Cigar Hustlers Podcast 227 The Poising

Episode Summary
Episode 227 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with the hosts trading road-trip misery stories — a seven-hour drive to Carlton, Georgia for a wedding that ended in a brutal case of food poisoning from a suspicious roadside "chicken" food truck, plus a Mother's Day weekend that included a Sebastian Maniscalco show at Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center (and a legendarily bad valet operation), a hotel stay at the Grand Bohemian Sapphire, and a babysitter whose car got wrecked by a discarded shrub. The guys also give away two Powstanie x Cigar Hustler ashtrays to the winners of their "Yo Mama joke" contest on Instagram and Facebook.
The industry news segment is the meat of the episode. The Cigar Association of America's first 2022 import report shows 21.4 million premium cigars imported in January, up 3.8% year over year, with Nicaragua leading at 14.725 million and Honduras jumping from 2.41 to 3.212 million — while the Dominican Republic dropped more than 40% to 3.319 million. The hosts then cover Eddie Tarazona of Tarazona Cigars announcing his candidacy for Florida's newly created 18th Congressional District, and what having a cigar industry voice in Congress could mean for pushing back on FDA regulation. Other news: Crux Cigars raising prices an average of 4.687% on May 16, 2022 (with plenty of ribbing about Casey being sick at every trade show), Freud Cigar Company's limited edition Superego made by longtime Davidoff production supervisor Eladio Diaz at his new factory, and the Room 101 x Luxury Cigar Club "Cherubs" project — Cherub One "Scarlet Hog" and Cherub Two "Chicken," a 6x52 Toro head-to-head set with a Nicaraguan wrapper, Indonesian binder and Jalapa/Condega/Estelí fillers made at Joya de Nicaragua, $12.69 each in five-packs.
Mid-show, the hosts phone Jack from the Heckle & Jekyll Podcast to get his reaction to finding out on social media that co-host Hector Alfonso had launched a new solo show without him. The bit turns into a running gag about non-compete clauses, trolling other cigar podcasts, and inviting Jack to bring a "Fuck That Guy" segment to the Hustlers. The episode closes with a bizarre news story out of Peru about a woman who banged on the inside of her own casket during her funeral, plus the usual PCA Las Vegas trade show anticipation.

There you go. That's one? One, two, three. One, two, three.
Is that what we've got today? Okay. Mixing it up, I see. Well, two weeks from now, when we're downstairs, they will never move again.
Back to two. Do two weeks. Do two weeks. That's what he's told me today.

All around the world. All around the world. Mine sounds fine. Static-y.
No, it's not. Oh, sounds good on my end. Okay. com.
Remember to please rate, comment, and subscribe. Subscribe. There's a gentle popping when you speak. I can't.
Me too. It could be your headphones. Maybe. Maybe your headphones are loose.
As long as it drives Amanda Morris crazy, that's all that matters. Oh. Not our husband, David. He's a lovely man.
We like David. David is not affiliated. He's a lovely man. May 14th.
Well, you're not. I will be appearing at the Cars at Care Car Show Deltona from 4 to 7:30 PM at the Deltona City Hall. Call. Entry is $5 and a box of diapers or wipes and a box of diapers.
$5 box of diapers or a box of wipes or $5 or a box of diapers or a box of wipes. Any combination thereof or any singular unit. What about one diaper? No, it's got to be a case.
What about one diaper in its own cardboard box? It's got to be a case of diapers. A case of diapers. What's the number of the diapers?
Number in a case? How many diapers? I guess it would depend on how large a diaper you buy. What if it's the special organic biodegradable diapers?
Then they might not be in a box because that would be biodegradable as well. Yeah, it's got to be in the special... Earth-friendly box? Organic.
Organic. That dissolves in poop? I don't know. Plant-based?
Plant-based. Plant-based. Plant-blag. Plant-blag.
Still getting over my nasal infection thing. I think you got me. I think you got me. Really?
Yeah. It's not bad for me though. It's not, no, Adrian's worse off than I am, and she's been to the doctor. Any reason for me to hit the apron though, I'm gonna do it.
Oh yeah, I hit it three times. I know. I know, and you have a horrible addiction. Yes, yes, yes.
" When? You can't stop me. When you were sleeping. It was on your nightstand.
It was sitting there lonely. It was calling my name in the dark. It's nice. A little light came on, it went ping!
Everybody loves to breathe really well when you sleep. You know, it's like it's tolerable throughout the day and then you're like, I'm gonna hit this effort. Right. And the oxygen shall flow.
So, you want to hear my wedding story? Or do you want to tell me what you did? Yeah, I want to hear your wedding story. I'm just gonna say that I will have two winners today on the podcast for the Cigar Hustler Postanya ashtray for the Yo Mama.
Oh, the Yo Mama jokes. Yes, yes, before we get into your wedding, I did a post on Instagram and on Facebook, and I said, "Hey, I want to hear some Yo Mama jokes. I'm going to give something away. That's what we're going to give away.
" I don't have the names picked yet, so it'll be fun. It'll be entertaining. Oh, you want to do that now? You want to wait until the end?
No, no. We're going to throw it somewhere in here. Oh. You're never going to know.
One of those. You're going to have to watch the whole thing. You have to listen. " So, I know for a fact that it can't be John Yogerlake, because he's never going to listen.
He wins all the shit. And there's probably one or two other people that I will not include, because you're loyal listeners. Right, and you win all the time. Yeah, we had to, on the other show, we had to get shirtless.
Mike had to be the winner. He was the only one that wasn't the regular. Oh, he won. Yeah, he won.
He won at Roku. Oh, he won the, oh. Right. He is crushing it as of late.
He is from the Mike and Mike Productions team. Yeah, we are just feeding this man. Basically, that's the only thing we're not doing at this point. He said that he's the most mentioned person on all podcasts at this point.
Oh, look at him. Wow. Yeah, he's out crushing. He is.
He wants to do the show. Well, of course. Once we get the ink. Yeah.
