ACHP Episode 559 Beee Aggressive

Episode Summary
Mike Palmer, Mike Szczepankewicz and "Triple G" Greg open episode 559 with shop talk about CHPod swag, the Patreon show (where they review the new Crowned Heads Moonflower Toro), and a listener-driven idea to auction off the custom masks made by fan David Hasselhoffman. That leads into an on-air correction session: after listener comments questioned how a national sales manager didn't know his own blends, the crew sets the record straight that their Sumatra release uses a double binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan tobacco — not Honduran — and they commit to sending Greg down to the RoMa Craft factory with Skip Martin and Alex to learn blending firsthand.
The middle of the show is classic Cigar Hustlers detour territory: a man suing Waffle House after being distracted by a strawberry shortcake waffle ad and tripping over an abnormally high curb, a Texas 18-wheeler crash that released roughly 400 beehives and millions of bees (and the beekeeping supply owner who brought bee suits to first responders), Alaska's cigar lounge legislation getting tangled up with a vape tax, a dead pregnant fin whale found stuck on a cruise ship's bulbous bow in Seward, Alaska, and Mikey's genuine obsession with installing an in-home observation beehive next to his non-functional nitro cold brew kegerator.
Cigar news covers two releases. First, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust's Sobremesa Tapa Negra — the same blend as Sobremesa Brulee but with a Nicaraguan sun-grown Maduro cap covering roughly the top inch, a two-tone technique Steve Saka says he first saw working with Lou Rodman in the late '90s and later shared with Joya de Nicaragua for the Cabaneta line. The guys debate why Saka made it, including the theory that he's showing Joya how to market its own idea now that Drew Estate no longer distributes the brand. Second, Cavalier Genève's Project Broadleaf Skywalker returns for 2026 (6x48, Connecticut Broadleaf over Mexican San Andrés with Honduran and Nicaraguan filler, ~$15.60, 200 boxes of 50 — double last year), with Wayfinder due in September and Cowrider in November, while Boar Tamer sits out.
The episode closes with a What's The Score round on Brooks Whittington-era Halfwheel reviewer Brian Burt's 2017 review of the Foundation Cigar Company Melanio event cigar — a Nicaraguan Corojo Maduro petit robusto praised for black pepper, cocoa, baking spice and smoky oak but dinged for fragile ash and an uneven burn. Greg takes the win at 90, plus Mikey announces a July 9 appearance at Creekside Tobacco in Ohio.

Welcome to a Cigar Hustler Podcast, where cigars are just the starting point. Join me, Mike Palmer, with Mike Szczepankewicz, and back today with us is Triple G. AOA. The actual one, not the puppet.
Right, we're still working on that puppet, though. As we dive into the latest cigar industry, news, sports, current events, business, and whatever crazy stories are making headlines. You're just gonna click all the way through my intro. We're establishing.
Just keep going. Whether you're a seasoned cigar smoker or just looking for entertaining conversation, expect honest opinions, plenty of laughs, more clicks, and a few unexpected detours along the way. On today's show, there's a real buzz in Texas. Boy, that Waffle House looks amazing.
Oh, boy. No one's ever said that. That's not true. A lot of Europeans feel that way.
Coffee does make you poop, apparently. Hey, lady, get out of the... Uh-oh. A.
sampler's out. I'm your father. And then, because we might be short on time, we have a double what's-the-score. Ooh.
But first, Mikey or Triple G, how do we get some of that CHPod swag? And tell me all about the Patreon show. Try it. Try it, Triple G.
Try it. I don't have a teleprompter. It should be impossible for me. He does it without a teleprompter.
You can do it. Come on, you can do it. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. 95. Watch me in my house all the time on live WebG. Watch my wife steal my food.
95. She's now listening to the podcast, by the way. I thought you were, so now she lives. I'm supposed to be different now because of that?
I'm just letting you know. Just making sure. She's decided she wants to pay attention to everything that we're saying. We need to mention her more?
Yeah. Is that what you're trying to say? Yeah. We need to mention her?
Steal your food. Okay. com for all your chpod swag, where if you buy one, you get the second one 40% off. Free shipping on $100 or more.
com, a Cigar Hustlers podcast, where today we are going to be reviewing Glaglou. Oh, the glaglou. I like the glaglou. The Crowned Heads Moonflower Toro.
Oh, that's the new one. That is the new one. That's the new one. Is it worth the shit?
You say he doesn't know anything about the industry. Yeah. Oh, look at you. You look just so vast with your knowledge.
I knew it was new. Incredible. That's because it came in. He just saw the invoice.
That's why. That is what I do. The invoices. This one's autofocus needs to be fixed.
com, Cigar Houses Podcast. Apparently, Mr. Palmer has a good topic for us to discuss today on the Patreon. Two.
Two. Two topics. Not one, but two. Some of the comments from yesterday's show.
I got a headache, rip my Bible. Do you? It's called a... Tumor.
It's a tumor. This is it. It's not a tumor. If I die on the show, big ratings.
Big ratings. Big ratings. You think so? Yeah.
I got to figure out how to release it. Who's going to unplug all this shit? Yeah. Let's just sit here like JW's liquor over there in the fridge.
At Epicure and Smokes 534, funny enough, Sock Puppet is the name of Bing Bong's new film. Oh, that's good. That's good, Shane. Nice.
Sock puppet. It's Epicure and Smoke, not Ruckus Unchained. Oh, sorry. Sorry.
Yeah. Still, maybe that's your aunt. I don't know. No.
No. Yeah, that is a good one. Sock Puppet. Sock Puppet.
Fill in the sock. Funny enough, that's where he's at today, he's filming the new movie Sock Puppet. Sock Puppet. @Michaelzcigarguy55 says, "If the masks are that nice, we could bid to buy Phil's mask after he is done wearing them.
Maybe it's signed by you guys. " Love the idea. Love it. Yeah, I don't think that that's a bad idea either.
" Right. So we'll see if we can make the math work. If we can make the math work, then... Do we have to return the new microphone, though?
No. No, but I think at this point, David Hoffman may have monetized this show faster than you guys did. - Very possible. - Very possible.
- Well, you know, here's the thing, man. Like, it's funny because I think really what kind of happens in business is in the way that I kind of look at things, if you're just a good person and there's an opportunity where you can make money with me, I'm in, right? So, you know, that wasn't David's thought, and it's not like he's going to make a ton of cash because of it, but like, hey, man, you're a good dude. You sent us these things just out of kindness, right?
" Sure, no, money's the byproduct, I get it, yeah. Yeah, and then all of a sudden, people are asking for it, because our last episode, I was like, "Listen, we've got to keep these things," right? Right, that's what you said yesterday. Yeah, but if there's a way to generate revenue, keep the fans happy, get them a piece of the show, right, and David can make a little bit of cash as well, I'm like, that sounds like a win-win-win.
Totally, absolutely. And that's how I like to do business, so... How long does it take him to make one mask? Any idea?
I don't think it takes him an extreme amount of time, maybe a couple hours. What if we put him on CHPod? Everybody can have one. Like, no, I don't think, then it loses...
That defeats the purpose. Yeah. You want it to smell like Phil. Yeah.
Oh, gross. Yeah. And realistically, what I would do is, you know, I would build like a bidding portion for it, right, on the site? Right.
Where it was actually auctioned off and then the auction, the auction price would start at whatever the cost was that David charges. Sure. So if there was just one bid, okay, we didn't make anything, but David got covered, right? He got paid for his time and he loves doing it.
So that works out well. And then if it goes higher than that, it goes higher than that. So I don't know. I love it.
I think that's a great idea. Well, I'm waiting for David to get back to me. So we'll see. We'll see what happens.
This is, it's really in its before even its infancy. It's just a concept right now. It's a zygote. It's a zygote.
Ruckus Unchained. No, headache there. Yeah, I do. I have a headache.
Oh, I got a headache. " Oh, Sharon! Sorry, the tumor was throbbing there for a minute. You missed your cue due to the pain.
Let me try that again. At Ruckus Unchained. Oh, hi, Sharon. There you go.
Thank you. Yeah, don't worry about my tumor. It's all over the show. He's gonna die in that chair.
