A Cigar Hustlers Podcast 229 The Traffic SSSSSTOP

A Cigar Hustlers Podcast 229 The Traffic SSSSSTOP

Episode Summary

Episode 229 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with the usual studio banter — it's the final episode recorded in the old studio before the move downstairs — a birthday shout-out to David Garofalo of Two Guys Smoke Shop, and a look at the second-ever Cigar Hustlers Podcast tattoo from a listener. Mike also makes an ill-advised live phone call to his wife Brittany to accuse her of not feeding their kids, which backfires immediately, plus a missing red gorilla mascot and bobbleheads from the shop.

The news block is the meat of the episode. The hosts break down Scandinavian Tobacco Group's Q1 2022 earnings: revenue up in raw terms but negative organic growth (-1.7%) and an EBITDA margin dip from 28% to 27.4%, with CEO Niels Frederiksen's comments and STG's read that the COVID-era handmade cigar sales surge is ending and the market is reverting to pre-pandemic trends. The hosts riff on what happens to premium cigar spending when disposable income tightens — smokers trade down but rarely quit — and note STG's ownership of Cigars International, General Cigar, Thompson Cigar and Agio.

From there it's a run of PCA 2022 Convention & Trade Show announcements, all viewed through the lens of escalating prices: Tabanero Cigars of Ybor City making its PCA debut with the Patriarch Maceda Double Robusto (6.5 x 54 box press, Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder, undisclosed filler) at a $59.99 single price; Aganorsa Leaf's repackaged Aniversario Maduro for the third straight year; United Cigars relaunching the 250-year-old Dutch brand Red Anchor as a $25 Dominican Toro called the Admiral — with an aside about an older-looking Red Anchor Maduro quietly disappearing from Two Guys Smoke Shop's website after the podcast asked about it; Room 101's 13th Anniversary (a 6 x 52 Nicaraguan puro from AJ Fernandez, 1,500 boxes, "stinky pinky" packaging printed upside down on purpose) plus The Big Payback Nicaraguan made by Joya de Nicaragua; Don Doroteo's PCA debut with El Legado, made at La Aurora and honoring founder Juan Lugo's grandfather's 1936 tobacco-growing ties; and Patoro's Terra Blanche going national after being an Industrial Cigar Company exclusive.

The back half is the usual Florida news segment — monkeypox arriving in Broward County, a woman who threw a rubber snake at deputies after a high-speed chase, and a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish meltdown in Polk County — a baby giraffe with leg braces, and a Listener of the Week nod to Michael Ripka, the "Taco King" behind Torchy's Tacos, who also gets an unpaid Shop of the Week plug.

Who's birthday, sir? Our good friend David Garofalo's birthday is today, Michael. Oh, who's number one? Who's number one?

Cigar Hustler, the podcast. Happy birthday, Mr. David Garofalo. Happy birthday.

I look forward to meeting you again for the first time at the PCA. Also, Michael, I have something to show you. So I will put the photo up here for the listeners. Oh, God.

I saw that. Oh, did he send it to you, too? Yeah. Oh, shirtless Mike, as you can see right here in his lovely photo and in the accompanying video, has been tattooed.

Is officially Cigar Hustler. Cigar Hustler Podcast. Material? What is this called?

We've branded him. No, no, but there's a word, the something for the group of people that have the... Oh. What is that?

The devoted? The devoted. So he is now the devoted... He is part of the devoted...

Cigar Hustler podcast. Yes, he is. Devoted. Mm-hmm.

So, very, very lovely... The second Cigar Hustlers podcast tattoo ever. Oh, that's right. Oh, I have both.

Yeah. Uh-huh. I don't have this one, though. No, that's lovely.

That's... That is... That is fantastic. That is one large nipple there.

Right across the titty. I love it. It's very large. Love it.

But yes. We will cover the tattoo costume. So what have you been doing, Michael? First of all, I wanted to talk to you about, you said that I never watched the show.

You never watched the show. I'm the only fucking guy that comments on all the comments on the YouTube. You don't comment on the YouTube. Every person who comments on the YouTube, I generally respond.

Maybe not 100%, but I would say 90% of the time. Yeah, it's nice. I usually like them. If there's something to answer back, but normally they're comments that don't require a reply.

So I make a comment about how Phil over here does the video, and like the dead space looks like shit. Don't tell you. But then you say that I don't... You move around a lot during the show.

You say I don't watch, but apparently I do. When we get downstairs, the cameras will not be moving as often anymore. I don't have to pack them up every week. This is the last episode in this studio, for this show.

Oh. Is it? Next week, yes. Because you won't go to Austin with me.

Next week it'll be done, Steve. You don't want to go to Austin with me. No, I can't go, I got too much going on. Skip, I'm going to be in Austin, you're not going to be there.

Skip's going to be in Nicaragua. That's why I don't go. Because Skip's not there? Uncle Skip's not there?

Uncle Skip's not there? Uncle Skip's not there. Do you want Visa or Harney to pick you up at the airport? Baby Grande, we need a ride, please, from the airport.

No, well, I got to get a rental, but the rentals aren't there. The rentals aren't there. What's going on here? So, uh, Baby Grande, he needs a ride.

Uh-uh. Yes. Yeah. So, um...

What's been going on with you? You cut the grass? No, no. It rained all weekend.

You didn't cut the grass? No, no. I cleaned out the garage. Oh.

Cleaned out the storage unit downstairs here. That's nice. Yes. Why would you do that?

Because it was terrible. That's so silly of you to do. You should go see it. I'm sure it's amazing.

Everybody says it's amazing. It's amazing. I just believe them. And I threw nothing away except the broken Christmas palm tree.

You just tidied up? Oh, no, it was not tidied. It was a lot of rearranging. That's because the kids that work here just kind of throw shit in there.

Oh, yeah, it's terrible. It's like, you know, and my wife is an avid watcher, so I need to tread lightly. But, you know, my wife treats the garage the same way. Oh, yeah.

Like that is the black hole of not my fucking problem anymore. Right. She opens up the door, heaves whatever the fuck she wants, and it's no longer the problem. All wives do that, don't they?