Is that confirmed? Have we mentioned that on the show yet? Yes, yes, we did. Okay.
He's received all the contracts, all the payments. He is scheduling with the tattoo artists. And have we given money to the Cigar Noise Boys yet? No, no, we haven't.
I need to take care of that this week. But he was in Icaragua last week. I saw that. Yeah, like all of a sudden.
Out of nowhere. Right. Hmm. Such a busy, very important man.
He really is. He's living his best life. Yeah. Baby Grande.
Running around. Baby Grande. I haven't seen anything from his partner on the show, on the sidekick. No, he just disappears.
Right. Yeah. Okay, so please tell me about, tell me wedding. Okay, so I was already sick when we went to the wedding.
Yes. You went to? Carleton, Georgia. Yes.
Seven hour drive. Mm-hmm. So we show up Friday night, a couple of dinner, we had dinner by ourselves. Did you get checked for COVID?
No. No, but the hotel did have out front a sanitation station for your luggage that everybody was just bypassing. So you wiped your face with the sanitation? They wanted you to spray your luggage.
It seemed ridiculous. That was so 2020. You know what I mean? Right, yeah.
It was obviously a holdover from before that nobody actually, you know what, that looks good. That was so early on. We were all wiping out our groceries at that point. Right, yeah.
We're not wiping. That was ridiculous. I used to see my neighbors doing that. I was driving home.
I'm like, this is crazy. Clorox the bananas. Right. Yes, that's very important.
Very important, because that's where all COVID is. COVID's on the bananas. So some of the young ladies had to do last-minute shopping Saturday morning. So we run around, Ross, TJ Maxx, Target, that kind of blah, blah, blah.
And then I'm still not feeling well, so it turned out there was a street festival two blocks over from our hotel in a little town square thing. You figured you'd go spread the virus. Well, Adrian goes, well, why don't we get you some fresh air, walk, and I go, I'm kind of hungry. You can sneeze on a couple people.
I'm kind of hungry. Go, okay, we'll get something to eat. So we walk around, and she's like, oh, let's go over to the Irish pub place. I'm like, oh, I'm not really feeling Irish.
Ooh, a little drinkin' early on. Irish pubby food. Well, get yourself some cabbage. So we're walking around, looking at little craft things and everything, and we had food trucks.
So we stopped at a Chick-fil-A-looking food truck. It was a red food, well, it was a root red, red little trailer, I think they were just microwaving the food or something. Was it a Sunday? No, it was Saturday.
Okay, so they were open. Yes, yes, yes, yes. So we get the food, and I'm not feeling well, so we go back to the hotel. She inhales her just, I'm very hungry.
Old Tasmanian devil sounds. Oh, she was very hungry. I ate half of mine. I'm like, I just don't feel good.
I don't want to eat. So then we go to the hotel, so the day progresses, and we go to the wedding. Halfway through the reception, I'm getting a little sick to my stomach, and we get up to get the food, and I take one bite, and I'm like, I just, I just can't. You're gonna bomb.
Yeah, I feel terrible, I'm not gonna eat. She goes, the food's not good, I go, no, it's okay, I just, I don't feel good. About 20 minutes later, I have to hightail to the bathroom, and I just explode in the bathroom. Both ends?
No, no, just the one. Just the back one. Oh, just the back one. To the point where I cleaned the toilet, I felt so bad.
Wow. And then I'm sick the rest of the night, and then when we get back to the hotel, I start throwing up. Yes, there it is. I got the food poisoning from the Chick-fil-A luggage food truck.
That was the devil's chicken. That was not the Lord's chicken. That was not the Lord's chicken. That was the devil's chicken.
Right. So I'm throwing up all night in the hotel. And then the next morning, it hits her. Ah, well, she had a healthy portion of it.
Right. Right. But she's only pooping. She's not throwing up.
Ah. So the seven hour car ride home is rest stop to rest stop to rest stop. Nice. Trying not to poop ourselves as we're driving through the state of Georgia.
What a lovely, what a wonderful Mother's Day you had. Yeah, she slept all the way home because if she woke up, she had to poop, so... So you tried to comatose her. Yes, yes.
Because she wouldn't shit herself sleeping. Right, so we finally get home. So she's not Amber Heard is what you're saying. Right, no, no, she's not.
But somewhere during the trip, she decided that vinegar chips would be a good idea. Oh, that's a great idea. No, no. Yeah.
Vinegar's an acid. That just made the poop burn. Makes sense. And the poop burn.
It burns the poop. Burning poopies. Oh. So, last time I threw up was at 4:30 this morning.
There's obviously nothing in there to throw up, but... Maybe you had a stomach bug. I don't know, because... If she caught it afterwards.
Well, she ate more than anybody, but I have a very sensitive stomach. That kind of stuff hits me usually pretty quick. Okay. So...
So don't eat chicken in Georgia? Moral of the story. Don't go to Chick-fil-A in Carleton, Georgia. That's not, it was not Chick-fil-A.
It was Chick, yeah, it said Chick-fil-A written in, like, Sharpie on the trailer. That should have been the first sign right there. Yeah, it was not Chick-fil-A. It might have been with a K, you know, not, you know.
They got the, they got the Big Mac, we got the Big Mick. Right, and the fries were a waffle chips in a bag, so I'm not sure what it was, but my apologies, I did not make it to Boss Cigars, I was, I was busy. You did not see Corinto? We drove, we drove by it once and it was not open yet.
That was at nine o'clock in the morning. m. Yeah, I understand, but that was the only time I had. m.
No. But there are some. Some, yes. m.
cigars. And kudos to you consumers that are there at nine o'clock smoking a cigar. Right, so I had a bagel this morning and some plain oatmeal, and it lasted until about I got here, and then I had to quickly get rid of it. You purged that as well.
Yes, it's still, yeah, so I'm very hungry, but I'm afraid to eat. That's amazing. Yes. You're on a diet plan.
Apparently, yes. Congratulations. You're going to lose about five or ten solid pounds. Might have already.