He says, "How does the national sales manager not know the blends? You know, listen, mom, I appreciate your coverage on this and you're accurate. I don't know how he doesn't know the blends either, but I probe him from time to time. It's good to just kind of give a temperature check and see where he's at, and he failed it.
So, where do we go from here is the real question. And I think it's only up from this point. " Well, I did a little research. Okay.
Your personal interview at the PCA? Yeah. You said Sumatra had Honduran in it? Who said that?
Apparently, you did. Charlie interviewed you. Charlie didn't interview me. Yeah, he did.
He did not interview me at the... He talked to you about it because of the picture that he used is from the PCA. He did not interview me. Okay.
Well, the two press releases I put out said that it was Dominican and Nicaraguan, and whatever Charlie got his information from said it was Honduran. Tom said it was Honduran. Filler. Hey, Greg.
No? You can't ask you? There's not Honduran in that cigar. Can I ask you a question?
Sure. Which cigar of ours has a double binder? Boom. Uh-oh.
Our Sumatra has a double binder. He's in the planning of this. That is correct. That is correct.
Our Sumatra has a double binder. Now, he didn't do that blend, and he wasn't a part, essentially part of that. So that was intel that he got from me later on. Wasn't he at the factory?
No. No, I wasn't there for it. As a matter of fact, when that cigar originally launched, Catastrophic Failure, Mikey came back. He's like, hey, we're doing an LP.
I'm like, great. Love LPs. Lots of fun. Let's do it.
He's like, by the way, it's Sumatra. And I'm like, no, it's not. There's been like maybe two or three good Sumatras that I've smoked in my life. We're not going to make a Sumatra.
Well, it's already done. It's already in production. It got here and I smoked it. I'm like, this is really, really good.
This is not like most Sumatras that I've ever smoked. Yeah. Like, what did we do? How did we do it?
And part of the trick was the double binder. Correct. That was part of the trick. Part of the trick.
I mean, it wasn't even my trick. It was Alex's trick. Well, he's very good at it, you know? And to be fair, you know, Sumatra is so vast in its flavor profile that a lot of it does have that bitter taste.
However, there are some that don't have that bitterness. So you really got to do your research and have somebody, you got to trust the factory, you know? You got to trust the guy. Yeah, you got to know, you got to know who you're messing with, and the guy that you're messing with needs to be locked in, and the guy that we happen to be locked in with, his name is Skip Martin, and he has an abacus, he has an Excel sheet, he's got all kinds of crazy things.
Magic wand. Yeah, and he's very data-oriented, and he's all about the tobacco. Okay, well, so he got it right, so I got it right, you got it right, question mark. Question mark.
Question mark. He'll get better, Mom. I'm sorry. I have a list of all the blends if you want.
I'll send it to you. I would like to go to the tobacco school that everybody's been to and learn that you do do that because it changes the flavor of the Sumatra. Well, then you will have to go down there with either myself or my brother, and you will be doing this until 4 o'clock in the morning because it's always 4 o'clock in the morning, let's get Martin. Whatever it takes to get it down.
I told, that's what I said, I said, next trip you go down. Alright, yeah, we've discussed it on another one. Okay. Next trip, the two of you go down.
Because then it's just not something I wrote off the paper. Right. Yeah, we've got to level up his game. You've got to get better every single day.
Do we want to do this this year? Uh, I don't know. Do you guys want to, let's, is this happening right now? Do you want to do it?
I think that it would probably be best because obviously if you feel that you need that as a working tool, let's get it done. Yeah, the sooner the better, I mean, plus my passport expires next year, so I have to get a new one anyway. I checked it right after we did the episode where you mentioned it. Okay, I will start having communications with Alex and Skip, find out what timeline would be good for us to figure that out.
But, and apparently you and I are gonna go down there. All right, refresh your mic because it's popping. I think that's a great idea, honestly. I think that that would be really good for, especially for you, and it would be good for both of you, and I could use a break from the two of you, let's be honest.
Check, check, check, check. Is this mic working now? You guys are a lot. Break from the both of us.
You guys are a lot. He won't know how to do anything. He doesn't even see me. I hide in that office all day long and just figure out where we're gonna get the next $10,000 to pay the next bill.
That's not true. " Well, that's after I figure out that we need $10,000. " Yeah, I have an answer. Let me speak to my brother.
" And it's usually not $10,000. It's usually a significantly higher amount. It's usually a lot more money than that. Super true.
"Hey, no pressure here. " And no pressure, Palmer. By Friday, I need you to sell 85,000 cigarettes. Hey, great work on that last sale Last push Products well received Yeah, we're still shipping that order out By the way, we're a little shy More money Record numbers, not good enough Got it At Mark Palmer 570 says It'll be the taxis from Demolition Man And you know, he's right I just now figured that out I didn't figure it out before They kind of look close to that already The Tesla Gold, like, Automated Drivers, YMO stuff, everything, yeah, YMO's all been recalled, now Tesla's running around.
Yeah. I just want to get in a car accident and have it foam me then. Right, that's the foam part. Like demolition, man.
Right? Let's see what else we got here. At Mark Palmer 570 says, quote of the day, Elon is sharing the wealth. Yes.
Well, look, he is, though. He gave the people the shares of the corporation. I think that that counts. It's got to count as something with everybody.
Those guys are going to become millionaires. Now, I mean, he's a trillionaire, but still, I mean, that, that you don't think that that counts? You don't think that counts? What's after trillionaire?
Gazillionaire? I don't, I'll have to think about that. I mean, what's he looking for? Well, what's the next, what's he going to level up for now?
Quadrillionaire? Well, I know I like whatever the next level is, in order to get there, you're not going to do that in this lifetime. No, that's what they said about trillionaire. No, no, that was that was far definitely more obtainable than the multiple that's necessary to get to the next 0001.
We find out he's a robot. Which one? Who's the robot? Elon?
Elon. He's probably a robot. That's why the voice is slightly off the accent. Wasn't there like a rumor that like all these dudes were all like lizard people?
Wasn't that? Yeah, that's another one. That lady on the airplane yelling, "Can't you see him? " Scary.
Sounds pretty convincing. Very scary. I don't know. She sounds reputable.
Yeah, I believe her. I've never met someone before in my life. She's unmedicated now, she's fine. Now they tie her up and she drools on herself all day long.
They gave her a lobotomy. Time for my medicine. @DavidHasselhoffman says, "You think the Samsung fridge was talking shit to the Tesla If Tesla and the lady just got in the way, the robot was, the robot wars have started, I think. Yeah, very possible.
Very possible. You know, Samsung's like, well, I cool things, mofo. And Tesla's like, well, I drive people around. Yeah, well, I get to hang out here.
Well, guess what? And then, yeah. Robot wars. We have that at my house.
We have multiple Roombas, so they fight each other. Multiple Roombas? He's so rich. It's not that I'm rich, my wife fines them for like very, very inexpensive.
Yeah, whatever, you can cover any way you want. Honey, make the Roombas fight again for me please. Here's my sandwich, take a bite. Here's my sandwich.
May I have a drink of the cup? Let's share this cigar. Now make the Roombas fight for me. You think they're just different brands, there's like iRobot.
There's like iRobot. Yeah, of course. Yeah, the shark. Shark.
Shark dominates. Yeah. Killer shark. I was looking at one because, you know, I was looking in the market space for possibly falling for this one more time and repeating myself over and over again.
I don't know why I keep buying these stupid things. And the one I want is too much money, but like, I need the vacuum and mopper one, and it's still like a G. So, we have one. Yeah.
Well, you have several. Wait, wait, wait. It vacuums. It mops.
And it self-cleans. It has its own docking station and all that. It was $45. $45?
My head exploded when she told me when it arrived. I'm like, what is this? It's another Roomba. I'm like, why do we need another Roomba?
She's like, it was $45. Well, what's the brand? She finds it on this website that basically does bids on random things. So you just have to kind of watch the app.
Like she was about to buy one of those freezers that you can put a whole cow in. It was like $28. Is that where you have to place the bid and every bid is like a penny? Yeah, but she has, like at first I thought it was a scam, you know what I mean?