I mean, to take out the trash, they're like, okay, bag it up, and then fill the thing in the garage. Someone else, my husband will take care of this. Yeah. Yeah.

I never do that. That's amazing. Empty boxes, cereal boxes, Amazon boxes, anything, just bloop, someone will get that. Yeah, speaking of which, I'd like to call my wife.

Let's call her. Oh, why are we calling your wife? I don't want to tell you. Am I on the road caster yet?

I don't know. Do I need to hit the button? This is, I'm totally fucked by making this call. I just want to bring you, I'm apologizing in advance, but it's going to be funny.

So I'm connected. What did you do? Does she know? There are kids.

So there's going to be screaming. Hello? Hello? Hi.

Hey, I need to talk to mommy. I'm on the podcast. Okay. Okay.

Oh, yes. Oh, this is nice. Things are not going well. It's chaos at the home.

Stefan Kevich House. Let's see. It's not radio silence. It's hung up on you.

It still says it's there. I don't know. Put you on hold. Put me on hold.

Mommy, Daddy's on the phone. Put him on hold. Mute it. Mute it.

Mute it. He said they're on the podcast. Mute it. Oh, you were hung up on.

See, you were hung up on. Cold. I may get yelled at. Hello?

Hello? Hello? Hello, it's Papa Mike. Hello?

It's dead air. Apparently, they did not want to take your call, Michael. Oh, my goodness. Brittany, what's going on here?

Hello? Oh, there she is. Hello? Jeez, Louise, you guys need to get your shit together.

Hey, you're a, we have a shit together. Hey, hey, what nice. We're on the podcast. Hey, by the way, somebody stole your big red gorilla.

Yeah, the big red gorilla was stolen. And the bobbleheads. I saw that in Slack. Oh yeah, she saw it in Slack.

I asked if somebody knew it on Slack. Interesting. It wasn't, somebody had to have taken it. Are they downstairs?

No. No, we don't know where they are yet. We don't know where they are. We'll figure this out.

But this is the problem when you heckle people to death and you do all these tricks and shit. - They get you back. - Oh, okay, well, I didn't, I wasn't a part of the bobblehead thing, but I will be really pissed if the red gorilla doesn't come back because I put a lot of effort in that. - Yes, yes, yes, yes.

- And one piece. - We'll get the gorilla back, don't worry. - So, hey, I just wanted to talk to you real quick. I wanted to run something by you.

- Oh, God. - Yesterday, we had like to go to a funeral. It was an unfortunate thing that we made a drive down to South Florida for it. Like a Memorial Party?

Yes. And we were there, we were having a good time and stuff, and something happened where the person watching our children reached out to you, and you were supposed to handle something. Oh, for fuck's sake. So I'd like to discuss the fact, since you had put me on blast, you didn't feed our children yesterday.

No, see, actually, there were groceries in the house. Okay, there were groceries in the house. " But I totally forgot. However, you were there for that conversation, and I think we're a team, so if I dropped the ball, then maybe...

See how many -- It's not to say, Michael, you were home alone with the children and she wasn't there. Do you see, like, the Beretta response, like the brrrr, first of all, there was food in the house, which is what I said, I believe, there was food in the house, the kids ate, right, they were fine, they had food. If they wanted food, they could have had it. Wow.

Right? Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. And second of all, you were, you know, you're kind of handling that, I'm just saying.

So, our kids -- My what? Our kids are -- Our kids are starving, is what you're saying. Now, no one is feeding them at all. No, actually, they're fine.

Actually, they had cookies. I made sure that their lunch was ready to go and that their stuff, they had stuff for today for school. It was just, you know, I forgot to order the pizzas, so she had to make the pizzas that were in there. Oh, okay.

It's not the same, Michael. You were left alone with the children. It feels like the same to me. No, no.

You were left alone with the children and you ate, they didn't. This is backfiring. He had a babysitter there, and the babysitter provided food for the children. You know, Mitch to this day brings it up all the time.

Does he? Yeah. That you don't feed your children? Yes.

Oh, I don't blame it at all. Yeah, so. I mean, it's not like I had dinner yesterday, and the kids, you know, I had nothing left for the kids. Mm-hmm.

Right. It's not like she ate in front of the children. Yeah. Yeah.

" All right. All right. Well, congratulations, you didn't feed the kids. That's all I mean.

But Lexi fed the kids. Yes. Yes, but when you were there, no one fed the kids. They were intermittently fasting.

It was a minor mistake. I mean, I had just gone grocery shopping yesterday morning. Yeah. The poor woman was at a...

You clicked the button. The poor woman was at a funeral, Michael. She was very distraught. Oh, is that...

That's what we're doing. She was very distraught. She's very distraught. Wait, hold on, wait.

I clicked the button. Hold on, hold on. All right. Hello.

Hey, thank you very much. I love you, and we will talk to you later. If you want to talk about clicking buttons, go down the whole clicking button, it just backfired completely, didn't it? Michael Joseph, stab you.

Michael Joseph, fucking damn. That'll be for another podcast. That's another one. Okay.

All right. Well, hey, love you. Thank you. We're very grateful for you.

Your children's dinner is getting ready to be heated up, but I'm going to first take Teddy to her swim lessons and then I'll be home to cook them dinner and then And make sure you have dinner too. You're an amazing woman. You're an amazing woman. All right.

All right. Love you. All right, Michael. Take care of you.

Bye. Goodbye, Mr. Palmer. Goodbye, dear.

So there you go. Openly admit starving my children. Michael Joseph. Fucking bear.

Burn you with my smoke. There was some lovely sound drops in there that we will be using for future. I couldn't wait to get her on the phone for that. I knew it would backfire because it always does.

I mean, you know that you can't. No, no. There's no attacking. No, no.

There's no attacking at all. You fucked up, doesn't matter, if they didn't even, you fucking, yeah, you just starve the children, just whatever, I don't know what to tell you. Oh, really? Well, weren't you with me?

