do it. Emile. Emile used to do it. Cuffin?
Yeah. She came in here one time, but she'd been attacked by an octopus. They were all over her. Didn't she move away?
Yeah, I think she's living in Alabama now or something. With the fella. Sweet home Alabama. With her true love.
The fella. Her true love. Yes. So what else?
We're in 30 minutes. I mean, shit, dude. I feel like I just covered a lot. - Watch the Celtics get their ass kicked.
- Phil and I went and saw Maverick. - You guys went and saw Top Gun? - No, we didn't go. - Oh my God, Dana's gonna be so pissed.
- He's not allowed, he's got a date, he can't go. - Dana's gonna be so pissed? - Yeah. - Mmm.
- You know, I hope she puts her clothes on when she comes home. The last picture she put on Facebook was her bathing suit top floating around the pool with a cigar band from Post Vanya. He's just living her best life. Oh, yeah.
I think... Something about mandatory Friday, no tops. So, somebody broke into our office and stole our gorilla and our bobblehead. Bobbleheads.
Bobbleheads. Yes. Yeah, and we haven't really talked about it at all. No.
So... And there's been no sign of these things anywhere. No. No, uh...
No ransom. No, uh, no jokey thing. No jokey jokey. No jokey jokey.
So somebody, maybe someone has legitimately stolen these things. Out of everything in that office, why take those? Because it's Cigar Hustlers podcast stuff. Well, yes.
It could be memorabilia hunters or something. Maybe they're on eBay. We haven't looked on eBay. That could be.
But yeah, we thought maybe Dana did and took them to Honduras. Yeah. Because she has done that in the past with other items. Right.
But unless she forgot to take them. Which is possible. It is possible. Because we assumed they would show up on the beach in Honduras somewhere.
Yeah. But no. Huh. So, we don't know.
And your wife's very upset about the gorilla, not so much the bobbleheads, but she went to a lot of trouble to get the gorilla. Those bobbleheads are one of a kind. They're expensive. They were expensive.
Oh, fucking Phil. I paid for half of them. Did you? That was a gift from us.
Oh. Except for my own bobblehead. I didn't pay for my own bobblehead. He paid for them.
Fucking Phil and Palmer. You're going to get a lot of texts for these orders. A lot of text for the bubble heads? Yeah.
So if you have them, if you'd like rants, send them, I see the camera, oh over here, if you'd like to send us a ransom note or something, it's not funny unless you give us a hard time about it. Yeah. Or just return them and say you're sorry. Or if you'd like to just leave them, bring them in and leave them when nobody's looking, because obviously the kids don't even pay attention.
Yeah. The kids don't even pay attention? No. What kids?
The kids at work here. Oh, yeah. Somebody got them when nobody knew. Yeah.
Now we're in a secure environment. Yes. Yeah, we have the hinge. We have the hinge.
Oh, I'm talking about down here. Oh, oh, down here. Yes, yes, yes. Oh, yeah.
Do we have a key code on this thing? Uh-huh. Son of a bitch, you guys are fucking bougie. Only works on the deadbolt, not the bottom lock.
So during the day, the deadbolt's locked when I come and go. Right. But when we leave for the day, everything's locked up. Gotcha.
Right. That way I don't have to carry my keys around. So fancy. Right.
Yeah. Uh huh. We have security, we have security cameras in here too. I know.
Yeah. Do we? Yes. There's one there and there's one out in the other room.
Shit do we do. Yeah. One there and one out in the other room. I have no access to anything.
Well, you can if you want. Nah, it's fine. Yeah. I don't fucking care.
Think about putting one out there where the light bulb is. Oh, out front. Yeah. Oh.
We can see at the parking lot. I don't view the parking lot. I think that would be a great idea. But let's not do that right now.
Oh, it's in my, it's in my Amazon cart. It's in my cart, it's on its way. No, no, it's in my Amazon cart. What is it like, the light bulb that you screw into?
Yeah, you screw it in, and then you can move it. It's a dome, yeah, I've seen those. Right, but they only have no light, though. There's no light on it, then.