It kind of is. Well, there's no way that you can buy a Roomba that's $1,000 for $45, and then boop, it was delivered. Yeah, but how many bids did she place? I don't know, you'd have to speak to her.
750. No, but the bottom line is, it cost $45 American dollars. But per bid is like... No, no, I thought it was a scam too, like each one of your bids cost you like 50 cents or something like that.
Yeah. No, the total amount that she spent was $45. Oh, including the bids. Including the bids.
It was $45. Well, have I look for one from my friend there? I mean, have you guys got a list of random shit that you want? Alex, as long as you're listening, Michael would like a $45 Roomba, please.
Is it a Shark? It was a Shark, I think. The Shark brand. That's a Shark 2-in-1.
It's got mixed reviews, just for the record. I went down that rabbit hole. Well, that one fights the Roomba, and then there's the other one. What's the other brand?
The iRobot. iRobot. iRobot. Yeah, we got one of those, too.
Yeah, right. She may actually have one in the garage right now that she bought for a friend that the friend just hasn't picked it up yet. It's called iShabek? I have no idea.
It just sucks up nails and sodas. Yeah, pretty much. Nice. iChangeYourTire?
iChangeYourTire. Wow. And actually the iDoYourLaundry. CW said something not nice there, I'll skip that one.
And then he said, CW, CW also said, "As if Alaskans didn't already face depression due to long, dark winters, Now they can't enjoy a good cigar and fellow locals. Shame on you, Alaska politicians. They passed some sort of legislation I don't know about? They did.
They did. They most certainly did. But they didn't pass something. Right.
They were going to open up. It's one of those weird things where this cigar lounging was part of vape tax going up. And then the guy said, well, I mean, I'm for the lounges, but I'm just not for the taxation. Like, well, so then why are they on the same friggin piece of paper?
You know what I mean? It's all ridiculous. Paper's hard to find in Alaska. They have to put all they can on the same sheet.
Super rare. Super rare. Because of the polar bears. I'm pretty confident there are no polar bears in Alaska.
There are polar bears in Alaska. There are polar bears in Alaska. Now we know that you don't know what the hell you're talking about either. Now you don't listen to the show.
He doesn't listen. There aren't polar bears in Antarctica. There definitely aren't polar bears in Antarctica. Just the one, just the one.
That's actually how it's named. It's named not Polar Bear. That's what that translates to. That's what Antarctica means.
Yeah. No Polar Bears. No Polar Bears. That's what it means.
Yeah. Yes. Arctic region. Yeah.
Okay. So Canada, Greenland, Norway, Russia. They don't live in Antarctica. There you go.
See that? In Poland? Uh-huh. Greenland, Canada, Norway, Russia, Alaska.
Oh, I thought you said Poland. Yeah. No Poland. No.
No. Nope. Well, those people wouldn't know how to run away. So, it's good they're not there.
That's not nice. That's not nice. That's really hurtful, considering the fact that you don't know what cigar has a double binder, and it's Polish. The Sumatra does!
Well, that's great. But it's a question whether it's Honduran or Nicaraguan. It's not. That's what it says on Half Wheel.
I don't care. " Don't you read Half Wheel? Well, yeah. It's conflicting reports.
Well, if you had commonly said that what was read off of Half Wheel, I would have walked that back. But you didn't read it. You just kind of winged it. You don't even know.
Boom. Yeah, exactly. If you want to hear your comment read aloud on this show, comment below, and we may read it out loud. Like and subscribe wherever you're viewing and listening to the show, please.
More support. We're providing great edutainment, as you can tell. Greg has 75 Roombas. Palmer has no idea what's going on.
No idea. And then there's me. Angry all the time. Just surrounded by idiots.
Now that's not nice. Well, the bad part is he surrounds himself with them, so it's not like, you know. Nobody else will talk to me is the problem. There you go.
So here we are. So here we are. King of the idiots. King of the idiots.
Yes. I love that. That belongs on a shirt. Or a hat.
Shirt. I was looking at coffee mugs. I was trying to get that done. It's a little more complicated than I thought it would be.
Do we need another machine? Yes. Of course we do. Well, you need a printer, and then you need a mug.
you're gonna need a bigger room to keep all this stuff in at your house charles can do that i'm pretty sure i asked and what do you say no he can laser oh laser them there you go yeah laser laser yeah absolutely he can laser ceramics and metal well he did all of my metal cups he can laser ceramics oh yeah actually because i'm having him do one for a customer he did a practice run on a ceramic ashtray that he had already and he's like this is how it turned out i'm like perfect We'll do it for the customer. Do you have regular glasses at your house now that you have a wife? No. What do you mean?
You used to just have, like, jelly jars. Well, all I had was jars because I used to eat a lot of pickles, and pickles were buy one, get one free, so it made sense to then convert them to the glasses. Right, but now that you have a wife, do you have regular glasses now? I mean, there are some.
Not like a set? No. Just a random? Yes.
Like, she does want to drink her wine when she drinks wine out of a pickle jar? My wife is very similar to me. Like, we have random glasses in our cabinet. This is in our cabinet.
Not everything matches. That's the way it is. I'm just curious. I just thought of that all of a sudden.
Phil's next movie, I Have a Pickle Problem. I have a pickle problem. There's a line of shirts just from the movie titles. Just the movie titles.
A zombie is going like this and it's just dead inside me. Dead inside me was the best. He's just laying around a bunch of empty pickle jars, kind of slumped over and exhausted. One big one in his hand.
Covered in some weird suspicious white goo. Right. Could be ranch, could be something else. Ranch, very popular right now.
Ranch is very popular. Very in right now. Travel size, soon to come in travel size. Oh, God.
Okay. All right, well. Write the news. Good.
A man has filed a lawsuit against Waffle House after he reportedly became distracted by a window ad featuring its limited edition strawberry shortcake waffles and stumbled over an abnormally high curb and fell face down in My God, this world. Only in America. The suit claims Waffle House prioritized marketing and visual appeal over pedestrian safety. So the advertisement did its job.
Yes. Yes. Yes. It did its job.
By putting ads in the windows that were completely unnecessary, but you didn't need to do that. He was going in anyway, apparently. Intended to attract and hold the attention of patrons approaching on foot. Mr.
Bowles feels strongly that Waffle House was He was negligent and is eager to have his day in court to prove it. Did he order one of those, whatever it was, after he stumbled his way into the Waffle Office? I think after he hit his face, I think there was some type of medical attention. He couldn't resist the advertising.
The bright colors was way too much for him. I must buy this. The strawberry shortcake, particularly. Oh my god.
No, but they didn't cover the waffle? You know what I'm saying? Like, oh man, it's hard to hear that. Have this waffle on us.
Yeah, let's help this man up and give him a strawberry shortcake waffle. Yeah. He wants waffles for a lifetime. What attorney in their right mind would take this on, is the real question?
" This goes away with like 15,000. They just give him 15,000 to take a walk. They think it's all he's gonna want? Yeah.
It's pain and suffering. Here's 15,000. We're not going to court. " How much more?
I mean, the dude tripped. Like, it's his fault. You say it so simply, the dude tripped. The dude tripped.
It was an abnormally large curb. Like what, like a barricade? Like a highway barricade? Is that what we're talking about?
Because that's an abnormally large curb, right? I like how they describe it, an abnormally large curb. Are you going to sue the city for making an abnormally large curb? Right, that's where you go next.
Well, it was probably on private property, so... Oh, you sue the guy who owns the property that the Waffle House is on. Yeah, and there's insurance policies for that, that's fine. But again, it's not worth more than like 15 dimes.
I would like a follow-up to this story. I want to know where it ends up. For large curb? Follow-up is my favorite part of the show, by the way, because it's like you get to find out exactly what happened.
Yeah, I didn't even know that was part of the show. When we do that, can we, can I be a guest on that show? I'd like to know more about the guy that tripped over the curb. I'll try to give that.
All right, I appreciate it. We can't guarantee that, but maybe. Right. It depends on if they covered it.
Like the other day, we solved the problem of the two white couples with the Indian baby. We know how that worked out. Yeah. Oh, that's, that's not good.