Yeah. I have not eaten anything but like a muffin that has stayed down since Saturday morning. Oh. Small little blueberry muffin from Starbucks.
You know, this is great. The first 20 minutes is your bowel movements. Fantastic. How much you enjoy is a good story.
That's a fantastic story. Yes. Well, I had a lovely weekend. Yes.
Yes. Sebastian Manikowsko went to that. Bless you. You know, I think that's his name.
That's whose name? I'm probably fucking it up. He's a comedian. No idea who he is.
He's like an Italian guy? Why are you laughing? Is it not Sebastian Manakowsko? I don't think you're fucking it up.
Okay. You gotta get close to the microphone if you're gonna talk, cameraman. I don't think you're fucking it up. That's our cameraman.
That's our cameraman. That's Boots. Let's give him a different name for when he's a cameraman. Okay.
Like Phil or something. That's Phil. Phil, our cameraman. Alright, turn him off.
He's off. He's not part of the show. So you went to this Saturday night? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, no, Friday night. Friday night, so at Dr. Phillips Center, we saw Sebastian Manni. Was this part of the Mother's Day?
No, no, the Manny liked Sebastian Manni Kauskal. " Oh, you guys, your Facebook herd? Yeah, probably. Right.
So, I fucking, I jumped on it, right? And, um... Did you buy just two tickets? No, about four.
Oh, well, he couldn't go. He came. Oh, they came back. Oh, right.
Well, they have not been gone long at all, have they? Well, she's still here. Oh, it's true. Yeah.
So... So I've... What's really kind of funny is, like, I have watched this guy on YouTube and some of this... Camera three.
Camera three. I have watched this guy on, like, YouTube and some of this other stuff, and, like, he was okay funny. I was like... You know, like, eh.
He's funny enough for me to go see him, but... Sorry. Mike's dying. I'm getting over dying.
He was funny enough to go see him, but I wasn't expecting to laugh a fuck ton. Oh, good. But I'm gonna tell you right now, what a show, man. It was so funny.
He's your new favorite? No, he's not my new. No, no. I would say...
Oh, no. Go back. Go back. So he's your favorite?
Oh, no, I don't... To the two. Oh, back to two. You know, if you were to ask me like instinctively who I would tell you my favorite comedian is currently And if you know who he is currently right now, it has to be Bill Burr.
Really? Oh my god, that guy is fucking hilarious. Yeah. What are you?
Uh, the little black guy. I can't think of his name at the moment. Kevin Hart? Kevin Hart, yeah, sorry.
I like Kevin Hart right now. Yeah, he's always funny, but like his last stand-up I thought it was okay. Oh, see, I don't go to stand-up things. No, that was online.
It was on Netflix. Oh. When he did it from his house. Couldn't watch it.
Apparently I shouldn't. But this one, this Sebastian Manacalco was really fun. He's really fucking funny. I've never heard of this man before.
Oh my God. Yes, you have. " Go ahead and talk. I'm just going to see what he looks like.
I will tell you this, though. Sebastian Manicotti, what? Yeah, that's him. Sebastian Manicalsko.
The valet at fucking Dr. Phillips Center is a fucking disaster. Like, they have one... Do you get it?
Yeah, yeah. Okay. Just trying to get his picture. I have, like, so I, so when you go and you buy your tickets, like, oh, would you like to purchase valet?
I'm like, fuck yeah, like, I might have seen him on TikTok. I'd like to bougie it up some with this valet offer that you, that you give. So, so I fucking take the valet because I think it'd be cool as shit. You just pull up and you get out, whatever, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
It's not that smooth. You pull up, they're like, do you have, have you preordered valet after you're sitting in line for 20 minutes? Cause you know, it's fucking, you know, there's a ton of people, which I get. I figured I'd wait in line for that.
I go, yeah, here you go. I show him my QR code or whatever. He's like, okay, cool. Now that I see that you have it, you need to get out of your car and go stand in another line for this one person that's fucking scanning all of them.
So they got one fucking guy. They got one scanner. Yeah, that he's scanning and also taking payments and just kind of moving at a fucking- So you haven't already paid for it? I did, but some people didn't.
So I'm moving at a fucking glacial pace. I'm like, holy shit, you guys are fucked, they're like, and this is- So how many people are in the standing line after you've already sat in the car line? Pfff, over a hundred. So wait, there's a hundred cars lined up there because you just, you just got out.
Yeah, oh yeah, and these people are getting in line and like the cars are driving, people are driving the cars away, but then there's one guy at this fucking podium. Oh, so they take your car and everybody gets out. Yeah. But then you have to go over here.
And wait in line. Oh, see, I thought you were saying you had to go over here, get scared and everything, and then you come back to the car. Like, wouldn't it have made more sense to have a guy scan as you're getting out of the fucking car? Right.
Like, it's all mobile. Right. And, like, Dr. Phillips is, like, the upper-tier fucking...
It's the payment thing is what they weren't able to work out. Probably, so they fucked you with that. Right. Right.
So they should only accept prepayment. Right. And then, your code, sir, doot-doot, thank you, sir, I'm gonna give you keys, you're out. Oh, yeah.
And then when I went to go leave, holy shit, what a disaster that was. Well, you knew you waited in line with all the people. Yeah, I was like, oh, yeah, I'm fucked. Right.
I was fucked. It was very upsetting. See, you've been spoiled by the Universal Valley. You know what, I should have valeted at Universal and just walked over.
Oh, yeah, it wasn't that far. Yeah, it was probably another 15 minutes, no big deal. Last time in line. But you know what, you make it through some sketchy parts of Orlando.
Like, ugh. Yeah, I don't have any money on me, I'm very sorry. Please put the knife down. that's not a knife this is a knife right so um but all in all it was a good show man i had a good time we had a new date we had a new babysitter you're burning through them like crazy i know we burned through babysitters you can't get the same ones back yeah that's what i said to this one i go work it's okay because we can't seem to get a babysitter to return yeah because the last one when we went out with you that one seemed very nice she was gonna come back yep nope nope Nope, once you get out of the house.