Like, she had, she fucking had defensive A, like, it was all... It was like, it was pre-range, like, triggered, triggered, triggered, triggered. No, no, she had no idea. Like, she pulled out cards, listen, you were with me.

The kids ate, but anyway, Lexi fed them, Lexi made the pizza. Yeah. Right. Oh, yeah, no.

She don't, she don't fuck around. Oh. Yeah. I'm outmatched.

I found the flags today. Oh, that's fantastic. They were in the podcast gear. How exciting.

You'll need those for the PCA. I will need those for the PCA. Yes, yes. A lot of PCA news in the news today.

Really? Yes. I did something on Saturday too. What was that?

Saturday I cleaned out the storeroom, I started bringing stuff for the studio, and then... Took Jax to his training. Sunday we went to some kind of things. Sunday we went to dinner with the Atwells.

Oh, did you? Yes. He's living his best life, as he's, you know, as he is, as he's leaving, I don't know what to tell you, yeah, okay, man's gotta make money, it's getting old, it's getting old, it's not that old, all right, and we're back, we're back, we're back on, you should probably just go get it maintained or something, is that a thing, can you do that, yeah, yeah, I don't know how that works, get it cleaned up or whatever, probably should, yeah, Stop fuckin' around. So yeah.

That was that. The big one was the trip, you know? And then Brittany not feeding my kids. Oh, so you guys just went down and back for the day?

Yeah, yeah. Driving there and back sucks. Driving there and back sucks. But hey, you know, I think that I learned my lesson as far as funerals.

Like, I'd try and attend them, you know? I missed one, and I always think about it, I'm like, man, I really should have went to that funeral, so, so I go, you go, we go, we go, we go, we go, we go, we go, Phil's doing hand signals, we go, he's doing the we go sign, right, you know, we didn't even talk about the shepherd, no, we usually don't talk about it until it's released, that's the way, you know, pile them all up on the table, and I guess, given the fact that this week is now officially fucked, right, the Monday off the rip is going to be, this week is going to be a It's a disaster. I guess we'll have to talk about it next week. Next week, we'll talk about it.

We'll talk about the shepherd. The shepherd. Trying to be the shepherd. Yes.

Right. All right. Well, hey, so you didn't cut the grass? No, it rained.

I got my grass cut. Well, good for you. Yeah. It didn't really need it.

I did clean it up. I did all the edges and that kind of stuff. Oh, that's nice. A little maintenance, but no.

Cleaned out the garage. My guy's my neighbor's kid. Yeah. And he found like a dead body of some sort, like a dead animal.

No, not a person. " But apparently he put it in a trash. You put it in the trash. Yeah, who does that?

Throw it in the street. You put it in a garbage bag, and you put it in the garbage. It stinks now. Put it in a garbage bag.

It's in a garbage bag. It still stinks. It's the dead body. Close the bag.

The bag is closed. They're not porous. There's no smell. It's terrible.

Stop opening the bag and looking at it. I can smell the dead body. Stop looking at it. I don't look at the dead body.

Stop poking it. I don't poke the body. Dead body. Well, then somebody didn't close the bag.

If you close the bag, there's no smell. Garbage bags are black plastic bags. Yeah? Yeah, they're porous.

They are porous. No, they're not porous. They are porous. No, they're not cellophane from a cigar.

You're gonna tell me that if I pour liquid into a trash bag, water doesn't come out. Yes. Would you like to do it right now? We have the black bags here.

Yeah, I'd like to do it right now. There's no room in here. Oh, look at you. Oh, bluff.

Called your bluff. We'll do it right after the show. All right. Sure thing, pal.

He's full of shit. Your fucking plastic bag is so reliable. It's a garbage bag! When you get rid of a body, you put them in a...

I mean, when you get rid of dead things, you put them in a garbage bag. You're a garbage bag. I'm a garbage bag? I didn't insult us that.

Very hurtful. No, it didn't hurt. Yeah. No.

Well, at least you haven't said anything racist for the first 20 minutes. I haven't got to the news yet. Oh. When are you tied?

I'm sure there's some racist things in here. Oh my God. From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need. A lot of news, a lot of news.

The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report with Mike Szczecin. Scandinavian Tobacco and the world's largest publicly traded company in the premium cigar space announced slightly declining Q1s of 2022. Yeah, no shit. They're losing money.

While the raw revenue and profit figures are up compared to Q1 of 2021. Because you charged through the roof for fuckin' everything. STG says that its organic growth in both categories was down. Yeah.

938 billion. Billion? Dollars in revenue. 938?

883 billion in the same quarter last year. 7%. That's what the EBITDA says. That's what the EBITDA says.

4%. The company's financial guidance zero to 6% growth EBITDA remains unchanged. Nice. I think we should make a cigar and call it fucking EBITDA.

Ebitda? And charge like $35. Oh, that'd be nice. Yeah, what is it?

It's Ebitda. It's gonna directly affect my fucking Ebitda if I sell it or not. So, apparently there's a little paragraph at the bottom. Ebitda.

S. international markets. Apparently they're the parent of just about everything. Yeah.

S. S. remained robust in the quarter through the signs of the court. Robust.

Robust. Robust. Return to the structure, declining volume trend that is in line with what the company predicted early this year when it believed the COVID-19 sales surge was coming to an end and the cigar market would revert back to the pre-COVID-19 trend. Look, man, it's one of the first things that people ax out.

When the economy fucking tanks, people cut back on their cigar smoking. Yes. Well, it's an extra. Yeah.

Right. Yeah. People with disposable income drops and they don't have as much money to spend. They drop from, maybe they drop from absolute to like the skull, like the plastic bottle vodka, but they'll still drink.

Still, oh yeah, alcohol always sells. Yeah. Now they may reduce, they may go cheaper on the cigars, but if you've been smoking good cigars, it's hard to go down. It is hard to go back to the bullshit, to the little thing, $2 ones.

You know, there are some decent ones that are lower in price, but you know, I'd rather does not smoke. Oh, look at you. Yeah, I'm a connoisseur. Ah.

