ACHP Episode 442 "It Might Not Be Rib Meat?"

Episode Summary
Episode 442 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with Mike Palmer, Mikey and Boots riffing on life around the shop — Mikey's ever-expanding youth flag football "league," a new podcast he's helping Preston launch, and the official launch of the Powstanie San Andrés Corona Gorda, which is now shipping to retailers and open for orders. The crew also teases an upcoming JFR 20th Anniversary Patreon segment and a TV giveaway.
The news block is classic ACHP: a federal class action lawsuit claiming McDonald's McRib contains no actual pork rib meat (filed December 2025 in the Northern District of Illinois), a Polk County, Florida man arrested for trespassing with a loaded handgun concealed under prosthetic silicone breasts, and federal charges against a Cincinnati man accused of smashing windows at Vice President J.D. Vance's Ohio home. The guys also debate a viral clip of a Polish TV show where celebrities impersonate Black musicians in blackface, calling their friend "AC" live on air for a second opinion — a genuinely candid conversation about intent, culture and respecting perspectives you don't share.
On the cigar side, the hosts dig into Illinois House Bill 4250, which would apply the state's 45% wholesale tobacco excise tax to out-of-state online cigar orders starting July 1, 2026 and require remote sellers to obtain a new license — with an example showing a $9.50 cigar jumping to roughly $11.64 before sales tax. They cite Cigar Rights of America's warning that shipping restrictions are among the biggest threats to premium cigars in 2026, then argue over tobacco taxation generally. Release news covers McAuliffe Cigars adding Black and Red 6x60 Gordos to its Color Series as Two Guys Cigars exclusives (both companies owned by Dave Garofalo, $10.29 MSRP, 20-count boxes), plus the CAO Flathead Speed Shop Habano shipping in February with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan filler in three engine-themed vitolas.
The show closes with a mini round of "What's the Score?" using Brooks Whittington's redux review of the RoomPort... the RoomCraft — RoomCraft Tobac Wanderlust Robusto, where Boots takes the win two days running. Tomorrow's guest co-host is announced as Lou Ream of Camacho Cigars.

Welcome to the Skyhouser Podcast, episode 442, I'm Mike Palmer, your host is January 7th, 2025, and with me today in engineering is Mr. Boots, I'm going to be available early mornings, house 1:00 PM, Pipple Hauser. Oh, wow. And then my co-host, Mikey, did my second show with Preston today.
I'm so excited, Stepan Kivich. Welcome to the show, gentlemen. Welcome. Thank you.
I like how now I have been roped into this show now, too. So this is great. You did a great job. If we could bring boots in, too, I mean, you could get the whole show.
Because this way you can't leave us behind. We'll just go to the new show. That's what we were talking about. Remember, we're the old toys.
We're Andy's old toys. Right, Andy's old toys. We don't want to dumb it down by bringing boots in. I tried to explain that to Preston today, how his time is now, but it will soon fade away also.
Did you show him your foot? No, I didn't show him my foot, but that will be next time though. Oh my God, I'm just helping the guy out. What do you want?
Sure, right, yeah, exactly. I enjoy talking about flag football. I mean, it takes so... You enjoy talking about sports?
It's all perfect for you. Yeah, for the kids, man. You've got a big sporty friend now, and I mean, you know? Well, when he told me about it, I said, "Oh, great.
So Mikey's going to create his own league now. This is like evolving. Now he's not the coach anymore. He's going to have his own league.
He did mention today he needs other leagues so that he can have these big national playoff things. This guy has more than one league. Well, he would, the more leagues, the more national playoffs he gets. I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good, dude. You know, you said that before when you were just a score taker, remember? Yeah, remember the score taker days?
I'm only taking score, I'm not going to coach. Yeah. Now I think I heard you have 60 kids this year on football. Oh my lord.
Easily 60 kids. " Uh, his name is Stu. You didn't say the name, you just said somebody's parent texted or emailed him. Yeah.
That's one team? I like helping kids. No. No, no, no, he has more than one team.
Yeah. There's six teams total. Five of them are co-ed boys and then one girl. Do you have six teams?
I have six teams. You have your own league? Almost. What do you call it?
You should have seen what the practice looked like yesterday, bro, it was wild. He has now brought in other fathers to sort of sub-coach for him. Yeah, this is where the league's being created. Right, this is how it happens.
And now Preston's teaching him how to make a league, that's why he's doing the podcast. I want no part of that. I want no part of that. Okay.
I hear it's very lucrative. Oh, as lucrative a podcast? Podcast? No, not podcast lucrative.
Like football lucrative. Let me get something pretty straight. The only reason why I'm doing the podcast is because I want to help him succeed. No, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, okay. And we've invested a ton of time and energy in this. So why not share that information and help somebody grow? Sure.
I get it. We get it. He's a very attractive man. You're a very attractive man?
I said he is. I'm not. I used to be, but I'm getting old now. So now you've moved on to younger.
You find him attractive? Huh? You find him attractive? He's an attractive man.
He's not arguing that point. He's an attractive man. He knows a lot about sports, and his face lights up like yours does when you see him, but his lights up when he talks about sports. It's fun.
It's fun to talk about sports with kids. Well, his probably lights up because he makes a lot of money doing it. Right, probably. You know, I don't think that, like...
Ours don't light up. Ours don't light up when we do this anymore. First of all, that's none of our business. No, it's none of our business.
No, yeah, yeah. But I will tell you this, I mean, like, I have watched this guy coach progressively over the past, I don't know, five years or so, six years, And he's helped me when he didn't need to. Right. He went out of his way and explained things to me so that I would be a better coach.
Right. Yeah. So, now he's further along his journey, he runs his league, and he's doing a great job. He's coaching, you know, he coaches his kids, he coaches a kid with me, coaches Teddy with me, because he's got a little girl.
Yeah. Of course, I want to return the favor, I want to help the guy whenever I can, just kind of like the person that I am. Look at the way his eyes sparkle when he talks about him. So, in about 50 years.
My eyes sparkle more when I talk about you, baby. No, they don't. Oh, yeah. They used to, they don't anywhere.
We're the old toys. That's because you want to know what happens? Right, Buzz? Right.