No, no, they're always busy. Once you get out of the house, you're like, oh, nope, gotta get out of here. Fuck these kids. Man, fuck them kids.
Wow. So, this babysitter's very nice. She was really cool. And I chopped down like this little tree by my house.
Yeah. It was pissing me off. It had like these little red fruit thingies. Right.
And it was like flies and shit. It drove me nuts. So I chopped it down. Right.
And the garbage men didn't take it. So the babysitter did? No, no. So, in my protest for the trash people, I just took it and I just left it at the curb because fuck them.
Okay. It'll stay there until somebody picks it up. The poor babysitter ran the shrub over. She's in my tire.
No, it got wedged under her fucking car. She's never coming back either. It got wedged under her car and pushed out her bumper. Oh my lord.
Oh my lord. So I had to take a fucking sawzall to this thing to remove the branch to get her out. And she's like, I'm sorry. She says, I'm like, I'm sorry.
I'm, you know, like, I feel terrible, you know? And I was like, please come back. She goes, no, no, you, you will have me back, right? I'm like, oh, maybe, maybe this is the one that, that sticks it out.
Well, you just damaged her car. I mean, she damaged her car. You left it on the curb. She shouldn't have drove through the grass.
My driveway's weird. Your driveway's a pain in the ass to get out of. It's very strange. I have to look and see where the mailbox is every time I back out because it moves sometimes.
Yeah, it's true. It shifts sides everyone's while. It's like a Donkey Kong barrel. Let's mix it up.
Bing, ding, ding. Mike's dying still. I'm doing much better. So, yeah, I hope she comes back.
She seemed nice. Do they have any male babysitters? I would, no, it's weird. Yeah, you think it's weird?
No, no. You know, the only male babysitter that we use is the neighbor's kid. The first kid. Oh.
I know him. I don't know. I don't know what that is for me. For me, it's weird.
Just weird, huh? Yeah, I'm not comfortable with that. Oh. There's only one dick in this house that's mine, goddammit.
Well, no, there's more than one. You've got two boys. The ones that I... Those are my people.
Oh, the ones you made. These are my people. I made these dicks. These are mine.
This is a subsidiary of my own dick. Subsidia. No, yeah, I don't know. Teddy's not a diaper anymore, is he?
She is potty-training, but no, I mean, we put her in a diaper at night. Well, that's because a guy changing her diaper might be a little weird. Yeah, like, yeah, all of that just doesn't, I don't know. I don't know, man.
I don't know what it's about. I'm just a weird fuck, I guess. No, I can understand that. I would be a little more uncomfortable with a man changing my daughter's diaper than a woman changing my son's diaper.
Right. Yeah. Yeah, because, you know, we're male chauvinist pricks, I guess. I don't know.
Well, I ended up watching the kids Saturday morning. There was like a 6, 7, and 8, and then a 13-year-old, all girls, and they're, I mean, the mothers are shopping, these kids are all running through the store, and I'm like, I, I, yeah, I mean, I had no idea what to do. I'm like, Adrian, do these people, who's watching the children? She goes, well, just check on everyone's well.
Like, I can't even find them. They're in the racks, you know, they're popping their heads out when I come by and stuff. Look, I'm just having a good time. Yeah, I mean, I would even feel weird in the scenario, like if you had to do some type of potty thing for any of my kids.
You know what I mean? Oh yeah, I would feel weird too. Yeah, it's just awkward. Well, after I got done cleaning the bathroom at the reception, cleaning the toilet, I hear somebody out there milling around, I'm like, oh great, now I got to go out here and explain what I was doing.
It's a little kid trying to go to the bathroom at the urinal, I mean, he's a little, little kid. yeah i'm like so uh everything okay and i'm thinking this is how you end up in jail yeah walk the fuck away just leave yeah so i just went okay wash my hands i'm out yeah no no more communication with the child in the bathroom right the hell were you thinking well you know he sort of looks over his shoulder is look like he's fumbling with something well you can't i know i know like i cannot help this child at all it's not like you can provide eight imagine if his parents come in like what in the hell i would it's nobody knows really dead i know three people i I gotta get out of here. Dude, I know you and you're instantly dead. What the fuck?
What are you doing? You're out of your mind. Exactly. So yeah, that was fun.
Babysitter fucking destroyed a car. Poor babysitter. Just never be back. Babysitter, if you're a listener to the show, send him the bill for the car.
Please return. We liked you. He's a big tipper. You've liked all of them.
Yeah, I guess so, to some degree, yeah. And then Saturday, we did like a little Mother's Day thing where I got to a hotel at Sapphire. Oh, you did do the hotel? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which they've changed their fucking smoking rules, which really, really pissed me off. Oh. 'Cause you could used to go to, they have this place called Strongwater. Right.
And that was my jam. Like it was a rum bar, they had like a nice little patio. Oh. And we could have like dinner together.
We'd have, I, that was the other babysitter, the neighbor's babysitter, he came out for that. And, you know, after Teddy was asleep. And I figured we'd smoke or whatever and bullshit and have a good time. He came to the hotel?
He did. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, yeah. They didn't offer like a babysitting service?
Nah, fuck that. Oh, one of those people. Nope. I don't know who the fuck they are.
Oh. com approved. You couldn't smoke there though, huh? Yeah, they wouldn't let me smoke on the patio anymore.
Like, no, no, you can't smoke here. I'm like, well, what about over there? Like, there's a fire pit. You guys, I've always come to this hotel and I've always smoked here.
And this is, so something happened with COVID and they're like, we're gonna take this away? I mean, what the fuck? So I'm like, no, no, you got to go down to the fucking street level, the designated death area, right? The one ashtray in the parking garage, where you sit and it's, you know, whatever.
But I did meet a cool guy there. Yeah. Yeah. We went down to this fucking area.
Oh, you went down to the area. Yeah. After we ate. Right.
