ACHP Episode 469 Now You Can Take Selfies In Space

ACHP Episode 469 Now You Can Take Selfies In Space

Episode Summary

Episode 469 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast finds Mike Palmer, Phil and Mikey running through a long block of off-beat news before turning to the week's cigar headlines. The show opens with the debut of the new CH Pod branded hats (only 30 made), shout-outs to the first buyers, and a run through YouTube comments — including listener ribbing over the previous episode's zero-gravity and moon-landing tangents.

In the news segment the crew covers NASA finally clearing astronauts to carry personal smartphones into space (and the coming era of "moon selfies"), Colorado's move to fully decriminalize prostitution and how that compares to Nevada and Maine, the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics running out of condoms in the athletes' village, Michael Jordan's viral Daytona 500 moment and NASCAR lawsuit, Bert Kreischer's beach-conch prank video, and Florida's new "halo law" requiring bystanders to stay 25 feet back from working first responders.

Cigar news leads with the biggest story of the weekend: a large curing barn fire at a Plasencia family farm in Estelí, Nicaragua, near Finca El Tuco. The guys speculate on how curing-barn fires start, compare it to the AJ Fernandez factory fire, and note how often the industry sees a fire like this. They also cover Half Wheel's review of the Bostania War Bear 2025 (88 points, praised for balance and construction with a funky patch in the final third), Pro Cigar moving its 2026 auction to online bidding for the first time, and a pricing correction on a Tabacalera de García humidor lot.

The episode closes with "What's the Score," where the crew guesses Half Wheel scores on two reviews: the Woody by Oscar — a 21-inch, 80-ring-gauge novelty cigar from Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Co. that took six hours to smoke and landed at 76 — and J.C. Newman's limited edition The American All-Star, a $100 all-USA-tobacco Toro Extra hurt by a badly tight draw, scoring 81.

Welcome to a Cigar Hustler podcast episode 469. I'm Mike Palmer, your host with me today is Phil. I'm glad the FCC has cleared Bad Bunny McGuffey. Wow.

And an engineering as my, the, he's an engineer. I always have messed that up. And then as my co-host, Mikey, I can't make a G, I can't make a beanie, but did you hear about my bad-ass red hat, Stephanie Kevich? Welcome to the show, gentlemen.

Welcome. Thank you for having me. It's half your show. All right, in today's show, can you hear me now from space?

Colorado is quickly becoming the love me now state. There's one Olympic sport they wish we weren't talking about. Florida Institute, a new Halo Law, and then in cigars, we have the biggest story everybody's talking about, and then there's a new auction at Pro Sabor that Fred left for this morning. Oh, really?

But now you can do it online. Not enough people there apparently were available. Oh. And Plasencia has a cigar now called In The Fire.

And finally... Top of the mountain, bottom of the mountain, around the lava, In The Fire. This one is Fire Cured. All right.

Okay. And then we have a What's the Score Novelty Cigar Edition. But first, Mikey has a brand new item from the CH Pod Swag Humidor. Yes.

Mikey, what do you got? Before I get into that, if you are enjoying the entertainment we provide and the education, please like and subscribe wherever you're viewing or watching our show. And yes. I like the new big words you're using.

Yes, I do. I try and get better every day. Education. The education and entertainment.

Well, that's kind of, like either of those or us. That's really what we provide. Oh, it is, yeah, exactly. We provide, we have entertainment, witty banter, sometimes not so witty banter as well.

Our banter is par, is way over par. Yeah. Oh, much better than the others. Yeah.

And then we provide a lot of education, a lot of inside baseball kind of stuff that's going on in the industry. What we have you for. That's what makes us so special. So, if you enjoy all that, make sure you like and subscribe wherever you're viewing or watching And so that you can stay up on all of our entertainment and education.

Do it. Uh, I have officially made, how do these look? Oh, it looks great. I even like the picture you put up on social media where they were sort of floating.

Yeah, I had that, that was that little AI. Uh, I'm going to give some quick shout outs here. Oh. I'm going to give some, we only made 30 of these and here, these are two of them that are spoken for, so 28 are available, right?

Yes. And I'm going to shout out. Do it. To, let me see here.

- Do it now. - Eric Tybaser. - Oh, hello, Eric. - I'm sorry for screwing up anybody's last names.

Julian Gordon, Richard Beard, John Yogerlite, Romatron, Travis T. Money, David Morris, Christopher Weiss, Matthew Brugger, Ben Wilhelmi, and Joe Olizinski for getting ahead of the curve and purchasing your hats. - Oh, wow. - Very impressive to all of you guys.

Thank you so much for your support. Just to clear that up, it was not a pre-sale. No, no, no. I didn't want somebody to think they missed out on something.

No, no, I put it up on the site, and boom, they jumped right on it. com, where if you buy one, you get the second one 40% off, and you spend $100 or more, you get free shipping. But without further ado, Mr. Phil, here's your hat.

Oh, God, I can't see. Good job. Nice catch. And for you, there's your hat.

Oh, so yes. Um, and can I get into the YouTube comments later or go ahead if you want to do that now? Because I think there's one of them. I have to explain.

Okay. Yeah. Well, we don their hats. Well, we put our new hats is on Palmer's yours on the last one.

Yeah, but I think I can go in. All right. Uh, at YT video rank talks about how he loves our show. I don't know if he's legit or not.

Uh, if you are, thank you Thank you very much. Oh, I think I can go. Nope. It's going to give me a headache.

" Yeah? Yeah. Is that what he's referencing? The no gravity.

He's on the no gravity show, right? Oh, gotcha. How the hell did he find a no gravity thing? Gotcha.

Well, that was sent in by listeners, actually, by several, so I was, people were throwing that at me. He's like, "Fine! Fine! " How does he look?

How does he look with the hat on there? I had him the whole time trying it on. But how does it look right now? Crooked.

Crooked? It's alright if it looks a little crooked, but it's viewable? No, it's good. Okay.

" Yeah, I mean, that's gonna happen, you know, he was a little ill on that show, so... On the last show, yeah. He doesn't like to be viewed when he's not feeling well. Right.

" My wife got me a big red jersey onesie for Valentine's Day is what I'm referring to. Oh, he gave the bing bong. Yes, he gave it a bing bong. Also, we had the grassy knoll, 1963, say Placencia just had one allegedly as well, and referencing the fire, we're going to get into that today.

And I covered Stephen Wells the week prior with the moon landing hoax. So, he wanted you to know that, you know, we landed on the moon. Oh, he was there. He says we did.

Stephen Wells was there. You know what, I'm going to elaborate since you missed it. Thanks for the show for clearing up that moon landing hoax. I would suggest that Boots, the astrophysicist, takes the show on the road, do a broadcast from MIT, and clear up some more myths like Einstein's E equals MC squared.

Really doesn't that sound more like Run DMC, No Tell Motel, Equals MC Squared, your show could straighten out a whole generation of scientists. Oh, and lyricalists, I guess. Yeah, and lyricalists. We just did a recording of the Patreon, where we covered a couple things, we went back into one of the topics that we discussed on the previous Patreon, and we sort of...

No, you guys talked about it on the show with Willie. I wasn't here that day. No, no, I'm talking about the first thing, but thanks for correcting me. Sorry.

And then we also took a little bit more of a deep dive into the Jonathan Drew, Jonathan Sanz, whatever his name happens to be now. com, a Cigar Hustlers podcast. And now, Palmer? Now, the news!

Uh-oh. So, for the first time in history, NASA is allowing the astronauts to take their cell phones into space. You can make a call. Well, you know, that's what I was wondering about.

I guess you're closer to the satellites. Why wouldn't it work? They probably get better reception. You know, the sad part is that I can't make a call in Costco.