Because I walk in, I say, hey, we got to talk about, I want to, I need, we're, first of all, Polsania San Andreas Corona Gordo is about to be launched, so this is happening. Not to be, it has been. It is officially launched, so we are taking orders. It has hit the airwaves and things.
And it's going to retailers. com. So, my point is though, that, I don't know what my point is now, I did that whole deviated off of it. It's alright, in 50 more episodes, we'll to be continued.
Oh, so here's the deal, I walk in, I say, hey, let's, so we're transitioning over to this site, I want this website to be our wholesale operation for all of our products, and then I want to have a user-friendly built-up system so that a retailer can go in, see what they purchased in the past, and then place additional orders by themselves if they don't want to talk to you, right, or me. So, "Hey, we're pushing for this. Let's get the quantities right. Palmer, I need you to double check.
" Oh, Lord. We were verifying for the press release. Yeah. And when I said last night, I'll ask Greg, if Greg doesn't know, then I will count them.
You didn't say anything about that, so that's what I did today. I didn't see that you texted. Yeah, I texted that last night. " When I was working on the press release at 9 o'clock.
And then as I'm doing stuff running around the store or whatever, Greg walks in and Palmer says, hey, I need the quantities for this. I'm like, he's not going to know this. He keeps the inventory for everything. Reminds me of Braveheart.
Here, you do it. I'll hold them down. I handed you the stick. And then you just said, here, you do it.
I'll hold them down. You would have said last night, just count them. I wouldn't even wait on Greg to show up today. I got here at 7 o'clock to set this room up for you.
Things are so much easier if we just do it. And Princeton. All right, we will no longer include Greg in any of our fun and games. Perfect.
No, except for the squirt gun one. Well, that's different. Yeah, we talked about those. What are we doing for the Patreon?
The JFR 20th anniversary. How's that look? It looks great. Twice as good as the 10th anniversary on the other one that I don't remember us doing.
He's coming to town on Friday, by the way. Greg? Terrence. Oh.
Oh, is he coming here? Oh, can we do the squirt guns thing with him? He offered to be here, but it's like Friday at 6:00. Oh, nah, too late.
I have plans. You have plans? Yeah. Not really.
I mean, I can be here at six, I guess. Wait, Friday. When is it? This is the TV Friday.
This Friday? What's TV? We're giving away the TV this Friday. Yeah, the boots.
So I'll be here till seven. You won't. You have football. No, he has a whole league.
The games haven't started yet. The Preston. The Thunder League. You're terrible, people.
All right, on today's show, McDonald's is being sued a class action lawsuit. Of course. You can't hide your gun in your boobs in Polk County. D.
Vance is breaking glass. Then in cigars, Illinois is not online friendly. Two guys get another exclusive cigar and CAO is moving fast to a new cigar. Then a mini what's to score.
All this and more in episode 442 of a Cigar Hustler podcast. Yay. You have sound effects over there now. We can't hear them.
Oh, yeah. Never mind. We can't hear them so they won't be funny. Oh.
But first, Mikey, how do you get some That's CHPod swag, and we have one listener who is concerned if John Carney got his yet. Yeah, he has not. What you want to do... No beanies still either.

McDonald's is being sued over what's in the McRib. Because there's no ribs? He's not hitting buttons. He's texting.
No, I was trying to send you all the video. Oh. Fast food giant McDonald's is facing a federal class action lawsuit that claims, The lawsuit that claims fan favorite McRib sandwich doesn't actually contain any pork rib meat. S.
C. The plaintiff argues that McDonald's markets the McRib in a way that leads reasonable customers to believe they're getting a premium cut of pork rib. Come on. It's called a McRib.
So what? This is ridiculous. Go ahead, continue. Instead, the suit says the sandwich patty is made from restructured pork using lower-grade cuts such as pork shoulder, heart, stomach, and tripe.
Well, if it still has pork, it's still pork. And the sandwich is shaped to resemble ribs to reinforce that impression. They argue that McDonald's has misled customers and could have charged more for a product consumers thought was real rib meat. The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status on behalf of anyone who bought a McRib in recent years.
Fred Rui is going to be rich. Fred Rui is going to be richer he's going to have richer he's in Iceland right now buying Iceland I believe he's buying ice oh he had to go there for ice and are asking for damages restitution and changes in the way McDonald's markets a sandwich McDonald's has strongly denied the allegations issue in a statement calling the lawsuit inaccurate and saying it's McRib is made with 100% pork source from US farmers and that the company has always been transparent about the ingredients McRib first debuted back in 1981 has become a cult favorite and a favorite of Fred Rui. We often return to menus for a limited time. Some legal experts say the sandwich's limited time availability actually discourages deep consumer scrutiny.
This is wild, man. People sue about anything, but the funny part is they've got five people from five different places. Yeah, because you can find an idiot anywhere, right? So, I mean, like, do you think that they should be suing McRib McDonald's for this?
No, because I like the McRib and I don't want to go away. I don't like them. They're kind of gross. I don't, that's not what this is about.
This isn't about if you like it or if you don't like it. It's just- It is to be in boots. It shouldn't be, is it- I hear Preston doesn't like it either. Hmm.
Okay. So do you think that realistically they should be suing about a rib, about the fact that it's called McRib and they feel like it's not enough pork product? No, they're suing about, because they call it McRib, but it's not a rib. Right.
Not that it's not pork. It's not a rib. Yeah, it's a rib. It's not rib meat.
Well, I guess it's a riblet. No, not even a riblet. There's no rib meat at all. What was it called back in the day when you were in elementary school?
Yeah, that was it, riblets. No, no, somebody had riblets, but they had little bones in them. No, no, no, I know what you're talking about. Those are like ones you could buy at like Walmart.
No, you could get them at a restaurant. Maybe like Quincy's or something. Yeah, something like that. But no, I know what you're talking about.
Yeah. And they were called riblets in school. Oh, you know. Oh, school lunch?
Yeah. Yeah. Well, maybe that was rib meat. I don't know.
That was one of my favorite days. That's why you eat the McRib so much. Yeah, I love it. And if they had turkey tetrazzini at McDonald's, I'd eat that too.
