Transcript

Here we go! Welcome to a Cigar Hustler Podcast episode 519. I'm Mike Palmer, your host, and with me today in engineering is Phil McGuffey. Hello.

Oh, no. No, not today. We got some serious business. And then it's my co-host with a new feature, What's on Mikey's Mind, Mike Szczefankiewicz.

Hi. What's on Mikey's Mind? Let's go into the first... Oh, that's where I had you set up to do it.

I want to do the CH pod, all that stuff, and then we'll break into it. Oh, that's not the way I had it set up. Sorry. On today's show, Asian Jumping Worms are here.

Icon Park has been taken over. Jimmy Kimmel is back in trouble. Of course. Taylor Swift has been granted a trademark.

Oh. And then in cigars, I found some news. There are some news. There's some news.

Well, it might be a little old news, but there is still news. Thank the Lord. There's always news. There's always, well, no, not always news.

There has been news. You are the news anchor. You discovered the news. I discovered the news.

Alright, before we get started though, Mikey, how do we get that CH Pod swag? What you want to do is like and subscribe wherever you're viewing or listening to this show. com swag, where you buy one, you get the second one 40% off, spend $100 or more, and you get free shipping. com, us, Cigar Hustlers podcast, where we had a good one this week, for sure.

It's coming up on this Thursday, you're going to love it. And some comments. Comments. Some comments.

Lots of comments. There's a lot of comments lately. Yes. Comment below on this episode.

Today is the final day to be entered to win a winged Hazara's hat that somebody blew off their appointment and their loss. Just like this. Dope. Their loss is your gain for the potential chance to win.

Okay, some comments. Love when you're prepared. Da da da da da da da. I got a wall list.

Oh! T-Money gave us hats, by the way. They're in the car. We'll do them on the next show.

Oh. He got hats for us. Sorry, T. Thank you, T.

I'll make sure that we do them on the next show. Give them to the wrong guy. They're here, but I'm running late. I love you.

He's mad at you. What? He's mad at you. He's mad at me?

Should be a comment. " Eh, wow. There you go. That was a me?

Yeah, yesterday you said he didn't know what he was talking about. He said he didn't know what he's talking about. Oh. He doesn't?

Now you're on the list. Oh. Something Phil was doing, and you said, well, T-Money doesn't know what he's talking about. Oh.

Oh, I think we're talking about sports, probably. Whatever. Sorry, T. Love you.

Now you're on the list. I'm off. Plus, you forgot the hats. Oh, you're so on his list.

Did he block his number? No, don't block it. No, because then he calls me, don't block his number. Blackest number.

Oh, now you're on the list. Back on the list. Back on the list. Just like that.

Damn it. " We don't have time for anything. I don't have time for that. Yeah, we have to get you guys a show.

I don't know what you guys do in your company. Yeah, we don't have time for that. Mr. Fancy Suit.

Brett Mercurio says the same thing. You guys need to quarantine in the abandoned sloth world building. Oh, yeah, that'd be nice. That would be nice, yeah.

Yeah, there's no power, no water, no electricity. No, yeah, maybe it wouldn't be that good. We'll die, we'll get cold snap, or what it's called, cold stun. Al Wolpe, my boy, Jason, we appreciate the hard work y'all put in to the show every day, but damn, take a couple days off and get some rest.

We will survive without the show for a day or two. No, then watch something else. Never surrender. Never surrender.

Never give up. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. We won't survive without you. You might survive without us, but we won't survive without you.

Aw, look at you. So we're on it, and we're going to deliver, even if we're half a person. Yeah, we're trying to get to 1,000 before Palmer dies. 1,000 episodes?

Yeah. Better hurry up. Ruckus on Jane says, Mikey is patient zero. In this scenario, yes, I am.

Nope, Preston. Oh, yeah, he blames Preston. Real Smoke Pod says, The look and sound of panic when Phil almost took out the show was priceless. Yeah, keep those feedback.

I would say feel better, but every time I do, Mikey gets worse. Yeah. Thanks, bro. I appreciate you guys.

That was a pretty funny portion of the show when utter panic sets in. But I'm on the man, man. I got antibiotics now, so we're rolling today. You're not contagious.

I don't think I've been contagious for a while. Oh, good. If you want to hear a comment on the show, possibly comment on the show, comment below on this episode and maybe we'll read it off in the next one. Now, to get on with the show.

Asian jumping worms have been present in some parts of the country for more than a century, but this threat is growing as they move west. What are you laughing at over there, Chuckles? What a story. Asian jumping worms cannot be eradicated.

You can't kill them. Really? Yes, they chew up the ground and make it look like coffee grounds. Really?

Yes. People are texting me. You can't kill them? No.

What happens when you chop them up? Well, that way you can step on them, but there's no pesticide or anything that kills them. Well, acid. Yeah.

Well, that's gonna ruin the ground. S. from Asia in the 1800s, most likely from imported plants and agricultural products. Their name comes from the behavior when disturbed, they thrash, spring into the air, and even shed their tails to escape.

Wow. These are terrible things. We gotta jump. Fortunately, they are not in Florida.

Why are they not in Florida? It's too hot, they don't like it here. Too hot? Too hot.