Right. My wife can't make a call inside the school she's at. But if I'm in space, I can call? In space, right.

Which provider is the best? T-Mobile? Is it Verizon? Is it AT&T?

Oh, yeah, they were going to say what they have. Starlink. Starlink? Yeah.

Oh, that's probably the one. No, that shit don't work. I told you, I had that, oh, use our satellite, and that was... It's gotta be Wi-Fi, even so you can make Wi-Fi calls.

You think it's Wi-Fi? You think it's Wi-Fi? You think it's Wi-Fi call? FaceTime in?

Hey, honey. Hey, I'm just doing the dishes. Where are you? I'm in space.

I'm in space. You know, you didn't take out the trash before you left. Yeah. Thanks so much.

Oh, yeah. Here comes the meteorite. Look out the window. It's breaking up.

The service is horrible out here. " Right, it was like the time would... Like six months of peace and quiet. My dad used to say when he started going to China originally, a long time ago, the best part of it was, nobody could call him for two weeks.

Yeah. I mean, nothing. " I'm like, "Oh, thanks. " So the reason they've never...

Oh, it's a monitor phone. Oh, androids are available too, by the way. The reason they've never done it before, because there's extensive testing to make sure that it doesn't affect anything, like radiation, they've got to check and all sorts of stuff. And by the time they have cleared the phone, there's new phones.

It takes too long. " You're fine. You're fine, you're fine. Everything's fine.

It's like the airplanes, you know, at first you can't have it on during the plane. " Well, they still say hey. They still say hey, but there's like a half of a 1% chance that it affects the stuff in the cockpit. They're not going around saying, "Is your phone off?

" Right. Unless you're talking on it, as they're trying to take off. I will say this though, airplane mode will save the battery when you're traveling. Right, I always put airplane mode just for that fact, because your phone's looking for a signal the entire time, if not, and it drains the battery down.

Yeah. " Ooh. So I guess they're gonna be able to post on social media. Selfie.

Yeah, selfie, look. It'll be good for us. We know we want to promote the space program, so we have to, uh, right. That's basically what it is.

We need, we need more people want to be astronauts. We have to up our social media presence. Right. So Phil, are you going to go to space anytime soon?

No, it's fake. Remember he says it's fake. Yeah. It's not even real.

No, no, going to space is real, but I don't think they went to the moon. I think they went to the moon. Yeah. Yeah.

Did you, did, so you, I guess I wasn't here on, well, I was here, but I wasn't here. Anyways, did you guys test this theory? That's the Do you know what I heard you were saying something about with Stephen Wells? Test what theory?

Test what theory? Did you guys talk about the moon again on the last episode? No, no, no, just Stephen Wells commented on the episode where we talked about the moon. And you obviously didn't watch the show.

He doesn't watch the show when he's not on. No, I watch the show all the time. The clips, he watches the clips. I got news for you.

If I'm Phil, I definitely want to watch the show that I'm not on. Oh, yeah. To see exactly what I said. Because I'm on.

Yeah. You're never not on the show. Yeah. I know.

And that's why I don't watch the show because I already know you do. It's really good. Apparently, the last thing that was approved that they could use on the space that was not part of the space program were GoPros from 2010. GoPros?

Wow. Yeah, the GoPros were from early 2010 that were approved previously. Like, hey guys, 16 years later. Right.

I want to go move on here. What if this gets out of hand? What if the cell phone thing gets out of hand with the astronauts? Like they're not paying attention to their jobs because they're playing.

Yeah, what if you got the one jokes here? You guys are looking at TikTok, some guys playing Bejeweled, and then somebody else. Hold on, hold on, I'm about to level up. Hold on, can somebody share me some jewels?

Yeah, what if you got like the one jokes here that's like. Yeah, he like sends like a picture from space. Isn't that like racist though? No, it's like.

Is it? Yeah. Oh, I don't know what that means. You better not have gone to you on that one.

Oh, I might have to edit that out. Oh, good. 11 minutes. Oh, great.

Yeah, make sure you. It's so much better when he's not on the show. Make sure you zoom in on his face because he's unintentionally racist. He's ignorantly racist.

Yeah, I didn't know what that meant. That should be a shirt for him, Phil. Ignorantly racist. He doesn't even realize how racist.

We were in grade school when you did that, like you get punched. Yeah. Not anymore. Oh, it's something else now?

You're not allowed to do it. Yeah. We lost that symbol. We lose shapes.

We lose all kinds of things. We lose all kinds of things. Speaking of which, Michael Jordan was pinching some little kid's butt or whatever at the Daytona 500. It looked like he was part of his group or whatever.

I've seen this video. And there's a huge uproar about it. Now he's a pedophile. I feel like it's a fake video.

I don't know, man. He might even do it. He was playing with the kid. Yeah, it looked like he was just playing around.

It's like, I got your nose, except I'm pinching your butt. Well, the kid is, I think that's the kid of the racer. Yeah, so he knows. Yeah, yeah.

Of the car he owns. Yeah. I didn't even know he owned the car. I mean, but it was a full grab.

No, it was a two finger. Was it? A two finger. Well, he's got big fingers.

I was going to say, he's got big fingers. Might have been a whole butt. I mean, was it the best approach? No.

But like, was it harmless? I think it's harmless. I think it was harmless, yeah. I don't think he was, you know, sexually grasping at the kids' eyes.

We live in this world that, you know... I don't think Michael Jordan... Like, everything is under this scope, man. It's just like...

Oh, you can't do anything. I think like he had, you know, his thing was, it wasn't kids. It was like prostitutes and strippers, right? Wasn't that his thing back in the day?

Gambling. No, that was magic. I don't know. That was magic.

Oh, it was magic. Magic is the one who has the AIDS from all the sex, right? That's the one. You think that the NBA athletes have to pay for it?

Oh, I'm sure. They don't pay for it. Well, I mean, maybe that was his thing. Maybe he liked to pay for it.

Maybe they paid for weird stuff. Who knows? Yeah, maybe there's like a monkey. there's like a monkey in there and everything yeah like you guys have just gone down this weird rabbit hole i don't here i am defending michael jordan you guys are like well you know like no no all of a sudden magic comes i was like i don't know how i got these monkey pox but you know there was monkeys in the room with this one when i when i do stuff at adrian school like when i was santa claus and stuff even then i'm like careful when you know the kids want hugs and stuff right like No, no.

Santa has a no-hug policy. Right. Santa has COVID. Strict high-five.

Right. We're high-five, fist-bumping, something. Right, yeah. New Santa rules.

Keep your distance. Come on, Santa. Give me a hug. No, no, no.

There's nobody else here. Don't hug me in pictures. I don't want to get confused. Yeah.

Crazy. It is. It's so weird out there. Yeah.

You know, there's always a camera watching. Yeah, there's always a camera. Say you're at a store or something. Some lady goes, "Hey, can Can you take my son in the bathroom?

We need help in the bathroom. You go, oh, no, no, I would never do that. No, I wouldn't either. Even without a camera.

I would never put myself in a position. Well, no, I mean, there's no camera other than maybe a security camera shot. But yeah, but I would never. No, I'm not going in anywhere.

No. Can you check on my son? Nope. Matter of fact, I don't have to go anymore.

I'll go find a different bathroom. Okay. Somebody asked you to check on... It has happened before.

It has happened to you? Yeah. Oh, wow. No, I'm not checking on your child.

Yeah, no. Or you just open the door and yell in. I got news for you. Like, I don't care if my daughter's in the bathroom and, like, I'm concerned and it's just me, I'm warning people that I'm walking in.

Oh, I would do that too. And I'm going in. Sure. Like, I'm not asking some random stranger.