What if it didn't have turkey in it? I don't care. What if it was a peacock? Who cares?
It's exotic. So do we get to suit Disney over the turkey legs that aren't turkey? Yeah. Those are turkey legs, aren't they?
No, they're emu, allegedly. Oh, I would call them emu legs. Yeah, you could probably get more money. Right.
That's right. Over in Animal Kingdom, we have emu legs. Oh, I would like seven. Very exotic.
Right. If they're not turkey, if we find out that they're not turkey, do we get to sue? You can, I guess, if they call them turkey legs. Yeah, you can sue.
You can't mislead the public. I mean, I'm sorry. It's a thing. So you think that McRib is misleading?
Because it's not rib meat. I'm not saying that people are going to win. It's a stupid, frivolous lawsuit. It's another one of those, hey, look, I found a way to make money.
Right. There's a lady suing SeaWorld because she got hit in an eye by a duck on the roller coaster, but a duck didn't hit her. It was an emu. Not an emu.
It was an emu? Jesus. It was an egret. An egret?
But the law in Florida says if SeaWorld didn't bring the ducks in or the egret, she can't sue them because they just happened to show up. An egret's a pretty big thing. Oh, so the shoe doesn't have a case to stand on? No.
Because it's not SeaWorld's egret. That's interesting. It would be like if I went outside and a crow came and popped me in the eye and I sued you. It's not your crow.
It's not my crow. Your crow. You didn't bring the crow. I almost pulled that story, but it was really short.
That was the end of the story. Should I put up safety measures to keep crows away from you? No. Should you?
Yes, but I also have pain and suffering and disfigurement. First of all, people go to McDonald's thinking that they're getting 100% beef or chicken or ribs. Is it beef? I thought it was beef.
Isn't it beef? No, I'm saying like any of it. Like if you get a hamburger, you think it's 100% beef? I'm pretty sure it is 100% beef.
They say it's 100% beef. All beef patties. It's not all beef, bro. All beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickle, onions, and a sesame seed bun.
You've seen the video of how long it can last on a dashboard. That's not beef. Sure it is. It just has chemicals in the beef.
It's not only beef. Okay, that's not 100%. Yeah, it is. It's delicious.
Yeah, well, exactly, but I'm just saying. Yeah, it's delicious. I love them at McDonald's hamburgers, but they're good. And they're good everywhere.
I've had them in three different countries. They're all the same. I've had the McRib in Nicaragua. You know, you're a seasoned McDonald's vet when you order it and you're like, this one's off.
Yeah. This one's overcooked. A little less potassium in this one, I think. Something's wrong.
A little less sodium. McDonald's never has that issue. I've gone to McDonald's and have different experiences with their cheeseburgers. Really?
Yeah. Weird. So you didn't, you didn't just get chicken by mistake? You just tell when something's fresh and when it's not as fresh.
Oh yeah, you do it with fries, you're like fries are terrible. The fries are always different per place. Okay. Whoever's making them.
Yeah. Yeah. Whoever's making them. Sometimes salt, sometimes.
Yeah. Oh, first of all, whoever's not putting salt on the fries is a dick. Wow. Wow.
Maybe they don't like as much salt. You're, you know, Burger King stopped doing that because people were having like medical issues And they were getting sued. What, stopped serving McDonald's fries? No, they stopped.
No, they stopped putting salt on their fries at Burger King. Oh. So, like, when I started, you know, I like Burger King out of all of them. Oh, well, good for you, because there's no crowds ever at Burger King.
Exactly. So, anyway, so I go to Burger King, and, like, there's no salt in these fries, and it just tastes like crap, right? Yeah. " I'm like, ugh.
I like the onion rings because they're different, but after two, I'm like, ugh, these aren't any good. They're the only place that serves onion rings. Right. So you go and get them, you eat two, and you're like, ugh, now they're terrible.
You know, when somebody told me that about the onion rings, they're the only place that serves onion rings. Yeah. It made me really think. It is.
Really? Are they the only place? Yeah. McDonald's doesn't have onion rings.
McDonald's doesn't. Wendy's doesn't. Arby's doesn't. None of those places do.
, Jack in a Box. Chick-fil-A? Nope. They just have the Jesus fries.
Isn't that crazy? Jesus Fries and the Lord's Chicken. And now you can order a half and half, you can get half fried, half onion rings. Really?
That's the way to go, because then you're not stuck with all the onion rings, you just get a couple. Right. And then you're satisfied, and then you just eat the fries. I like the half and half.
Yeah, the half and half. Welcome to this episode of Where to Eat in Fast Food with your host, Boots. Oh, hello. With your Boots-isms.
Boots-isms. All right, it was ugly. It was a scene deputies say they won't forget anytime soon. A Florida man is behind bars after Polk County deputies say he was caught trespassing at a construction site, and what they allegedly found on him made the arrest even stranger.
According to authorities, deputies were called out after a suspicious person was reported wandering through an active construction zone. When they arrived, they located the man and detained him for trespassing. That's when the encounter took a bizarre turn. Okay.
During the search, deputies discovered the suspect was wearing prosthetic silicone breast. Hidden underneath them was a loaded firearm, according to the Sheriff's Office. Investigators say the man had intentionally concealed the gun beneath the fake breast in an apparent attempt to avoid detection. Deputies described the situation bluntly, calling it ugly and something they don't expect to ever see again anytime soon.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Polk County Jail. He now faces multiple charges, including trespassing, illegal possession of a concealment of a firearm, depending on the outcome of the investigation. Oh, so he didn't have a concealed weapons permit? No.
Out of all the stories, this really makes me concerned about Palmer's algorithm on his phone, that he's looking up these stories. I have to go find stories. This isn't easy to do every single day. Prosthetic breasts, that was the best story?
It was funny. And he likes to find stuff that makes you uneasy. And this is definitely in that category. No.
It doesn't make you... It was funny, the picture, the man is dressed in like a bustier with the fake breast on and smeared makeup on his face. He's just a wacko. You want Buffalo Bill style?
Yeah. But he had the gun hidden underneath the fake boob like they're not going to look. What kind of gun? It was a small caliber weapon, I don't know, I didn't say.
