Cigar Hustlers Podcast Episode 261 - Ya Ya Ya Ya Boom!

Cigar Hustlers Podcast Episode 261 - Ya Ya Ya Ya Boom!

Episode Summary

Episode 261 of the Cigar Hustlers Podcast opens with the crew — Michael "The King" Szczepankewicz, producer Mike "BDP" Palmer and cameraman Phil — decompressing after Christmas. They tease the Patreon review of the Blueprint cigar from the Burn Down Podcast (a 5x54 they had to hunt down online), swap holiday stories about elves, building a basketball hoop, family drama over withheld gifts, and the Polish Christmas Eve tradition of opłatek (the shared wafer and well-wishes). Michael also mentions cutting back from seven cigars a day to one for cholesterol reasons, and previews an upcoming guest, Logan from SmokeRx, a vitamin claiming to counteract the effects of nicotine.

The bulk of the episode is a two-week catch-up news block. The Premium Cigar Association has launched its first international grassroots campaign in Canada via CigarAction.org, mobilizing retailers and consumers against proposed Health Canada warning labels. El Septimo dominates the headlines: the company named Kevin Pitosa — a ten-year J.C. Newman credit manager — as Director of Business Development and Credit, and announced a second U.S. lounge at 5403 Hollywood Boulevard in the former Ash membership lounge, opening January 2023, with more planned for Florida, Chicago and Arizona. The hosts riff extensively (and satirically) about landing an El Septimo lounge deal of their own.

Other news covered: Espinosa Premium Cigars and Guy Fieri's Knuckle Sandwich Connecticut, an Ecuadorian Connecticut-wrapped Nicaraguan puro-filler cigar made at AJ Fernandez's factory, shipping in January ahead of TPE 2023, plus a recap of the Knuckle Sandwich Habano, Maduro and Chef Special. La Flor Dominicana's TAA Golden Salomon pair begins shipping at $35 per cigar, prompting the guys to set a 2023 goal of becoming a TAA account. They also discuss Ohio's Senate bill blocking cities like Columbus from banning flavored tobacco, and 2023 price increases from Perdomo, J.C. Newman and Habanos S.A. — including a discussion of consumer price resistance around the $14–$15 mark.

The show closes with a Shop of the Week nod to Boss Cigars (Corinto/Mickey Pegg event tie-in), Listener of the Week Josh from Lake Country Cigars, a thank-you to RoMa Craft for a Christmas package, and the usual Patreon pitch.

543, you just doing it. 3, 2, 1. Camera on you, camera on you. Welcome to the Cigar Hustlers Podcast, episode 261, 261.

With your host, Michael the King, Stepon Kevich, and his producer, Mike BDP Palmer. And me, I'm Phil, your cameraman. I'm the poster child for the pro-choice movement. The holidays have just passed.

You need to put your decorations away? Where will you put them? In the attic? Why, attics are dirty.

They get extremely hot and not good for your cherished holiday ornaments. And trips to the attic can be dangerous. To stop the traditional madness and eliminate the trips to the attic and the emergency room by installing A Rack Above, A Rack Above is a huge freestanding overhead garage storage system that creates a four-foot mezzanine across the entire garage, the entire width of your garage rack, A Rack Above creates massive unobstructive overhead storage where you can see and reach your belongings without the risk of falling off a ladder. A rack above is constructed of lightweight aluminum, it's easy to assemble, will not rust, and will fit in your garage today, as well as your next garage of tomorrow.

Did I mention you can assemble it in less than an hour with just one wrench? That's right, you heard me, just one wrench. This year, buy yourself and your wife the gift of a lifetime, a rack above portable overhead storage. com.

There you go. Only one wrench, huh? Only one wrench in an hour. What do we got for the Patreon, Michael?

Today, we are smoking the Blueprint by, um, uh, what's the name of the show again? Burndown Podcast. Burndown Podcast. Oh man.

We're reviewing the Blueprint. So, they, they triggered you is what you're saying. What, what? Well, it's probably the only five pack they've sold.

What shadow realm did you find these on? because I've looked for them. I couldn't find them on mine. I think the name of the website was Foxfire or something like that.

Foxfire. Yeah. Okay. All right.

I can find anything on mine. Wow. Oh. You had to go dark web for these.

Yes, yes. I'm impressed. Let me tell you what it weighs in. It did not come with a phone call from the guys that burned down, which I thought it might.

4 grams. It's a 5x54. Oh, that seems okay. It feels all right.

We'll see. We'll see. If you guys want to know what we thought, You can always join the Patreon, fellas. Yeah, you should sign up for the Patreon and give us your money.

Get some information you might be able to use on your show. Support us. Support us. And then, like, we use halfway up, you can use us.

A little trickle-down theory. I cut back on smoking. Because you've been sick. Yeah, well, that too, but I brought it down to like one a day.

Oh, why is that? My good cholesterol is a little low. I want to get that up. From seven to one?

Yeah, cut back from seven to one. How's the industry going to survive? I don't know. Your shop is going to thrive now with the extra six cigars a day that aren't just taken.

Wait, wait, wait, are you good cholesterol that smoking affects that? HDLs, yeah. Oh, I didn't know it. Yeah, but like one or two a day, shouldn't bother it, but like six or seven probably.

This week, any other show, we're having Logan on from SmokeRx, it's a vitamin that counteracts the effects of nicotine in your blood. SmokeRx? Yes. It's a vitamin.

It's a vitamin. I don't know, that sounds like fuckery to me, bro. See, he's on his shows. Okay.

I looked him up, I just happened to come across him on Instagram, I pictured a smaller, you know, vitamin-maker kind of looking guy. Yeah. Oh, he's bigger than you. Oh, he's a big guy.