Right. To check on my kid. Right. But, you know, the other side of that is like, you always have to put yourself, you always have to try to put yourself in a position where you can never be compromised and it's still going to happen.

Sure. So, no, it doesn't make sense at all. Right. So, apparently, the guy who's now in charge of the phone program flew on SpaceX, and I guess they're allowed to have phones on SpaceX.

Cutting edge. They're cutting edge. Right. Right.

So, they can do it, but why can't we do it, too? Yeah, why can't we do it? Why can't Michael Jordan do it? Right.

Michael Jordan, yeah. So, it's expected to produce the first smartphone images from lunar orbit. The last humans to see the moon up close did so before the first mobile phone was even invented. There you go.

Coming soon, moon selfies. Moon selfies. Oh, just what you didn't say is, I know that you said they had the video of Michael Jordan, but his team won. Yeah, they won the whole game.

Yeah, he won. Yeah, it's kind of crazy. That is crazy? Well, he just had the big lawsuit with NASCAR.

Did he? How they were taking too much money from all the teams and stuff. Oh, I heard about this. Yeah, and then he wins.

wins he won the lawsuit and then he wins the 500 was that part of the lawsuit i must win the 500 oh i i know but he didn't win like the whole thing right i don't know where we're at in nascar is this the beginning this is the beginning so they won the 500 so the first race yeah that's where burt kreischer was right right yeah did he do gentlemen start your engines he was you know i thought he was supposed to be the grand marshal but i seen some the other day on facebook that There was somebody else, but I thought it was always Burt Kreischer. I don't know what to believe on Facebook anymore, man, to be honest. That he was always the guy? I thought he was the Start the Engines guy, like, 'cause Kevin James did it, I think, the year before.

Yeah, that one you hear all the time. Yeah, I think, you know, and he was practicing it, like, he was doing the videos of him, like, you know, start your engines, and he was doing a big party. He did a thing on Publix Pub Subs on Facebook the other day, too. Yeah, I know he also did like a comedy thing at Dr.

Phillips when he was here as well. 1 radio on Friday too at some event they were having out there. Yeah, that's the Monsters, right? Yeah, the Monsters.

Yeah, from what I understand from Ginger, he follows Bert pretty heavily. He loves the Monsters. Right. Yeah, he will do anything for those guys, from what I understand.

Interesting. I will have a video for you in a second, because I did see a Bert Kreischer video of that. Did you? Is he pinching somebody's butt?

Is it the one where he takes his shirt off? No. No? Nope.

None of that. All right. Colorado is going to legalize prostitution. Okay.

Become the third state in the country to legalize prostitution. Do you have the other two? I think Nevada's one of them. Nevada's one of them, but they're trying to get away from it.

Are they? Maine is the other one. Maine? Maine?

Yes. So weird, huh? They're just tucked up in the right corner. Why don't you let us guess that?

Oh. I would have never, never. If you wanted 48, you would have never got it right. Yeah.

But what is legal is to sell, not to buy. Okay. What? It's not illegal to buy.

Oh. In Maine, you can sell sex, you just can't buy the sex. So if you purchase it, you can get in trouble. Right.

It's to protect the sex worker from something. That doesn't make much sense. No, it doesn't, right? Yeah, how do you sell it?

It's like saying you can sell drugs, you can't buy drugs. I am in possession of the illegal substance. S. to fully decriminalize prostitution if it became a law.

So like in Nevada, there's certain conditions. It has to be at a brothel and all sorts of different things. You can't just be a person on the street. But in Colorado, you can smoke dope and you can buy sex.

It doesn't matter wherever? Nope. I need more dope. It is decriminalizing commercial sexual activity among consenting adults, both for people who buy sex and for who would sell sex.

S. as the only other state with any form of legal prostitution is Maine and Nevada, and we've already talked about that. Do you have a problem with this? No, I mean, I'm not planning on buying any, but I mean, it's a moral issue more than anything else.

No, I mean, if she says she wants to, he says he wants to pay for it. Why do I care? Right. What about you, Phil?

No, I mean, that's what they want to do. I mean, that's their job, I guess. That's their job. That's their job.

Yeah, I mean, I guess there's an ask for every seat, right? Yeah. Yeah. It is mostly the oldest business in history.

I think the main thing's weird, though. Like, what do you do, just put the money on the ground and like, oh, they found the money. Well, they don't want to punish, in the transaction, they don't want to punish the worker. I want to punish the worker.

Jack's calling me. Hey, hey, you're on the podcast. What's up, buddy? I'm on a podcast?

Yeah, we're podcasting right now. Is Michael Jordan editing? Come on, I called to heckle you. No, that is Michael Jordan.

I can't do that on the podcast. All right, so then I'll call you back. If you don't have any podcast, I'm here with Hector. You don't have any podcast questions for the, uh, for heckle and Jekyll?

No, I don't. Other than why'd you quit? You quit? I quit what?

Heckle & Jekyll Show. It went off the air. Because we were going to get in trouble. I believe you and Palmer were guests on that show, right?

We were? Oh, yeah, we were. That's the episode they got in trouble? That was the one that shut it down.

That was the best show you ever did. The greatest show. The greatest. Absolutely.

All right, I'll call you back when I'm done. All right, bye. All right, bye. Jack Taranio.

Jack Taranio. You said Jacks. I thought it was your son. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Yeah, I thought it was his son. He had like a really deep voice. I was like, well, that's not his son. Yeah, I was going to ask him.

His son is sick or something? I was going to say, Michael Jordan's here, Dad. I don't know what to do. Yeah.

He's pinching my butt. Oh. He says he's a race car driver. I don't understand.

Oh, God. Wow. All right, Olympic athletes are promised a fresh stock of condoms after Valentine's Day because they've run out. Wow.

Okay. On Valentine's Day, at the Milan Cortia Olympics, a renewed supply of free condoms for adult villagers promised by organizers. Well, how do you find this funny? Because they ran out of condoms.

These people are having so much sex, they ran out of condoms. Does that surprise you? Do you think they're using it for that, or they're making balloon animals? They're not making balloon animals.

Well, I did a little mad, so they supplied... It was like a thousand or something like that. Oh, okay. At the Summer Olympics, there was a hundred, hold on, going the wrong way.

That's the wrong way too. All right, they had plenty at the Summer Olympics, they don't run out. But here, there was 300,000 condoms provided for more than 10,000. 300,000?

For 10,500 athletes at the 2024 Paris Summer Games. Okay. And supposedly the reason they made those beds out of cardboard and everything, they were trying to make it less fun. Right, correct.

But they, so it might have worked because it didn't run out. It didn't run out. But at the Winter Games, they gave away 10,000 condoms for 2,800 athletes. So basically, everybody got three.

That's not enough. No, plus you could be there for 17 days. The whole event takes 17 days. Dude, you're talking about athletes from all over the world.

Right. They're in peak performance. Right, this is the best I'm ever going to look. Right.

And you're going to stick them all in an area. Wait a second. Hold on a second. You know, Maine is mad about not being or saying like you can't buy stuff, but we're just going to provide condoms over here to the Olympics.

Yeah, no money exchanges, Anne. Yeah, we're talking about consensual sex. 20 something basically year old athletes. This is so weird.

We make fun of the villages all the time. This is the villages, just younger. For 17 days. Right.

Well, better than having some drug or not drug, some disease. These are all young athletes. Right? They're in their early adulthood ages.

Right. You're in, their physiques are probably at their peak. That's what I mean. If I'm going to be seen naked, this is the time I want to be seen naked.