They're across the Midwest. Well, hey, I guess we're safe. - We are safe down here for the moment, but still, they're in the northeast, southeast, northwest, but they've been spreading in recent years, more recent appearing in west coast in Canada, so they're going north, they're not coming south. - Sorry, John.

- They're going to the 51st state? - They're going to the 51st state, we're fine, we're good down here. - Okay. - All right, did you see on the news where the Icon Park was taken over by teenagers?

- No. - They did one of those takeover things? - Okay. - You know where Icon Park is?

- In Florida? Yeah, down on I Drive where the big wheel is and the other stuff, thousands of teenagers converged in Icon Park. Really? And then there were riots and fights, and nine teenagers were arrested.

Why did they do this? It's a thing teens do, they do a takeover. That's all show up. I don't know who organizes these things, but somebody picks a place, they all go there and they cause mischief and mayhem.

Okay, only nine got arrested? Yeah, only nine. They were the slow ones? For fighting.

For fighting. They were fighting? They were the aggressive ones. Or the slow ones.

Yeah. The ones that couldn't escape. Right. One of the parents is complaining that their child was roughed up a little bit by the police.

Yeah. I don't care. I'm going to rough him up. Which hooligan was it?

You weren't specifically in the name? No. They're not really in the name, but his last name started with an H, they said. Oh.

H-I. Mm. P-P. Wow.

Wow. That's as close as I can get to his name. I don't know where to go from there. Interesting.

But what would you have done if you were down there? I mean, all of a sudden you're there with your family and all of a sudden all these kids, they all come in at one time. It's not like onesie-twosie show up. They all arrive and then come in like ants.

You ever see Man on Fire? Yeah. Denzel Washington. I wish you had more time.

You're gonna put a bomb up somebody's butt? He's leaving, he's trying to get out of the club, and he just starts firing the rounds of the shotgun in the air. Oh, is that what you're gonna do? That's how you clear him out.

That's how you clear him out, baby! Boom! I don't remember the part Palmer was talking about. Yeah, he's got the guy strapped on the hood of the car, trying to get information from him.

He already got it from him. And they said, "One more wish. " I wish you had more time. And then he blows up.

They're making the show on Netflix. TV? Yeah, I saw that. Is it Christy beforehand?

I'm intrigued. Yeah, it's supposed to be him before. It's a prequel? It's a prequel.

It's gotta be, because he gets killed at the end of the movie. Well, you don't know that. He's been shot four times already before they haul him away. So what?

Pretty much. You don't know. It could be an after. I don't think it's an after.

Yeah, Liam Nelson never dies. Liam Nelson? Liam Nelson. Who the hell's Liam Nelson?

In another movie. Liam Neeson? Yeah, that guy. Yeah, Liam Neeson.

He's not in the movie. I'm just saying, in his movies, he never dies. Oh. Yeah.

Neither does Thor. Thor doesn't die in all his movies he makes for Netflix. Thor? The guy who plays Thor.

Oh, in Extractor or something? Yeah, Extractor. Yeah, right. It's a dental movie.

What's it called? Chris Nelson. Extraction. Chris Nelson?

Chris Nelson. Liam Hemsworthy or whatever it's called. Liam Hemsworthy? That's the brother, I think.

That's his brother. Hemsworthy? Yeah. Emsworth, One's Worthy.

I don't know. Isn't that his last name? Hemsworth. Hemsworth.

Hemsworth. Oh. Chris Hemsworth? We're not getting any names right today at all.

Making fun of me. Hey, you've been recovering, those sloths have been emancipated. Yeah. I was gonna, dude, there was a little clip on that, but it didn't, it didn't, it killed off after.

Oh. So I didn't say what, emancipated? Also emancipated? No.

Yes. I didn't do all of it, so I had to let it go. Aw, it's too bad. All right, Jimmy Kimmel's back in the news.

What would you do if it happened to you? You could just leave, I mean, I'd leave. You don't have small kids. Right.

No, but I would put my arm around my wife, who's probably panicking at this point, and leave. Or let her beat seven or eight of the kids up for teacher ninja stuff she knows. Just leave. Would you, if they're in your way, you start running them over?

With the car? Yeah. Yeah, honking a horn, pushing them out of the way. Sure, I mean, that's legal.

You can do that. - I knew that. - Yeah. - I mean.

- I think if they're not even in the way. - In the state of Florida, you can run them down. - What are you doing as a parent? Like, if I find out that my kid went down there, I'm like, what the hell is wrong with you?

- Right, yeah, you give him the speech. What are you doing? I just saw you on TV. - Right.

- You're gonna go to jail. - Speech? Man, spake that kid. - Get in the car.

Get out of there. - So what do you do? - If it was my kid? - You abandon, no.

- Yeah, he's not going down there. - You're down there, you abandon your pregnant wife and you get in the car and you drive off? And your children? No.

Daddy's going for the car, and then he never comes back. Yeah. No, but I did like the part where you guys say you can run them over. I mean, that's...

You can in Florida. Super GTA-ish. Yeah. Super GTA-ish.

Super GTA-ish. That's right. You play GTA 7. Yeah.