No, it was at a, uh, one of those clinics where they, yeah, where they stir you up and shoot the, shoot the baby goo inside Yeah. Oh my. They had an Indian baby. They had the wrong semen and the wrong egg.
Oh wow. So they got a baby that's not linked to either one of them. So this is really bad. It's local, by the way.
It happened in Longwood. It's local in Orlando. Well, Florida, of course. But Longwood, more specific.
That's close to my house. Yeah. So specifically, don't go there. So when you get impregnated, the mother's own DNA is actually affected by the child that she's bearing.
Right. They mix a little. Correct. But if they didn't pick those people, she now has a little bit of those people as she is.
Right. So like if one of them was an Inkaboo. Oh wow, I didn't know that. Yeah, that's why you don't have sex with stupid people.
You wind up being dumber if you get pregnant, right? Really? Yeah. So like, she could actually be different for the rest of her life because they didn't get to, wow.
They kept the baby. They found out who the real parents were, but they decided to keep the baby. Good looking kid? Yeah, but I mean, you can obviously tell it doesn't belong to either one.
I'm going to tell you this, I mean, you know, Indian baby, that baby's already smart, you know what I mean? Yeah, no doubt. Oh yeah, they can do their taxes and stuff. They're very good at negotiating, I'll tell you that much, very good at negotiating.
They end up owning some type of convenience store probably. Yeah, have you met Rocky Patel? I mean, come on, what are we doing here? He's in the cigar industry for you people, in case you're wondering, he's a big name, big deal.
That name sounds familiar. Have you heard of him? I, I, I, why does that name sound familiar? Yeah, he's, um, because...
Did you see what I did there? He's a commentator on How 'Bout That Cigar, have you heard of How 'Bout That Cigar? How 'Bout That Cigar? They're not here anymore.
Yeah, they no longer exist. We mismatched. They closed. They're done.
Okay, all right, next. A Texas neighborhood was placed on lockdown. An 18-wheeler carrying up to two million honeybees. Uh-oh.
Overturned, unleashing a massive swarm across the area. This is bad. This is really bad. The crash happened Sunday, June 21st when the commercial truck carrying 406 hives lost control and flipped onto a ditch in somewhere in an unincorporated community in Orange County near the Louisiana border.
Each hive had between 6,000 and 8,000 bees. The photo looks like the cartoon where you see the giant black cloud. Oh, wow. There.
Everywhere. The impact ruptured the hives prompting local emergency officials to advise residents near Colony Drive to remain indoors and seal their windows as millions of agitated bees flooded the air. Wow. Special emergency crews and area beekeepers rushed to the scene in a coordinated effort to contain the insects and clear the roadway.
Like who do you call for that, right, gather up as many beekeepers as possible, and start to rally up the bees. They hit an alarm, and you go, bzzz, bzzz. That's it, look, the giant bee in the sky. Gather the beekeepers.
You hire, you get Jason Statham out there, that's what you do. He did make that movie. That was actually a pretty good film. He's a beekeeper.
It was terrible. I enjoyed it. Oh my god, my buddy recommended that movie. " Yeah, that was a terrible movie.
" The guy just wanted to end his life of violence and just keep bees for the rest of his life. No, the secret organization were called the Beekeepers. Yeah, that's what they were called. That's what they were called, so he sort of fell into the business afterwards.
" Yeah, I've been killing people for most of my life, might as well just keep bees. Yeah, gotta protect this hive. And protect this one black lady against cyber calls. The Cosby mom.
Oh, that's right, it was the Cosby mom. Yeah. It's like she don't have enough problems. Right?
You know what I mean? She's not getting any of that Jell-O pudding money. Yeah. They've done severed ties.
Oh, boy. Yeah, that's true, man, you know. She keeps the lid over her cup whenever she goes out so nobody can put anything in it. She found herself comatose from time to time during the movie, woke up in strange places.
She can't help it now. After all the years, she just covers everything. Woke up, can't find her underwear. Yeah.
Everything's blurry. What happened? I don't know what happened. Oh, gosh.
Yeah, it's more that Jell-O pudding. Christy Ray of Queen Bee Supply, a local business, was contacted by the Orange County Emergency, so that's who do you call Christy Ray at Queen Bee, by the Orange County Emergency Service District to bring protective gear to the scene. We have a lot of bees. Bring all the bee suits you have.
There's only two that they keep. It's her and her son that keep the bees. It's not like we've got a big stockpile of these things. Thank God we have 30,000 of these.
We're on our way. I knew they'd come in handy. Ray provided bee suits to first responders who were otherwise unequipped to approach the wreckage. You think?
What do we do? There's a man in there. I ain't going over there. You think she hit him with the bill?
I would totally hit him with the bill. Well, you figure the transportation company owes somebody a lot of money. Yeah, but I would like 5X that. You know what I mean?
I mean, to abuse the government costs like everybody else does, like, oh, you wanted the bee suit? That's $7,000. Per hour rental. Right.
Rental. Yeah, I expect these back in prime condition. Exactly. No holes.
Yeah. Footage recorded by Ray showed first responders and beekeepers working through swarming bees to salvage the remaining colonies and right the vehicle. What we don't know, authorities have not yet released the condition of the truck driver or reports how many things him or the first responders That's how the neighbors and neighbors sustained during the recovery operation. It was six million bees.
Was that the number? Five million? I think it was, hold on, go back to the beginning. Who okays this?
Yeah, like why are you moving six million bees? Like, don't you like set the bees up and where they are, that's where they're gonna live? Then you just take the honey? Hey, we really need to transport...
60 and 80,000 bees. Oh, okay. 60 to 80,000. That's still a lot of bees.
Yeah. Where's the line? Now there's gonna be new regulations stating how many bees you can transport at a time. transport at a time.
How about why are you moving bees? Well, they move bees all the time to different areas. You can like rent them to, you can rent the bees. You can rent, you can rent the hives.
Yeah. It's good. They put them near like your orange groves or your vegetable gardens or your farm. And then they go in and pollinate your plants.
See, he was a farmer. That's why he knows that. No, I don't know why I know that. I didn't grow, I had animals.
I got news for you. It still That all might not be true. That's true. You know what I mean?
Look it up. We have to, I mean... Rent a bee. Hang on.
Well, here's what happens. Do they move beehives? What happens is we just kind of blindly believe him and say, oh, okay, that sounds good. And then someone who listens to the show will say, hey, that is not true.
There are no polar bears in Antarctica. And then we're like, oh, shit. Okay. The trick is to say with conviction.
Yeah, exactly. You get to sound confident. Yeah. That's right.
It's all I can know what you're talking about. You know, what's funny is I've been looking at beehives. Really? Yeah.
We should ask Alex if she can buy them on the bid thing so you can get them at a discount. I don't think a discount bee thing is really what you want. He wants the one you put inside the house. Wait, what?
Why would you want them in the house? This is so cool. Have you seen this? You haven't seen that?
That's a new thing. This is so badass. What would you do with the bees in the house? So what you do is it has like a tube that goes in and out of the house and it's a hive and it looks like a hexagon or something.
Yeah, hexagon. That's what it is. And you can see the bees there. And then you can get honey directly from it.
- Oh, okay. - It's wild. - Okay. - Listen, I don't wanna hear shit from you, tortoise owner.
What the fuck is the purpose of a tortoise? - I don't own a tortoise, my wife does, first of all. - It's the same thing, you're in the same house. - Second of all, Big Sam has bees at his house, his kid sells the honey.
You just send him a text message, he brings the jar, they drop it off at the shop. You can have unlimited honey delivered. - Do we get a piece of that? - No, no, I buy honey off of him because he does it here in Deltona.
Oh, well, we're going to virtually integrate. I'd like to sell you some of my honey. He's going to have honey, isn't he? That's fine.
$40 a cup. Did your wife make the special medicine out of the honey? I saw that this morning. No.
What medicine do you make out of honey? It's honey, turmeric, black pepper, and there's one other ingredient. I don't remember what the other one is. I suppose if you take a teaspoon of it a day, it helps for inflammation, it helps if you're getting sick.
Doesn't honey just help with inflammation? Well, it probably does. Why do you have to add all the other shit? Well, because the other stuff does everything.