And not only that, not only that, but they're, you know, they're, they're winning medals, right? So like, that constitutes a good, just, you know, blowout, huh? You can have like a bingo card, you know, I need two Scandinavians and a Spanish. Hey, where's that one with the broken leg that skis?

You don't think that a gold athlete in peak physique is going to attract people that they're going to be like, oh, you know, I want that? Maybe, I don't know. Maybe? What are you talking about?

It could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Yeah, these guys, like, of course. You know, I'm Jamaican bobsled, I'm never going to see a blonde from Scandinavia ever again. Right.

Oh, so this is like kind of like a buffet. Exactly. Exactly. I think to some degree.

Maybe not with everybody, but yeah, dude, there's going to be a lot of activity. There's going to be a lot of activity. You think Jake Paul's girlfriend participated? Nah, just with Jake Paul.

The guy cried when she won. He's there. He's pretty much locked up. But he can't stay in the village.

He can't? You think she's staying in the village? She flew over on his private plane. Well, they have to stay in the village.

You're required to stay in the village? Yeah, you're required. Are you sure? No, I know, because this was a big thing during COVID, remember?

That was six years ago. Well, that was probably because it's COVID. They don't want you going out and catching COVID at the Holiday Inn Express in Latvania. Well, let's look it up, let's look it up.

Yeah, I'm going to. I'm pretty sure it's required, because they don't want them going out and getting, like, PEDs or any of that type of stuff. No, because when they had the cardboard beds, a lot of them opted to stay other places. Is it a real cardboard bed?

Yeah, the beds were made out of cardboard. That's hilarious. So they were terribly uncomfortable and would not hold up for sex. How are they in peak performance if they're sleeping on a cardboard bed?

Well, that was some of their complaints. Plus, no air conditioning either. Dear God. Olympians are not required to stay in the Olympic Village.

Oh, I'm glad we cleared that up. She slept in Jake Paul's hotel he bought while he was there. Dude. I don't know.

Yeah, the guy cried two or three times. She ain't banging anybody else. Maybe he was crying because he found out. " Oh, it was the skater that did the black flip?

Oh, no! And I got this for you. We ran out of condoms. It wasn't just once.

I used my three, but we had four times. So, we just kept going. So, that suit they wear is skin tight and it's hard to breathe. So, did you see at the end where she unzipped hers?

No. I mean, they all unzip them because they can't breathe, so, but she's quite chesty. And then the girl she raced that beat her, or that she beat, zipped hers back up. Oh, God.

The poor thing is, yeah, she's like, oh, well. Ah. Right. Right.

Wow. So, yeah, no, I mean, it makes sense. Sure. Look, 10,000 is not enough.

Yeah, that's the funny part. They so underestimated what they were going to need. Like, how do you not look at the previous data of 300,000? Right.

Well, at the Olympics, it's hotter, you know, in the summertime. Everybody's wearing less clothes, and maybe they won't have sex so much. Okay, well, so cut it by half. That's still 150,000.

Right, right. That's still 15 times more than what they provided. Right. We're not even remotely close.

Is this a one-size-fits-all kind of deal? I would imagine. They don't come in sizes, I don't think, when you're getting free ones. Yeah, you think they come in sizes?

I don't know. I mean, Jamaica had a bobsled team, so... They might have brought the room. You think that...

You think that... Yeah, man, we bring our own. Do you think that the Magnums are actually bigger than the other? I don't know.

Yeah, you've seen where the guy stretches that thing over his head, so I mean, you know. I have kids with three different women, Mikey, I don't use condoms. You don't know what condoms are. If you were an Olympian, you'd be like, "What is this?

What is this? Why are we getting these balloons? " Thank God you weren't an Olympian. Your seed would be spread across the entire globe.

It could, you listen, I don't know, I have four, well I'm about to have four kids that I know of, the military is a different world too. That I know of. Who knows? This guy.

He's got fill babies that he doesn't know about. Right. Well, it's not like he ever got on a boat, so they all have to be in Jacksonville. Yeah, that's true.

Jacksonville. Virginia. He was in Virginia. Virginia, Texas.

And they say Virginia's for lovers, right? Oh, there you go. Oh, yeah, they do so. All right.

I thought it was Ohio's for lovers. Is it Virginia? It's Virginia. Oh.

Ohio is for lovers? Yeah, I don't know. Nobody likes Ohio. Oh, God.

Sorry to all our Ohio listeners. The value you provide to this show is remarkable. People know when I'm on the show. Yeah.

Well. Bing bong. All right, Florida just passed the halo law, went into effect yesterday. Okay, what is a halo law?

Okay, now you have to stay 25 feet away from any working first responder. Ah, okay, that's fine. That makes sense. Right, because people are, okay, so you get one move back, and then after that, it's a second degree misdemeanor.

Look, we live in a world where everybody's got to pull their camera out. " Worldstar. That's part of the thing that happens if you get caught. You get 60 days in jail, a $500 fine, plus court cost, and evidence seizure of your phone or camera is taken.

Yeah, look. Oh man, then a lot more charges come when they see what photos you got. photos you got look i'm trying to save a person's life the last thing i need is someone's camera in my face turn around and wave at me you're doing that wrong or whatever i mean you know dude the like this the the comments that you hear from people you're just like everybody knows better i haven't heard of this being an effect or anything but just started yesterday yeah this sounds like this is going to get some controversy of course it will yeah you know yeah i was 26 feet Hey, sir, I'm sorry, how do you know it wasn't 25? No, not only that, but they'll argue that you're protecting, you know, bad people doing bad things, you know, okay, look, it'll be the right to free speech people.

Well, the reality is that, right, no one is perfect, right? You're always going to have some bad apples in something. However, the majority of people probably have the right intentions, good intentions to try and protect, serve, and save lives. And we have, as a society, need to protect those people.

Because, my God, man, you know, like, you see some of this stuff, and I'm just like, oh, dude, back off, man. Give this guy some space. He's trying to do his job, right? Whether it's a police officer or a paramedic or whatever.

Firefighters. Those are people, it's paramedics, firefighters, police. There was one more. I don't remember what the other one was.

Yeah. What do we think it is? Probably EMT or something. Well, EMT, same as a paramedic.

I don't remember, it wasn't important, it wasn't important, what else did we have? It was something unusual, so it did, oh, it was, um, you know, parole officer. Parole officer? Seems odd, but I guess if he's trying to grab somebody who's broken parole?

Yeah, they, uh, they'll make house visits. Yeah, if he's checking in on something, you know? Yeah, it's, you know, those are hard jobs, right, because, like, when your adrenaline starts pumping, you go into instinct mode. So, like, that's how they train you, they train you into an instinct mode.

So the people around you really don't matter if they get in your way, it's I couldn't really turn out pretty bad, you know, I mean, yeah, as we've seen. That's true. I mean, but like, training an officer to handle themselves in intense situations is what we need to always focus on. Like I saw a video where a cop was like, in a room, and very calm, guy pulls a knife on him lunges at him, you know, he puts two in him.

And he's like, Are you okay? You know, I need EMT, I need, like the whole scenario. Right. He never elevated at all.

He put that down, put that down, started coming towards him, bing, bing, right? Yeah. That's how that's supposed to be handled, right? Right.

Like, you train officers to handle themselves in high intensity situations. Was that a, uh, uh, was that a virtual reality or was that a... No, it was real. So, like, seven rounds?

What? Like, yeah, like rubber bullets? No. No, he shot the guy.

He shot the guy. It was a real call. Probably the, uh, body cam thing. Yeah, it was the body cam.

He had the body cam, the guy was, you could see that he was mentally unstable, right? Oh, okay. So. Yeah, it's tough, man, and you know, and somebody that gets in the way with, let's say, a camera phone or whatever, that could be, you know, the difference between life or death for the person that they're trying to help.