And, um, there was this guy's name's Dennis. Oh, Dennis. Hello, Dennis. He's a guy from New York.
Hello, Dennis. Former Marine. Oh, he went, he bought some, I've got some cigars from that one guy, though. Sosa?
No, no. Oh, C-word. Did you tell him about it? But he knew what's up.
When you run into a cigar guy, it could go so many different directions. Some people are like, oh, I got this, this is a Maduro, I smoked a Maduro or some shit. You know what I mean? You're judged by the selection in the man's hand.
Yeah, I'm analyzing who the fuck he is. Right. And I'm like, okay, all right, you know what's up. Some tabernacles in there.
there you know yeah i'm like okay nice little array you know and i'm like so then i start bullshitting with them and he knows uh a couple of the the kotl guys the botl guys um you know he knows some of the shops that we go that are up there and stuff so he knows he knows what's up which is really really kind of cool and then we tried to go to city walk which is a disaster but we hung out in the pool on saturday and then sunday we went to volcano basement the day there Oh. A little Mother's Day action. Good for you. With the whole squad.
Right. She invited all of us. I would have told her to go wherever she wanted. She should have just went by herself.
She's gonna be with the kids. Just a regular weekend for her. Yeah, I tried my best. Right.
I tried my best to alleviate as much kid shit. Right. You know what I mean? Well.
Hmm. But it was very cool. It sounded like you did a good job, Michael. Yeah, man.
It was a good time. Very proud of you. Congratulations. we don't care.
Everybody's tired. Oh. And Wednesday I'm going out with the doctor, Baldwin. Oh, are you?
We're going to Universal again. Oh. Yeah. Good for you.
Have you ever been? Universal? Yeah. One time.
One time I went on one random Sunday afternoon. Oh, man. You gotta go, dude. Very busy, Michael.
Super busy. How do you spell Chevelle? Some of the your mama jokes. I think David Morris was like, your mama's so stupid she can't spell Chevelle.
Oh, that was really good. Not a winner though, huh? I don't know, maybe we'll see. All right, you ready?
Anything else? You ready to move on? I'm moving on. From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need.
The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report with Mike Two. January 2022, premium cigar imports beat 2021, Michael. Yes. Cigar Association of American Industry Trade Group has released its first report on cigar imports for 2022, and the year is starting off on a positive.
It is. 6 million cigars estimated in January 2021. The increase is led by two countries. Do you want to guess, Mitch, too?
Yes. Which two? Nicaragua. That's number one.
Ding, ding, ding! 725 million premium cigars. Now, the Dominican Republic did have a couple of bad years, so I'm gonna go Honduras. Oh, very good, Michael, yes!
Boom! 212 million. It's crazy! The Dominican Republic's export to USA decreased by more than 40%.
56 million in 2021. January's numbers are interesting giving 2021 ended despite a record year for premium cigar imports last year. S. S.
Custom Services and information from cigar companies themselves. All right, Mike, we have big news now. All right, I'm going to give one of them to David Morris, just so he knows. com, in order to receive it.
You wanna say his joke? He's got a bunch. Oh, we'll pick one. He's got a bunch.
You wanna look for the Chevelle one? The Chevelle one was pretty funny. Well, if not, you already read it. " Your mom was so fat, Chet's Jeep couldn't climb her.
Oh, nice! Oh, look how he's adding personal touches. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he did some stuff there. Your mom was so nasty, they used to, they used to call them "jumpalines" till your mama bounced on one.
Tramp call means. Yeah, I understand. Get it? I understand.
So there you go. David, email me. And then we'll figure out the next one on Insta. Sometime later.
David Morris, winner of the first Powstanie. First winner. Cigar Hustler, Ashtray. Or Michael.
S. House of Representatives. Oh, look at him. No, I'm surprised.
Isn't it? Interesting. Eddie Tarzona of Tarzona Cigars is announcing he is launching I don't know any personal relationships with the House of Representatives. I hope he wins.
Yeah. That'd be nice. Tarzano has filed paperwork at the Federal Election Commission and is running as a Republican for Florida's newly created 18th Congressional District, an area that covers a large amount of land to the west and northwest of Lake Okeechobee in Central Florida. In a tweet announcing his candidacy.
He tweeted it. He tweeted it. An Elon Musk tweet. Ah.
Tarzono called himself a conservative leader that is pro-constitution, pro-family, pro-freedom, and pro-you. Pro-you. Well, not you specifically, pro-them. Pro-them.
Pro-them. Pro-them. Who promises to take the fight to the establishment to stand for Florida and America first. Murca.
He plans to launch his website on Monday, which contains more details about his candidacy. As for the cigar company, Tarzono told Half-Wheel that he will continue to run it during his campaign, but acknowledges that should he win, he will likely be handing off a chunk of the data He added that he thinks having a person from a premium cigar industry in Congress will help the chances of pushing back against FDA regulation and other issues facing the industry, as well as providing perspective as to how a healthy and thriving cigar industry would help the conditions in countries where cigars are produced, which in turn could help with international stability and immigration issues. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Helping, helping. Yes, very nice. Congratulations and good luck, Mr. Congressman Tarzona.
Well, we'll have to closely follow his candidacy. Yes. And see how it goes. Maybe she can have him on.
Oh, maybe, yeah. Wait, isn't there like a rule if we have him on, we have to let the other guy come on, too? I think that's a political thing. Is there?
I think so. Can we make fun of the other guy? When he's on? Yeah.
We can make fun of anybody. Nobody likes us. Can we do, like, fucking soundboard stuff as he's talking? You know what, I'm just gonna leave.
Oh yeah, you know what, here we go. So, what is your view on, uh, on Pro U? Ah, damn, Poop! Oh no, not Poop, you!
Oh, Poo! Yeah. Oh. All right, Crux increases prices on May 16th.
I like, I like the McTavish. Oh, no. Oh, we can do that one too. So, you'd say something, and then you'd hear.
So, what is your, uh, what is your, uh, gun? How do you feel on taxes? I'm for 'em. Like, oh, no.