Oh, here we go. No stars, baby. No stars. Cops ain't looking for me.

Nope. It's too funny. Yeah. Okay.

And if it was your kid? He's getting spanked. Spanky? Spanky's 18 years old.

You're spanking him? Yeah. He might spank back. Yeah, okay, come on.

Do you think your kid at this point wants to fight you? Maybe. It gets to that age. Yeah.

Yeah, when they blow up on you. Do you think he'd take you? No. No?

No? Even with the bad hips, the bad knees, all the bad, bad, bad? Yeah. He's not, no.

It's not happening? No. Oh, wait, does he think he can take him or the kid could take Boo? - You say that if he thinks my son could take it.

- You think your kid could take it? - Oh, I don't think he could take it. Unless he's gotten a whole lot bigger. - Yeah, I think you're right.

Interesting stuff. - Yeah. - Mine, though, take me. - Did your kid ever want to fight you?

- Uh, Adrian's kid did. - Yeah, this is the whole you're not my dad thing. - Well, that happened twice. Why does my mother keep texting?

So weird. - She doesn't know how to text. - They're probably voicemails. He almost had to take me and Connor both because when he tried, Connor bowed up behind me.

Really? So there's nothing, but your boys never? No. Oh.

That's cool. You're a good dad. Or they just figured they could take me and there's no point to it. Yeah?

What do I do? Are you going to kick his ass? Want me to kick the old man's ass? Come on.

Then you just beat up an old man. Okay. Go ahead. Moving on.

Do you ever want to fight your dad? - Oh, yeah. I almost did. - Oh?

- Mike, he's super aggressive. I don't even know why you asked that question. - That's why I figured it was an easy yes. - Yeah.

- I didn't think you'd ask that question, to be honest. Yeah. - Did Greg ever want to fight your dad? - No.

- No? - No, Greg's a golden child. - Yeah. - Oh, dad liked him better, too?

- Uh... - It seemed like you and your dad were closer than Greg and him. - I think my dad... I think my dad liked me more, as we got older.

- Yeah. - Um, but no, for me... " And he left as a mess. He walked out of the house.

Yeah. So... Well, it's turned really sad. He probably would've kicked my ass.

Yeah, he's a big dude. Yeah. Not very fast, but he was big, he was solid. - I was pretty big and angry.

- You're much bigger now than you were then. - 18, I was pretty big. 17? - Oh, I didn't know you then.

- Yeah, I was pretty big. I was pretty strong. - I was getting divorced, rather, for the second time. - Yeah.

- Nice. - I liked it in the last comments. We were talking about millennials, and you're like, 1984, you're like, that was my junior year in high school. - Yeah, that was my junior year in high school.

- Okay. - I could have been your dad. - He could still be my dad, he's dead. - Oh, there you go.

- Wow. - And I am short a son, so. There you go. Down one.

All right. Jimmy Kimmel's back in the news. Did you guys hear anything about this? No.

I did. You did? I thought you only get your news from me. Yeah, I saw it on social media.

What, did Preston tell you about it? Yeah, Preston told me about it. Hmm. First Lady Melania Trump is not happy about late night host Jimmy Kimmel's recent joke about her.

Look at Melania. It's so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have the glow like an expected widow.

Right. Whoa. But, he made this comment two days on tape before the assassination attempt. Kimmel quit during a sketch on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The segment was the comedian's mock alternative speech to the White House Correspondents Dinner, which aired two days before the real event that the Trumps attended together after gunfire authorities subdued a heavily armed man. Blah-de-blah-de-blah. But Trump and Melania are asking the TV station to fire him because of the comment. Of course, seems a little extreme.

I mean, hindsight's 20/20, but he didn't know that was going to happen. Right. Yeah. How do you feel about it, Phil?

Do you think that, uh... Did the show come out before the thing happened on TV? Did it come out before or after the thing happened on TV? Palmer?

It happened, um... So it was pre-recorded. It was pre-recorded. They played it at the dinner.

They played Jimmy Kimmel's show at the dinner? Not the show, but at the Comet. So the show must have aired. The Comet came out on TV after the thing had happened.

Oh, okay, so it still released. Right. Yeah, they should have probably have cut that part out or... Edited it?

Yeah. Yeah, okay. That's a great point, Phil. I honestly didn't think of it like that.

Yeah, I guess I could have. Well, I just thought of it as how we do things, I mean... Right, realistically. Yeah, you're right.

I mean, we're a fine-tuned machine over here with millions of dollars behind us like NBC or whatever friggin' network he's on. Like, I don't have a problem with Jimmy Kimmel making the joke, right? Because, look, it's comedy, it's supposed to be funny, or at least he's trying to be funny. Now, when people take it as funny, look, that's entirely up to the person.

" And then at that point, don't watch Jimmy Kimmel, right? Like, okay, now from the producer side or the executive side, this happens and this is about to air. " - Yeah, you think somebody should have thought of that. - Yeah, the timing is off now, it's completely inappropriate.

We gotta let this-- - It's in bad taste, we shouldn't do it. - Right, you know, now this thing has happened. We gotta let it go, we gotta trim that off. So I wouldn't, I wouldn't, for optics purposes, I think that's why Trump does all that, brr, brr, brr, whatever.