Yeah. You know, so people's loved ones could die. Or the officer, right? Yeah.

Or the paramedic. Like, we want everybody to get home safe. Right. You know?

When my wife got that concussion, the kid threw her to the ground. I mean, when I was on the ground, there was video footage the kids had taken. Right. I mean, it was all over social media.

Isn't that crazy? Yeah. Like, oh, fight. Right, fight, pull out your camera.

Right. Yeah, and then the other thing is, like, so let's, you know, for that, for an example, right? Like, she could get in trouble if something happened in the video that she didn't really do, but somebody misconstrues it. They have particular training of the way they're allowed to handle things, too.

Yeah. Right. Yeah, 'cause of video. Like, there were guardians there when that happened, but guardians aren't allowed to touch the kids, I don't know why I have the guardian at that point, but that was part of the thing.

Right. So, I mean, when the kid grabbed her and threw her down, the guardian was just... They can't do that, yeah. They can't do anything.

Okay. Unless the gun's involved, the guardians can't do anything. Wow. I think that's how it works.

Yeah, it's probably some type of insurance purpose. I know they can't do anything, but I think the gun thing might, I'm not sure how that... Because how would they get it on the campus to start with, but still. Right.

Yeah, it's a legality of insurance. Right. Sounds like you don't know. Well, I don't want to say anything that's not true.

Right. So you better walk back everything you just said. No, I just did. I know.

Allegedly. When she first started in education, they were a little more lax. Right. Okay.

Speaking of kids, before you kind of transition into the next episode, or next thing, I got to tell you something that's really funny kind of happened to me. As you know, I coach like 75 different things. Right. You have your own league.

No. I mean, I probably could. Oh, here it comes, Palmer. I'm not.

Preston's out of a job. No, I'm, I'm, when would I do that? You know what? This was the scheme.

Mikey was going to create the podcast, get all the information from him, and then create his own league. Yeah, of course. And then sort of bleed him out. I got news for you, man.

I see all the stuff that that guy goes through as a league owner, and I want nothing to do with it. I mean, what would you call your own league? What? What would you call your league?

I don't have, yeah. Cigar Hustler podcast. Yeah, it'd be called, yeah. Next week, Butch, you and I are doing sports shoes.

Oh, God. Dude, like, I'm closely, I'm, I'm not, I'm not. But I'm closely affiliated enough to where I feel like I want to do everything I can to represent the league, and like there are times when I get upset, I'm like, man, I wish I didn't, you know, because, and it's not even my league, but, so like, you know, I can only imagine what that, no, I'm not interested, not even remotely interested, but I will tell you this, a funny story. All right, go.

So we're coaching our basketball games, myself and Coach Scott, who I coach with. And somebody brings up a kid and says, hey, he's on your team. I said, perfect, whatever. And we go through the game, and you have your guys that are really good, and then you kind of work the other kids in because you don't want to overexpose them, right?

So I have my rotations. I rotate two, two, two, two, two as I'm kind of going through because now I have 11 on this team. And we go through the game. Game goes well.

We win the game. We review afterwards with the kids, and we're going to leave. And this new kid who was on the team, his grandmother is walking in or the parent or whatever, and says, where are you going? Your game is next.

Oh, he wasn't on your team. We have so many kids and so many teams that I didn't even know if this kid was on our team or not. He got extra playing time. Who brought him over and said this kid's on your team?

I don't know. Oh, just somebody. Somebody did, yeah. Yeah.

Got to check his birth certificate. Dad, Dad, I want to play. Okay, come on. I'll get you on the team.

Yeah, uh, well, Patreon, then podcast. Okay, can you send me the video of Teddy throwing the javelin, please? Yes. Thank you.

Love you, bye. Teddy's, Teddy's on track. We should just have her come in. She's on the show every week.

Yeah, she's, like, she's so upset, like, oh my God, you're podcasting again. Oh, well, um, it's, uh, 1230. Right. On a Monday.

Well, she's acting like she's upset. Yeah, she's really wanted to be on the show. " "Oh no! " Yeah, so like...

So, I'm sorry, but with you doing the podcast with him now, and I still have not said his name, so it's okay, you are part of his whatever he has. Well, even more than that, because we coach a girls team together. Oh, see, there you go. Yeah.

But I mean, there's just one more thing on a broader audience sees that you're the second coach. I think so. I mean, you might as well be the vice president of whatever the thing's called. I'm good.

I mean, Palmer, he's just trying to win the bet. Yeah, I'm good. I'm out. I'm not saying you should be.

I'm saying for all practical purposes, you are at this point. Oh, but like, you know, it's just like with you, if you, if you, if you represented something and I'm closely affiliated to you and you know, if I'm there or whatever, I'm, I'm a, I'm linked to you. linked to you right i want to i want to represent you in the best appropriate fashion that possible yeah that's why palmer always says he's the owner of cigar hustler right right but it was really funny with this kid so then he turned back around and played another game he wasn't tired i don't know i'm so tired i just played with these guys no but i gotta tell you i mean like we crushed the team so i'm sure that if that team didn't crush he's probably like i want to go back to the other team so next week is he gonna play on your team hey i'm here again i hope not because man dude It's challenging trying to rotate kids. Would you recognize him, or if somebody brings him in, he's got a different shirt on, all of a sudden he's just another little brunette kid?

I would recognize him. I mean, I know all of the kids' faces on my team, for the most part, but I don't know, I don't necessarily know everybody's names in some scenarios. " Juice Boss Kid. You know, it's harder to remember somebody's name than their face.

I read this the other day, because your mind, like, his name is Phil, for no apparent reason. But you recognize the face, the structure, and everything, so you associate that with them because nothing ever changes. But, I mean, your name could be Paul, you know, tomorrow, and it wouldn't make a difference. Right.

That's why your brain works at a different level than the people that can remember just names. Oh, interesting. I always remember people by something funny of them. Yeah, that's why he likes to wear masks.

Pinch his people's butts. That's Michael Jordan. Okay. All right, moving on.

We're into cigar news. You have a video? I do have a video. Oh, good.

You have a video. I sent it to you already. Oh, thank goodness. I love when you send videos.

It's my second favorite thing about the show is when you send videos. First favorite is when your wife calls every week and we have to edit that out on the mic. Again? Can we play this?

Yeah. There's no audio, or there's no music. You okay? Does it have sound?

Mine doesn't. No, it has no sound. Do I need the sound? So anyway, so Bert, he's in Florida, right?

Right. Yeah. And what he's doing is he says, you know, like, he found this conk, or he bought this conk, and he takes it, and he throws it in the ocean. I saw that part.

Right? And then he walks up to some random kids that are looking for shells, and he says, hey, I just saw a big one over there. And the kids run over there, and they go absolutely crazy, and he's like, see, it just created a memory for those kids for life. Those his kids?

No, no, those are some random kids. It shows the video, at the end of the video, they run up to some guy who's just laying down on the beach. I thought that was hilarious. It is funny.

What a great guy. He just made those kids dead. You know, I gotta shout out my guy who stopped in, you know, checked out the store. Right.

So. It's pretty cool. There's a lovely new ST DuPont ladder. Too bad Greg screwed that up.

How did Greg screw it up? He didn't, like, there's no further engagement. Oh, he gave his phone number. Yeah.

He wanted Andalusian Bulls. So Greg goes, here, give me a call. Yeah. And then I'll set you up for the Andalusian Bulls.

We'll have some soon. Yeah. So we set him up with the Andalusian Bulls in a podcast episode. He's not going to be set up with a podcast episode.