We deliver a satisfactory first quarter result. Is that your German? That's the German. It's the German guy.

Result in line with expectations of negative organic EBITDA. At least you're equally racist. " Fredrickson is referring to the new sustainability strategy the company announced in March, which STG says will make us, oh, that was funny. All right, the rest of this is all PCA news, Michael.

PCA News. Tabanero Cigars to make PCA debut with the Patriarch, Masida Double Robusto. Wait a minute. Walk that all the way back and start again.

Tabanero Cigars. Who? Tabanero. Okay.

Is that not right? Sure. To make a PCA debut with the Patriarch. Okay.

Now this might be the word that they must know. M-A-C-E-D-A? M-A-C. E-D-A.

Masida? E-D-A. Masita. Masita?

Makita? Is it a K-sounding scene? Makina? Makita?

Makita? Double Robusto. Makita. I don't know.

Which one you want to go with? I don't know, but I feel like we should go to the booth and fuck with them. Hey, you guys got the Masita? You got the Masita?

The Makita? You ask for the Masita, I'll ask for the Makita. And then they correct us, and then we just never, ever give them the... Oh, yeah, no, no.

No, we don't want to know that. We don't like that. The Makeda. The Makeda.

So tell me more about the... Macarena? Tell me more about the Macarena. If you've ever walked along 7th Avenue in Tampa's Ybor City neighborhood, you've undoubtedly seen a number of small boutique cigar shops offering their own brands of cigars with many rollers in the windows.

One of those shops, Tabanero Cigars, is branching out beyond retail online shops as it will be attending the 2022 PCA Convention and Trade Show in July, offering its cigars to retailers around the country. While most of the company's portfolio has been available for some time, owner Yanko Masanida will be releasing the new Vitola on his Patriarch Masanida line. It's a 6 and a half by 54 box press, double Robusto, uses an Ecuador and a Bando Oscuro wrapper, Mexican San Andreas filler, and an undisclosed filler. Okay.

It comes with an MSRP, what? 99 each? A stick? Good for you.

Good for you. for you. Wow. 60 bucks.

His evidence is up. 80. Yes. Yes.

Yanko, you might want to cut back a little bit. Why? Nobody's going to pay $60. Why not?

We just talked about how people are smoking cheaper cigars and he's coming out with a $60 stick. There's still people that are making, that can smoke the $60 stick. What? Taco people?

I mean, it's a very small percentage. Taco people. I don't know if he'd buy that. That's probably not enough.

I'm just curious to see how many they sell at the show. Are they near us? That would be fun. How many you got now?

Do you think we get to try them? You guys got any samples of the $60 cigar? You got any of that macanudos or whatever those things? The Mercedes?

The macaranos? Get those? Why are they $60? Because it's a number one.

Because we do whatever the fuck we want. whatever the fuck we want. That's right. Good for you.

It's an undisclosed filler. Apparently, it's magic beans. It's very popular now. I feel like everybody's gone undisclosed.

Well, they gave you everything but the filler. Maybe they don't know. The wrapper is none of your goddamn business, and I thank you for staying out of my personal affairs. Oh, that's what we should put in for the...

Okay. You like that? Yeah. Agrenorceleaf updating anniversary...

Anniversario. Anniversario? Anniversario. Is that how you say anniversary?

Anniversario? Anniversario Maduro at PCA 2022. I feel like this is a grammar class for you, Not really a podcast. This will be the third consecutive year in a row that, well, language, not grammar, language.

It's all foreign words. Whatever, you know what I mean. Consecutive year in a row. You got the point.

The Sells Limited Production and Versario Maduro blend will also be the third different packaging alliteration for the blenders in many years. Oh, so they're just changing the packaging. There you go. New packaging.

New packaging. That's exciting. Who's doing that? Agronorsa.

Yeah, new packaging. Terrence Riley. Yeah, prices are now $75 a stick to compete with the Masita. For the new box.

Yeah. All right. Hey, yeah, you know. I'll see you.

Come on with a Gran Robusto, a Maduro Toro, Maduro Gran Toro, a lot of Toro. Phil is texting. Oh, you know what? This is the, uh, the, uh, Morse 54.

Ismejor? Ismejor? Ismejor. This is the 54 guy.

54 Ismejor. A lot of Toro. The Gran Robusto, Maduro Toro, Maduro Gran Toro. The blend is made entirely of Nicaraguan tobaccos, capped off by shade-grown Maduro wrapper, While the packaging design remains similar to the 2021 version, the color is changing -- the color is changing from white to black like in an effort to be different to Maduro.

Listen, I'm gonna cut you off. I gotta talk to everybody about something. I need our help from some of our listeners. Okay, go ahead.

Somebody's gotta figure this out for me. All right. There is a picture in one of these magazines. Yes.

It's gotta be either Cigar Snob, Aficionado, Cigar Journal, one of those guys. Yes. It is a picture of Christian Neroa, okay, and it's a Boveda ad, and it says, for my cigars, I choose Boveda's, and then it says, Abe Flores, PDR Cigars. Oh, wrong name.

And it's fucking Christian of CLE. If someone could tell me what magazine this is, I really need this magazine, and I really need this image. It's just the ad. I don't care.

But, you know, I just, like, I need to know. I need to, somebody's gotta know. They're gonna know. Nobody's gonna know.

They're gonna know. Nobody's gonna know. So, please, whoever has seen this, I need, I need this in my life. I need this in my life, 'cause that is a major fuck-up, and I would really, really enjoy having that here.

I mean, I would even fucking take that picture and maybe even frame it. Oh. Oh, and when I see, I see. Test, test, one, two, test.

Okay, and we're back on again. Wow, a lot of problems here with the cord. We apparently need to replace that cord. You should always have a cord on standby.

Yeah, like I have an extra set of cords for the 17,000 cords. You should have them. Well, I just ordered two new mic cords while you were on the phone with 17 people. Good.

Yes. Now you only need 15 more cords to solve all your fucking problems. All my problems are solved for the day. Yeah.