But I think realistically, from a business standpoint, if I run that company, I look at who's supposed to make that call, and because they didn't, that guy's gotta go. - Right. - That guy's gotta go. - That makes more sense.

- Like, hey, you're no longer protecting the best interests of this organization by letting something like that happen. - Yeah. - Right? And maybe you're jaded from a political standpoint, whatever, and you're like, "I'm gonna let this rip," when you shouldn't have, because it's not funny.

- No, well I'm sure after it happened, because of everything going on with the assassination, nobody even thought that that was still there. Nobody even remembered that he made an off-color comment. - Yeah, until it aired. " - Well, that's a lame-ass excuse.

- Yeah. - Like, you gotta be on the ball. - Right. Like, this is not, you know, this is your national television, man.

I mean, and Jimmy Kimmel always says something about Trump anyway, so you would think, like, the editors would go, "Hey, the assassination just happened. Maybe we should watch the episode before we release it. " You know, but that's a good point, too. There's something to be said about constantly doing something and then developing a tolerance for it that's actually unacceptable, right?

Because if you constantly berate a person, and you're grooming your crowd to be used to it, now you have the attention of everybody, and now they're like, hey, this is not okay, you know, so, like, I don't know, I don't watch a lot of late night shows, I think, what's the other guy? I don't like his, personally, Jimmy Fallon. Like, Fallon will cut some Trump jokes. I like Fallon's show better.

Fallon cuts Trump jokes, but he doesn't do it every single goddamn episode, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, he doesn't kill it. And he'll also punch jokes to the other side, where you know that Kimmel just outright does not like Trump. And it's no longer funny anymore, at least in my opinion.

I'm sure that there are people that love to watch it just to hear about it. I'm sure that there are Trump people that love to watch it just to get upset about it. I don't have the time and energy for either one of those things, to be honest. And the fact of the matter is, it becomes too much.

It becomes too much. I mean, we even talk about stuff that we have conversations on the show. If we become redundant about something and we bring it up and we're like hazing Phil about one thing in particular, and we do it two or three times consecutively, we're like-- - Every day. - Like, okay, we need to walk this back a little bit.

This has become too much, right? So-- - Yeah, like this mask. - So it's kind of two-fold, right? One is, don't make it your whole thing, because it becomes too much.

- Sure. And for two, that editor should have did a better job. Well, there's got to be a series of people that heard that. I mean, there's got to be a director, a producer, I mean, there's tons of people.

" Clip that out. This just happened, clip that out. " You know, you at least got to wait a decade or two before you start cutting 9/11 jokes again, you know? Maybe this is the same guy.

What? Maybe it's the same editor. The same editor? Yeah.

That guy didn't do it. That didn't happen. That was a fictitious event. I'm sorry.

I thought you were saying that was a real thing. Don't do drugs, man. Wow. Keep your kids in school.

See, this is what we're talking about, the hazing stuff. No, this is not exactly what we're talking about, the hazing stuff. I feel like it is. You'll be okay, Phil.

Get back in your shelter. You'll be fine. Wow. Single person shelter.

All right, let's move on. You know, just enough food for me for 30 years. Okay. Taylor Swift has been granted a trademark for her voice and her face.

This is some AI shit that's going on. Right, it's going up against AI. So she's got it until she dies and then 70 years after that. Wow.

So AI cannot copy her face or her voice. This is so the creepos can't copy her face or her voice. I mean, it's a thing against AI until the laws get into the place where they don't have to do this. Okay, so what determines the image looking exactly like Taylor Swift?

I don't, if it's like any other trademark, 20%. Right, so. Change the nose. Right, so I could say to AI, I need someone to look similar to Taylor Swift.

Well, that's what I have to do when I do images. I have to do, I need a Trump look-alike. Right. And as far as I'm concerned, it's Trump.

Right. I mean... It looks just like him. It looks just like him, as far as I know.

I need the voice to sound similar to... Right. Right? Taylor Swift.

I guess she's just trying to do the best she can. I mean, what else are you gonna do? Just give in? No, I mean, like this...

Her face and her voice is worth a lot of money. I'm not upset about it. I think that this is interesting. It's interesting to see where this goes.

Now other... you would think now other celebrities and singers will start to do it. Right. Guys, it's probably just like the Disney thing.

Remember when Disney did this whole, like, uh, trademark or ban against using characters or whatever? I. their characters and then they decided just to shut down the company. Yeah, like, no, this is a terrible idea.

Yeah, because it started being creepy stuff. Like a billion dollars later. Like, oh, never mind. They bought it just to close it.

Right. Shut it down. Let's smash this technology right now. Yeah.

Poor Ariel's doing something to the crab. Right, that's what I'm saying, like, poor Taylor, that's probably what she's thinking, she's like, you know what, there's some creepos out there. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna be doing something with some weird guy. Yeah.

I think that we're witnessing the end of social media, that's what we're witnessing. Nah. Well, I do know Facebook, from what I understand, I went to this networking event for weddings, and they said a lot of people aren't using Facebook anymore, they're moving to Instagram. Yeah, Facebook is your old man platform, you know, it's your older people.