He's not going to be on the podcast episode. Yeah. Mr. I'm going to set up people for a podcast episode, which you're not permitted to do, by the way, sir.

Stop lining up guests for the show. So, I only did one. Yeah, that's one too many. Two.

That's two too many. Two now. Yeah. It doesn't work that way.

Well, we talked about the second one. We talked about the second one? Yeah, that was a while back. Was it?

" Like, that doesn't work. What if we're not available that date? No, that was the date that he gave me, and I was saying to you guys, It's like that an okay date. Oh, so you didn't say, "Hey, you need to come on, oh yeah, no problem, we'll get this date"?

I told them that I was going to check with you guys on the date, and I sent you guys a date, and then I got no response. Oh, okay. So then we don't have that locked in yet. Perfect.

That's a Friday, too. Ugh, he might be busy. All right, cigar news. No, races are pretty much done, so.

Oh. The biggest story in cigars for the weekend. Yeah, tell me. Halfway Review, the Bostania War Bear 2025.

Oh! Did you see this already? Maybe. I would assume you did, but no, you didn't say anything.

We have loyal fans that... Well, it normally gets posted, and I didn't see a thing. That provide intel. Well, I got it this morning.

Oh. I saw it yesterday. Other than some construction issues, you know, it seemed like you liked the cigar. Yeah, I got an 88.

Yeah. It's reasonable. It's a reasonable number. Sure.

It's a great cigar. I have the final thought, if you want me to read the final thought, I don't have the entire review. Bosania Warbear 2025 is definitely a three-act cigar, starting with a mild yet flavorful and approachable first third, adding body intensity in the second third, and then adding a bit more in the final third, though at the expense of some of the puffs, when some funky jumps into the profile and knocks it off track for a handful of puffs. You know what, he said like wontons or something?

Did he say wontons? He said something goofy. This is a cigar that gets a lot of essential, right, balance, some complexity, marked transition, fantastic construction to cap off the experience. If anything, I would have loved to see the cigar really blossom with its flavor and take control of my senses, something it might end up doing with a bit of time and something I hope it does.

You said egg roll tasting. Oh, egg roll. Who wrote it? Egg rolls.

Who do you think wrote it? Egg rolls. I didn't want to assume because... Who do you think wrote it?

" Who do you think wrote it? I want to hear who you think wrote it. You're not allowed to say what I just said. Who do you think wrote it?

Who do you think wrote it? Charlie. Oh, you racist bastard. You racist bastard.

It was Patrick. Oh. Yeah, I knew you'd be racist. Egg Rolls immediately thinks Charlie.

Yeah, wow. Wow, dude. Wow. I mean...

No, Patrick had Chinese that day. Oh. They should have to eat the same meal every time they review a cigar. Clean palate.

Have a clean palate and yeah, no... Strict rules. Strict rules. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, and water.

You can't have anything too sweet. You need something. All right, peanut butter sandwich. You know what I would say?

Here's the best way to review a cigar, I would tell you, is I would eat a little bit of like 100% cocoa, something that was like bitter, and then clear my mouth out with that, because then at that point I would get every sweet accent from a cigar, I would get every hint of bitterness, like, or every hint of like saltiness. Of all of those things. All of those things would be accented. Tremendously.

You wouldn't get anything bitter. Uh, you would still get bitter stuff. That's what I would do. Yeah, so like a dark chocolate bar.

Like, but I'm talking about like 100% cocoa or 90% cocoa or something. Oh, like baking chocolate. Baking chocolate. Ugh.

Well, that's, I eat it all the time. It's good for you. Yeah. Read that in a book?

I read it in a book. Beetroot powder is good for you. Take beetroot powder every day. Read that in the book, too?

Yeah, read that in the book. What you thought on coconut water? I think coconut water can be good for you. He hasn't been in that chapter yet.

It's good to help you hydrate. I'm addicted to coconut water now. Are you? There's sometimes when I'm thirsty, like, I've got to have coconut water.

That crack? No, no, no crack. Not anymore? I can't afford that.

I work here. Crack is really affordable, from what I understand. I don't think it would be. Have you seen the people that buy crack?

I mean, it has to be affordable. What does that mean? They say, wake up, wake up. Oh my God, three in a row for you.

The crackhead doesn't wake up and go, not going to have crack today. They find a way to get it. That's right. Right.

Don't let a crackhead. Be like the crackhead. Don't let a crackhead outwork you. It's probably a lot of Maine.

A lot of what? He loves, he's really hooked on the prostitution thing. Oh, Maine. He's moving to Maine.

Yeah. Why are you moving to Maine? You can only sell it, you can't buy it. So he can sell his sex.

Oh, so he can sell his ass. Yeah. Oh, I gotcha. You can't sell something and no one can buy it.

You can still buy it, you just can't get caught. It could get caught, which makes no sense at all. You wouldn't get in trouble if you got caught selling your body. Could you just sell it and then report everybody?

No, then you'd ruin your clients. Oh, I guess you would. All right, Plasencia suffered a barn fire in Nicaragua. Yes.

A large, large, I mean, we're talking large, big, big curing barn. That belongs to Plasencia caught on fire on Friday. The fire was at one of the family farms in Esteli, Nicaragua. Nicaragua.

Allegedly near Finca El Tuco. Where's that? Okay. You've been there.

I don't know where that is. Yes, I've been there. I'm not... What am I?

It's... You've been there more than once. Yeah. I don't go to a lot of farms.

Think you think Skip could see this from his farm? We'll find out later when he texts us after he hears this tomorrow. Skip doesn't have a farm. No, if he could see this...

Oh, sorry, from his factory. I know he doesn't have a farm. Okay. Placencia?

No, I can't see it from his factory. Well, Placencia owns everything, so. That's true. Placencia has extensive growing operations, Hunters and Garaga, but the fire looked huge, and they're not saying why yet.

Okay, I mean, well, this was, this is all speculative. Sure, sure, sure. But this is pretty easy to kind of put together. I mean, realistically, if it happens in a barn, you dry out the tobacco.

Sure. So, sometimes you build fires inside of the barns. Oh, do they? Is that how they dry?

Yeah, in the balones. Yeah, so something must have caught, the fire may got too big, and uh oh, we made a fire too big. Yeah, so do you think that this is as big as the AJ fire that had happened? Uh, well, AJ was a factory, right?

Correct. So yeah, I think AJ's would have been worse. A hundred percent. Right.

AJ's factory fire was way worse than what just had happened. Right, that's where they make the cigars. This is where they store the tobacco before they make it. Well, this is like a curing barn, right?

And so, eh, curing barn burns down. Yeah. It's not the only one we have. Maybe it could have only been like filler.

It doesn't matter. It's just tobacco. It's not, you know, like, it burns. No one gets harmed.

There's not a ton of people in there. Right. Nobody died. Nobody got hurt.

He has to leave fire department, snapped right into place, he said, and put the fire out. Yeah. So, you know, the fire's out, they rebuild it, and now they have the special tobacco. Yeah.

Fire cured tobacco. Fire cured tobacco. I don't know, it might not be any left. It looked like the entire barn was engulfed in the top.

It was cooked? It looked like it in the video. Oh, wow. The photo that everybody puts up, it looks like it's only half.

But the video, the entire roof was engulfed in flames. Yeah, I can't imagine you getting that under control. Yeah, the SLE Fire Department put it out at NumPrum. Is there an SLE Fire Department?

There is. It sounds like after it burned down, they put it out. Okay. Who knows?

I saw the fire department one time come out when I was there. Did you? It's kind of like a... A bunch of guys with buckets, and then they go into the trough.

Hey, hey, hey, hey. You've been there once. You're probably really well experienced. He's an expert.