It doesn't come with a light? No. It's one or the other. It can't be a light, too?
No, but the one next door is burned out, so we can put a... We just bring that light bulb over. Well, you can only put one bulb in, though. So you take the bulb that we have here, we put it over there, and you put the camera on it.
Right, right, that's what I'm thinking. Yeah. Yeah. There you go.
Right. Right. Okay. Sure.
Right. Okay. All right, we better get to the fucking news already, for fuck's sake. We might have to cut back on the news.
From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need. The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report, with Mike Toon. Higher Cuban prices going to effect in Spain, Michael. Oh, no.
On Friday, the Spanish government announced the new retail change for a variety of tobacco products, including new prices for more than 300 SKUs of Cuban cigars. I didn't know there was more than 300 Cuban cigars available. Prices are going up. As expected, prices have increased, especially for Cohiba and Trinidad.
Also of note, the prices went into effect on June 4th. Uh, June 4th. Period. Huh.
Spain, in the world's largest market for Cuban cigars and also one of the most affordable places to buy Cuban cigars, To buy Cuban cigars in the world. Oh, affordable. Not anymore. No.
Due to Habano SA Global Pricing Standard Policy, a recently announced policy where the Cuban Cigar Company is requiring its distributors more well to set retail prices close or equal to that price of Cuban cigars in Hong Kong. I wonder why they picked Hong Kong. Everybody's matching Hong Kong prices. I think that there's a big demand for cigars in Hong Kong.
Yeah? And that kind of dictates your market. Well, there's a big market for Cuban cigars in Hong Kong. Right, so that dictates your market price, right?
I mean, it's probably very affluent, I would assume. Yes, yes, where they're at, there is, yes. This is at least the third price list that has emerged following the announcement in May about the global pricing standard, and we previously reported about a new price list from Germany. Unlike the price list from Germany, Spain's government published a news bullet announcing price changes for tobacco products and not necessarily a complete price list.
As such, some cigars do not appear, the notification is unclear, why some SKUs, H. Upman, Sir Winston, for example, do not appear on the list, other than its price has not yet changed. In addition, some come from the government, and not Tabla Calera, SLU, and the Cuban Cigar Distributor in Spain. So the prices are going up, the plugs are going to stay the same.
Right. Yeah, so you know, your third of the box is still going to be fucked, and you're going to pay a premium. Have a good day. Have a good day, thank you very much.
You know, it's amazing to me that people in Europe and all these other countries, like the cigar's plugged and it's like, all right, well, you're fucked. Deal with it. Because, you know, you can't return it. No.
But we have people here that if they light up a cigar, like, I really don't like the taste of it. I'd like it back. I'd like my money back. They're much politer in Europe.
I'd be like, man, fuck you. It's Americans. We expect more. Apparently we do.
Apparently we do. Yes. Southern draws. Southern draw.
The only reason I pulled the star. Firethorn, Augusto, Belagoso, Fino, going regular production after being released as a limited edition November, 2020. So he didn't die, right? No, he didn't die.
He made it. He made it out of, where was he at? Costa Rica, I think? Put him in, they put him in a room, in the box?
They put him in a room in some little house somewhere. He almost died. I heard that when they put you in there, like, it's expensive to stay in that room. I would imagine.
Yeah, you go in there. But they don't, like, come in because you're, like... Sick. Yeah.
He's very sick. Catch things. No, you go in the room and you're gonna pay a premium for being in that room. Let's see.
Southern Draw's Firestorm Augusta is becoming a regular production cigar in the company's portfolio later this year. He's got to pay for the room. Yeah. Yeah, no doubt.
The company announced the news via... $75 a cigar. That's about right. Let's see where they're at.
They're going to be priced here somewhere. 5x54 box-pressed felicoso that uses an Ecuadorian Hibano Rosado wrapper over a Mexican San Andreas binder and fillers from Nicaragua, which is a modified version of the company's Firestorm blend. It was originally released as a limited edition for Cigars International, with 1,000 bundles of 10 cigars produced. S.