Would you hide a gun under your prosthetic boobs? Boots? Hello, Boots, hello. I'm not answering.
Why not? I'm not engaging. Where would you hide a gun? I'm not engaging.
Yeah, if you had to hide a gun on your body, where would you hide it? Yeah, where would you hide it? We're not talking about prosthetic boobs anymore, are we? No.
No, just a small firearm, like an LCP or something. I'll push you into it slowly. That's even weirder. Where would you hide it?
Prison wallet? Prison wallet? Prison wallet. No, it'd just probably be like on my right side somewhere.
Down under your ball sack or something? 22 or... Yeah, it was something small. It wasn't a revolver.
Yeah, it's only a B-cup. Yeah, they weren't giant boobs. Yeah, it wasn't a double-edged. That would have been obvious.
Yeah. First of all, they weren't boobs at all. Well, they were silicone boobs. How do you know?
They were prosthetics. Maybe they were plastic. Because they said silicone, I have to cut these stories down. They're really long sometimes.
And I know his attention span won't last for the entire story. I'm sorry, are you done? All right, next one. Yep, there's the yawn.
Where's he hiding the gun? Just in his waistband? That's not really hidden. Yeah, I put it on the side.
That's probably where you have it every day. Well, you gotta be ready for the bears, buddy. You gotta have a gun for the bears. That gun's not stopping anything.
No, no, 22 is not stopping a break. You're just pissing it off. Yeah. If it even goes in.
Okay. All right, moving on to the next story. D. Vance's home faces federal charges.
Uh-oh. He's in trouble. D. Vance sounds like a furniture store.
Kind of does. Where'd you get your new couch? D. Vance.
D. Vance. They have their own financing. He probably does.
Zero percent down. Law enforcement in Cincinnati has arrested a 26-year-old man who had alleged He looks like he's 12. Yeah. Very strange.
S. D. Vance in the early hours of Monday, and now the suspect is facing federal charges. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight in Cincinnati's East Walnut Hills neighborhood where Secret Service agents assigned to Vance's residence responded to reports of a break-in attempt.
So, apparently, they're not right there at the house if they had to respond. No. So the guy got up to the house. Okay.
Seems odd for a vice president. 's there? No, no, he wasn't there. Right.
But still, you know. What, are you going to guard an empty house? It's the vice president's house in Ohio. I guess.
Do you know where the vice president lives daily? The... Boots, you should know. The West Wing?
No. Boots, where's the vice president living in Washington? I actually have no idea. He lives on a...
Michael's taking naps over there. He lives on a naval base at the big fancy house that normally the guy in charge of the Navy base would live at. On the captain's quarters? Yeah.
Naval base? He lives on whatever naval base is right there. Really? Officials say the suspect identified as William DeFore, not the actor.
Dr. Foe. Well, that's close. Used a hammer to smash multiple windows at the property.
A Secret Service vehicle was also reportedly damaged during the incident. Guy had a lot of time at the house. At the house. Yeah, and it was just an empty vehicle.
At the time of the attack, Vice President, well, no, the Secret Service were sleeping in the vehicle. Oh, were they? Yeah. They were supposed to be watching the house.
You're fired. Yeah, right. Those guys aren't going to get, they're not going to keep going, though. C.
for the week. Authorities say Defoe was trying to enter the home when Secret Service, oh, but not William Defoe, it's different. No. DeForge agents detained him and Cincinnati police took him into custody.
DeForge now faces a range of federal charges, which may include damaging government property, criminal trespass, and resisting federal officers, as federal prosecutors work with the Secret Service and local police on the case. Prosecutors also noted that causing significant damage to the property associated with the federal officials can bring serious penalties. According to court records, DeForge has a history of vandalism, prior encounters with the legal system, including a previous charge that led to a mental health court treatment. That's the treatment order.
He's meditating. What? He was meditating. What did he say?
I can't hear him. He said that I'm meditating. Oh, you're meditating. Yeah.
He's thinking about Preston. This was the chair he sat in. Oh, he sat in Mikey's chair. Mikey gave him his chair.
Wow. I know. And his good camera. That's how you know.
Yeah. It's not exactly like I'm a bad person or something. No, no, no. Why does that make you a bad person?
Why are you jealous? I'm not jealous. I'm just letting the listeners in on our everyday lives that are behind the scenes. So they need to know what's going on.
Yep. All right, Boot, you got a video? Because Mikey didn't bring one. I do.
I sent it to you guys on... It would only let me send it to you on Instagram for some reason. What? You got to screen record it, dude.
Nobody knows how to do that but you. Yeah, how do you do that? You drop down and then you hit the red dot. Is it the one with this?
That's not it. I didn't get it. I didn't get it. I didn't get it either.
What's the name of your account on Instagram? Wow. Maybe I haven't, I don't know, are you Epicurean Smokes? No, that's Steve.
I just sent it to you, Palmer. How? On Instagram, what are you talking about? Oh, there it is.
And I just sent it to Mikey. Now, the background of this video, just so you guys know, is, this is from, this is from Skip. He wants to know what your guys' thoughts are on this. White performer.
Hurts my eyes. You're pulling, there's a TV show where celebrities dress up as musicians and perform in blackface? Yes. Oh, so that guy dressed up as Snoop is a white guy?
Oh, it's the guy down in the bottom corner. Right. Ah, I see. Okay.
So, who wanted to see this? Skip. I think he always says Skip when he says Skip. No, it really was from Skip.
You want to know what your guys' thoughts were on this? I thought the Snoop guy looked kind of weird. I mean, they're dressing up to look like people. They look like the same person that they're acting and performing as.
They're acting and performing as. Right, it's not like they're wearing, you know, blackface from back in the, whatever it was, the 40s. Yeah, it's like they're trying to comically make fun of a race. The guy with the mustache is pretty good because you can't see his mustache.
Yeah. I mean, if it's only blackface? Well, they're doing a black person. I mean, they're doing a famous black person, is what I mean.
Well, the show only does black people. Okay. Oh, and it's in Poland. Yeah, ironically.
Oh, I didn't read the top. Stop. In Poland, there's a TV show where celebrities dress up as musicians, but form in blackface. Yeah.