No, no, but I'm just saying, like, I saw those guys, like, I never saw them put out fire, but I don't know if they're, you know... Because I've seen... They're not like our guys. I was going to say, I've seen, like, Chinese fire departments.

They don't, you know, they're not like... Yeah. It's a third-world country. What do you expect?

Right. No, I'm just saying. It's like the old-fashioned pump trucks. One guy's on either end, and they're pumping in, and the guy's got the little hose that's about that big around, and, oop, can't do that, sorry, I didn't mean to do that, I was showing the hose size.

Lee, you forgot to put in the water. Lee, I don't want to, what happened now? There's no, uh, there's no, uh, there's no, never mind. Yeah.

Oh, my God. I can't think of any way where I just didn't just dig that hole deeper. The Esteli Fire Department are all first responders for their swift action and professionalism. There you go.

The company also expresses appreciation in the immediate support offered by fellow manufacturers and members of the Esteli Cigar Community. Do you think when these guys build back the barns and stuff, like, do they put in anything for, like, fire suppression? Yeah. No.

No. It's a barn, bro. Yeah, how will they run in anything to it? It's in the middle of a tobacco field.

No, I mean, the funnier part though, is the fact that there's always some type of fire that we hear from the cigar industry, and it's... An ongoing problem? It's every year you hear like... Yeah, it's like they take turns.

It's like every year you hear two or three that have... Okay, everyone at the table, who would like to burn down the barn this year? Anyone? Volunteers?

We need the barn burning? Well, we need to be in the news, so we'll go first. Well, Cynthia, you have not barn burned in a long time, so you're up. Right.

AJ's going, not me, man. I'm out. I just had one. I got too many orders.

I'm done. I get to skip the next two. I get to skip the next two. Because only AJ.

But it's not just Nicaragua. It's also... No, all of them do. Dominican Republic.

Sure, but they have a different meeting. They're not close by. You don't really hear too much from Honduras. I'm sure it happens.

Well, Dominican Republic, it's always Oturo Fuente. He loses every time. Another one. Sorry, you have more than anybody else.

There he goes. Another one. Are there a lot of factories in Honduras? There's some.

Yeah. There's some. Placencia has one, don't they? Maybe.

Move everything there. I know that CLE is from there. Same. La Roar.

And JRE. Yeah. La Roar is in Honduras? La Roar is in the Dominican Republic.

Don't they have one in Honduras? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they're making Caffey cigars now. I think.

I don't think so. Maybe. We don't know. We're guessing.

You're an expert too, huh? I'm not an expert. I never go anywhere. Honduran expert.

Pro Cigar reveals the 2026 auction as online bidding. So first time in history they have decided we could sell more if we put this online. Yeah. I mean, look, that's a practical approach.

Sure. You know, I'm sure there are people that want to bid, That weren't there. Maybe attendance is down or something and they didn't think they're going to get enough people's. Even if attendance was the same, it's like, okay, how do we raise more money?

Right. Well, bigger audience makes you raise more money. So that makes sense to me. Sure.

Very generic where they say the money goes. Yeah. Various local charities and organizations. Ah, so you think that there's some.

There's some... Like the Burn Down the Barn Committee. Like the Burn Down the Barn Committee. And the...

The Pay Placetia for Burning Down Their Barn Fund. The Alleged. The Alleged. I don't think that it was...

I think it was 100% accidental. More often than not, I don't... Oh, I'm sure. I don't think there's anybody in there firebombing the place with Molotov cocktails.

No, especially when it comes to a barn. I think that's very easy for time. Right, a bunch of guys in there making a thing. Some guy dozes off, decides to take a siesta.

I don't think that that's the case. that's the case he wakes up oh i think that the fire became too big and it caught something right tobacco right so i think they would find a better way to do it or a better way to contain the fire that they have to make i mean it's not just like a contain it's not just like a fire on the floor oh you mean like only like one part of the area burned is that what you're like you know put it Get in a fire pit that's got a top on it or something, because, I mean, it's gotta be some other way. Dude, them barns look like they could go up any day. This was a nice little barn, it was all painted white.

This is newer, yeah, maybe. Oh, was it? But some of them are, you know, 100 years. Well, I see some of them, they look like the ones inside.

God damn, you're like five for five, cut me off. I've been patient this whole time, I haven't said anything, I just let it happen. All right. He's excited.

I'll go back to raising my hand. No, go ahead. I'll go back to raising my hand. No, I'm done talking now.

He's excited. I'm excited about the fire. No, okay, great. Yeah, they should figure out a better way.

I don't think they will. I think that it's fine the way that they do it. I gotta be fine. They burn down a barn a couple times a year.

Maybe they need to do some employee training. Yeah. That would be one step, I guess. Make some rebuild.

Phil, how do they train the employees since you've been there? Yeah, since you're an expert. Oh, so what they do is, uh, I don't know. Fire bed.

To be honest with you, I don't think they train the employees on any of that anyways. Probably not. We need a fire here. We need a fire there.

Yeah. Don't make it too big. Don't make them too big. You know, if we went together and made one big one in the middle, we wouldn't have to make the two.

Yeah. New guy. Yeah. Great idea.

All right. The Vega Feta Tabla Calera De Garcia Humidor was incorrectly listed. Is it for people in that case they wanted to bid? Oh, okay.

Incorrectly listed at $20,000. It's supposed to be $2,000. It's supposed to be $6,000. It's supposed to be $6,000.

How do you mess that up? Wait, wait. Is this because nobody bought it and they're redoing it? Lowered the price, maybe?

Uh-oh. Uh-oh. No, no. I got a little carried away.

20? No, no. Six. Six.

How do you mix up those two numbers? Could have been just a half-wheel mistake. They don't really say. Oh.

They make a lot of mistakes lately. No. What else did they make mistakes? Last week, they said that the PCA was in March.

Oh, they messed up the TPE and PCA thing? Yeah. Hmm. The other day a word had two I's in it.

Oh, that's a big one. Two I's. Things happen, I understand. Typing's hard.

Yeah, I don't think that you should really be throwing stones at all about people. I am commiserating with my friends in the media. These people just don't understand us. Because I still don't know what's wrong.

Charlie and Patrick. I've had no updates on Samantha Guthrie from you lately either. Because you don't know what's real and what's not. It sounds like they're getting, um, close to apprehending somebody.

I thought there was like a warrant, like an issue, right? Yeah. Well, they, but they've let a couple people go, but it sounds like they were close to something. My wife read yesterday that the whole family's been in on it.

It was a way to make publicity for their name. No way. She read an article that had that in yesterday. That's what I mean.

What's true anymore? Well, if it is, there are, somebody's going to get arrested for that, because that's a fossil file report and there's a whole bunch of stuff. They just say, "Oh, look, we found Grandma. " Looks like they've analyzed the glove.

There was a glove found? Yep. Oh, was it like a black leather glove? If the glove doesn't fit, you must, you know, acquit.

's glove. It's a black leather glove. It looks like it's about 20 years old. Right.

Where'd you find it? The back of this Bronco? Oh, God. Come on, that was funny.

He drove in from Maine. Oh. But I'm pumped. It's called Callback.

You bring something back. I've called that one back like five times. That's all right. Now it's time for the industry's favorite game.

What's the score? Excellent, gentlemen. All right. First cigar of the day, April 1st, 2016.

Patrick LaGreed, Honduras, Leaf by Oscar, the Woody. Okay, I'll go first. Eighty-four. Eighty-six.

Eighty-six. You heard it, right? Where he started his brain? Rem, rem, rem, rem.

Cigar Reviewed, The Woody by Oscar, is from Honduras. It is from the Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Company factory. Wrappers under, and binders under, and fillers under, and it is 21 inches by 80. The Vitola is called The Woody.