He's a big guy, works out and lifts weights and he's very tall. Wait a sec, describe a vitamin guy. Well, you know, I think maybe a little nerdy, kind of look like a pharmacist type, you know, type look thing, you know, not a six-foot-tall Michael. When was the last time you've been in a GNC?

GNC sells them, they don't make them. Have you seen the guys that sit in the labs that mix up all the little things? Yeah. They don't look like weightlifters.

Well, I have questions. Well, if we have them on the show, you can ask me all sorts of things next week. Haven't you ever seen the movie with Mark Wahlberg? Again, he does not make the vitamins.

What's the vitamin that removes? I don't want it removed. Well, it might help your HDL thing. I mean, what'll help my HDL thing is just smoking a little bit less And eating more fish.

I mean, you know. Well, yeah. The fish oil thing. Yeah.

Which I forgot to take this morning. Damn. Some avocados. Why don't you just keep a bottle here?

I used to take those and I could taste, I would burp up the fish oil. It was terrible. Yeah. Ugh.

It's good for you though. Not the burping. Take a bottle of what now? Why don't you just leave a bottle here?

Because I like to take all my shit in the morning and be done with it. Just put it in that little baggie you take. Yeah. Brini's been on strike this week for the baggies.

Too much going on. Oh. You know, you could always put 'em in the bag yourself. I know that's, I know, I can explain how that worked, if you like, with the opening the bottles and counting out the pills and everything.

You know, bring 'em all here, I'll do it! See, that's how he knows that he fucked up by saying that, he's walking in the bag. He's like, oh, I'll take care of that for you. Oh, backpedal, backpedal, backpedal.

Okay, I don't have the energy to address that today, so I'm just gonna fucking let it go. It's always Christmas, gentlemen. Everybody have a nice Christmas? I'll tell you what, man.

You know, I love Christmas, so Christmas was fun, excuse me. But I will say, it just felt like, it just feels like work nonstop. It's very warm. It's all fucking day.

Yeah. I understand. I understand. See, you make one comment, and all of a sudden you're getting hot.

I was getting hot before. Yeah. It's your HDLs. My HDLs are very low.

Your HDLs are low? Very low. Yes. So, dude, it just felt like, for one, I had this sneezing attack that went fucking nuts on me, and that's what I'm dealing with, but it just felt like it would roll into another thing, into another thing, and there was no, like, sit down and chill, you know?

Yeah, it wasn't very Christmassy for me this year. Well, your kids aren't around. Right. One of them came by Christmas Day, stayed the night.

The Manny and I built a basketball hoop outside, and that took fucking several hours, it was a motherfucker. To build a hoop? Oh, yeah. Those things are no fucking joke.

And what was really funny is that as you're kind of building it, like you go through the instructions and you make sure that you have everything dialed in, all of a sudden you turn a page and it says, okay, and now you're completely assembled through your poles. I'm like, wait a second, where did that happen? Where did that part? I have extra parts.

I turned the page and all of a sudden it was all set up. You didn't have that. There was no step for that. It didn't jump to that, right.

And now you've done that last step when you looked at it, it should look like the next page. And now you've figured out this segment. I'm like, wait a second, we didn't even do that segment. What the fuck?

Were you missing a page? No, no, no, no. Were they out of order? It was like one, two, three, four, five, six.

5 or something. I don't know. Number seven says, congratulations, you're finished, and you're looking at it on the ground going, no, no. Not your standard Chinese booklet.

Yeah, not your Swiss, Ikea, fucking ridiculous. Now you build a hoop. I'll tell you what, though. Jax loves a fucking thing.

He's been out there for the past three days just shooting hoops by himself. You know? Nice. He tried to D up on me.

I fucked him up. Actually, he did pretty good. I'm not going to lie. But I still did a lot of it.

You can dunk. I didn't let him win. Is it regulation height? It was regulation height.

Well, you're like seven of them. I'll tell you what, though, man. This motherfucker. He's boxing him out.

But no, he's good between the legs and all that shit. He does all that cutesy shit or whatever the fuck. Nice. And then he delivered some shots where he was running and he would shoot far.

Like, as he's rolling, he's shooting out, and then he goes in and banks it off the fucking hoop. I'm like, okay, enough of that. That's not happening anymore. Enough of that.

I got to check him, trip him. Yeah. Oh, you want it to be a close game is what you're saying. Okay.

So then I just started fucking fouling him like crazy. I'm just kidding. But he's still lost. Elbow.

So that was cool. You know, but our Christmas decorations are gone already. Really? Really?

Oh, yeah. I assume mine will be gone when I get home. Really? Yeah.

Yeah. Brittany went fucking ham. The tree's still up, but everything else is gone. Is that normal?

Yeah, it seemed a little, yes, but it seemed a little ahead of schedule. Premature. Yeah. I don't know what happened.

She went fucking, she went nuts. It's not like everybody was just ready to get it over with this year. Moving on. Yeah, moving on.

Moving on. Next thing now. Now, well, now we're debating about the whole New Year's thing because I don't know if you were invited, but Boots invited us to. Oh, no, no, I wasn't.

You weren't invited to that? I invited him. No, you said, what are you doing? And I said, I don't know yet.

And then that was the end of the conversation. I'm pretty sure I put it out to everybody. Nope. You never invite me.

Oh, shit the fuck. Never invite him. Phil doesn't. Phil doesn't invite me?

Phil doesn't invite me normally. Oh, okay. Boots tells him to, and then he just never does. Never does.

Fucked up. Right, I know. So I don't know what we're going to do with that, but we'll see. The Elf, I don't know, we talked about this on the Patreon.