Oh, so these are celebrities that are dressing up. No, I think they're regular people that just dress up as black celebrities. It says there's a TV show where celebrities dressed up as musicians and perform in blackface. So these are probably Polish celebrities.
Oh, well, we don't know. Maybe they don't know it's blackface. Well, maybe because it's different in our society. They don't know it's black.
Do they pick a winner? Do you think that these people are trying to be malice? I don't know. I don't think they're trying to be hurtful towards a race.
Yeah, I don't think it's a racist thing at all. I thought it was just kind of weird. They're just impersonating. It's weird because it's not accepted.
Go ahead, sorry. You go. You should see the shows in Japan. Have you seen those things where they have to make the girl pee or something, then you win?
What? Yeah, because it's not accepted in our culture. That's why it's weird. Are there a lot of black people in Poland?
I don't know. I would probably guess not. They are, they are, they are American celebrities, so that they're impersonating, so maybe there's not. Right.
This guy, you wouldn't even know, the first one. Yeah, I didn't, yeah. That's why I didn't know what was wrong. I thought it was a fancy background.
Is that J. Cole? What? Was the first one J.
Cole? The Snoop Dogg guy's pretty good, too. No, he looks awkward. Well, I mean, it's like the.
Like if Snoop and Martha were to have a kid. It's the Teemu Snoop Dogg. It's Kendrick Lamar. Oh, Kendrick Lamar.
Ray Charles? Not Ray Charles. Stevie Wonder? Yeah, Stevie Wonder.
Thank you. That one was funny. He looks up. I don't have a problem with it.
Tell Skip it's fine. Tell him we can keep watching it. We don't care. All right.
Well, now you told me that he watches this show five days a week. He's going to hear it. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he's already complimented on.
He loves that we're on every day. Yeah, I don't see the issue, whatever. But then again, listen, I'm also not a black guy. Like, you know.
Oh, yeah. Ask one of your friends, Boots. Ask my one? I said one of them.
Oh, one of them. Not the one. Hold on. You want me to send it to?
Oh, we're going to ask now. Oh, please. Who are you calling? Ask Preston.
Jesus. Are you calling? Call my guy. We're never getting off the phone.
It's only an hour long show. Who's it? Howard G? No, you'll find out in a minute.
What's up, boy, boy? Hey, listen, we're on the podcast real quick, I'm going to send you a video on Instagram, and then I want you to call me back, I'm sorry if I just woke you, and I want you to tell me if it's racist or not. Yes. All right, but now you don't get to monopolize a ton of time on the podcast, only just a couple of minutes, okay?
Am I on right now? Yes, you're on right now. All right. All right, I'll call you, call me right back after you watch this.
Yes. All right, bye. This is my guy. So, let's see here.
It's a mystery, a mystery black friend? My boy, AC. It's AC. When he does AC, or?
No, no. Because I know you usually name people with like professions that they do. No, no. Yes, he's an AC repairman.
He's actually, he's actually an EMT, and he goes, and he's a traveling EMT. Oh, nice. So, he's extremely smart, and we have... He loves to talk.
He loves to talk. We have long conversations. But usually, if he calls me, I'm like, you got five minutes. Oh, yeah.
He now also texts and calls Steve upstairs. I gotta set a timer. I gotta set a timer. And you know what, five minutes is never five minutes, it's always like 30.
It's never five minutes. I'm like, bro, we're 25, 25 minutes past the five minute conversation, and I'm knee deep in like three different things. We talked on one day the entire trip from Orlando to Miami. Yeah.
Oh, nice, four hours. Four hours. Yeah. And we would hand the phone back and forth.
Here's Palmer, ask him some questions. He's cool. He's my guy. Well, he's gonna call us back and let us know if it's racist.
Yeah, so do we have to wait a second? No, we'll carry on. We'll go back. Well, this next story is really good, though.
All right, so good. It's wearing the cigar news now. Oh, you don't. Oh, please.
God, yes. Good. Illinois' bill would add tobacco tax to online orders. You heard about this yet?
No. A new bill introduced in Illinois could soon make buying cigars online a lot more expensive for consumers in the state. The proposal, known as House Bill 4250, would require Illinois' tobacco excise taxes to be applied to cigars and other tobacco products purchased from out-of-state retailers. And ship to Illinois.
In simple terms, if you buy cigars online and you live in Illinois, you'd be paying more. The bill doesn't just affect cigars, it also covers e-cigarettes, vaping liquids, pipe tobacco, and snuff. And if it wouldn't only apply to internet sales, any out-of-state retailers shipping tobacco products in Illinois would be impacted. So it's going to be like Hawaii.
All major changes out of state. Oh, another major change. Out of state retailers would be required to obtain a new remote retail seller's license just to ship products into the state. The biggest impact come from taxes starting July 1st, 2026.
Cigar excise tax, 45% of the wholesale price with no cap would apply to these shipped orders. Here's what that looks like in real life. 50 might currently cost about that amount when to purchase online. 64 before sales tax.
So, we had this question when we were talking about the other one. They charge sales tax after you pay this. Right. And in places like Cook County, local tobacco taxes could push the price even higher.
The bill currently has no co-sponsors, but the pressure behind it is easy to see. Illinois' brick and mortar retailers already pay these taxes and may argue that online sellers have an unfair advantage. Anti-tobacco groups are unlikely to oppose the measure, and many lawmakers may support it simply because it brings in more tax revenue. Hmm.
Wild, man. Hmm. Cigar Rights of America warns that shipping restrictions are becoming one of the biggest threats facing premium cigars in 2026. According to the CRA, mail order sales account for roughly half of the premium cigar purchases and limiting shipping would dramatically reduce how consumers access cigars.
Okay. Pause that. Yo, you're on. You're on the podcast.
What's going on, man? What's up, man? I appreciate the invitation. Yes, sir.
You get my normal energy, however I came down with a real deal of flu. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Don't worry about it.
No, it's still present. Okay. Might have heard my wife coughing in the background. All right.
Next time you call me, it's full-fledged. Anyways, the question is, is that clip racist? Yes. Absolutely.
There you go. He's in denial. I admit it. We are.