Oh, here we go again. Damn Democrat. Crux increases the price, Michael, on May 16th. Crux Cigars is the latest company to announce a price increase in the spring of 2022.
Yeah. 687% across the portfolio on May 16th, 2022. Casey. We did this last year.
What are you doing? He's got to pay for all his medical bills. It's starting to be show season. Every time.
Oh, that's right. PCA is coming. He could die again. He could die again.
How are you doing? I haven't eaten in six days. Okay, well, why? What happened now?
Casey from Crux is always sick at every fucking convention. Every trade show. PCA, TPE, anything. He needs to get like a fucking IV drip before he goes.
I mean, there needs to be some preparation. He needs like a nurse traveling with him or something. Yeah, someone on standby constantly checking his blood pressure, you know, to something. I want to see, you know.
He has problems keeping food down. Maybe he's got a nervous stomach. Maybe. Because, you know, when you shell out Not all that cash.
A lot of pressure. Not us, though. A lot of pressure. Bare minimum for us, PCA style.
Yeah, that way there's no pressure. Yeah, we're just gonna hang out and smoke. Right. And fuck it.
Only difference is we're gonna be in Vegas where it's hotter. I was thinking about making a shirt that said relevant. What do you think? Oh!
That's a good idea. For day one. Day one shirt that says relevant. You know, why not?
That would be funny. Fuck it. Who cares? That would be.
Relevant. Maybe choose violence. - Mix it up. - Ah, that'd be a good idea.
- He's the one wearing the relevant shirt. - Right. - That's a great idea, Michael. - Freud Cigar Company announces limited edition made by...
- Sigmund. - Eladio Diaz! - Eladio! - Our friend Eladio!
- Eladio's is out here crushing. - Freud Cigar Company's announced its second cigar release, a limited edition, that is being made by Eladio Diaz. - Eladio. - Who was previously the supervisor of production at Davidoff.
- Davidoff. - Davidoff, that's right, factory. And had a significant role in creating many of the company's blends, especially his birthday line that he likes so much. Yeah, that you can get out of the trunk of his car.
Right, that he carries around and hands out. It'll be called the Freud Cigars. Oh, this is that word that how about that cigar likes. Oh, by the way, how about that cigar, smoked by BDV?
They have a problem with the name, apparently. You know what? I think a lot of people have a problem with the name, Michael. I don't know, what is the problem with everybody that can't say Big Dick Palmer?
Big Dig Palmer. What's the big deal? I mean, it's not actually my dick. I think it's really remarkable that anyone's like, whoa, whoa, it's an abbreviation for dick.
Right. And I'm going to take this 6x54 phallic fucking leaf and stick it in my mouth, but that's okay. Can't call it that, though. Yeah, you guys are out of line.
You guys have lost it. I think there was brown delicious plants or something like that. Yes, yes. No, it's Big Dig Palmer.
Yeah. Matt. Yeah. Matt.
And whoever the other one is. God damn it. That's not nice. I can't remember his name.
Garrett. Garrett. God. That's so mean.
That's, you know what, you're just lucky that your name is Mike as well. Because they probably wouldn't remember you either. No, they probably wouldn't. Oh, trust me.
Mike and the other guy. I'm the guy that nobody has on their show. That's right. I don't blame them at all.
I don't know what I'm going to say on this show. I did the Hector Jack Taranio football thing. This year? Yeah, they did the review thing.
They kind of-- I slid it in on a Monday? Yeah, you were on it? Yeah. Oh, because they said they're only having one guest, so I watched it to see who the one guest was and it wasn't you.
No, I jumped on. Oh. I go, hey, are we fucking doing this? Because I asked, you know, because I asked draft day, I reached out to Hector, I said, hey, so is this happening?
He's like, oh, no, I'm out of the country and it's going to be spotty, but you can come on and we'll have you on, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, okay, sure, whatever you want, man. So then, like, it's going on. Right.
Now, you showed me that it was going on. Right. And I text Hector, and I said, "What the fuck? " I had already forgotten about it, but you had reminded me, thank you Michael, for always keeping me in line.
And I was like, "What the fuck? " So I go on, and there's a whole, like it was a media panel. The Coop was on there, Ben Lee was on there, McTavish was on there, oh no, McTavish was on there. McTavish was on there?
Like, oh. Oh. No, no, no, no. And, uh, yeah, very, it was, you know.
I guess that was Jack Taranio's last hurrah. Yes, we don't have that story. I kept looking for an announcement or a press release, but there wasn't one. Should we call Jack?
Apparently, oh, yes. Let's call Jack. The Heckle & Jekyll Show has separated. They've broken up.
They have broken up. You probably won't answer. I gotta connect to your fucking... All right, somebody went on.
What is it? What's it called? Rodecaster Pro. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There you go. Oh, no. Okay. Forget the vice.
Do, do, do, do, do, do. We're a professional show. You want to go on to your next story while I make this thing to discover? Sure.
The fact that Diaz recently opened after sending over three decades with Tandem holding Devinoff's Dominican subsidiaries also marks the first cigar to be announced as being produced by Diaz's factory And is expected to be the Freud Cigars co-founder. You got it? There it is. Freud Cigars debut the line, Superego, scheduled to arrive, but mainly we pulled the story because our friend Eladio is now in the world.
Eladio. And we love Eladio. Oh, I'm away over here now. Eladio.
Eladio. I like how you turn the camera on to me because you're in there. Room 101, the Luxury Cigar Club. I'm going to save that one.
Oh, I only have two more stories. Quick, get Jack on the phone. quick get jack on the phone hurry yeah hey you're on the podcast hi podcast wait we hear you're looking for a new podcast job yeah we're looking for an additional co-host on our show guy for the show okay apparently i got chicken man i found out on social media wow i didn't even tell you worse he's fueling the growth isn't he he's fucking He's been fueling the girl. Story of Jack's life.
Son of a... That fucking Hector, Matt, what the fuck? Wow. He didn't look at his, you know, there's a non-complete cause in Hector and Jack.