Excuse me. Oh, the new one? Yeah. the new one.

Yeah. And told me the name. Yeah. Elsa arrived.

Elsa. Right. Yeah. Ran through the whole thing for Christmas.

Yeah. The day before. Day before. Oh, so now we got a duo for next year.

What was the one thing else? Cause they do things right. The next morning. Yeah.

So, well, it was Christmas Eve when, when she had appeared. So she arrived with little presents for everybody because normally Santa comes in right on Christmas Eve, but Santa did not. Oh, that's right. Oh, you had no Santa.

I had no Santa. Santa didn't attend. I'm not big enough and the kids know me. You have a beard.

The kids will know right away. You could have made it work. You could have changed your voice. " No, I didn't want to ask you.

You're good at changing your voice, Palmer. I don't know, because I wanted you to come and hang out and whatever, for one. And for two, yeah, but you came, but you didn't bring Adrian. Right, we had double booked for the night, so we split the responsibilities.

But it wasn't like a requirement to show up to my house for Christmas Eve. I was just thinking you guys had... Yeah, but I told you twice we were coming. Yeah, but you had nothing going...

" But like, if you weren't coming, it wouldn't have been a big deal. I didn't really want to go to the office. That's fair. I get that.

I can respect that. " Yeah. Yes? I'm sorry, I drew a blank.

Oh, who was it the year before that? Uh, uh, Matt Denny. Yeah, Matt Denny was one, it was our first original. He wasn't last year's?

Last year, we had the Grinch show up. Oh, oh, who was the Grinch? The Manny, and the, and, you know, and Jax is very suspicious about all, he still vets them to this day. Yeah, I mean, he still brings it up.

Do the Grinch voice for him. Jax is fucking relentless about that sort of thing, so, uh, yeah, there's just no, he's, there's no letting it go. so we couldn't do that right and i couldn't jump in because he would know and i don't want i mean he's getting to that age but i don't want him to fuck it up for the other two right especially teddy right you know because he could be an asshole you know what i mean brother right they're boys man he's at that age he's at that age you know where oh so uh so the bop she did something that was That was fucked up. Oh.

Oh, yeah, I might as well bring this up. Oh, what'd she do? Oh, let's hear it. 'Cause I may drop the hammer on this if this happens again.

We're gonna do a close up. So, Babshi and Jax, Babshi and Jax, they don't, they go, they're buttheads all the time. Right? Right?

You've mentioned that on the show before. Yeah, so that's my mother, by the way. In the Polish, we call her, grandmother means Babshi. Babshi, right.

" Oh. Yeah, she's like, okay, good. Touche. " Aww.

How fucked up is that? Well, she warned him. So, he started to cry. Aww.

Yeah. 'Cause he's fucking nine. Right, yeah. You know what I mean?

He was trying to call her bluff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want one anyway. Yeah, exactly.

He was just being nine. Yeah, he's, he's, he's, he's, she's still got one. It's fine. It's my grandma.

Yeah, it's grandma. I had to pull her side. Hey, don't ever pull that shit again. Don't fucking do that.

She didn't have one in the trunk or something? She did. She did. She gave it to him afterwards.

But that's fucked up. But she wanted him to feel the pain first. Yeah, what the fuck? I'm like, hold on.

You won't be mean to me again. I'll raise my fucking kids. Thank you very much. You don't need to teach them a fucking lesson.

You know, Michael, tell us how you really feel. I am. I'm letting you know right now. I feel like this has happened to you before.

This is some deep-seated shit. Yeah. I mean, listen, if you really want to fucking, if you want to tap into my Christmas experiences, you need to go listen to El Oso Fumar from fucking last week, the Christmas special. You'll be like, damn, there's some fucked up shit there.

So, but you know, how would you feel if your mother did that shit to one of your kids? We never talked to her again. You'd be like, you're off the fucking reservation. You'd fire her.

You know what? We need to go to the train station. We're going to take you to the train station. You know what I mean?

Like that's fucked up. What did she, Michael's family does this thing at Christmas. That was great. The wafer thing.

The aplatech. What did she say to you? I was trying to work my way around that way to the room. I want to hear what she said.

What she said to me? Yeah. I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't remember.

And it probably wasn't sincere anyways. I'm not familiar with this wafer though. Yeah, you're Polish too. Or Boots is at least.

Yeah, Boots is. Phil's probably Irish. Phil's Swedish. Phil's Swedish.

And then you and Greg were both laughing hysterically trying to say something nice to each other. You know, we've had, like, we've had those moments where they were kinda, like, a little bit deeper in the past with my brother and I and Leo Plautech, I just feel like there's just so much fuckery at this point, you know what I mean, that it's just hard to... You were trying to say something nice, you're laughing, he's trying to say something nice, he's laughing. You're very good, and I wish you the best, you know, I don't know.

Oh, Greg was there. Yeah. Yeah, Greg and Alex were there. Yeah, for Christmas Eve.

Okay, so they do this thing, everybody gets this, sort of like a big... It's called a Plautech. Is that what the thing is called? Yeah.

Well, it's like a big square communion wafer. It's a wafer. Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Everybody has one.

You go around, you snap a little piece off of theirs. Correct. They snap a little piece off of yours. Uh-huh.

And then you exchange something nice. You say something nice to each other. Oh, okay. I've seen that.

I just didn't know what it was called. You wish them well into the next year or whatever the case may be. I used to see my grandmother when I was little. Yeah.

I could tell you what I said to her. " You know, you've been really good, then she went ahead and fucked it up. Yeah, right, oh, that's it, did you fuck it up? I'm like, now we're back at, I knew I shouldn't have said anything, we're fucking back at square one.