Army installation, where several members of the Holt family have been stationed. He's retired. No price. $9.
99. In today's market, that's a reasonable price. It's not bad at all. Drunk chicken, a homicidal hen is returning to the PCA 2022.
Homicidal Hens coming back. Homicidal Hens for the third year in a row! Very exciting. Drunk Chicken Cigars will be released as Homicidal Hen Limited Edition Cigar.
The newest version will be shown off for the first time during the 2022 PCA Convention in Trade Show. Are we near the hen people? I don't know. Do you want some?
I mean, we walked past them at TPE. Yeah, yeah, I remember seeing... They kind of stared at us. Well, they probably recognized us.
Uncomfortably. They did, like... They probably recognized us. Can I help you?
Didn't they also came by when we were in Black Star, too? Did they? Yes. We are the homicidal hen.
Well, we are the white guys, so they waited on us to leave. 5x50 Rebuso Extra Vitola and the Bland of Pennsylvania Broadleaf Wrapper covering an equilibrium binder and Nicaraguan fillers will remain the same as the two previous incarnations. The production numbers have changed. The 2022 release of the homicidal hen, 5,000 cigars, an increase from 4,000 cigars, and the year before that, 2,000 cigars.
That came out in 2020. The meaning behind the name of the cigar homicidal hen comes from the fact that hens are typically very gentle animals and it's rare to get one to attacks like a rooster. Oh, let's see, according to Desiree Silver, owner of the Drunk Chicken Cigars, an email to Half Wheel of Cigar. Oh, email to Cigar Hustle Podcast.
Oh, I mean, yeah. Let's see, the cigar is smooth, a great body, but full strength and you really don't see it coming at first. According to Sylver, S-Y-L-V-E-R. I made that worse.
Sorry. Let's see, the MSRP for the hen is going to be $14 and a total of 250 20-count boxes are scheduled to ship to retailers August 15th. The company is not disclosing the name of which factories are rolled at, but the confirmed factory is located in the state of Florida. Interesting.
$14 cigar in the state of Florida. Homicidal hen. Agurna. In Florida?
Yeah. Oh, you're talking about Titan DeBronze. No, this cigar, the homicidal hand, is made in Florida for $14. This is going to be fun.
This is a fun game. Yes. And you think Aganorsa has a factory here? They roll cigars down in Miami, don't they?
No. I thought they did. I don't think so. I've seen pictures of Terrence down in Miami in a little rolling room.
No, I think he's in Nicaragua. No, no, in Miami. If you're, I mean, Titan DeBronze in Miami. I don't know who Titan DeBronze is.
And they used to work with Titan DeBronze. I don't know who Titan DeBronze is. Didn't LeBron pay footballers? Oh my god, how do you not know Titan LeBronz?
I don't know who Titan LeBronz is. Wow. Sorry, I don't know everybody, Michael. It's kind of a big deal.
Apparently not that big. I bet he doesn't know who I am either. Nope, he probably doesn't. Viaje is announcing a private keep, lemon, and return of Summerfest and birthday blend.
I passed. You didn't get any of those? No, I passed. Who is it Fred's working for now, is it Viaje?
Ellusion. Ellusion, that's right. Jesus Christ. That's right.
I'm sorry, he's flooding everything with his interview show. I just can't keep track of Fred. I thought it was a good interview. Yeah?
I didn't listen at all. Yeah, I got to finish the rest. I think I got like 10 minutes left. Oh, I'm sure Fred asked some very good questions.
Yeah, it was pretty good. I thought it was pretty good. He does need to mic up. Yeah.
Fred, you mic up, and that thing is fucking crystal clear. Right. You had a mic on Carlito. Carlito sounded great.
Fred sounded like he was talking in a can. Well, I wouldn't say can, but I- Well, he was being picked up by Carlito's microphone. So it was a little bit of an- Right, right. So it was just a little, it was a little off.