And then I'm gonna get you like some kind of maintenance outfit, podcast maintenance man. Oh, you know, engineer. Ooh, yeah. There are podcast engineer shirts on Amazon.

Oh, really? Oh, I'm gonna get you one of those. United Cigars is relaunching Red Anchor at the PCA 2022. You ever see Half-Bake with Dave Chappelle?

Yes. I am a master of the custodial arts. I'm not the custodian. Or a janitor, if you want to be a dick about it.

I'm the custodian. I'm just saying, that's kind of what we're doing here. You know, your job downstairs is to sweep the floor, Mr. Ash, everywhere.

I'll buy a fucking Roomba. Buys a Roomba. I have the fucking corporate card. Oh, we don't have that kind of money.

We don't have that kind of money anymore. I'll get the Roomba and I'll get the fucking mop. We're paying for tattoos on people and stuff. We don't have that kind of money anymore.

We are just ridiculous. It's just a matter of time before we go broke. We're the most popular show with no money that they ever made. You know what?

I think that helps with our allure. They're just watching to see when the lights go out. Because they're being paid to the power company. Because there are people talking, you know, they're having conversations with their friends, they listen to the podcast and like, these guys, they don't fucking make anything.

They don't make a fucking penny. They have no, this show brought to you by Yada Yada, for great tasting cigars and for, you know. But you know what's the best tacos in the world? Dorothee's Tacos, 60 locations nationwide.

Okay. All right. Calm down. Calm down.

For the love of God. The guy's going to listen to the first podcast ever, and it's going to be this one. Good. He knows exactly how it works.

Yeah. He knows exactly how it works. I will eat the tacos on the show, sir. I'll have him send really, really hot ones.

I'll eat them. If he's going to buy a sponsorship, I will eat the peppers. Torchy's Tacos. I will eat the Torchy Pepper.

You know, I've been to Torchy's Tacos once. Spencer Drake took me. Oh, Spencer Drake. Wow, that's a name from the past, isn't it?

Yeah. Is he dead? I don't know what happened to him, he just disappeared. It's fuckin' kind of...

Right. On the list for the... That happens a lot in this industry, though. When I was going through the website, I saw the HRs, I'm like, you should probably just take those off.

He's probably gone. 'Cause he can't get 'em anymore. " You know, people that are in the industry and shit like that. And, my Uncle Chester, I called my Uncle Chester.

Yeah. " I'm like, good for you, good for you, who's Uncle Chester? My friend that I met in Ohio, he used to be the Zycar rep, and then he was doing like the Fuente humidor things, and then he got a real job. I thought it was your real Uncle Chester for a minute.

No, I just called my uncle. Oh, okay. Yeah. You want to know about the United Cigar?

Tell me, tell me, tell me about the Dave Garofalo birthday United Cigar. This makes the 250th anniversary of a cigar brand you're likely never heard of. Yeah. Red Anchor, what was once a Dutch cigar brand packed in tins, will now be a $25, no.

$65. $25 premium cigar made in the Dominican Republic. Apparently, this is the year of the overpriced cigar. I'm telling you, man, the prices of the BDP and the Sheppard all of a sudden look pretty fucking reasonable.

They do. They're pretty reasonable now, don't they? We're like half that. Half the price.

The brand will launch a single-size Red Anchor, the Admiral. Maybe we fucked up somewhere. Maybe we should have charged more, apparently. Yeah, shit.

Apparently, it's like, you know what? Fuck 'em. 6x54 Toro with an MSRP of $25. $25.

$25. A press release described the blend as medium-plus in body and medium in strength, so it's an average cigar for $25. It's about okay. Though the blend won't be revealed until the cigars are unveiled.

Undisclosed. Undisclosed. Undisclosed. Reduction is limited to 250 boxes of 25 cigars.

It's almost not clear when the cigars will ship to stores. So we have a cigar. We're not telling you what's in it. We're not telling you when we're going to ship it.

We're not telling you what it looks like. But it's $25. You know what? We need to go a totally different direction.

Now they're all doing this on this close that we should just be like, to be honest, we have no idea what's in this cigar. No idea what's in this cigar. Just like, just flat out, you know. Just tell them.

We don't know what's in it. We didn't do anything with it. Nobody told us. We suggested a size and they just gave us something close to that size.

We're doing the Gurkha thing now where we just come up with a cool name and put it on whatever cigar they have. And we don't put it in a box either. No boxes. Because that's too much money and time.

Right. Maybe even no bands. We wrote on it in Sharpie. I mean, the fucking media press released it.

That's what I'm thinking of. This is gonna be so epic. Like, you know, it's like, we fucking take it to the next level, and then they all join us, and now we have to kick it up another notch. No, there's a cigar coming out called the CCP.

The CCP? The CCP? Is that not a copy of the BDB? It feels like a copy.

I think so, too. What's the CC stand for? They're not saying yet. Oh.

They're not saying what CCP stands for. Cold call Palmer? I really have nothing to do with this. Hey, would like to get into yours?

If they'd like to pay me royalty for the CCP. The P. For the P. The P.

Hmm. Very interesting stuff. Yes. So there's a $25 cigar coming out of United.

Four years have been since the start of this project. They've been working for four years. Four years? Four years, a long time.

Wow. Every aspect of Red Anchor has been carefully crafted to properly encapsulate the 250-year history, said Oliver, somebody, director, Oliver. Who wanted his porridge. Nivaud, Nivaud, Nivaud, N-I-V-A-U-D, Director of Operations at United Cigars.

Oh, you know what, who else is at work? Lisa, I'd like some more. Don't do the poop and pee thing. Please don't do that.

Who's number one? Thank you. Cigar Hustler, the podcast. According to United Cigars, Red Anchor's history dates back to 1770 when a trademark was registered by a cigar shop two years later, Albertus Hillen SIGARENFABRRIEK.

S-I-G-A-R-E-N-F-A-B-R-I-E-K. I think it's probably pronounced Sigafra. Exactly. I got it.

I said it right for a time. Started making the Red Anchor cigars at a factory in Holland. I couldn't say the word. Sounds kind of Russian to me.