The problem is though that, here's the issue, the entire world has been convinced that inflammation is bad. Inflammation isn't good. Inflammation isn't bad. Inflammation is just inflammation.
The body inflames at times of stress. Like if I work out, I'm creating inflammation. The last thing I want to do is not, is put stuff in my body to not create inflammation. That's true.
He's constantly swollen. What if I'm not working out and I have inflammation? That could be an underlying issue, 100%. But that's my point.
It could go either way. It's just inflammation. It's just inflammation. You don't need the bee honey.
You can just be inflamed. I still feel like I need the bee honey. You just want to see them go in and out of the houses. How badass is that?
Are you going to drill a hole in the side of your house? Yeah, it's what you have to drill a hole. And it's just clear, flexi tube. I get it.
And then you see them all crawling... Most people they call like, you know, bug people when they have bees in their house to go get rid of the nest. Well, who was on the show when we were talking about that? Was it Law?
I don't know. Somebody... Oh, maybe we were talking about it upstairs. The problem is they might accidentally make a second queen and she might start a new hive like in your attic.
Yeah, right. Like, it just seems like a bad idea. Yeah, to bring them that close and then hope they don't make another one. It's a venomous insect.
It's venomous? Yeah, bro, their stinger has venom in it. Their stinger has venom? Yeah.
Yeah, that's why it hurts. That's why if you get enough of them, you can die. That's true, too. Yeah.
You didn't see micro? Do bees have venom? Oh, my God. He doesn't believe that.
They die after they sting you, too. Ask them that. Yes, bees have venom. Okay, great.
And they die after they sting you. Yeah, that's why it's called-- Well, not all of them, there are some that die. They also die after having sex, I thought, too. That's why they're called honey nut Cheerios.
That's a serial B. Serious. I don't think they die after sex. Well, everyone I ever fuck died.
No, Greg, they were already dead. That's the problem. He chokes them and they want to die. Do bees die after having sex?
They like it. The average, oh, God. See, drones usually die upon mating. They die after sex.
Wow. Don't reward them with mating then. Tell them to get back to work. Get back to work.
Yeah. No, no. Get back. No, no.
You mate, you're gonna die. You need to make more. Honey. I just want to live one time.
You know what I mean? Wow. Mm-hmm. Wow.
That went off on a tangent. Yeah. We were talking, his kids are a little rough in the house. What if they throw a ball and knock the hive off the wall?
Yeah, it would be in that room. That's the problem. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's awesome.
The Beehive constantly. So that when that happens, we can watch the chaos. Watch the, ah! Everybody's running around swatting.
They're loose! The weapon just running around, barking at everybody. Trying to eat them. He gets stung, too.
Trying to eat them. He gets stung, too. Well, there's also a little one that you can put outside and it has like a spigot. That might be better for you.
I don't know. This is where I'm at right now. I don't know what's going on with me, but this is where I'm at. Your backyard's not really big enough.
It wouldn't be out back. It would be on the side of the house. I need a beehive in my kitchen. I thought that would be cool.
I thought that would be cool. We can put the honey in the coffee right there and tea and just a little. I don't know, guys. I don't know.
It's not like I've got 7,000 things going on and I'm still thinking about other shit I can do. Did you ever get that coffee cold brew kegerator thing up and running? No, I needed too many pieces. I couldn't figure it out.
Oh. Yeah. Maybe we could put the beehive in that thing. No.
Oh, that'd be a great idea. No, no. What I need is a person to come over and fix that and then just maintain it. That's what I do.
And then pour the coffee for me when I need the coffee. No, no, my wife pours the coffee for me. My wife pours the coffee. Don't be ridiculous.
If anyone would like to fulfill Michael's service contract for his kegerator coffee maker... And Beehive. And Beehive Combo, reach out to the shop at 829 Deltona Port. Nitro Cold Brew.
Oh, Nitro Cold Brew with honey. This segment sponsored by... Mikey's Cold Brew. That would be whatever the company is that builds it and sends it up in my house.
Oh, my God. I was going to do it for another shirt. Okay. All right, moving on.
All right, on Monday morning, Walter walked into the insurance office knowing it would be his last day. Walter? Like to live? No, it was the last day of the insurance company.
Oh, I see. It's all about the death with you, isn't it? It's all about the death. Nobody else knew he was going to quit.
For three years... Until he brought the shotgun in. He had worked in the same gray cubicle surrounded by people he couldn't stand. The claims team mocked him.
The sales reps stole his clients. His manager smiled to his face and blamed him for every bad review. Walter never fit in. Instead of giving notice, he decided to leave...
Hold on. Stop right there. Stop right there. Do you think that Walter is actually Palmer?
And he's about to lose. All you're going to see is him just stand off and walk out. The two idiot brothers had no idea I was quitting today. There's some type of firearm behind the chair.
You know what I mean? Like, and it's over for us. It's done. He's reaching.
He's reaching. He's reaching. It's a remote. It's just a remote.
It's just a remote for the teleprompter. That's Walter. Okay, Walter. So go ahead, Walter.
I mean Mike. At 8:30, he brewed the usual office coffee. , phones were ringing, printers were humming, and everyone was pretending to care about deductibles. By 9:17, the first agent jumped from his chair.
"I need the restroom," he gasped. He put laxative in the coffee. So did everyone else. Within minutes, the office was in chaos.
" Motherfucker took my stapler. He took my stapler. He took my stapler. He took my stapler.
Burn it down, baby. Burn it down. " But he never made it to the elevator. Security reviewed the camera footage, and now Walter was escorted out with handcuffs, and he needs a lawyer.
Yeah, he definitely needs a lawyer. Maybe get the Waffle House guy's attorney. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?
Oh, maybe. The guy will take any case. Get a discount. Hmm.
So where'd this happen, Mr. Palmer, as you told us? I was sent this story and I added it on the end because we needed time. We needed time.
And that's how we operate. That's how we operate. We still deliver a full hour. Figure that out.
Consistently. I mean, I would say 45 minutes to an hour, every weekday, we still deliver. Whether we can't figure it out or not, we still get there. Tell me how you do that.
That's incredible. right look at him drinking that water yep sorry i had to get a drink i didn't move a table over here meanwhile these other guys are trying to build they do one episode it's three hours long or two hours or whatever and it's whatever that is too much like i would imagine there's like a drop-off rate after a certain amount of time hour hours the sweet spot 45 minutes to an hour yeah i actually think it's probably less it might be 30 minutes could be yeah after that people are turning it off they're losing interest they're finding other things to do i think potentially if you're a new listener and you look at something and it's only 30 minutes, you're like, all right, I'm in. At an hour, you're like, I don't know. Commitment.
But at three and a half, four hours, you're going, oh, I don't have the time. Screw that. What are they going to talk about? Why can't I get new listeners?
I don't know, because they don't want to commit the entire fucking day to your show. That's why. And if you didn't do it four hours, you could do four episodes a week at an hour. There's no way because it's one topic that they talk about for four hours.
Yeah, I don't know I don't know how they do that either. I mean, we've already had three and a half topics. Some tapas, some tapas. And half of one is Greg likes to kill people for sex.
Bees are venomous. Bees are venomous, and they die after they mate. The edge of attainment. Honey in my brother's kitchen.
Honey in Greg. Coffee maker still doesn't work. What was the pickle movie? Pickle Problems.
Pickle Problems or something like that. Right, we're promoting a new movie. Yeah. Wow.
Okay, moving on. All right. On Friday, June 19th, a cruise ship arrived at the dock in Seaward, Alaska. What was the problem with the ship?
Polar bears? No polar bears. Oh, there are polar bears. They're in Alaska, I'm sorry.
I love it, he almost said no, there's no polar bears in Alaska. It was the Seaward part that threw me off. What was wrong with the ship? It's gotta be something ridiculous.
Somebody sick won't do it. There has to be like a... I'm going to say there is a loose animal on the ship. A dead 61-foot adult female fin whale on top of the ship's bulbous bow, which is that big piece that sticks out in the front.
Yeah. A local company towed the whale to a nearby beach for an animal autopsy. They found out that the cruise ship hit the whale. That happens.