Too soon, too soon, too soon, too soon. So, yeah, but you know, I think that it's cool, you know. Hey, it's nice, it's nice. It's, I'll tell you what, it is very fucking stressful building up to it, like, if you know that this is gonna happen.

Yeah, 'cause I mean, I had no idea until it started, so it was a little awkward, 'cause I don't know everybody. Right, right, right, but you're gonna say, "Hey, you know, we're not close, Yes, but I wish you a happy new year. I wish you a happy new year and good luck next year. Yeah.

Yeah, that sort of thing. Right. You know? But you can say a couple of things that are, you know, meaningful to people too, which is nice.

Right. I got a lot of podcasts. I love your podcast. Yeah, good luck with your podcast.

You're very successful. Yeah. I got a lot of those. You're a very successful podcaster.

Very successful podcaster. Right. This is true. So yeah, Vigilia, Oplantec.

I'm ashing everywhere. With the ashtray right there. It's a standard day. It's just right, the king, just put this over there in the middle.

You know what it is? It's just that this is obviously short filler. Short filler. It's falling off everywhere.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here. I'm a burned down podcast. Oh, did you get a present? You know what they say?

You know what they say, Michael? What? If you aim at the king, best not miss. Well, they aimed at the jester, so...

I just loved Ronnie. They didn't aim at the jester. They took the shot at me. I guess you're right.

Right. Don't fuck with my people. Yeah, right. So, did your mom get you a present?

uh just a children i don't know uh yeah i think she got us forks because my kids throw away all our forks oh they throw away all my well that's a very specific gift that you have to pay attention what do you want to get forks we need more forks i think she got us something else i don't know yeah i don't know dude none of that shit registers for me i'm like you know i think that dudes are the hardest fucking people to buy for for one you know i mean my wife did well this year yeah brittany bought me some nice things but i asked her not to buy me things but she still bought me Oh, of course. Right. I'm really excited. She bought me a fucking nitro growler thing for coffee.

Oh. Yeah. What, you make your own thing? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Oh. Which looks pretty good. That's nice. Yeah.

So I'm excited about that. Oh, a lot of nitro coffee. Yeah. What did you get?

I got some clothes and that kind of stuff, but I had asked Adrian when she went on a cruise. I want a picture of you. You know, they take the... Oh, you've never been on a cruise.

But they take photos on the cruise. Like Titanic? Slightly naked? No, no, no, no.

But there's normally a night where you dress up. Right. Take a nice photo of you by yourself when they take the formal dinner things. But she went a step further, and she did like a little photo shoot with the photographer, and I got three 8x10s, very beautiful pictures of her, two black and whites in a color.

They're very nice. Oh, that's nice. So here's what you got to do. When she goes out to work one day, you got to fucking take the picture and then just put it right up on the ceiling when you go to bed.

They're already hanging on the floor. So when you lay down, you're like, oh, now I can look at you all day. They're on my side of the bed. I can just lay sideways.

They're right there. Oh, I still think we should do it on the ceiling. No, no, no. Come on.

No, no, no, no. I got a back phone thing. You know what that is? No.

I play video games on my phone sometimes at night. Yeah. It's this thing your phone snaps into and it has a controller on either side. Yeah, that's cool.

That was neat. Santa almost brought that for the kids, but that didn't happen. Oh, nice. I like the back phone thing.

Due to inflation, Santa was budgeting. You got anything good? Anything outstanding? Phil?

The booth, obviously. Your face is very tan. Is it tan? It's freezer burn, man.

It's different. When was he outside? He's always outside smoking. Yeah, I was outside last night.

Yeah, he had, Phil had people over. Didn't invite us. Was that last night? That was actually Christmas Day.

Phil's a busy guy. Yeah, I don't think that was last night. No, it was Christmas Day. You had people over doing videos and stuff from inside your house and calling other people and stuff.

I didn't do videos. No, no, your guest didn't. Oh. Huh.

Flaky. This sash is flaky. Um, I heard Boots got a cool present. Yeah, what did Boots get?

Boots is gonna go see Adam Sandler. Here, I got you guys a little something. Oh, I told you we weren't extending. It's not Christmas now, it's New Year's.

Oh, he got you. He's a cocksucker. Here, Phil. You're gonna have to get up and come get your hand it to Phil, whichever way you want to do it.

Let me, uh, let me move the cameras. I can see. It's nothing fancy, just a little sign of appreciation. You rat bastard.

All right, you first. M&M's. All the flavors. This is peanut butter.

All the flavors. This is peanut. So I can keep the calories going. What is this?

This is a new Christmas one. Snowballs. Snowballs. New winter.

It's got a pretzel inside. It's got a pretzel inside. Because you like M&M's. I do like M&M's.

I like the M&M's. Is this because... This has become a thing. Thank you very much.

You're welcome. It's very nice of you. Is this because the monthly visitor didn't show up with the M&M's for this guy? No, no, no.

He likes M&M's. If you're gonna get him candy, that's the kind to get him. Crease his pieces. Yeah, but those are like M&M's.

Yeah. But it wouldn't have been with a theme. It would have clashed. Skittles.

Again, no, I was going with M&M's, Michael. Sorry, next year I will give you an assortment. Okay. All right, Phil, go ahead.

Thanks. You like Skittles? Yeah, well, who doesn't like Skittles? I feel like I've offered you Skittles before and you didn't take them.

Because I try to eat right. He'll always eat the M&M's, though. But I will always eat the M&M's, that's true. I have seen that.

Oh, I like mine. When did you get him? I don't want to show you 'cause you want 'em. Follow 'em out.