Right. And, but if he mic'd up. Yep. That show is...
Lighting was good. The camera work was good. And then they had like the editing of the scenes and shit inside. Oh, he's got a very professional crew working for him.
Holy shit, dude. Right. Is it just another guy? Is it one other person?
No, no. It's a team. He's got a team. He's got a team.
He has a whole... Maybe it's just his wife, Tracy. I don't know. You just said he has a team.
Well, Tracy would be a team. She's very... He'll message us. I'm going to put the...
Oh, yeah. Well, next time he sees us, he'll tell us. Yeah. Hey, fuckers.
Hey, fuckers. It was just me and my wife. Yeah. I had one mic.
I was in the middle of it. I had one mic. Just deal with it. I don't have Phil money.
I just had the one mic. I don't have Phil. I don't have a Phil. Viaje announced.
Oh, were you passing on at least? You don't want to read this thing? That's good. All right.
Ace Prime to release Maria Lucia's PCA. I mean, they've been talking the fuck out of this thing for PCA. I've gotten emails. I've got...
Oh, it was announced today by PCA, too. I mean, holy shit. We need to do an exclusive PCA so that PCA will talk about it. We would like to discuss our...
And then, like, not take orders on it. Like, no, we don't. We'll just make up a cigar. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then what we'll do is we'll say that it's made in Nika Swain, and it'll probably never be made. Oh, there you go. Yeah. Like, oh, you're not going to believe this, dude.
I didn't fucking make it. You should ask Skip. They're at capacity. Oh, Michael will be there, too.
I don't know, Michael. Why don't we have our cigar? I didn't check with Skip to work that out. I just said I was going to do it, and then he said no.
Ace Prime announced it will have exclusive cigar retailers who attend the 2022 Premium Cigar Association Convention Trade Show in July. The company will release Maria Lucia, a limited edition that is inspired by the story of grit, passion, and survival of Maria Lucia Morales, the mother of Luciana Morales, the founder and co-owner of Ace Prime. Oh, this must be quite a nice story there. Oh, he's, Luciana's a really nice guy.
Yeah, I met him. Yeah. He's very nice. He is very, he's a very nice man.
Five-and-a-quarter, Vitro, Box Press, Rebuso, Use the Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper, Double Binder, Ooh, Double Binder, Ecuadorian Sumatra, and Ecuadorian HBN-92. Does the binder hold everything in place? Not the 91, the 92. 92, yeah, the 91 wasn't the same.
No, no. And a filler that contains tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. Do you need to go? No, man.
Look, dude, you know, there's a lot going on. There's a lot. I just asked for an hour a week, Mike. There's a lot going on.
There's a lot going on. I just need an uninterrupted hour. Dude, Shepard is dropping. Unerrupted hour weeks.
All I'm asking for. It's gonna be interrupted right now. I'm not responding. We'll pick a different day.
It doesn't matter. Oh. It doesn't matter when you have a new cigar out into the world. You're offering a 12 count box.
And everybody wants it. What do you want from me? 80. I'm but one man, Michael.
Very reasonable cigar. But one man just out here doing my best for everybody. Bellato's knock-around debuting at PCA 2022. Is it an exclusive?
The Bellato? The Bellado? Yeah. Under his new name, previously the company was known as La Barba, now Tony Bellado, now it's known as Bellado Premium Cigars, first new line, blended company will knock around.
No, it doesn't appear to be. All right. He's doing a Robusto, a 5x50, a box of 20s, $140, $7 cigar. The Knockaround Toro is an $8 cigar, the Knockaround Gordo is a $9 cigar.
Very reasonable prices from Mr. Bellado also. Huh. Interesting.
I wonder what they'll taste like. Poshik, Matt Booth, team up for The Shepard. Oh, there it is. The latest in Poshik, Inc.
seems a one-off release where the blend is not to be disclosed will be called The Shepard. Yeah. It will be offered in a single 5 and 3/4 at 50 Robusto Extra Size. Yeah, I called it an Almost Toro.