We're white guys. Yeah, we're white guys. You're both in denial. And he's Polish.
Michael's Polish. It's from his homeland. Right, right. I couldn't hear what else.
He says, he says, well, I'm Polish and it's from my homeland is what he said. So you're really racist. I'm super racist. Okay.
All right. Well, there you go. All right. Feel better.
Bye. Why do you guys think it's not? I don't. I just think it's a different culture.
It's a different area. I don't think that they're intentionally trying to insult somebody. I think that they're trying to act impersonate a person. So that's why I think that it's not.
Yeah, I think you do. You can do that when it comes to a play, like The Nutcracker, right? I don't think it's discriminatory to reenact The Nutcracker because it's a play, but you're creating these renditions that aren't naturally recreated. Does that make sense?
Naturally, you don't go recreate a Drake concert. Drake just performs. All right. So, I think...
You got 10 seconds. I'm just surprised you guys don't think it's racist. Yeah. Interesting, man.
Interesting stuff. Enjoy. All right. Love you, buddy.
Talk to you. Call him later. He's sick. All right.
So... He's sick. He's still talking for an hour. So there you go.
So there it is. So, I mean, he couldn't hear me, obviously. So the show the Wayan brothers did where they dressed up like two white girls? White chicks.
Yeah, is that racist? I don't know. Funny as hell. Right.
Maybe racist. I don't know. I don't know. It's hard to navigate through all this stuff.
I agree with you because they're not doing it to make fun of the person. Right. They're impersonating the person. Whoever does the best, probably some type of game show.
Right. America's Got Talent type thing. Right. However, we are white guys.
We are white, not black. Right, exactly. So we have to respect someone else's perspective and opinion. Certainly.
As we always do. He said I agreed with you. I'm pretty sure Dave Chappelle talked about us before on the show. Did he?
It's racist. Yeah? But it's funny. That's how Dave used to say it.
You know, it doesn't feel like funny racism to me. It just feels like they're trying to impersonate a person. I don't even think it's aiming to be funny. Yeah, they're trying to be the actual person.
Right, there are plenty of people that are, you know, funny racist on both sides of that format, but, you know, not in this scenario. When you saw Stevie Wonder at the end, you didn't giggle a little bit? I know. I always giggle when somebody impersonates Stevie Wonder.
I thought he looked like Stevie Wonder. I always giggle. I always giggle. Just a little bit.
Like, oh, he's looking at the CLM. He's looking at the CLM. Look at you, dude. You're too much.
I'm sorry. So there you go. All right. All right.
If this bill gains traction, Illinois cigar smokers and online retailers could be feeling the effects very soon. Like, how? Yeah. Because the price will go up.
Yeah, but so like, I send it in. Send it in. Well, not only will the price go up, but you have to re-register. Okay.
But I send it in. I send it in to a customer. Okay. That I've been dealing with for 10 years.
How are they going to know? Don't know how that works. I don't know. I guess if somebody tattles on you.
And then what do they do? You can't sell here anymore. All right. Yeah.
Then I ship to the next guy. Well, hey. You owe us. Just don't go to AC's house and look for my cigars.
I've been shipping the Boots over in Peoria. Hey, you owe us XYZ. I was like, what are you going to do? Come get me?
I'm in Florida. You're in Illinois. What do you want from us? We're in Illinois.
We didn't think about the second steps. We didn't think this through, obviously. Give us some time. Send me a fine.
Quick, somebody call California, see how they're doing it. Right. Like what? All right, you got to be on a list.
We're the United States, but I'm in a different one. Not anymore. We're Illinois. We seceded from the union.
Oh, Lord. Well, at this point, then I'm down. Us and California. I just won't go to Illinois.
And Hawaii. So wild. It's a big overreach. So you feel this is not going to affect you?
Aren't we registered in like Ohio or something because they have a special thing we're going to be registering? Yeah, we're registered wherever we need to be. Wherever we have to be. So is Greg going to register and then we're just going to ship without telling the people?
We filled out the form. Allegedly. What's ridiculous to me, look, there shouldn't be taxes on tobacco, period. There shouldn't be.
You know, I like to argue this simple aspect always over and over again, and, you know, it sounds really dumb, but like, they print the money. They print the money. Go get the money from the guy who prints it. Why are you taking anything from your citizens of the United States?
I just don't understand that. Well, you don't think we should pay taxes at all? No. Is there any tag...
Is there any... Well, if they keep printing money, the money is going to be worth less. Well, they print it and they just use it for their stuff. First of all, how many years have you been playing Monopoly?
How many years? Yeah, and a $100 bill is still a $100 bill on it, right? With inflation? It's not real life.
That doesn't matter if it's real life or not. Is there any tobacco grown in the United States? Yeah, of course. Over in Connecticut, Virginia, you know.
Florida, unfortunately. No, not really. Over in, you know, Whatsoville over there. I couldn't think of the name of the city.
We're Polish. I mean, I don't disagree. I don't completely agree. I think there should be taxes, but there should be, like, thought-out taxes.
Like, if you're already getting tobacco from Nicaragua, you're already being taxed because of the importation and customs and all that stuff, right? So you shouldn't be taxed on that again, wherever it's going, right? So, like, when you sell it to somebody, like, there shouldn't be a sales tax on that. Oh, I see what you're saying.
Well, for me, the more I hear politicians talk, the more I'm concerned that they're in charge. It doesn't matter what side of the line they're on. I'm like... Well, of course they're in charge.
Oh, my God. We, as a community, have come up with this idea where we're like, we're all going to go to this church, and we're all going to vote. And we're going to let this guy tell us what to do, and then we all get pissed off at this guy after we put him in whatever office he's in. You know, it's like, yeah, I agree.
He or she. Or he or she, yeah. Yeah. I do agree with that portion.
But I disagree, and I think there should be some type of taxes. Right. But just, like, thought out ones. You know, stop attacking us three times.
Okay. You okay with it, Palmer? I'm fine. You're on the downward.
You were, like, really high when you came in. Now you're like. I'm afraid my phone's going to ring. AC's going to call me.
He's sick. Yeah, he's sick. So? And it was super racist.