And killed it. And it got stuck on the front end. Hmm. Autopsy says you ran this one over.
Yep. It's dead. He collaborated with the Alaska Sea Life Center and Alaska Veterinary Pathology Service to perform an autopsy on the whale over the weekend to determine the cause of death. The examination revealed that the whale was pregnant, freshly dead, and in good nutritional condition with plenty of blubber and muscle.
The baby was determined to be Indian. Very good, a callback. Very nice. The mother had no genetic code to the baby whale.
A little brown whale. A little brown whale. A little brown whale. It was a humpback inside of the-- A fin whale.
A fin whale. I don't know what a fin whale is, but-- Finding showed blunt force trauma to the jaw, spine, and ribs. So they hit it three times. Back up.
God, this thing is stuck. Consistent with a vessel strike, the official cause of death is pending-- Pending what? Shending what? Further, uh, historological and diagnostic testing of the samples.
They've got to recreate the accident with a fake whale to figure out how it happened. Stunt whale, stunt whale. Yeah, send in the stunt whale. Uh, which can take months to complete.
There you go, you gotta do it many times. Thousands of dollars. Many times, we gotta do this. Hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A month. We're not quite sure what hit the whale at this point. Yeah. Could have been anything.
Could have been anything. A lot of stuff out in the ocean. It wasn't the ship it was stuck to. We're going to keep looking into this.
I'll follow this story for you, too. Okay, thank you. I appreciate that. Additionally, the law enforcement investigation is ongoing, so now they've called the law in.
Of course. Shiny laws on the scene. Where's the captain? We need to interview the captain.
Did you not see the whale? It's a big whale. Wow. Plans are currently underway to arrange for the whale carcass to be towed out to sea as soon as possible.
We're expected to sink and nourish a wide variety of deep sea marine life. All right, you're at 45. Let's go. Let's give me some cigar news.
I heard you have a video. Oh, I do. Oh, a video. It's not cigar-related, but I do have a video.
Oh, but we're at 45. So, you want me to scrub it till tomorrow? You want to save it till tomorrow? Yeah, that's fine.
All right, save it till tomorrow. Okay, we'll have a video for you tomorrow. It's a good video. Cigar news, Sober Mesa Tapa Negra on the way to stores.
Ooh. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust has shipped a new release, well, kinda, That will look very familiar to fans of the Hoya de Nicaragua Cabaneta line. The Sober Mesa Tapa Negra is made with the same blend as Dunbarton's regular Sober Mesa Brulé line, meaning it uses an Ecuadorian, Connecticut seed wrapper, blah, blah, blah, Mexican something, Nicaragua something, Pueblo, all sorts of stuff. It's so informative, it's got some stuff in it, blah, blah, blah, blah, he's a cigar!
We finally get to Cigar News, and he breaks down the blend. Well, guys, this is the good part. However, the top of the cigar, the cap, and about an inch or so more is what he's changed. It's Maduro.
Features a Nicaraguan sun-grown wrapper cap. Sun-grown, okay. Yeah. So, the cigar is exactly the same as another cigar, so we changed the cap.
Well, it's two-tone. The cap is one wrapper, the rest of the body of the cigar is... Does that change the flavor enough? Just a little, I mean, because if you cut it, you're cutting the majority of the cap off.
No, no, no. It goes all the way down to the band, if it's anything like the Hoya that you were describing. Oh, that two-tone Hoya. It's a two-tone cigar.
Oh, I wasn't picturing that. I was picturing they're just a little cat bunny. No, no, not just a little cat, not a little yarmulke, the whole... Yeah, the little yarmulke.
I like the yarmulke. The head of the cigar, yeah. Oh, that makes more sense, because they say an inch. Yeah.
Yeah. What did Sanka say? This is the worst cigar I've ever made, but it's gonna be great because you guys are gonna like it, and I hate making cigars, but I make good cigars, kinda, sort of. Is that what he said?
What is that? It's like he's in the room. This is a technique I first became exposed to when I worked with Lou Rotman in the late 90s with a brand called La Especiun, said Steve Saka, founder of Dunbart Tobacco Trust, on a Facebook page. I then shared the idea with my factory partners at Hoya de Nicaragua, and they created the Cabaneta line, which I love about this technique, is how it affects the smoking experience.
The cigar's smoke remains creamy and smooth, but the spicy Nicaragua and sun-grown Kappa being in contact with your palate adds a great pepper note. Mm-hmm. OK, so why do you think he made this cigar? He's out of ideas.
I don't think that's the case, but that's funny. They had enough tobacco for everything except the cap. I don't think that either, but that's good. That's good.
That's good. Those are both good. I'll take both of those. Could be either one of those or maybe a combination of the two.
Yeah, that's very possible. You know, I don't know what else to do. Oh, but we're out of cap material. Huh.
What do you got? There's sun-grown stuff laying around over here. We got that? Put that on there.
Perfect. Put it on. Remember I told you guys about that years ago? Wink, wink.
Remember? Wink, wink, wink years ago? What do you think, Greg? Why do you think you did it?
I don't know. I mean, the Cabanetta was a good cigar. Yeah, it was. It did well.
Yeah. Why not do something similar that was successful? Sure. Yeah, I mean, that tracks.
The packaging still has the, um, uh, the tube, the wood tube on it. Yeah. So you can't really tell that that's what it is, you would think, because I remember the Hoya, you could see it, it was sort of made part of the presentation. It's got a, it's got a, it's in a tube?
Packaging has a wood tube on it? No, it has the cedar sleeve on it. Oh, okay, so you can't see the body of the cigar is what you're saying. You can't see that it's two different colors.
Right. All you see is the little one inch at the top. Okay. You can't see the rest of the cigar.
Oh, so people open it and they feel like they got bamboozled, is what you're saying? Well, it could be, I guess. I mean, if you don't know, like, hey, what's the deal with this? You run out of tobacco?
Or they remove the Spanish cedar sleeve and they go, "Oh, look at that. " Good. It could go either way, I guess. " I thought it was a darker cigar.
Right. I thought this was a dark cigar. I've been bamboozled. It's only dark halfway.
Right. Look at this. Look at this. I lied to.
You wanna know why I think he's doing it? Sure. Why don't you think he's doing it, Michael? Thank you for asking me.
I'll tell you my suggestion. I think that he's doing it because he's showing Hoya that, hey, I can 5X your sale on the same product that you're making. I can make it better and I can build a market for it. Because Hoya is a brand that you don't see around anymore.
No. You know what I mean? I don't see it much. And it's not because they have bad tobacco.
No. You know what I mean? They have good tobacco. It's marketing issues.
Yeah. And you got the guy that's great at marketing. I think he's like, check this out. I hold my beer.
And he goes and he crushes with this brand, he goes and crushes with his product. You know, we got a bunch of these two-tone cigars sitting around, Steve, what do you think you can do with that? No, I think he said, hey, here's the blend, make the same thing like this, just change the top of it differently, so it looks exactly like yours, and I'll show you how to sell cigars. I mean, that's a great perspective, but you have to remember that cigar used to be distributed by Drew Estate, who are great at marketing, and they are far larger than Steve Saka right now.
But they're no longer distributed by Drew Saka. Correct, they're not, not anymore. But my point is, why wasn't it that successful with DE distributing the product? I think it had its day in the sun.
For sure. You know what? And here, I'll tell you why. Because no matter who you are, no matter what brand you're representing, the reality is, you're going to focus on your brand first, right?
I mean, we openly say that to even the people who partner with us on Poshik, right? Like, listen, we will present your product and we will help distribute it and sell it. You need to be the face. Sure, we are not a marketing firm, is what I say.
Right, and the reality is that that's a similar process when it came to Drew taking on anything else. Drew Estate isn't going to focus on Hoya sales above Drew Estate sales, it doesn't even make sense. Right. So, you know, they obviously went on their own, they thought that they could do it better or maybe they had no choice.
I don't know that story, but either way, they need to figure out that marketing cog and now it's worse than what it was. Not only are they out on their own, but now they're kind of starting back at square one, the momentum that it had is gone. True. Right?