I don't know. Red was passed. Red anchor. Little sketch.

Just saying. If I put it in my humidor, is it going to infiltrate my other? It's going to take over your other cigar. It's going to slowly, you know.

Slowly come over to your Ukrainian cigars. Yeah, it's going to take over the Ukrainian cigars. Right. The company added new machines and started using tans, but the brand faced challenges in 1920s due to the, you know, the problem in 1920.

Oh, like the Great Depression. The Great Depression. Yeah, I imagine the Great Depression. Where the government couldn't just hit the button and give everybody a bunch of money.

It was new taxes is what this guy says. New taxes. March 1937, Red Anchor, hey, isn't Red Anchor the guy that fights Captain America? No, that's the one, no, that's Red Skull.

Oh, no, that's the one, that's the one that, that's the one that fought, um, Rocky. Rocky? Oh, oh. Number three.

Dolph Lundgren. Yeah, I must break you. I must break you. That was him, they called him the Red Anchor.

Oh, this isn't the first time Red Anchor's been sold in the last 85 years. Oh, Two Guys Smoke Shop. Surprise. Who's number one?

Cigar Hustler, the podcast. Shares the same owner with United Cigars, by coincidence. Currently lists a different looking red anchor Maduro brand on its website. It's different.

After Cigar Hustler Podcast reached out to Mr. Navad about the cigars listed two guys smoke shop, they were removed. Oh, I've had that happen to me before. Excuse me, this red anchor that you have is not a current red anchor.

Yes, they were a different blend and created a trial basis. United Cigars says additional vitolas are planned for next. So wait a second, but he works with them. Well, the guy at Two Guys is one of the owners of United.

Right. Yes. And now United made the Red Anchor. Yes.

And they had him up at Two Guys. " But Cigar House Podcast contacted Red Anchor, and all of a sudden they came off Two Guys' website. Oh, interesting. Conspiracy theory.

Allegedly. Allegedly. So. Apparently it was a secret.

So it's like, we're working on something together. Yes. " And all of a sudden, you take them down. Oh, I had nothing to do with that.

Nothing to do with this. I don't know what happened. It was Keanu. It was Keanu.

It's always Keanu. It's always Keanu. It's always Keanu. We'll be chatting for much longer time.

Nope. Room 101 adding 13th anniversary. The big payback Nicaraguan. Yeah.

For the fourth year, for the fourth consecutive year, Room 101 will have an anniversary release. I thought they just came out with a 13th. They had a 12th. You had the 12th?

They had the 10th, the 11th, and the 12th. Oh. Now it's the 13th. Okay.

Every year he had an anniversary. I hope it's $75, because I feel like this is the fucking price is right today. Let's read on and see. And let's go.

This year marks the company's 13th year in the cigar business, so the release in the Room 101, 13th anniversary. J. Fernandez, who has produced the 10th and 12th, but not the 11th, apparently. - Skipped on the 11th.

, he made it somewhere else. J. J. was very busy making the banger ring.

- Oh, yeah, he was very busy. - Very busy. We've been penetrating minds and mouths in the game since 2009. - That sounds about like Matt.

- That sounds like Matt. - Yeah. - Many have come and gone since then. Many chapters have been lived and many more are slated to be.

Anniversary Series celebrates our continued antics and our beloved dead plant business. 2022 is the year of the stinky pinky, 'cause they're, they're pink. Stinky Pinky. Stinky Pinky.

Pink box, pink pants, very lovely. Oh. What type of pink is it like a? It's like a lavender pink.

Oh. Very nice. Get your Suck Pike Prime, because this one's coming in hot. S.

We printed the shit upside down just to be sassy. I think it was probably an error, and he just went, you know what, just fucking make all of them that way, that way I don't look stupid. Everything's backwards. No.

All the graphics. You know what, what's really kind of funny, is I actually had a conversation with him about something like that. Yeah, somebody, one person sent him an image of something that was upside down. Right.

And he was like, yeah, let's, you know what, hey, you sent me this upside down, and let's do this. Let's go that way with it. Yeah. Oh, nice.

So somebody fucked up, but before it was too late, he just said, let's go with it. Right. Yeah. Good.

Yeah. Very smart man. See, look at that. Look, people talk to me.

Well, at least Matt and Skip and Rosales. Matt Booth of Room 101 did not reply to an email last week about the cigar. According to the report, the cigar will be limited to 1500 boxes of 20 cigars. In addition, the company will also add the Room 101, the Big Payback Nicaraguan, which will be made by Hoya de Nicaragua.

It too will be a Nicaraguan Puro and be offered in three sizes, blah, blah. The company has not announced pricing for either release. $75. That's what you mean, Matt.

$75. Let's call one inflation, solid hundo. 100 bucks. EBITDA, inflation.

EBITDA. Mm-hmm. Oh, the next one's expensive, too. Don Dorotero.

EIDL loan. Let's call one EIDL loan. What? Like, you know, the government loans that everybody's got.

Oh. So you got to pay those back? You got to pay those back. EIDL.

Don Dorotero. Dorotero? D-O-R-O-T-E-O? Yeah.

I don't know how to say his name. Don Dorotero? Yeah. To make debut at the PCA 2022, after career in tech, Juan Lugio found himself yearning to reconnect with his roots, which included a connection to premium tobacco.

Oh, he was a tech guy, but he was yearning to get back to the dead plant. I'm yearning. I need the dead plant business, please. I need to get back to dead plants.

I have not experienced enough abuse in my life. I must join everyone else in the cigar industry. Oh, his grandfather grew tobacco for La Aurora in the Dominican Republic, dating back to 1936. Wow.

Uh, now, uh, now the man is honoring his grandfather's legacy with a new cigar company called, the name we can't pronounce, which cigar is being produced by La Aurora? Don De Toro. Don De Toro. Don De Toro.

We essentially reconited my grandfather's partnership with La Aurora. I've never heard the man's voice. I don't know what accent it is. I don't know.

I don't know. I don't think he's Dominican. No? Sounds Italian.