A non-compete? Wow. Damn. And he just went out and did his own square one or whatever the fuck.
Cool. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna, I'm gonna wait till seven o'clock tonight and I'm gonna go live and start inviting people on my show. So, you know, what's going on? What happened?
He just, he just done with you? He just can't take you anymore? You're in the office too much? Who's going to say are we on?
I am, I am as in the dark as you guys are. This was just thrown on me. It was all secretly done. All secretly done.
It was, he went rogue on me. I don't know. Wow. That's hurtful, man.
I'm really sorry. At this point, I feel like you should get a tattoo across your chest. that says fuel. I got Richie right in front of me.
I'm going to replace Hector with Richie. He's going to be the new Heckle. Wow. You know, I should do that.
I should do it. Heckle and Jekyll. At 7 o'clock, Heckle and Jekyll lives. Heckle and Jekyll.
Series 2. Let's do it. Richie, we got to do it. Without Heckle.
No, you are the new Heckle. So there's two. So will Hector... Apparently Jekyll wasn't replaceable.
Oh, there you go. So is Hector still making a show, or what? Well, you know, Hector and Jekyll have been on hiatus. Yeah.
And apparently he felt the need to go solo on me. Wow. Quite hurtful. Quite hurtful, I'm not going to lie.
It's like a chess game. Like, he played this out. He's like, you know what, I'm just not going to do a show for a little bit. We'll let this kind of die down.
Then I'm going to rise like a phoenix with my own show amongst the ashes of the Heckle & Jekyll show. Put the big Espinosa E in front of it and everything. Wow. Yeah.
It was like proper marketing on that one. It's insane. This is something else. I mean, you know, you're always in the office.
You're in the chair, the nice comfy chair all the time. You didn't even see it coming. I didn't see it coming, dude. Wow.
I saw it advertised there on social media, like you guys did, and... Well, thank goodness I tagged Jack, or you might not even have seen it. He wouldn't even know, he'd just show up on the podcast, like, what are we doing? Oh, I'm not on.
Why is Hector's seat empty? I'm gonna go on there tonight and ruin his show. And troll the hell out of him. Sit outside the office door and just bang on it or something.
Oh, he's gonna be doing it from his tiki hut in the backyard. Oh, even better, stand in the background. Dude, yeah, it totally crashed his house. Just yelling, "Are we on?
" Hector, Hector, let me in. " What happened? Is that 7? Let's see, am I doing it at 7 o'clock?
I'm gonna be on at 7 o'clock. Please remind me if I forget, if I'm not on at 7 o'clock. You know, I guess Hector wanted to do a show where, you know, it's one of those wrapper binder filler, wrapper binder filler. Oh, jeez.
Oh, jeez. There's not enough of those out there. There's not enough of those. Oh, right.
I guess he wanted to do one of those where he explains the wonders that are Hector the Blender. Oh, the master blender. Yeah. I provide color commentary.
I guess it's not needed on that. Wow. Hurtful. Yeah.
He hasn't even addressed it. Mike has ignored my comments on social media, where I told him about the cease and desist, the non-compete, and then today I replied to Mike, seeing if I could troll him into that conversation, he ignored that too. Just not engaging. Not engaging at all.
And that's like the biggest, boldest, power move, fuck you move, you could possibly do, is like not engage. Oh, it is. It is. You know?
Can you imagine if Palmer just started doing shows? Well, he does. Well, he does. He fucking does.
But we still do this one too, though. He's got the shit show and all the other stuff. And I didn't stop doing this one. You know, hey, listen, if I'm replaced, don't worry, Jack, me and you, we partner up, we fucking crush everybody.
Who's gonna run the gear? Neither one of you know what you're doing. I have no idea. I'm not using your computer.
Maybe I replace you with Jack. So who runs the gear now, Palmer? Oh, yeah, I always run the gear. Yeah, I don't know how to turn anything on.
So it can't be that fucking hard, buddy. Oh, yes. Hope Jack's show does really well tonight. Yes, get him.
I mean, Hector's show. Hector's show, yeah. Hope Hector's show does really well tonight. You got him all frazzled.
I wasn't expecting a stab in the back. He's low on nutrients, man. He can't eat. He hasn't been able to eat.
Yeah, he can't eat. I got food poisoning over the weekend. I haven't had anything to eat in two days. So he's dying over here.
That's what you call a shot across a bow, my friend. That's it. Yeah, I'm kidding. Wow.
Dude. Well, you know what? Hey, listen. If things go sideways and you want to come in every once in a while and do like a fuck The Fuck That Guy segment on our show, you are always welcome here, sir.
Well, I appreciate it, I appreciate it. A special guest. You can even call in. Yeah, you call in with the Fuck That Guy, we can review something.
We can do Hector every time you call in, too, if you want to do Fuck That Guy Hector. We could analyze Hector's show from the following week. Oh! Here's where he fucked up, and then just fucking.
I put a Matt Damon here. We've run out of time for Hector. Yeah, just pelt the hell out of him. I think it'd be fantastic.
That would be funny. Yeah. I mean, I truly enjoy trolling all the other podcasts. Oh, yes.
That's amazing. Well, hopefully you guys will not participate in his new show. We will not engage. No, just for the trolling.
Yeah. Just enough to give him a hard time. Well, Jack, we wish you the best, sir. We're sorry that you, again, have been fueled.
Yeah. And, you know, I'm starting to see a pattern here, and I feel terrible. And, you know. I appreciate it.
This is about the right time, too, isn't it? The duration has been about the same. Yeah, it's about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, two and a half years I had called Jack when it was over. That's it. If Eric comes in, I mean, shit. Yeah, quickly leave.
Go home. Do not have a conversation with Eric at all tonight. Can you meet me at the office at eight in the morning? No, nope, nope.
I'm out of town. I'm out of town selling your cigars. I'm really busy. God damn it.
All right, brother. All right, man. Be easy. Talk to you later, bud.