So, eventually that would just probably, you know, migrate to something else. Well, everything turns into something. I mean, we don't have MySpace anymore. Well, the generations turn on to something else, right?

Yeah, they'll find something else. Like, TikTokers have a specific age demograph other than you and you. Right. We love TikTok.

It's like watching TV. Yeah. I forgot, Palmer, you had TikTok. I'll have to send you TikToks.

No, don't send me TikToks. Snapchat was a big one for younger kids. Right. Yeah.

I can't get into it. What's your Snap? Let me have your Snappy. What's your Snappy?

What's your Snappy? I can't get into Snapchat. I can either. You know what's funny, too?

That shit drives me nuts, too. I'll use some of the filters sometimes, but that's all I use it for. Yeah, but when you're hanging out with somebody that's younger, like, what the hell are you doing? Right.

You're taking a picture every 10 seconds? I gotta send Snappies. Yeah. Like, okay, let's pump the brakes on that for a second.

Yeah. Like, nobody cares. My fans, they care. All three of them.

I have more than three. I have more than three. It's for my friends. I've noticed Instagram is ramping up.

I'm getting more play on Instagram than before. Really? Yeah. Well, they said at that networking event, they said that people are starting to use the search engine on Instagram a lot because it's an AI-driven one, supposedly.

What does that mean? I don't know. Like anything that they want to search, like good food in my area. And they search it on Instagram because you can go to the pages of the restaurants, and most companies have a page of Instagram, but it's because it's through AI, I guess it centers it to whatever you search.

Oh, interesting. Meta. I mean, Facebook is Instagram. Yeah, they're both on the same company.

Well, that was my argument when they were asking questions. " It's two different platforms. Facebook's becoming a lot more ad-driven. Is it?

It seems, yeah. There's a lot of ads on Instagram, too, though. Yeah, but they're pretty pictures, it doesn't seem as bad. I don't have to watch a video about Cheerios.

Because they're more tasteful? Yeah. Is that what you're saying? They're better done.

It's a nice picture and some music. Yeah. Not somebody, not the honeycomb bee or whatever it is. Yeah.

I don't think I have any honeycomb bees on mine. Well, you will now, because you just mentioned it. congratulations honey nut cheerio honey nut cheerio the bees live their life right honey and die well then tick tock i mean if you watch one video next thing you know 75 videos with the same song just different people yeah oh he liked that song for the show bring him some more bring him more photos nothing says but other than a jet pod getaway or whatever it was oh i really He likes that. He watched it twice.

"No, we've got to go to the bathroom with my phone running. " All right, Mike, you got a video? I don't have a video today. Oh.

Oh. Womp, womp. I failed you. Womp, womp.

Good, I don't have to cut one in. It was just a matter of time. I don't have to cut it in. It's fine.

All right, Cigar News. You should act like you have a video, then put one on. Oh, but speaking of which, when he does videos, don't do the three shot. It's very hard to put the video in, hard for him to edit.

I've tried explaining that to you. Multiple times. I'm sorry, I did a three-shot when we were all watching the video. Yeah, but don't do that.

Yeah, don't do that. It's hard to put the video in and it's hard for him to cut it out. Yeah. Okay.

God damn it. How many times do I got to tell you? You can cut between the three of us. Please don't beat me.

The problem is Phil always wants to be on the screen. Right, he wants to be on the screen. So now that he has this option of like, alright, well I'm not saying anything, but I want to be on the screen anyways. Right.

So he hits this button. " I'm just gonna leave the camera on me the whole time. I don't watch the show. I don't watch the entire show, please.

I don't have that kind of time. Alright, so I just do it in the middle. Alright, two new Davidoff-Winston-Churchill's heading to Travel Retail. 5x55 Gran Robusto Vitola to the two Winston Churchill lines.

The upcoming Davidoff Voyagers selection. Anything you can charge? You can get in trouble for going on Voyagers? He doesn't have trademarks, I'm sure.

Yeah, that's probably right. Winston Churchill is an eight-count box that contains four of each of the Davidoff Winston Churchill's and the Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour. Each cigar has an MSRP of, how much are these little babies? Seventeen dollars.

Davidoff. Davidoff Fat Churchill. 19. 35.

Yeah, I went too low. Oh! It's going to be offered to Global Travel Retail Account, what does that mean? I have no idea.

Duty Free Shops? Maybe. Not this place, probably. No, not us.

It's going to be worldwide. It's expected to arrive on May 14th. Oh, your voice worked well with that. Thank you.

Yeah, it was. Worldwide. You could do, like, the movie trailers. Oh, yeah, we got to start doing some drops real quick.

Right, before his voice gets better. Right. The white banded Winston Churchill, which Davidoff is referred to as the original series, uses an Ecuadorian ROJIZA? ROJIZA?

Yeah. ROJIZA? ROJIZA Rapper? RO.

You gotta roll that R. Roll the R. ROJIZA. All right, let's just go to the Mexican San Andreas Negro binder and five filler leaves.