You know... You wanna do it? Nah. No?

Okay. Uh, La Aurora in 2021 is amazing. A little bit of this. We put a little bit of that in there.

So with them, over anyone else, Lugio told Cigar's podcast. Lugio? No, Lugo. Lugo.

Lugo? L-U-G-O. Lugo. Lugo.

Lugo. He was working with them from 1936 at the age of 16 when he passed away a decade ago. Now, the business died with him. S.

and Italy. Oh, yeah? Sicily. Sorry, I said Sicily, not Italy.

I think you're doing all right with the Don De Toro. Yeah, the first line will be called the El Legando. We're going to call this one the Godfather. Vanish for the Legacy and will be featured in Ecuadorian Samantha Rapper and Binder with a fillage come from Colombia and Cebo Valley in the Dominican Republic.

The next one, Staten Island. Yeah, and that's going to be in Staten Island and then maybe over by the Bronx. It will be released in five dollars, so they're not all being offered as regular production sizes. A Sicilian kiss is coming.

50 for a Robusto. Quite the deal at this point. That's right. It's very affordable.

I mean, at this point, I can buy five Luca Bratzis instead of one. One of the Masada. Masada. That's right.

Was Masada the highest? Masada was the highest. Yes, yes. No one was $75?

No, no. Matt Booth hasn't said that. He's going to be $75. Yeah, $75.

It's very expensive to print things backwards. It is. It's harder, because they have to keep flipping the thing all the time. No, that's wrong.

It's wrong. No, it's right. Goddammit, stop making these things. The QC people are going crazy.

50 for a Toro, a Corona, $17 for a little Corona. Hey man, fuck around, find out. Let's go. 50.

A lot of crickets are going to be in that PCA. All the cigars we offered to retail. You know, it's so funny. It's like, you guys.

This guy hasn't gone into the industry, I can't wait till he meets some of these fucking guys, these retailers, that are gonna be so shitty, $17, what the fuck, I mean like they're gonna be so upset, they're gonna be so upset, you don't wanna deal with them anyways, you don't wanna do business with them, it's okay. Sorry, just reading the story. You get a deal, buy five, get one. Patoro's Terra Blanche.

Patoro. Blanche. Blanche. B-L-A-N-C-H-E Blanche.

Oh, I meant the Patoro. Getting new size national launch of PCA 2022. $75. $70.

Oh, his are expensive. He was already hired. More like Lucio's, but they're okay. Last November, Patoro launched a new line called the Terra Blanche.

Blanche. Blanche. Blanche. Blanche.

Blanche. Holy shit. This guy can't get a single fucking word right today. Can't get a word right today.

As to that exclusive. Matt Tai is not driving off the highway somewhere. Matt Tai is... He's just using the one camera today.

He's not going to any other cameras at all. He's just relaxing over there. Phil's just taking a nap. It's the exclusive for Industrial Cigar Company of Frisco, Texas.

As the plant, Industrial has been the only retailer to sell the blend for a period of time, but at some point in 2022, Patoro would begin offering the line to other stores. Oh, very nice. I had one that had the orange band. That was pretty good.

Back in the day. And one of them had like a star. It was like the Dr. Seuss star.

Yeah, it had a star on it. You remember that with the little animals? No. There was like an animal, you had to get the star, like you had to be cool, and they all went to this factory to get stamped.

I don't know. Yeah, so as far as I'm concerned, it's kid related. Yeah. Oh, wow.

Alright, we're just going to skip this, I'm just going to move on now. Why? Because it's, okay, the Lancero is $16, the Gordo is $18, and the Robusto is $70. That was $17.

Those are all cheap. Those are all cheap. Those are all cheap. Well, I need to raise the price on BDP, apparently.

Fairly affordable. I'm just giving these things away. It's at $14. Fairly affordable.

And it's a giant Toro. It's a big Toro. Yeah, it's not even a Lancero. Not even a Lancero.

It's a Megalodon. Yeah, Megalodon Toro. Yeah. Right.

Hang on. It's a Dominican tobacco grown by, oh, Mr. Reyes, in the Valley for both its binder and fillers. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Connecticut.

The tobaccos used for the cigar have been aged four to eight years, oh, it's old tobacco too, according to Padrón, the cigars are produced at the Reyes factory in the Dominican Republic. All right. All right, all right, now we have a couple of Florida stories. Oh man, I always see a good Florida story, I forget to like take a picture of it.

Oh, I saw it, we could have had three, but I didn't, the thing I use to get the stories, they rotate through and stuff, but I figured this is a big story, it might come back, but it didn't come back. I should have grabbed it. Damn. Yeah, some guy woke up and found a 12-foot alligator in his swimming pool.

That's not a big story. The picture was great, though. Yeah, that's kind of standard. Well, unless you live in Florida.

Oh, and we have monkeypox now in Florida. That's a big thing. They're the first case down in Broward County. Okay.

Like, how serious is this? Monkeypox? Yeah. Have you seen the photos?

No. Oh, you get these, like, these welts. Yeah. Well, things like all over your hands, your arms, your feet, and your face.

Only one percent, it's not fatal, only one percent of the people die from it, but it's terribly painful, I understand, and it looks nasty. Okay, it's always something with these people. Right. Well, it's Florida.

We don't want to, you know, we want to get it fast and get it. Well, I get it over with and get it over with. We just burn through it. And no COVID, but now we have monkey pox.

So, you know, shut down everything right again. You know, there's that island in the middle of the St. John's River that has all the monkeys on it that you can't go near. If you go near, they attack you.

Oh, really? Yeah. And then in the Ocala National Forest, we have monkeys that have that sexually transmitted herpes that kills humans if they get... If you have sex with them?

No, no. If they, like, scratch you and stuff. Oh, why aren't we killing these things? Because there's too many, apparently.

There's never too many. We could kill them. That's why we're not afraid of COVID. We got these monkeys.

We have the herpy monkeys. We have the herpy monkeys. What's COVID? You get a sniffle and a cough?

Big deal. You get a heartbeat from a monkey. I always get a sniffle and a cough. Now there's monkey pox down in Broward County.