Almost Toro. And he fucking fixed it. What are you talking about? Charlie, don't be fixing my shit.
I gave you the press release. Press release. Don't edit the press release. The press release.
Yeah, that's for your review. You review it. As for the rest of the details, there's little in the way of useful information. Poshik, which is owned by the brothers behind the Powstanie brand and cigar hustler, Deltona, Florida-based retailer, says it worked with Matt Booth, Room 101, that describes it as there's nothing about when the cigars are made or what tobacco is used.
The wrapper is described as really good, the binder is described as strong enough to keep it all together, and the filler is described as leprechaun magic with a dash of fairy dust. Yes. All in quotations. Yes.
The MSRP has set at $14 per cigar. For a Toro, that's not bad. For a Robusto, a little bit much like it. It's like right in the middle.
It was limited to 10,000 total cigars. I saw a Corona for 16, so I don't give a fuck. Mr. Booth and I added our signatures to the bands because if you believe in it, you should put your name on it, said Mike Sztepankevich in a press release.
There you go. Speaking of the band, it reads Ezekiel 2517, which is a Bible verse. It's going to be a biblical verse. and it was a bible verse that reads i will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath they will know what i am the lord when i take vengeance on them shepherd will be beginning will start shipping today or last week started shipping last week started shipping last friday yeah okay all right big sky i mean you know what do you want to talk about i don't know what else you wanted to say i mean i just plugged your cigar for you know like but this is the thing that we I kind of go back and forth about it time and time again.
This isn't the way I wrote the press release. Yeah, I know. There wasn't a fan. I just let it go.
I don't know. I've written the last four, and all of a sudden, now it's not good enough. Yeah, you know, like, this cigar, I called it the shepherd for the reason. Like, we've had this conversation, it kind of developed on this podcast.
Right. Trying to be the shepherd. Trying to be the shepherd. Right.
You're the weak, and I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd. He didn't pick the good part of the quote. No, I mean, you know, I think that he was a little curmudgeon-y and angry and just kind of pissed all over it because I didn't give him anything.
Oh, Charlie. Hey, I made a new cigar. Like what, you know. I can't follow the dots.
It's moving very quickly. Sometimes I'll disclose what's in the cigar. Sometimes I won't. Right.
Hey, don't fuck it. What's, what difference does it make? That's the way things are going now. Some people say what's in it, some people don't anymore.
Yeah, so sometimes I will. I'll play both sides. I don't give a fuck. I'll mix it up.
So for the next one, Charlie, we'll tell you what's in it. We won't. No. No, no, no.
I was just telling. Yes, Charlie, we'll tell you what's in the next one. I mean, we could be totally wrong. Like, you know, how many people do you think give a blend to those companies and they really don't know what the fuck is in that cigar anyways?
Oh, and then the press release? They just pick something? No, well, like the factory says, okay, okay, mister, this is what we did. And we're fucking, it's an Ecuadorian Habano.
Oh, Ecuadorian Habano, I like that. That's good. The Pennsylvania Broadleaf Binder. Oh, that's nice.
I like that too. Dega in the middle, and some Pueblo Nuevo, Omotepe, and here, this is your blend, you go tell them. The, the, the, the, what, what was that last thing you said? Omotepe.
I can't understand your language, sir. Omotepe. Omotepe, we got Omotepe. Oh, very rich, very, it's very bold.
Oh, it's very rich, it's expensive? We don't want Omotepe if it's expensive. Oh, yeah, no, it's very, very old, very rich. I mean, it's all fucking, like, they can't guarantee that.
Oh, now his accent is gone, what happened? They can't guarantee. You've been ripped off, his accent's gone. They can't guarantee that it's in there.
No. They can't. No, they can't. There's no fucking way.
No. And you know what? If the factory is fucking lying, and they might be, I'm not saying that they're all liars. No, no.
But some definitely exist in this industry. Some of them definitely are. Then you need to fucking... Or maybe they exaggerate.
So you're giving out false information anyways. Oh, we ran out of them with tempeh. Okay, don't put it in. Fuck them.