Dominican Piloto, Maggiordo Seco, Piloto Seco, and hybrid Orlo Piloto Seco, and Seco from both Condega and Esteli, Nicaragua. " A small package update for the line. The late hour uses an Ecuador and Habano Maroon Oscuro wrapper. Over a Mexican San Andreas Negro Blender, and Dominican Tobaccos, Orlo Viso, Piloto Secco, and San Vincent Maggiore Do Viso, and a Viso from SLE.

A lot of tobacco in these things. Very specific. Stuffed. Very specific about what's in these cigars.

Sorry, my cough comes when I talk. " I need somewhere between Jesus Want to get that one out? You want a sip of water or what? No, I have a drink here.

I need somewhere between beyond undisclosed but behind what we just got. Right. Oddly specific. I need mid-level.

Undisclosed. Yeah, give me mid-level, you know. Oh, speaking of mid-level, Drew Estates opening farm and factory in Dominican Republic. Wow.

Ooh. While its beginning was in New York, Drew Estate has long been associated with Nicaragua as to where the company's factory is, and the local culture has been reflected in the company's artwork and occasionally its cigars. Now Drew Estate, is it called Sans Estate now? Nope.

Is expanding its footprint as the company has announced that it has its own farm and building its own 73,000 square foot factory in the Dominican Republic, both under the banner of Drew Dominicana. Everything Changed, oh sorry, Everything Changes Today, said Johnson Drew Sands, Co-Founder and President of Drew Estate. No, that's not it, that was like a merge between Coop and Drew. Yeah, it was.

Yeah, it was weird. Yeah. With a stroke. Can't get it with a voice, sorry.

Heyer, I will forever be our home base, but today, with planting our official flag in the Dominican Republic, we are on to something very big, very purposeful, and powerful. We're meeting a moment of evolution head-on with open arms as we embrace a new season of learning and organized growth. Everybody put the open arms up. Yeah, open arms.

Fell, open arms, fell. Fell, open arms. There you go. The Drew State culture, what I proudly call our subculture, will now include a vibrant addition layers of Dominican influence that will shine as bright as the sun itself.

So why are they going to the Dominican Republic? I get to ask the questions. I asked you. Viva last the questions!

Viva last the questions! Phil, why do you think they're going to the Dominican Republic? Uh, less tariffs. Less tariffs.

Exact same tariff from both countries at the moment. Currently, the tariffs are the same. It is simply magical, according to this. Okay.

Why do you think they're going... I don't know, that's why I asked you. I want to hear your point of view. Edging his bets.

Edging his bets. Expanding, making it bigger. I don't know, didn't Fuente go to Nicaragua from Dominican Republic? The Dominican Republic?

Yeah. But, I mean, you would argue the fact that Nicaragua has better tobacco, better ability to make better cigars. Well, they've come out with two cigars that are Dominican now. Correct.

The Dominicana Dominican? Yep. And the Liga Privada Dominican. Oh, they came out with the Liga Privada Dominican?

Yeah. Okay. They announced it at the PCA trade show. I'm surprised you were there.

I thought you would have known. I was busy. I was busy too, I was still in it. I guess you're not that busy.

I think that it's... I think that they're... Oh, the underground El Tigre Dominicano. We have it upstairs.

I think that they're hedging their bets. That's what I said. You said I was wrong. I didn't say you're wrong.

I think that realistically, like, there's a lot of turmoil off and on politically from Nicaragua and the United States. , then you're done. So if you build a different factory in a different country, at least you have the option to continue to produce. You might be able to facilitate getting tobacco over there so you can still make similar cigars and keep things operational.

S. and Nicaragua, like what's the, these guys produce coffee and tobacco, what's the deal? - It's a political thing, see there's politics involved, not just what we get from them. - Yeah, it's a question of, you know, like, from a, look, disclaimer.

- Nothing we say is true and or factual. - We have no idea what we're talking about. - Not. - Pay no attention to us.

I am not a political or world economic person here. However... A Polish guy from Miami. I'm not even from Miami.

Don't give me that credit. Miami. Mia. I believe that when you kind of look at things...

I believe I can... I'm sorry. When you look at things from like a world standpoint, specific countries support specific countries, right? So, like China, Venezuela, Nicaragua, They're all originally tied together for supporting each other.

Now we hit Venezuela, but I still believe that, I could be wrong, that Nicaragua has close ties to Russia as well, like those guys. - The bad guys. - Are they bad? - We don't like them.

- I don't know man, I can't look at media and assume anything, I always have questions. Like Russia, North Korea, China, not Venezuela anymore. We own that. Right.

Nicaragua. I mean, like, do any of them really want to mess with us? I think that's a mistake. I think Russia and China...

I mean, Kim Jong-un called after we got Maduro. We cool, right? Yeah, we good, right? Hey, bro.

High five. By the way, I'm not at my house. I. Joe, I'm not at my house.

I'm not going to any meetings. Yeah. No meetings. Cancel all meetings.

Yeah, not with the other 48 of you, I'll tell you that much right now. Who is Glenn Wolfensohn? I have no idea. CEO of Drew Estate.

Why have we never seen this man? I have no idea. Paying no attention to the men behind the curtain. Glenn Wolfensohn.