He didn't have to walk here! You know, first of all, I love, I have long, in-depth conversations with AC about all sorts of things. Oh, yeah, I'm sure. And, you know, especially when something goes on and it's a hot topic, you know, because I like to hear his perspective.
Right. And it's perfectly fine for me to agree or disagree with him, but I can still respect his perspective. Of course. You know, that's what's the problem with our society is that everybody feels like they have to agree with him all the time.
Well, no, that's not how it works. Like everybody comes from so many different walks of life, and you're never going to walk in their shoes, so you should still respect their opinion, no matter how different it is from yours, right? Yeah, everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. As long as they have good intentions, right?
Like they have to, a person has to have good intentions. Right. Because there are people that have bad intentions with really, really flawed perspectives, and you're like, yeah, I got nothing here, you know? Right.
Like the Venezuelan guy? Well, I mean, it depends on who you ask, apparently. Yeah. You know?
No input, Palmer, huh? Nothing? No. No, he lets me go on my tangents.
He goes, what? He let me go on my tangents. Certainly, I respect your opinion, it's your opinion, so go ahead. Yeah, and Preston and I believe the same thing.
I would imagine. Yeah. I did make Preston aware today, but I think I've already mentioned it, so now he knows he's in the relationship. I opened the door up for that.
I said he's mad. Oh, I know you did. You told him. Yeah.
Right. 'Cause I really wasn't gonna bring it up again, but he seemed okay with it, so it's fair game now. McAuliffe is- He's a good guy. I like Preston.
Yeah. Yes. He's a good dude. McAuliffe adding color series Gordo's is two guys exclusive.
Later this month, McAuliffe Cigars is expanding, excuse me, its popular color series with the new Gordo size release available exclusively through one retailer. Two guys, but one retailer. Two guys, one retailer. Yes.
According to the Cigar Authority, McAuliffe will debut Black and Red Gordos, both in 6x60 Vitola, as exclusive releases for New Hampshire-based Two Guys Cigars. Both companies are owned by Dave Garofalo. The report also notes that the new Gordo size is expected to roll out across the broader Color Series lineup, which currently includes blue, green, and purple. Looking ahead, McAuliffe has already announced plans to introduce two new Color Series blends.
You guys want to guess what it is? Guess the colors. One of the other eight. Well, they've done purple.
Yes, I just listed the three that they've already done, so it's not one of those. Purple, red, and blue? No, they've done green. I want to know the two new ones, not the ones they've already done.
What are the three they did? I just said it, you should have been listening. It's going to be yellow. Are you texting Preston?
Yeah. I miss you already. Green, they're going to do green. They've already done green.
Okay, yellow. I've already done yellow. Red. You didn't say that.
I've already done red. Purple. Yeah, I've already done purple. Purple was the last new one.
The last new one. Okay. Great. It's orange and white.
You guys, I mean... Well, why don't you just let us get there? Each in the new, 'cause you were guessing the colors they've already had, 'cause you didn't listen when I was talking about it. 'Cause you talk a lot.
That's a podcast. We kinda have to? Yeah, you're a star. Oh, we'll just, I'll sit here the rest of the show and not talk.
No, I don't have to. I can just, we'll let you talk sometimes. They're not talking. You know, you've attacked me several times, now I'm shutting down.
That's what happens. Oh, great. They're both shutting down. That's what happens.
They're both shutting down. 20 minutes of nothing. Palmer, don't let this happen. This is how Preston moves in.
Hey, thanks so much for doing the flag football thing. I need you to stay for the Cigar Podcast. Just read off this teleprompter. Hey, just sit down there.
That's fine. Palmer, I need you to-- Put this hat on and we're fine. Yeah, wear this hat. Palmer, update the teleprompter.
Each of the new Gordos will carry an MSRP of 1029. It will be packaged in 20 count boxes, keeping the pricing competitive for a large format cigar. Blend wise, the McAuliffe Black Gordo features a Mexican San Andreas wrapper, an Ecuadorian Habano binder, and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. The McAuliffe Red Gordo uses a Mexican San Andreas Habano wrapper, Pennsylvania Broadleaf binder, grown in Nicaragua, and a filler blend of Mexican and Nicaraguan tobaccos.
This isn't the first time McAuliffe has leaned into retail exclusives in late 2024. the company released a soft box-pressed Toro in its black blend exclusively for Abe down at Smoke Inn. Followed by similar exclusives in the blue and red lines, is now McAuliffe has not publicly commented on any other new releases. They say that cigars starting Wednesday, January 24th will be available.
So who's in charge of that company now? McAuliffe? That old guy. Is it still the old guy or is it the daughter?
Yeah, I didn't know the girl. Dude, I've seen the girl with a lot more advertising stuff now. Well, that's Lauren. She's their salesperson.
You talking about her? Yeah, that's their salesperson. Okay, that makes sense. Do you have a problem with Lauren Coper?
I think her name is. You got a problem with Garofalo having an exclusive? No, not at all. It's just news.
No, he normally has an exclusive with McAuliffe, right? Yeah. And I'm pretty sure he's handling distro for him now. Oh, is he?
Oh, is he? Yeah. That I don't know. Yeah, I think that's the case.
I can find out. I know the sales lady. I think he's doing distro. I'm not positive, but I think he is.
I can find out. Who are you going to call, Mikey? No, I'm going to ask my friend Lauren. She's in the sales manager's club thing we do.
There you go. They're tight. Oh, okay. Okay.
So they're going to release a cigar. It'll be online. It'll be in their store. Right.
Except for Illinois. They're not shipping it. Except for Illinois. Yeah, you can't sell it online.
Well, that hasn't gone into effect yet. In July. They don't even, it doesn't even have any teeth yet. There's nobody behind it.
No, but David Garofalo likes to plan ahead. He's very advanced in his marketing and sales. Yeah, you think so? Yeah, okay.
Except picking up our line. It took a little while for us to get that in there, but it's fine now though. We're rolling now, baby. We're rolling, everybody's happy.
We're rolling now, two guys. Go check out two guys. All right, CAO Flathead Speed Shop Habano. Speed Shop Habano.