And I think part of that's probably because of catalog purchases and all these other discounts and this other stuff. I mean, yeah, there's been a lot of that that didn't that probably didn't help the brand, you know, but I mean, I saw people still buy the Oliva soccer ball. You're all a bunch of idiots. I don't know what you were thinking, but, you know, they're like, hey, you know, you don't like the soccer ball.
No, I don't like the fact that the brand isn't protected and that they de-discount on a specific website that they own. Gotcha. It makes no sense to me. So why would a retailer go out and say, "You know what?
" Like, "What? " That's stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Okay. So, I mean, that's my take on things. " Hmm. Just flexing?
Okay. Well, I mean, where does it go after that? Does he, I mean, does Hoya... But what if Hoya falls under his fold?
Right? Like, hey, I can represent the brand. Steve Sakas, Hoya De Nicaragua. I mean, maybe.
I don't know. This is me to spitballing things. I like them so much, I bought the company. Well, yeah.
Maybe. The oldest tobacco, the oldest factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. Was the green one the last Hoya that came out? I don't know.
I don't know. Joey's running that right now. Doesn't Tobacology distribute for them? No, he buys...
He used to. I don't know. I thought he was. No, he does Fratello, I know that.
Oh, yeah, maybe it's just Fratello. He just bought a lot of that green one. Yeah. I think that was when it was tied with Drew, though.
Ah. Okay, moving on. Who now, apparently, name is Sans. " I'm like, wait a second.
Right, I saw that, too. Wait a second. Which one is it? Right, make up your mind.
Do you mind? Yeah. What is your name, sir? Well, I think on, uh, when he, when he reps Drew Estate, he sends him Jonathan Drew.
Do you see too, if you're a rep and you go down to call on him, he takes your picture and says you're a great person? Really? Yeah. He did that with Andre.
He said he was a great person? Yeah, they did this nice little photo shoot and he said what a good rep he was or something. Is it true? Is it true?
Is he a great person? I like him. I don't know if he's great. He's just okay?
I haven't seen him lately. I don't know. I haven't seen him since he came out with that cigar with the rainbow, uh, Font Name. Rainbow Frog?
Font. Font. Name. And he gave us the hats, the bad baseball hats, where you put it on and the top sort of scrunches down.
Are you talking about Adrian and Cigar Culture? Yeah, Adrian. Because you said Andre for like the entire time. I was so close.
You weren't even remotely close, because it had an A? Had an A. Andre. Andre, Adrian.
Very close. Adrian Acosta? Yeah. I think I can remember Adrian because it's my wife.
This is the type of thing you're talking about. She's the only Adrian I know. - This is the type of thing I'm talking about. - We should just continue to talk while he talks.
- I can talk low here, and they don't have-- - Back and forth bantering about nothingness. - They don't have headphones on. - Complaining about us. - Can you believe the shit that I gotta deal with?
- I can still hear you even though you think I can't 'cause I don't have headphones on. - Next limited edition SBI. - I can still hear you. - Surrounded by idiots.
- It'll be another cigar they make I don't find out about until the show's up here. - It's gonna be a cheroot. - Oh my God. We do need to, we need to make that.
How do you not make Surrounded By Idiots? A Cortico, just make it a little. Oh my god. Comes in a three pack.
Have it be a horrible cigar. Cortico, it's called Cortico. You don't blend it, you just give them the three pieces. Have it be made out of one tobacco.
Just one. That's an idiot part. Surrounded by idiots. It's just a wrapper, nothing's inside of it.
Do the newspaper thing, put newspaper on the inside. The Salesforce, Pojic Scars. Okay, all right, next story, 54 minutes. You want to jump?
Well, you can jump, there's two more stories. Give me one, go, let's go, we've covered one so far. Yeah, but it was a good one, it was a good one. Okay, come on, keep going.
Well, come on, this is for Brent's kids. He doesn't like our show. This is for Brent's kids. " They go, "Oh, yeah?
'" No one knows what it's about. And he said, "I said yes to all three," and the kid just reached up and turned it off. Cavalier, Genevieve's Project Broadleaf Skywalker returns for 2026. This week, Cavalier is shipping the first of three planned 2026 versions of the Project Broadleaf series.
All four cigars, Broadleaf Wayfinders, is offered in two Vitolas, which were released last year. They have come back for 2026 with more details, the same as the 2025 releases. That includes the name, packaging, blend, and Vitolas. Everything's the same.
Project Broadleaf Skywalkers are 6x48 that uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a Mexican San Andres binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. Is an MSRP of? Greg? $16.
I think it's less. I think it's like $12. 60. Son of a bitch.
Greg wins. Production is limited to 200 boxes of 50 cigars, double what was released last year. It sold really well. Let's make twice as many.
Broadleaf Wayfinder is due out in September, and Cowrider is expected to ship in November. Cowrider? Cowrider. C-O-W-R-I-D-E-R.
They ride the cow. That's where they ride the cows. Where does that happen? I don't know, I expect a ship in November.
Did you own a cow? He's talking to you, I've never owned a cow. Did I what? Did you own a cow?
He had a cow, he was a farmer. I had two cows, I had a steer and a cow. He was a farmer. Did you ever ride the cow?
No. So you're not a cow rider? I am not a cow rider. I did chase the two cows with my horse.
Are you gonna be, 'cause you were a cowboy. Are you gonna get- It's fine, you know, you yell "stampede" as you're riding around. Stampede the two cows. The two cows.
Well, they would get loose on occasion. That belongs on a t-shirt. Palmer riding a horse in front of two cows. Shirtless.
Stampede. Shirtless. Like what was that guy? Next time that picture comes around.
If you have two cows and they get loose, you can put them back pretty easy. I only had five acres, but still, you have a horse, so you mount up the horse and you chase the cows back in the fence. And you play cowboy. Right, play cowboy.
He's a regular rip. He is. He's a regular rip. Minus the murder.
They keep putting out an article that he's being replaced. No way. Yes, but it's a play on words. What they're doing is the two hands that are on the farm, Azul and whatever the guy from prison is, they're going to start doing what he used to do.
One of them is going to take care of the farm, one of them is going to be the guy that kills people. So what's he going to do? Well, now he runs the neighbor farm that they're trying to take over. Ah, I'm not up on my whatever that is.
I think the prison guy is the murderer. He does the dirty work. Yeah, he ends up doing the dirty work and the other one is the one that takes care of the farm. Yeah.
- Yeah. Okay. Are we getting this, Greg? - We getting Cowrider?
- I don't think so. - You have Ash on your shirt, by the way. - Always. - Are we getting Wayfinders at all?
Broadleaf Wayfinders? - They, this is Cavalier, right? - Yes. - Yeah, they've been talking with us for some time.
- Quite a while. - Yeah, quite a while. So, I don't know, maybe. - So still know?
- I like them personally. - I really like them personally. - Yeah, Brian's cool. - I mean, the cigars, I like some of the cigars, too.
I like the ones they always give me, but yeah, they're super nice guys. For sure. Not enough to get it done. All right, moving on.
Cavaliers opted not to release the Boar Tamer. The Boar Tamer? Boar Tamer. Another Broadleaf release from last year.
How high was Brian when he came up with these names? Yeah, no kidding. A lot of animals. Wayfinder, Cowrider, and Boar Tamer.
And you have to look at them to say it right, because you're like, did that say Boar Tamer? Boar Tamer. Ah, with all one word. Yeah, it's all one word.
Back. Okay. Well, what would Cowrider, Cowrider's all one word, too. Corruder?
Corruder. Corrider? Okay. For timer.
All right, okay, listen, let's table this and let's just do one episode, one, one, what's the score? The CRA put out a sampler, but I pulled that article from two weeks ago, so we can skip that. Okay. This episode's gonna go three hours.
No, it's one hour long, now we're gonna do what's the score will be slightly over five, uh, an hour. Hold on, fast forwarding, fast forwarding, fast forwarding. Ooh, they have a Fuente Fuente. Foonti, Foonti?
Foonti, Foonti. You know, I like how everybody here still calls it Foonti, Foonti. Yeah, to this day. That's one of the sons that doesn't talk to me.
Did he wish you a happy Father's Day? Nope. He didn't even bother calling? Nope.