" Sounds like this is the guy that does the work. I am Glenn Wolfensohn. " What a weird voice. The farm is located in Villa Gonzales, Dominican Republic, and will provide Drew Dominicana with the ability to grow proprietary tobaccos.

Special tobaccos. " And we take care of these farmers. Are they still taking care of those farmers? I hope so.

Well, they bought the farm. It sounds like they're expanding, so do they need more tobacco? I mean, that would make sense. But you would hope that they would still back and support the people who got them to where they are at.

Who is Manuel Perlata? I don't know, but I bet you he knows Glenn. He's known for decades working with Davido's Dominican operation. He's running the farm.

Got him. All right, Glenn. This project represents years of work behind the scenes, says Martin van der Linden, oh this is a new name, who's Martin van der Linden? He's friends with Wolfenstein, he is head, he is Drew's State's head of tobacco procurement.

Who are these new people? Sounds like Rush has taken over. I think I met this guy. First thing we find out is Drew is not called Drew.

So many things. And now all of a sudden there's these 17 people with these long names that are all these, they're all German, they're all German. We are taking over the Dominican Republic. We like the tobacco here.

The tobacco is very good. Is the five-year plan up? Dominican Tobacco, I'm waiting for a new name. After every quote, there's a new name.

Dominican Tobacco has incredible depth and character, but only when you invest properly. We are working the best product. You can only make truly great cigars with great tobacco. Well, the exact opening date has not been announced yet.

The company is targeting early 2027. So, where did they make the first two Dominican cigars? The factory is not running yet. I don't know.

A Dominican factory of some sort. Interesting. I mean, it's not like they don't know everybody in the industry. True.

They could have it made anywhere they want. Right. They are Sans Estate. Sans Estate.

His real name is not Drew. It's a very good setting. Maybe it's his middle name. Sounds like it.

Doesn't matter. I don't go by Michael Ray. You should. No, I shouldn't.

Ray Estate. Ray Estates. Constella Group and Fox Knives announced Tanglizen, a new joint venture. Oh boy.

Now he's making knives. We gotta be careful. He's ran out of tobacco money. Now he's going after utility.

Oh my god. Allegedly. He's arming his people. Don't die on us.

I think he's poisoned me. I think this is it. This is it. There's a new name coming to the cigar accessory space.

Tag. Wow. Tag. T-A-G-L-I-E-N-Z-A.

Lenza. Taglenza. Taglenza? Taglenza.

Very good. I thought Ricky was getting up to look. Oh, I got to bring my knife from 13 Knives, too. What?

Got to plug that guy. Oh, yeah. My cutter. It's a joint venture announced by Luciano Morales, president of Constella, USA, and Gabrielle Fratta, president of Fox Knives.

Wow, there's a lot of accolades there. Taglinza will be both a brand and a distributor for Fox Knives cigar accessories in the Americas. Outside of the Americas, those products will continue to be sold under the Fox Knives name. As part of the launch of Taglinza, the products will now come with a lifetime warranty.

Oh, nice. And a three pack of Marlon Wayans cigars. " Right. Fox Knives is an Italian knife company that has made a variety of novel cutters, perhaps most notable, the 749.

Everybody's heard of the 749. Next year, the company will celebrate its 50th anniversary and make a 750. In a press release, the pair said that there is a simple, oh, the pair, now they're talking as a group, there's a simple conviction at the center of Taglenza that the accessory is not secondary to the ritual, it is part of the ritual, as the cut is the first decision that opens the experience and reveals the product, shaping the encounter, that's, this is complete Luciano bullshit stuff. Well, he owns it.

Allegiant. He likes the very flowery in the thing, the knife is part of the process, it cuts open the thing. Oh my god, I mean, go on. You would give me money.

How much money, how much money? The company is focusing on cigar cutters and related instruments designed for cigar enthusiasts who value craftsmanship, functionality, and enduring design. Cigar is never only a product, it is an encounter between time, intention, and human hands, said Mary Alice. in a press release.

The same can be said of a well-made cutting instrument with taglenza. We are now simply entering accessories. We are extending the philosophy. Wait, wasn't he making accessories with that leather guy?

I don't know. Yeah, he was making a cigar for the guy that made the leather cigar purses and stuff. And that didn't work out. He's no longer associated with that.

Oh, we wanted a partnership. We are creating objects that serve with ritual and intelligence, elegance, and performance. When something is made with it, this is very long. All right, so skip it.

I am. As for the name, the company says it evokes Essence del Taglito, the essence of the cut. All right, now it's time for the industry's favorite game. What's the score?

Sorry, he's still droning on. Oh, my Lord. I didn't realize it was. He's still going on.

Oh, here we go. All right, first cigar, June 22nd, 2016. Brooks Whittington Cigars, Dominican Republic. It's a Gurkha Cigar, the Gurkha Sniper, it comes in this really cool leather plastic box, like a gun case, Sniper, Sniper, somebody give me a number, now remember this is not your personal opinion, it is Brooke Whittington's opinion, oh okay, 65, 84.

5x52, is a Toro Extra, it's $12, case of 20, because it comes in a case, $240, came out in 2016, they smoked three of these puppies. Sixty-Five. Eighty-Four. Clue number one: rich, evolving flavor profile with earthy oak at the core, layered by dark chocolate, espresso, licorice, cinnamon, and flashes of raisin sweetness that kept the profile interesting.