Are they Skittles? No, no, he likes different candy. Look away, Michael. He's his pieces.

He likes different candy. Oh! He likes Blow Pops. But I won't eat the gum.

Right, he doesn't eat the gum. Yeah. Interesting. But he likes the Blow Pops.

And the Tootsie, yeah, I'd eat these too. Yeah. I just don't eat the Tootsie Roll. Don't eat the Tootsie Roll.

He likes the candy with the thing in the middle, the suckers. But he doesn't eat the stuff in the middle. Doesn't eat the stuff in the middle. You're a strange man.

It's, I mean, I don't know what it is, man. This is something I got going on here. Okay. Thank you.

Thank you, Palmer. You're welcome, Phil. Alright. Alright, so let's get going.

Was there anything fun and exciting in the news, or what? No, not fun and exciting. No. Because we had two weeks worth of news, so we could go back and do news.

Oh, yes, yes, indeed, indeed. From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need. The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report, with Mike Toon. BCA kicks off campaigning Canada, and the Premium Cigar Association has announced that it has launched its first campaign into Canada to mobilize and engage both retailers and consumers in the fight to support and defend the rights of cigar smokers.

So they're not getting enough money out of the United States, Mike. org as part of its International Action Center. They have International Action Center, and is currently calling on retailers and consumers to fill out that fill out that will allow them to contact their members of parliament with a call to encourage Health Canada to reconsider proposed new health warnings. The PCA believes that implementation of the new warning labels will impact Canadian consumers' access to international cigars.

Wow. Yeah, they're going international. How? I mean, that's so fucked.

Well, Canada. That makes them international. It's another country. I get it.

So I'm unfamiliar with this. With the PCH part? No, no, no. So normally they're here.

United States Organization, yes. Right. So now they're going international. Well, Canada.

They're trying to. They're trying to. Okay. So what would that mean for like the convention thing in Vegas?

Does that change anything? Nothing. Maybe Canadians there. There are Canadians there now.

Yeah. The international people visit anyway to buy the cigars. Oh, no. McTavish.

Oh, no. Yeah, he's media. He's Canadian. Yeah, but he's not there on a buying thing, though.

He's there doing-- Like, oh, no. He's there running around saying, oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no.

I'm from Canada. A little bit of reality. I haven't heard that in a while. El Septimo names Kevin Pitosa, new director of business and development and credit.

Oh. What is business credit? Money. Did we miss an opportunity with El Septimo?

To what? To carry them? To get a job for a ridiculous amount of money. I think so.

You know what I mean? I think so. Well, there's another story. Hey, you know, I don't mean to brag, El Septimo.

There's another story we may be able to work down on. 2 million salary. I'll fucking get this thing going. El Septimo is announcing Kevin Pitosa will be joining the company.

He'll be joining the company as new Director of Business Development and Credit Position. He will begin at the first of the year. Until they figure it out. I've been hearing about El Septimo continuously from customers and retailers as the company to watch, not only for its incredible product portfolio, but for its fast-growing salary and aggressive marketing.

No, you haven't. He didn't put up a salary in. Yeah. He said Pitosa in a press release.

It's a pleasure to join the team and be part of their aggressive growth plan and accomplishments. Okay. So, basically, he knows nothing about the company, but he's heard about them. I've heard great things.

I mean, dude, we could totally fucking, that's what I'm saying. I don't understand. C. Newman.

I'm gonna submit an application. He's a what? C. Newman as credit manager.

How long is he enrolling that for? 10 years. So what does that mean? I don't know what a credit manager is either.

Hey man, you're fucking past your terms on your net 30, time to pay up? I guess so. Bro. Maybe he fills out all the credit cards.

How do you jump from fucking accountant to marketing? Oh yeah, business development. He's working on business development and he fills out all the credit card forms. We need another credit card.

Okay, I'll get right on it. I feel like I'm more qualified and I feel like I need to be paid quadruple whatever he's getting. Believe me, we'll turn it around. It's just a matter of time.

It would work so well. I could bullshit at least 18 months out of that gig. Oh, easy. Solid.

You know what I mean? So what have you been doing? Well, you know, and then I would fucking give a whole spiel. It would sound really good.

A lot of buzzwords. Yeah, yeah, a lot of buzzwords. And they'd be like, alright, good, okay, good, you know, I've tapped into this. El Septimo sounds like they may not speak English as a first language, too.

Yeah, exactly, exactly. What language, what language? El Septimo sounds Latin. I don't know.

I don't know, but then you know what, if things started to go sideways, I would start yelling like a gibberish, something that didn't make any sense at all. Start blaming someone else. And start throwing shit around in the room. I can't believe it, they're not doing what I said!

Yeah, and then just fucking in, you know, just move, like. For God's sakes, El Septimo! I could totally square this up. And I feel like I could get a solid salary out of it for at least a year and a half.

Probably. Yeah. And then I would make news again. Mike Szczepankewicz.

Leaves Elsa Timo. Yeah. He's looking for another position. We've decided to part ways.

I feel like I've given them 110% and they are now carrying on the torch without me. They don't need me anymore. Oh, yeah. I put them on their way.

Yeah. I have set them forth. I think it'd be amazing. On the journey to success.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, perfect. And then I'd fucking do a media thing. Mike Szczepankewicz purchases Ferrari.

Oh. Then we go into the second story. Elsa Timo's second lounge location opening next month in Hollywood. Yeah.

So we open the, we, upstairs becomes an Elsa Timo Lounge. There you go. Elsa Timo Lounge. Elsa Timo Lounge.

Yeah. First ever in Delta. Right. Yeah.