I kind of half thought he would, but that's okay. That's horrible. That's okay. My mother accidentally called me the day before.
And wished you a happy Father's Day? Yeah. Did you say I'm not your father? I was coaching.
You're confused, mother. You're not my father. Yeah. She missed out on the actual day, and then she followed back up two days later, asking why her Spotify account was not working.
She's, yeah, getting a little bit more confused these days. And this is why you're the golden child, because you defend her. She would hang out with my mom? Like, we could tell them they know each other.
That would be awesome. " Oh, we can get them to fight like the robots in your house. Oh, there you go. Oh, let them go.
That's nice. Your mother, I think, is a little more physically fit than my mother is. My mother seems frail. All she has to do is knock her off balance, and then it's all over.
Oh, hit my head. Oh, brain bleed. All right. Well, we've gone through that twice, so.
It's time for the interview. Still can't. Still bounces back. I don't know what it is.
The old battle axe. Her brother texted today. Apparently, she's now claiming people are coming in the house stealing things when she goes for walks and things. That's what happened.
Let's go there and start moving some stuff around. Well, every time I'm there, I get blamed for stealing something. Yeah. Sort of inadvertently.
Like, we need to make a new rule. I feel like you don't take things out of the house when you're here, and I go, well, I haven't been here in three weeks. What did I take? I can't find any of my glasses.
Yes, I came and stole your glasses. I should've said, you should've said sorry. Well, I said yes, and I'm moving to the south of France. I'm living on your glass money.
That's where I'm going. I'm living on your glasses money. Time for the industry's favorite game, what's the score? Players share clues from a half-wheel cigar review and try to predict the score before it's revealed.
As more details are shared, the challenge gets easier, or does it? The closest guest to the actual score wins the round. Can you read between the lines to predict the score? Let's play.
What's the score? By the way, the expression on Law's face when you hit those fireworks was priceless. Like he did not see it coming. He's like, wow, this is really impressive.
This is a top-notch production here. These guys, and then my brother's line, this is why we have no money. So true. So true.
When you go outside, we have a skydiver. It's going to come out with your name on this parachute. I'm like, what else can we get? We need a smoke machine.
It doesn't make it, no, it seems silly. Yeah, but think how cool the fireworks will look with the smoke mixed in. I got one $600 mic coming. Don't worry, if it works, there's another $600 mic coming.
Bubble machine would be nice. Just as you guys are talking, just constant floating bubbles behind you. Oh, I wouldn't be. I only have stupid lights behind me.
They're not that expensive either. I mean, we could easily get one. I'm not going to lie. live.
Maybe we do that for Phil when he wins. When he wins, he makes bubbles. That'd be better than do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do. Alright, first cigar, or the cigar, September 26, 2017.
Brian Burt is the reviewer. Brian. Could go anywhere. 2017?
Yes. Foundation Cigars, we review the Melanick. Oh. Okay.
I'll go first. 90. 88. 5x52, Petit Robusto, MSRP, We're Not Saying, This Is Back When It Was A Event Cigar, And They Smoked, Oh, Number Of Cigars Released, We're Not Saying, And They Smoked Three.
92. 89. The Melanick offered a dynamic smoking experience that evolved nicely throughout the cigar. Initial notes of black pepper and chilly heat gradually gave way to a more refined profile of sweetness, baking spice, earth, cocoa, and increasing smoky oak.
By the final third, all of these components had settled into a harmonious balance, creating a smooth, cool, and flavorful finish right down to the nub. 92. Harmonious, 90. Clue #2: Although the wrapper looked rough and unrefined, it had a smooth, oily texture and even firmness throughout.
The pigtail cap and the overall shape gave it a visual appeal, and despite a burn line that was never razor sharp, the cigar stayed on course for most of the smoking experience without requiring intervention. 92. 91. Third clue, the cigar's biggest weakness was its somewhat inconsistent combustion.
Early on, the ash proved fragile, with a large chunk expectedly falling off, and wispy sections of wrapper occasionally appeared during the second third. While the burn mostly corrected itself, it eventually became uneven enough in the final third to warrant a touch-up, keeping the construction from matching the quality of the flavor. 89. Wispy 89.
I was gonna go 89. It's definitely 89. I'm not chanting just because you decided to go with my number. I'm sticking with my thought.
It was my number. It was my number. I called it first. I had it in my head before you said it.
How did I know that? I went with 92. I don't know. Just everybody cares.
Vinyl thought. I was intrigued by the Mellanic, not only for many of the reasons stated above, but just because event-only, rare or limited edition cigars tickle my interest. Luckily, I have to remember to ask that next time. Tickles your interest.
Luckily, it delivered in a good way, which is slight unfortunate, if only for the reason that I will have a hard time getting my hands on more. Despite the flaky ash and less than perfect burn, the profile developed and changed enough to beginning to end that it delivered an interesting and engaging experience, with the flavor staying cohesive enough to continuously mesh well. It's certainly a cigar I can suggest you get your hands on if you can, whether that means trekking down on the secondary market Or simply just going to a Foundation Cigar Company event. 91.
What did you say a little louder please? 91. Thank you. Tickling, flaky, ash.
92. You went the wrong way. 90. Victorious!
I love this. I love this. You are the loser, looser. Oh, I really enjoy doing this.
Yes. You do. Yeah, you do, because you were mad that you weren't on yesterday's show. Well, how was I mad that I wasn't on yesterday's show?
We could tell, we could tell. How? What, what, what, what you were just indicating factor do you, can you bring to the table? Palmer, tell him.
" No, I did not. Yes, you did. " You were on the show today. Yesterday, I told you that we had Phil, we didn't need you on the show.
You go, I'm not on the show? And I went, no. And you went, oh. I don't think so.
Just like that. You know, do you remember the time of day that it happened where I was standing? Because I'd like to check the tapes. You were behind the counter.
I think I was on the front side of the counter at the time. What time did we do the show yesterday? He has dementia. He doesn't remember anything.
I know. I'm still going to look this up. And today, after you left Charles, where I was going to have Charles build you up and tell you how good you were on the show? " That is a lie.
That's what she said. I said, "God damn it" is actually what I said afterwards. Yeah, but it was how you said it. Oh, I see.
Oh, God damn it, yes. Oh, God damn it a lie. They're such polite people. They need me.
They're so polite that she actually called and apologized for reading the text out loud. I believe that. I believe that. The other part of the story I don't fucking believe, but that first part I believe.
Yeah, they are super nice. They are very nice. I told her, she's still on the list though. Even though I haven't met you, you're still on the list.
On the list? She read it out loud. Oh, I see. Okay.
I have no idea what's going on, nor do our listeners. So I'll fill you in. So I go to Charles to go and do a pickup for some product today, as well as a firearm that Steve's going to wind up taking photos of. And Charles's phone goes off, and Charles's wife picks it up and says, "Oh, it's Palmer.
" And I'm like, "Oh, maybe there's a problem. " So I call Palmer, like, "Hey, I'm here. " God damn it. And that was the extent of the moment.
Ah. Got it. I'm going to go, "Hey, I hope you're on the show today. " He's planting seeds to get me to want to go on the show.
Throughout the city. Throughout the state. Where's Greg going to be at today? Let me call the Wawa while he's gassing up the truck and see if somebody can come around.
"Hey, I know you! " I've seen you on the podcast! I've seen you! You're Triple G!
Gas is free! You know, we get that all the time. Palmer's all about the psyops. That's ridiculous.
Okay, let's close this out. Let's go. All right. Go ahead, Michael.
July 9th, I'm going to be at Creekside Tobacco in Ohio. Oh, he's going out now. So, if you're in the area July 9th and you want to see me, Tyler, who said he listens to the show every day, I told him that I was going to be there and he didn't realize. And I said, this is how I know you don't listen every day because I talked about it yesterday.
He was there yesterday. Yeah. So he said, oh, I saw you at Prague at Creekside. Yeah, I said, yeah.
I said, I'm going to be there July 9th. com, a Cigar Hustlers podcast, we appreciate you guys listening and watching the show today, and we hope we provided great edutainment for you on this Thursday. So, Palmer? All right, guys, thanks, we gotta go, we got a Patreon to do.
Okay, bye.