That's where I'm from. Oh, you were just down there. I was. Don't touch me.

Come here. No, you might get it. You might have it. I'm gonna lick your face.

There's one on your hand. You don't get it on your tongue. Oh, if you got it on your tongue, that'd be, ugh, that'd be gross. I feel like I can spread it that way.

All right, Florida woman throws rubber snake at police, tased after high-speed chase. What was she thinking? A Florida woman was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase that injured three motorists and resulted in the suspect throwing a rubber snake at police and being tased following multiple crashes. What were you thinking?

Don LaShaw Lepard was charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer as well as fleeing and eluding the Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed a post shared on its Facebook Thursday, May 19th. Department said Lepardo led deputies on a vehicle pursuit after attempting to run down a Martin County Sheriff's Office motorcycle. Lepardo reported driving between speeds of 80 and 100 miles per hour as she attempted to run down the police motorcycle, according to the department. She's trying to run down a cop?

She's trying to run down a cop. Debbie managed to jump off the motorcycle before being struck and Lepard drove off before being, uh, hold on. Shot at? Before being located by two police vehicles while driving toward Indian town.

During the pursuit, Lepard motioned to the Debbies that she had a gun And drove erratically trying to force the police vehicles to crash. Lepard smashed into one police vehicle and continued causing a rollover crash of an oncoming pickup truck occupied by three people at a time. Holy shit. Deputies were able to stop Lepard's vehicle and when they approached her, Lepard threw a snake!

You've been waiting this whole time for that? All the time to throw the snake, yes, all the time to throw the snake. Wow. I bought that thing on Amazon and I had it on Saturday.

Wow. Were you like expecting me to freak out or something? I should tase you now. Now you're supposed to tase me.

If I had known the story, I would want a taser. The deputies deployed a taser and took Lepard into custody. No deputies were injured during the incident. Lepard is being held on a $90,000 bond.

And Belize said additional charges were possible. You just threw a snake at me. I didn't even react. It hit the arm.

It hit my side. Oh, did it hit you? I was hoping to, like, fall in the nest. Oh, that was terrifying.

Scared the shit out of my wife with it in the bathroom floor. Yeah, because it looks real. It does. It's a pretty good snake.

Like, I would play a trick on my wife, but then there would be... " She took it and threw it in the trash outside. I had to go dig it out of the garbage. Oh, really?

She wouldn't tell me where it was. " So I had to dig through the big garbage again. Yikes. Yeah, it's a good-looking snake.

Yeah. Thanks for throwing it at me. You're welcome. Florida Woman Calls 9-1-1, Insults Employees Over Wrong McDonald's Order.

I need to know the extent of the order and how bad it was fucked up. The Polk County Sheriff-- Before I could weigh in. Oh, it's in Polk County. Look, she didn't get shot.

Grady, Sheriff Grady says you can shoot people. Well, you can for home invasions, yeah. Right. He said, just save us all time.

Save us some tax money. Right. Yeah. I like that guy.

Oh, I like him too. " Yeah, 'cause the guy missed. He shot at him and he missed. McMess, right.

That's why I need a shotgun for home defense. Oh, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said a pregnant Florida woman acted like a McMess. Oh, very nice. Oh.

Very nice. After she called 911 and insulted restaurant workers. Oh, I got to get up. My wife says it's time to get up.

Workers, because her McDonald's order was incorrect. On Friday, the 22-year-old Tianis Jones ordered a Happy Meal with a chocolate shake, a Filet-O-Fish sandwich, tea, and fries in the McDonald's drive-thru. But according to Sheriff Grady Judd, employees asked her to pull up to the window instead of simply being patient with her custom order. Judd explained that Jones went inside the Lakeland fast food location.

Surveillance video from inside the restaurant shows Jones entered the McDonald's and became irate with employees. Despite their efforts to fix the issue or offers to refund her money, Sheriff Judd explained that she even called 911 to complain that McDonald's had gotten her order wrong and things went from bad to worse. It was definitely the Filet-O-Fish that fucked up. The video shows Jones went behind the counter and started throwing a sleeve of cups at employees.

At one point, she even announced that she was pregnant, lifted her shirt, and began twerking out of the restaurant. Wow. There's video online if anyone would like to look this up. Wow.

The Polk County Sheriff said the incident lasted approximately 10 minutes before Jones fled the scene, leaving her sister and mother behind after they attempted to get her to leave. Wait for that! I'm leaving! I gotta fuck up my order!

Where's my Filet-O-Fish, and there's no toy in this. Her sister can be seeing the video trying to calm her down. Calm down, just take it easy, calm down. Don, I fucked up my Filet-O-Fish, there's cheese on it.

I'm gonna tell you right now, if we're in the drive-thru with me, you, and Phil over here, and one of you say, "I'll take the Happy Meal," I'm gonna fucking stop the car and look back at you like you got six fucking heads. 22 years old and you're buying a fucking Happy Meal? Maybe it's for her sister or for her mother. She's pregnant.

Maybe she wanted the apple slices. She's unstable. That's what it is. She should be eating fish.

The two women were cooperating with investigators and were mortified about the entire event. According to the sheriff's office, Jones was arrested on burglary with assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and misuse of a 911 charge. Wow. All right, and we have one final story, Michael.

Are you going to throw something else at me? No, I'm not throwing anything else at you, Michael. I have to get something to show you because the picture will go up here, but I have to show you the picture. A baby giraffe gets needed braces in a loving way.

Terrence? Affordable. Oh, my God. Baby giraffes are super cute, but they still need strong legs for good quality of life.

Oh, I figure you try the cougar every time you go home. I'm older than she is. I'm older than she is. She still qualifies.

Oh. I'd have to be younger. That makes you a cougar. Chasing young prey.

Right. I guess. Isn't your wife older than you? No.

Oh. So you're the cougar. You're the cougar. I am the cougar.

Hey, you got a shop of the week, Michael? Michael, I don't have my shit together this week. Let's just be honest. Mike, oh no.