It's shipping in February, so it's not that fast. So, well, it's next month. Yeah, but it's only January 5th, 6th, whatever it is. CEO Flathead line, which General Cigar Company says is the best-selling CAO line, is getting another sub-brand.
I believe that. Next month, the company will introduce the CAO Flathead Speed Shop Habano, which uses an Ecuadorian Habano. Oh, that works out well. Right.
Over a Mexican San Andres binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. 99 per cigar, each Vitola has an engine-themed name. 5x54 Vitola is the new one for the Flathead brand, which debuted in 2013. He's the number one selling brand and CEO.
Flathead has earned his reputation through bold character and unmistakable style, said Corey Beardsley, brand manager for CAO. Think he works for Justin or Justin works for him? Are they equal level? Everybody works for Justin.
I think Justin's bigger than you realized. Justin's... Well, that's why I'm asking, but... He probably works for Justin.
I think his title is brand manager too, isn't it? For Diesel? Yeah. Yeah, but I think that he handles more...
I mean, Justin may have blended the cigar. Yeah, Justin is the guy. One of the guys. Yeah.
Well, he's very busy. The only problem with being the guy and being big on that totem pole is when the Christmas party comes around, you got to start dodging people. You feed the growth with the biggest amount. You can't be around too much there.
That's probably why he takes vacation around that time. " Can't go to the meeting, can't go to the Christmas party. I'm going to stay low until this thing all blows over. I have this certain type of meeting over at Powstanie I got to go to now.
Yeah, no, he never comes to see us. That might be the only time when he's trying to get away from the Christmas party. Yeah, because nobody's going to look for him here. Right.
Nobody comes here. Make him co-host. Right. Oh, that would be nice.
Oh, with the squirt guns. Hi, I'm Justin. Oh, I would have so much fun with that one. Yeah.
All right, now it's time for a minigame of What's the Score? That's right through that. Man, you're quick. Well, you guys aren't going to do it anyway.
He's very angry about Preston today. Yeah, what's going on? I'm not angry. I like Preston.
Yeah. Me too. I know. We all know you do.
I sparkle when you say his name. Did you see that? Too bad we can't, like, zoom in so you really see that. That light over there that we forgot to unscrew the bulb.
Oh, yeah. Catches a sparkle when you say his name. Let's see. Go ahead, Palmer.
Say it. Just. I can't think of his name now. Justin.
I got stuck on Justin. Preston. Oh. He squinted.
He tried to squint, did you, did you, did you have it on then, do you have the camera on? Yeah, I had it on, I had it on. Nice, nice. 47 minutes, I'll zoom in.
Maybe put a little sparkle in there. All right, this cigar from November 6th, 2017, Brooks Whittington Cigars, it's a Redux, Roma Craft Tobac Wanderlust. Ooh. Robusto.
Okay. Who's first? 90. I am.
He probably knows this. I thought about that when I did it, but it was a long time ago. 91. All right, so Wanderlust Robusto from Nicaragua, Fabrica de Tobacco, Nicasuña, Brazilian Matafina, Indonesian Basuki, no filler, not available.
It's a 5x50 Robusto, they only, you don't care the price anyway, they only have international numbers. And they only did one cigar because it's a redux. 90. He knows the number.
It's a great cigar. 91. The Wanderlust Robusto delivers a bold layered flavor profile right from the start, led by bitter dark chocolate and creamy cashews with supporting notes of expresso, cinnamon, oak that evolve beautifully through the smoke. The developing cotton candy sweetness adds unique and memorable contrast without overwhelming the profile.
90? 1. Did you say 91? He gave a 1.
Did you hear that? No, 91. I said 90, and he said 1. 91.
He meant 91, Mike. He meant 1. Okay, next time, say 91. Just to keep him happy.
I can't believe he's at 1. Yeah, I know. Construction is excellent across the board with a near razor-sharp burn, dense smoke production, and a draw that offers just the right amount of resistance. Even as the strength builds toward full in the final third, the cigar remains balanced and controlled throughout the entire smoking time.
Ninety. Ninety-one. While the flavor progression is engaging, the cotton candy sweetness peaks around midpoint and gradually fades in the final third, leaving the profile slightly less distinctive as the aggressive tongue spice and saltiness briefly take over before tapering off. I was impressed with the Wunderlust Robusto when I first reviewed it, and I am not impressed with it now.
Oh, I am impressed. Sorry. I am impressed with it now. Ooh, that's a big difference.
Yeah. Yeah. It's a big difference. Right.
Uh, albeit for total different reasons. When I smoked it in 2016 version, the profile was full of a new, rich, distinct flavor, but was not overly complex. This time around, uh, that has shifted and the blend was complex, has complexity to spare. While the meatiness that I noticed in my first review was still present, there were a multitude of flavors that had overshone it, including bitter dark chocolate, salty cashews, and cotton candy sweetness that hit its high point just after the halfway mark, while the overall strength of the Wanderlust Robusto has increased a bit.
The balance in the blend that impressed me the first time around was unaffected, leaving me no choice but to once again recommend a cigar to anyone who can find them. 90. He knows the number. 91.
It's a 92. Oh, I win! There you go. All right, now wait.
The original score is different than this score. What's the original? I'm not telling you. We're playing again.
Same things, but now- I thought you said a mini-game. It is a mini-game. You're not getting descriptions. You're just going to guess the score.
90. 91. 93! Yes, I win again!
It is the year of boots. Yes. It's the year of boots. Year of boots.
He's won two days in a row. Two days in a row. He's on his way. All right, I will not be here tomorrow.
Are you going to announce the guest host? I do. Yes. All right.
Our guest host tomorrow will be Law Ream. Oh, is he in town? Of Camacho Cigars. Nice.
Yes. I don't know. " Oh, well. Yes.
I guess he's still here. He has a good time, man. He's a great co-host. Yeah, yeah, he does good.
It'll be good to mix 'em in. Perfect. And he says he's got a surprise for me. You told him there's gonna be two of us here, right?
No. Wow. See, Palmer, this is it. This is it.
We're out. But if Preston was here, I'd tell him that there'd be two of us. Right, of course. Wow, of course he wouldn't.
Of course he wouldn't. Yeah. All right, anybody got anything else? That's it.