Bye. Love that. Poor Jack. On Exclusive, on the demise of the Heckle & Jekyll Podcast.
Yes. It's very serious. All right, Room 101 Luxury Cigar Club collaborate on Cherubs. Oh, Cherubs.
This might be what fueled the Matt Booth problem that we talked about on some other show, I believe. Oh, okay. Room 101 Luxury Cigar Club are teaming up to release a new project called Cherubs. This is the part of the Johnny Tobacconist story, Tobacconaut, sorry, the line debuts with two cigars.
Cherub one is named Scarlet Hog, while Cherub two is called Chicken. The pair are billed as a head-to-head set of cigars. They use the same wrapper and filler, though the filler ratio is different between the two cigars to create similar but unique experiences. The blend features a Nicaraguan wrapper, Indonesian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua's Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli regions.
69 per cigar, and both are offered in packs of five, with 1,000 packs produced in each line. A. Cherubs. By Room 101, a Luxury Cigar Club will be available through Luxury Cigar Club and its preferred retail partners at the end of May.
The Luxury Cigar Club is now taking pre-orders with its website. Oh, very nice. That's something. I think I have my other winner here.
Oh, do you? Yes. Excellent. I believe I do.
I have one more story. This is a... We're going to go with... I'm a Florida story.
Let me see how... It's a newer Instagram page, so... We are going to go with TheCigarTheologian on Instagram, TheCigarTheologian. com, for your ashtray.
Congratulations. Congratulations. You are the second winner of the Yo Mama Jokes. So, we now have two.
So that's all you have was two? I gave two winners, yeah. Oh no, that's fine. Just making sure you got everything covered.
Well, I had two. I'd put it on Instagram and on Facebook. Oh. So like...
Oh, one from Facebook and one from Instagram. Yeah, yeah. So I wanted to... That seems fair.
Yeah. Right. You know, I didn't want to exclude anybody. Oh, I get you.
There you go. You're two winners. The woman bangs on a coffin during her own funeral. Oh, my goodness.
Family and friends at a funeral. Is this in Florida? Peru. But it was too good to pass up this story.
I could say it was Florida. Florida, man. Family and friends at a funeral in Dade County were shocked when the woman being laid to rest suddenly began banging on the inside of her casket. Wow.
According to reports, the woman, Rosa Istabel Castelledo Calaca. Calaca. Calaca. C-A-L-L-A-C-A.
Calaca. She was involved in a terrible car crash late last month and took her brother-in-law's life and left her three children badly injured. Doctors believed Mrs. Kalaga was also killed in the accident and the family scheduled a funeral for the following day.
However, not wasting any time, let's get her in the ground. She's moving on. Moving on. As those in attendance were paying their respects, they were stunned when they started hearing a banging on the inside, coming from inside the casket.
Oh my god. Hello? Hello? Was she speaking?
The family demanded the funeral director open the coffin, which is when they discovered that the dead woman had opened her eyes. Holy shit. She was alive, but in a fragile state. Kalaka was rushed to a hospital, placed on life support, and sadly passed away a short time later.
Oh, well, she just left her in a coffin. " Family is now demanding answers from the hospital. Well, the problem is, sir, we thought she was dead. And apparently, look, we were correct.
Man, you know what? She was dead. Man, you really fucked that up. Oh, that's right, that's when, uh...
He's going like, nah, fuck that guy. Nope, wrong one. I mean, you guys fucked that up. Yep, that's what they did to the doctor, and the doctor went, you know what?
He's going like, eh, fuck Ms. Kalaka. She's dead now. She's dead, she's dead.
We were right. I told you she was dead. But she wasn't dead earlier, sir. I'll prove it.
What a way to go out. Huh? You're like, wait a second. Oh, this is a coffin.
Yeah, you wake up. Wait, what's up? Hello? Am I dead?
Wow. Well, she thought she was dead. Like, this is how it works, you know, I wake up, and now I'm trapped in a coffin the rest of my life. Oh, that sounds terrible.
Boots loves talking about death. He's a Boots guy, a death guy. It's Phil. It's Phil.
Phil doesn't like talking about death. It freaks him out a little bit. Wow. Did you see the movie "Old School"?
Yeah, a hundred years ago. No, it wasn't, it was just, no, no, not that old school. The one where Charlize Theron is the person, they can't kill them, or whatever. They live forever, and they help move stuff around.
I think I did see that. I saw that during COVID, right? It might have come out during COVID. I don't know.
They were like gods or whatever. But they can die, but it's hard for them to die. No, no, they don't die until they lose the magic or something, and then they can die. Yeah.
So one of those, in the early days, they didn't know what they were. They thought they were witches or whatever. So they put this one lady in this metal coffin with an open face, and they drop her in the water somewhere. Yes.
So then she dies from drowning, but then she wakes back up. Right. But then she dies from drowning, and wakes back up. Right.
That's terrible. That's kind of like Ms. Kalakas. Yeah, kind of like Ms.
Kalanga. Ms. Kalakalaka. I wonder if they, like, you know, put her in the coffin the second time she's dying with.
All right, guys. Sorry about that. Funeral is today. You sent out funeral announcements again?
We're gonna do it again. Yeah. You sure? Well, they already paid for everything.
I demand a refund. Why? And if I'm the funeral, I double charge. Double charge.
Double charge. It wasn't their fault. There's additional fees for another funeral. Yeah, but the hospital's dead.
I have a piece of paper here. Look, it says Miss Kalaka dead. Dead? It's just got the date scratched off, and then they put the new date on.
Same thing. She's dead. She's dead. Poor Miss Kalaka.
Miss Kalaka. Alright, that's all I got. You got a Listener of the Week, Michael? Uh, let's see.
Listener of the Week. Oh, you know what? I have a new shop of the week. Oh, I had a shop of the week.
We'll talk to you later. Do you? Yes. I don't, but I have to take this call.
So, pause it real quick? Well, it's over. We can just go. All right.
Let's go. All right. We'll talk to you later. Bye.