In Florida. Yeah. Elsa Timo's announced that it will be opening second retail store and lounge next month in Hollywood. The lounge will be located at 5403 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, which is currently the home of Ash.

Home of Ash, a membership-based cigar lounge that offers an environment conductive to working on those who aren't tied down to a traditional office, as well as space to welcome those looking to have a cigar in the company of fellow creative freelancers and entrepreneurs. So it was a workspace where you could smoke cigars. Right. Called Ash.

And now it's going to be, they're going to put big chairs in and bookcases and $15 million lighters. You want the lighter? Want the lighter? A spokesman for El Septimo Tall Cigar Houser podcast said the company has purchased the lounge and will be rebranding it as El Septimo Hollywood, is currently rescheduled to open El Septimo Hollywood in January of 2023.

Like the first lounge that was open in September is located in the company's headquarters in Woodland Hills, California. This location will have a membership component. Applications will become available in January and members will have access to all El Septimo lounges worldwide. Wow.

All two? Three of them? How many are there? Two.

Oh, worldwide? Yeah. I think three. Not counting the two in America.

Okay. Let's see, beyond the Woodland Hills, the Woodland Hills, the Woodland Lounge is in Europe and the Middle East. So you have to go over there. Okay.

Cool. With the ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay, boom. Those guys. We're on schedule of meeting our ambitious plan at opening 30, so we have 28 more to go, Michael.

We would like to throw our hat in, please, for an Elsa Timo lounge. We're ending here at the Cigar Hustler. We will call Elsa Timo's Cigar Hustler. Six million dollars.

Easily, yes, six million dollars. Six, yeah. Six, that's fine. We give Greg two to go away, and we keep going.

That's like two lighters. Right. We just got to sell two lighters. Yeah.

It's a great idea. We are unscathed. Oh, we read this. It said Zaya Yonan, CEO of El Satimil Cigars.

Zaya. Is that a guy or a girl? I don't know. I don't know either.

Aye, aye, aye, aye, though. Can you pause this real quick? Sure. Right back there.

Do I pause on here? Nah, let that go. The company said it's currently focused on plans to launch additional lounges in Florida. Oh, could be us.

Could be us. Oh, cross your fingers. Chicago, Arizona is planning to announce its next lounge in two months. Okay, so that would be February.

Make a phone call line. Just makes me think of fucking Goodwill Hunting. Retainer. You know what I mean?

Like, we could totally fucking ride this out. Sure. Yeah, no, it would be a good fit for you. In a month and a half, we put out a press release that we're in the new El Subtimo Lounge.

They are so embarrassed that they just go with it. Yeah. And we tell the price, too. Yes.

10 million dollars. 10 million dollars, right. 10 million dollars. El Subtimo.

Buys Private Lounge in Deltona. Buys Private Lounge in Deltona. $10 million. $10 million.

$10 million. Previously known as the Alpha Lounge, will now be called El Cetimo, Florida. Great. $10 million.

Just keep saying $10 million. $10 million. $10 million, $10 million, $10 million. Knuckle Sandwich, Connecticut, slated for January release after Cigar Hustler Podcast gets $10 million.

Knuckle Sandwich and Cigar Light, created by Espinosa Premium Cigars, and celebrity chef Guy Fieri is getting a new version in the new year. New version in the new year. As today, the company announced the Knuckle Sandwich Connecticut, which is scheduled to release in January. Are we getting that?

Uh, I don't know. The cigar features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and a Nicaraguan-grown binder and filler. J. Fernandez, San Latino.

Alfredo doesn't talk to me about Espinosa stuff. Well, you can call Hector. I'll just get it, I'll just call Jack. It will be offered in three sizes, the...

Robusto Toro Corono, right? I gotta get him to walk around. Robusto, Toro, and Churchill. Churchill.

Yes. Interesting. Oh, wait, it is a Robusto J, short Churchill G, and a Toro H. Oh.

No idea? J, G, H. I do. What?

G is for Guy Fieri, J is for Jack Toronto, because that's the size he prefers, and H is for Hector. H is for Hector, he just spelled it wrong. That's the one that Hector likes. The letters that appear after the Vitola names are not too significant people in Fieri's life.

Yeah, so probably not Jack and Hector. Yeah, Jack and Hector. Probably not. Yeah, and then Guy himself.

Oh. Yeah. The cigars will debut in January at Espinosa Lounges in select accounts nationwide before being shown off at the 2023 TPE in February trade show, previously known as the Tobacco Plus Expo. Do you think we qualified?

We could be a select account nationwide. Are we a select account? I'm not sure. Are we a select account?

You can call Hector and ask. Hector, are we select? Are we select Hector? We would like to be selected, Hector.

We'd like to be a select account, Hector. Yes. Or, you know, at the show, we're gonna badger the hell out of you. Last year, Guy has shown his enthusiasm and commitment to our industry as the Knuckle Sandwich Line, said Eric Espinosa in the press release.

He is, oh, bro, he's excited about adding a Connecticut offer to the Knuckle Sandwich brand and providing yet another smoking option to its fans, bro. The Knuckle Sandwich Line, debuted in February 2022, was offered in two blends, the Knuckle Sandwich Habano, used in Ecuadorian Habano, and the Knuckle Sandwich Maduro, which uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra Maduro wrapper. At the 2022 PCA Convention Trade Show, a third and limited edition line was added, the Knuckle Sandwich Chef Special. That cigar, which was released over the summer, uses an Ecuadorian Habano risotto wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fill over.

5 to $52. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. La Flora Dominicana TAA, the Golden Salamone, began shipping. We're not getting those.