Fuck them. Gringos are stupid. What do you call it the Voyager? You're not going to know what it is anyway.
Oh, shit. Go back. Go back. Throw that with you.
Just throw that right in there. There it is. Dropping bombs. Dropping bombs.
So, what the fuck, you know, it's a fun cigar, it tastes really fucking good, I'm very happy about it. It does, it was very good. It tastes good when I came back the next day and finished it. Dude, we had fucking people that received it late last week and they reordered.
Already? Yeah. Oh, nice. Yeah.
So, you know. Cigar Den? No. Tobacology?
I haven't talked to Cigar Den yet. Oh. Which is kind of odd, because that guy's usually on top of things. Right.
Tobacology? No. No? I haven't heard from Bart.
He ordered. I think I ordered. Bart ordered some? Yeah, Bart ordered.
That's good. You know. Still on the checks if he's haven't the file yet. I didn't have a chance to look.
Yeah. Big Sky Cigar debuting Cryptide. Cryptid? Cryptide?
C-R-Y-P-T-I-D? P-T-I-D. C-R-Y-P-T-I-D. Cryptid?
Cryptid? Crittin. And El Profesior at PCA 2022. El Profesior.
Big Sky Cigar Company is planning on adding two new regular production lines during the 2022 PCA Convention trade show this year, Cryptide and El Profesior. Anybody want to come by and throw cigars at us, we'll be somewhere. Where are we at again? What's our number?
666 or something it was? 660, I think. 660. 660.
Who are we next to? Oh, we're next to... Howard G. Howard G.
Yeah, we'll be back by Howard G. that'll be fun for me. I like Howard G. Mike doesn't like him because- No, no, I like Howard.
I didn't like the other guy. He didn't like Ike Taylor because he didn't want to give you a cigar. He didn't want to give you a cigar. I'm going to hit Howard up for a cigar.
I got to be honest. I look at you and I think you're suspect as well. I'm like, fuck him. I ain't giving him shit.
Every day they hit Howard up for a cigar. You know, it's great because normally it's the other way around. They look at you and they're like, Oh, he's the owner. Like, I knew what the fuck was up.
He got it. He's like, I got to take care of this guy. Well, you were talking sports. I didn't say a word.
You're just a fuck. Fuck this guy. I didn't even know who he was. He was fucking.
He nailed it. He nailed it. I didn't know who he was. If you get the cigar or not, does it affect me purchasing it?
No. No. I mean, now I would make sure that you got one, obviously, because I'm not okay with that. But it's still fucking hilarious.
Well, I did end up with one. Yes, of course. I think I gave it to Phil. Out of spite?
No, no. I figured he knew who the guy was, I still didn't know who he was, I thought Phil would enjoy it more. He gets all giddy over those sports guys. He does get giddy over those sports guys.
He likes the dudes. He likes the dudes. Let's see, cryptize as an animal has been claimed to exist, but never proven to exist. Oh, that makes complete sense.
Okay. And in this case, the cigar, it exists, but doesn't really exist. There you go. The Flathead Lake, oh wait, it refers to the Flathead Lake monster, a creature that has been reported sighted in the Montana Lake dating back to 1889.
In addition, Big Sky, oh Big Sky is from Montana, Big Sky Country. Makes sense. Oh, makes complete sense. That's a hell of a long way to ship.
Where's my Florida story? Oh no. I have it on my phone, don't worry, we have to do a Florida story. For Bart?
No, no. Well, Bart said it. Yeah, it is out, but I had already pulled that one. PCA launches microsite for comments on FDA's proposed flavored cigar.
Now PCA has made a special website where you can go on there and you can comment and it will send it to the appropriate Senate or House people. Oh. Cigar Huster says you're out of your fucking mind. Period.
Period. All right, we're just gonna move on to the Florida story. I mean, that's nice that PCA, at least they're trying. It's nice to see you trying, PCA.
He just ran out of paper upstairs on the printer. Paper. Paper. Paper.