Yep. Yep. They only smoked one. We used to carry these.

I was hoping they'd smoke three. I was like, who the hell would smoke all three of these? Back to back. Back to back.

You know what's funny? Out of all the cigars that they did of Oscar Valladares on Half Wheel, this is the one he picked. This is the one that excites you the most. No, it's just like.

It's a novelty cigar. Yeah, okay. It's 80 inches long for goodness gracious. You said 21.

21 inches long. Oh, 21 inches, sorry. It's 80 ring gauge. Sorry.

It's almost two feet long. Did you red light? You're just giving up on red light, haven't you? I didn't red light this weekend.

No, not completely. I don't give up completely. No, the red light has been put outside as a Christmas light. Yeah.

Yeah, we haven't taken it off the roof yet. Sorry. Right. I'm sticking 84.

86. Clue number one. Despite its massive proportions, the cigar is exceptionally well constructed. The wrapper seams are clean and nearly invisible.

The color matching is excellent and the cap is applied with a precision especially impressive giving the scale. Well, for a cigar produced by Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Company, this level of craftsmanship on such a large format is notable. 84. Yeah, it can't change because of the cap, so 86.

Clue number two, while it starts off muted, the cigar gradually refines itself. By the first third, it delivers a more cohesive and enjoyable profile featuring peanut, toast, pepper, earth, and almond. The retrohale becomes especially clean and vibrant, and the draw settles into an ideal resistance. The complexity and balance in the last stretch redeem much of the earlier performance.

Eighty-four. Yeah, I mean, it sounded normal, eighty-six. Clue number three, the cigar struggles with multiple technical problems, tight draw early on, Inconsistent smoke production, tunneling, shoveling burn lines, and repeated need for touch-ups. Wow.

For such a long smoking experience, around six hours, these issues... Dude. I'm sorry, I was reading you. Did you want to say something?

I apologize. I don't mind at all. Go ahead. What did you want to say?

I'm one to your five. All right. These issues detract meaningfully from overall enjoyment and demand more effort than most smokers would prefer. Seventy-nine.

Yeah, this thing is probably gonna do worse than that. I'll go seventy-five. Final thought. I've never been one for Noveli cigars.

While I do have a My Father baseball bat, we've already done that one. Which we don't recommend smoking. I don't smoke that at all. It's not on display, and I'm not even sure I could tell you where it is.

As much, as such, it is a bit hard for me to tell you to run out and grab one. The Woody by Oscar, other than to say you've done it, but to say that the cigar is without its bright spots would be unfair. He's looking it up. I'm sorry.

My wife is texting me. I was reading. I had to tell you that he was looking it up. I had to interject.

Two to five. The first 14 inches or so are fairly uneventful, and given the significant amount of airflow you have to generate to get smoke to your mouth, plus the burn issue in the second third, it may seem like too much of a mountain to climb to make the final third worth it. But that is exactly where the cigar shines. Fans of the Leaf by Oscar Corojo blend will immediately recognize the flavors, rich in earth and pepper, with a decent amount of nicotine for a full sensory effect.

The big ring gauge does require a bit more conscientious smoking, as a sizable core of heat can get very hot, very quick, and as much adversely affect the flavor. But with a bit of self-discipline and the willingness to overlook the 80 plus ring gauge can offer a pretty decent smoking experience. I'm done now. Seventy...

Seventy-three. Forty-five, forty-seven. I said 45. 45?

No, no, that's not my final answer. I didn't say final answer. 72. You went the wrong way.

76. I knew it. 76? I knew I could press them lower.

Hold on a sec. If I stuck at 75, I would have won. What did this thing not have wrong with it, combustion-wise? The last third was amazing.

The last two hours of the cigar were great. Four hours before, shit, it's the last two. How much was this cigar? I don't know, it was like 60 bucks I think.

60 bucks? It's right, it's one of those things you just smoke it to say you smoked it. Why don't you just clip off the two-thirds then and smoke the last part? Oh, I paid for the whole thing.

" I think that that was a... I don't want to smoke this. Yeah, I don't want to smoke it, you smoke it. " Six hours.

You know what we'll do? We'll make him smoke it. That's what we'll do. Make Patrick smoke it.

Brian. Should have made Brian smoke it. I haven't heard anything. Like, you never do, Brian.

Because he's never around. He's never around. He doesn't do many. How's he employed there?

He's their PCA guy. Oh, that's the only time? So he's like overflow. Right.

All right. April 11, 2024. Charlie Minato cigars. C.

Newman Limited Edition. The American All-Star. Ooh. C.

Neumann. Phil. C. Neumann.

Um, I think I've smoked this. I'll go, uh, I'll go '82. Eighty-eight. Hmm.

The American All-Star, Country of Origin, USA Factory, the Neumann Factory in Tampa, Rapper, USA, Florida, Binder, USA, Connecticut, Broadleaf, Filler, USA, Connecticut, Pennsylvania. 5 by 50 Toro Extra. Ooh, $100. Woo.

You smoked this? No, I did not smoke this one. Humor Wards of 30 for $3,000. They smoked three.

$300? That's $300. $300. American.

Because they always buy their cigars. I'm going to stick it at 82. Okay. 86.

Clue number one, all three cigars show distinct signs of aging, particularly in the aroma and underlying sweetness. At their best, they deliver a layered profile featuring graham crackers, cocoa, pretzel, oatmeal, peanuts, cedar, and botanical notes with creaminess helping to round out things. C. Newman Company have well-developed tobacco with real depth.

Phil? So he's drinking gin and eating peanuts. 84, he started sounding like he liked it. 87.

Clue number one, removing the band noticeably improves airflow on at least one cigar, leading to better combustion and a slight uptick in flavor clarity. While not a complete fix, this suggests the blend itself performs more enjoyable, when not physically restricted, revealing more cedar, rye bread, creaminess, and balanced pepper notes in the final third. So the band was constricting the cigar? Apparently so.

Is that unusual? Is that a rubber band? Maybe it was too tight. Maybe it was an underfilled cigar.

83. 85. The dominant issue across all three cigars is the overly tight draw. It restricts smoke production, mutes flavors, increases bitterness, harshness, and requires repeated touch-ups.

Even when flavors show promise, the constricted flow undermines the experience, preventing the profile from reaching its full potential. That was the third clue. Oh, brain going. 83.

80. Final thought. As I've written way too often on this site, poor construction will directly impact the flavor profile. Oftentimes, I then write something along the lines of: So, because of the poor construction, I don't really know how these cigars were supposed to taste.

In this case, I've smoked enough of the American cigars to have a decent idea. This was bad. Too sharp, too dry, too bitter version of the American's normal profile. For my palate, the Leroy Neiman's 2023 collector's edition is the best cigar to come out of the factory, and I don't think the all-star with a better draw would change that take.

75. 76. 81. Got it.

It was still in the 80s? Barely. No, barely. It's still in the '80s, period.

Yeah, usually draw is just 81, 82. But since you lowered that window, brought it all the way down to 75. You can go higher. Yeah.

I win both rounds, na na na na boo. You need to rev more. Yeah, more revving. More revving.

No, I've been tired. You know, something like that. Rum, rum, rum, rum, rum, rum, rum. You're tired?

Yeah. Is that what you said? That's your excuse for losing? I've been tired of that.

I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted. All right, that's it. Where are you going to be?

On the 25th, I will be at Northport Cigars in Northport, Florida, from 1 to 5. Perfect. It's not this week, it's next week. And again, if you value the entertainment and education we're providing, please like and subscribe.

Thank you so much for everybody's support. Phil? Goodbye. All right, guys.

Bye. Thank you.