The Golden Salamone. The Golden Salamone. Okay. Just before the end of the year, a pair of new La Floridia Dominicana cigars are heading to...

La Floridia? La Flora Dominicana, sorry. Okay. La Floridia.

Sorry, I read it fast. I read it quickly. La Floridia. La Floridia.

We're getting into the Dominican Cigar Market, and we're going to make a new brand, it's called La Floridia. La Floridia, shipping to La Floridia, Dominicana, TAA, the Golden Salamone, the two different exclusive cigars retailers that are members of the TAA. Not us, we still can't get in. You know what, that's what I want in 2023.

We're going to be a TAA account. You want us to be that? Yes, that's what I want for 2023. I don't think that'll ever happen.

Why not? You just poison what's his name up in the panhandle. Poison him? Yeah, doesn't he have to die for somebody to move up, and then everything just shh?

He could actually endorse us if he wanted to. Oh, we should call him. Maybe. Oh, we're gonna go see him.

We're gonna go see him? You said we were? Yeah. I'm gonna ask.

We would like your endorsement. We'd like your endorsement to be a TA account, please, sir. Here is a Blueprint Cigar. Smoke this.

Smoke this. It's great. It's wonderful. 4 grams.

Short filler. Short filler. It falls off everywhere. It's the other end, Phil.

You light the other end. Well, they look the same. Let's see, this is the final year the company is using the Golden Blend concept for its TAA release, something that was created when the TAA celebrated its 50th anniversary, the 2023 La Flor Dominicana TAA. There's a lot of TAAs on the TAA.

They're very proud of the fact that it's a TAA cigar. The NSRP is set at $35 per cigar, and production is limited to 700 boxes of the Maduro and 400 boxes of the Natural, an increase from 750 boxes of the La Florina De Micano originally announced TAA Cigar. The TAA is a membership group which Cigar Hustler is becoming part of in 2023, and has approximately 41 manufacturers now. Okay.

Is anybody listening besides me? Yeah. Am I doing the show alone? No.

You're on your phone, he's over there lighting cigars. I'm lighting the cigar. Never mind. We'll just keep going here.

Just blah, blah, blah. We'll see that. Somebody's done a price increase. Somebody else did a price increase.

Somebody else did a price increase. Ohio legislature passes a bill prohibiting cities from banning flavored tobacco sales. I pulled this story because it's the complete opposite of what is going on everywhere. Everybody, Michael, I need your input here, sir.

Okay. Need your input? Yes. All right.

What is everybody doing with flavored cigars? Banning them. Except Ohio is making it illegal to ban them. As they should.

Yes. Good for you, Ohio. In favor of banning the sale, let's see, the Columbus City Council voted unanimously in the favor of banning the sale of flavored tobacco and vaping products within city limits less than 48 hours later and half a mile away, the Ohio Senate approved a bill that would make what the Columbus City Council did illegal. Good.

Good for you, Ohio. So, you know, they got a couple things going for them. They got the Hall of Fame for the football. Right.

Yep. And flavored tobacco. And flavored tobacco. It could be the vacation capital of the world now.

Yeah. I mean, you could probably buy, you know, a fucking 5,000 square foot mansion there for probably 100 grand. But that's just local, right? That's local legislature?

No, no. This is the Ohio Senate. Yeah. A local legislator banned it.

So that'd be federal. Yeah, local... No, no. It's still statewide.

It doesn't cover the entire country. Yeah. But like Columbus City Council said, no flavored tobacco in our city. Right.

And then the state Senate said, that's illegal. Flavored tobacco in every city. Now it could get more complicated. Yeah, I was just...

Because if it happens on a federal level... Right. Right, now if... " Are they allowed to do that?

Look at weed, bro. Yes. On a federal level, weed is illegal. On a federal level, weed is illegal.

Right. Tell that to fucking the 13 states that sell it at recreational fucking... You know what I mean? Like Oklahoma.

Like Oklahoma. Right. Where Dwight Manfredi is now the weed king of... Yeah, exactly.

I always thought the higher, like, that's what you would go by. No, not the way it works. It's supposed to. It's supposed to, but we're not a perfect country.

But, you know, the reality is that the federal government shouldn't really, like, there shouldn't be a federal law of the land. Right, shouldn't be able to regulate all of it. That was kind of a thing, that, you know, I mean, this stuff isn't hard, just listen to Dave Chappelle, he said fucking, you know, FBI's bullshit, he's like, heard that, been about that for fucking years, right? Shouldn't get to fucking swoop in.

Right. On a federal level, it's a state problem. They trashed Dwight's weed store, FBI did. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, federal level, federal level, heard that.

Right. They said, are they allowed to do this? Just listen to Dave Chappelle. No, they're not allowed to, but they did.

So what are we going to do? Just go listen to Dave. See what the problem is. Perdomo announces price increases for 2023.

Yep. C. Newman increased prices for 2023. Yep.

Habano's essay informs distributors of a price increase for 2023. Okay. Cigar Hustler and Posagna Cigars like to announce a price decrease for 2020. No, that's not going to happen.

There's definitely a price increase. increase. Do we change our mind? I'm sorry, we'd like to redact that statement, please.

There's definitely a price increase. Cost of manufacturing. Poshik Distributing would like to announce a price increase for 2023. Sorry, I read that wrong.

That was my mistake. Yeah, no. Sorry. Pay no attention to me.

I was like, oh shit, this is more. Everything costs more now. I like how every company justifies why they're doing it, and they all have different reasons. Yeah, well, I could tell you that it costs more to get the cigars.

Except Habano's essay, they just said they're doing it, they're not explaining why. We're raising our prices. We're raising our prices, so the Cuban cigars are going to cost more. Because fuck you, that's why.