Sixty-Five. Eighty-Five. Clue number two: Excellent draw on solid overall construction, with strong smoke output and strength built up that added body as the cigar progressed. Sixty-six.

Eighty-seven. Burn consistency and cigar softness were concerns. The overall spongy samples and multiple touch-ups point to construction issues, while the sweetness never fully developed into the standout note it hinted at early. Somebody didn't change the bands?

Seventy. Eighty-one. Final thought. This is the final thought, Phil.

Okay. Reading the review above, you might notice the liberal use of the adjectives such as slight, mild, and light used repeatedly throughout. The reason for this is simple. While the flavors of the Gurkha sniper were enjoyable, they were also extremely light, leading to a profile that's just not distinct enough to really make much more than a general positive impression.

Having said that, other than the somewhat fragile wrapper, the construction was quite nice for all three samples, and there was plenty of smoke production throughout. In the end, the Sniper is a decent enough cigar that really could use a more distinct project to put it in a major contention with other cigars in the same price range. Sniper. Sniper, by Gurka.

- 78. - 79. - You went the right way. - Ohhhh.

- 84. - Oh, I had it right. - Ohhhh. - 84.

- It worked. - Only one of them worked. - Ouch. - Now turn it off.

Turn it off. We're on fire. - That was the first number I pulled. - Yes.

- That's why I say I should just stick with my number. Take with my number. Take with your number. Yeah, but it's super light, there's no real taste.

How'd I get an 84? I kicked your ass. Not only did I win, but I had it right off the jump. Then I just did conservative to take the dub.

Yeah, you went way too low. Brooks doesn't normally go that low. 84, I guess we're gonna have to smoke this thing, huh? Sniper?

It's from 2016. 2016, you can't get these anymore. It's 10 years ago. Oh.

They find cigars and give them names, you can't find this anymore. Yeah. It's 10 years ago. Go smoke the ghosts.

All right, come back tomorrow where we talk about how Mikey beat up Coop on the show. We review developing palettes. See if there's a fight. That's it.

Anything else? What are the odds that he gets mad and leaves? And he leaves? Leaves the show.

I don't think he leaves. Turns it off. I think if he did anything, he'd probably not talk. Let's take a bet on this.

You think he would just not talk? I think he would leave. Why not talk? That just looks worse.

Do you think there is any comment made of anything of the podcast, of our podcast and/or Plastano by Coot? No, that's not how he does things. Now wait, it's a PCA review show. Are you gonna bring anything up about him unsubscribing?

You gonna ask him? Maybe, we'll see how it goes. I don't know. You don't have a plan?

No. So what, if he's nice, you're nice? Yeah. That's not fun for us.

I'm gonna are all the fans we want to see a scuffle fight fight fight fight fight I don't want to fight We're just start typing fight argue argue argue argue argue I don't want to fight this is your one chance to confront him I don't want to fight I don't want to fight you do you want to fight I don't want to fight you like to fight I'm not afraid of it you're an angry I'm comfortable with it you're an angry you're a very angry man I'm not angry this is your chance to unleash I don't need to fight he's on bed right now He's the coward of the county. He's shut and locked the door. This is it. This is where you fight the bad guy.

He's not gonna do it. I know he's not. That's why you have to start something. I had to provoke him.

Finish him. Cook dirt in his face. Finish him. I'm not doing that.

Call him a weasel. Finish him. I'm not that guy. You can be.

Call him a weasel. No. Palmer is ridiculous. I disagree with that.

Say something like, "You know what gets me? " Yeah, and when they wear wrong pants. Yeah, throw the pants in just for the hell of it. Yeah, they really know who it is.

They really know who you're talking about, Dave. I'm not indirect. I'm direct direct. Ask Sokka.

Sokka, what would you do if a media source unsubscribed from your press releases? Oh, that's perfect. " You can see that? I don't know, how do you track that?

Yeah. Or make it really awkward and ask-- Lafferty, see if anybody unsubscribed. All right. I don't care.

Or Fishstick. You can ask Fishstick. No Fishstick. Fishstick's very unconfrontational.

So is the Canadian. By the way, I don't like that he jumped forward. He's got to go back and listen to all the episodes. Hey Fishstick, if you were at the PCA, would you visit every cigar company and interview them?

Or would you just pick what you like? They don't do interviews at the show. They just walk around and say hi. Yeah.

Oh. They just log stuff in their head. It's not good for him. Which is smart.

It's very tiresome to go around and do all that stuff. And all that stuff. I don't know how those shows do it. Then you have to go back and edit everything.

Yeah. I mean, I still haven't done the Little Debbie's Exposed one. Right. And I gotta get on that.

You gotta get on that. It's tough. Right. So after you beat up Coop, you'll be all wound up.

I'm not beating up Coop. Come on, man. No, you gotta get James from Simply Stokes to beat up Coop. Nah, that's not fun.

Oh, you know what, Palmer? Invite him into the comments tonight. Invite James? Yeah.

He'll be there. You think so? I don't think he's there. Why not?