That's right, because we can. I think you still have resistance around the $14, $15 price range. Oh, you think? Honestly.

C. 5 percent. Standard. 5 percent over everything.

Due to inflation. Perdomo was all over the place. A couple of pennies here, more pennies there, it depends on, I guess, That's what it was. Hmm, okay.

And Havana's is by brand. Different levels by brand. Right. This one, we feel like we could sell this one for more.

Yeah, this one's really popular. We can really check the price on this one. Yeah. Nobody smokes this one very much.

We're just in this little man. Right. All right. In Orlando, Florida, a 57-year-old man faces charges of attempted murder after stabbing another man over a bottle of cologne.

Oh, wow. What kind of cologne? Uh, they never, they never said it, but it was, it was made by, uh, Giorgio Armani, but they never said it specifically what it was. m.

C. C. Street, A man was stabbed and left with several wounds on his chest, arm, and leg. Mm.

" Wow. So, and that's the news. Boy, Jordan Omos, the WWE guy, he has a cologne problem. He's all about it.

He wears too much? No, he collects a bunch of them. Yeah, he goes nuts. I mean, too bad one of these guys weren't friends with him.

" Here, just have a bottle. Here's one. Don't worry about it. No need to stab.

Stab someone on something else. A gentleman that came into the shop that worked with Adrian that had a cologne buying problem. He came in with these five bottles that cost ungodly amounts of money. " And he put it on me, and I was coughing, it was terrible, I didn't know you smelled good.

It didn't smell good? No, it didn't smell good at all. I mean, Skip and Michael are all about that Creed life. Right.

Oh, the movies and the cologne? Yeah, the movies and the cologne. They're coming out with the Creed III. Yeah, I know, it's his brother that went to jail or something like that.

I don't know, I don't think I've seen any of the Creed movies. Oh, really? Yeah. They're good.

I'm just tired of watching Christmas movies. My wife's all about the Christmas movies. Oh, really? I got to slide one in.

A Christmas movie? Yeah. What'd you slide in? Oh, right.

Did you guys watch the new one? No. The Christmas Story? Oh, I did.

That was actually pretty good. Did you? Yeah. Was it?

It was cute. I didn't get to watch it. It was worth watching, just to tie it in. It's probably not going to happen for us.

I'm not going to lie. Christmas is over. Your house is debunked. Moving on now.

They got out of it. They didn't get to see It's a Wonderful Life either. Oh, that's a tradition at your house. That's my thing.

Yeah. Wow, that's sad. It is. Bob, you smashed that and wouldn't let you into it?

Yeah, exactly. I don't blame you at all, no wonder you don't like her. Yeah. " Yeah.

Oh, and then a little star, like, above him, like, raised up and sparkled. Right, his heart grew three sizes more than normally, swelled up with Christmas cheer. Oh, nope. Oh, what'd you get Brittany?

Nothing. Nothing? Got her shoes. Oh, is it just the shoes?

Mm-hmm. I'll get you something, Brittany, that'll be fine. And I got her wine glasses. Oh, I need to thank the people at Romacraft, I got my Christmas package.

Oh, you did, you did. Yes, I got my Christmas package. Why are we smoking those fuckers? Because we have to do these now.

Okay. Did you not get the cigars in your package? No, because you were breaking balls about it on the podcast, so he sent it to you. Well, the wine would have been sufficient, but I appreciate the extra effort.

Oh, you got everything and then tell us nothing? Oh, that's nothing? I got it. Well, I got it Christmas Eve.

It came Christmas Eve. I just didn't bring it today, because I brought these. Yeah. We'll do it.

We'll do it next week. I was going to ask you if you got one. I didn't know if you got them or not, too. The Gran Toros?

Whatever they are. It's a German one. No, no, no. Oh.

No, they're great cigars. I'm sure they are. I haven't had one yet. You know what?

I'm just the type of friend that wouldn't put that type of pressure on somebody. I didn't put pressure. I just wouldn't announce it on the national. You know, Skip and Michael always have my back.

They always look out for me. Yes, it's very nice. I'm very grateful for them. I weaseled a Christmas present out of them.

I'm sure they appreciated the weaseling. Whole nother level of weaseling. Whole nother level of weaseling. That's right.

I don't have to weasel with them. It's not like they called me when my dad died or anything, so it's at least... Whoa. Oh, Jesus Christ.

Let's throw that back out. Oh, we're about to open up Pandora. My goodness. My fucking goodness.

Hey, we're fine. Just give me a explain. They want to leave me alone. Give me time to grieve.

Just give me space. Yeah, just give me space. He's a very nice man. He was glad I didn't die when I had COVID.

Yeah. Very nice man. It's a unique process. Yes.

The whole dying thing. Yes. Oh, it's terrible. Oh, they're coming to Greg's wedding, too, so we'll see them soon.

Yeah. Great. The red wedding. Yes.

I'm sorry, you know. I'm sorry, I'm not calling you. You all right? He's dying to find out what I'm wearing, but I won't tell him further.

My suit came in a box. Did you try it on? Yeah, mine came in a final. I haven't tried it on yet.

Don't. Just wing it? Just wing it. Oh, don't do that.

I told them I had it narrowed down to two things: Superman outfit, or the Grim Reaper. Oh, the Reaper. " I'm gonna buy you the biggest sigh. Something authentic.

Right. Yeah, that you can just hold the whole time. Just hold the whole time. Hear ye, hear ye.

You should hold it, it'll be more. Hold this for me. No problem. No, you should just stand up there holding it.

Yeah. All right, we got anything else? Oh, we got a Shop of the Week. Shop of the Week.

We got a Shop of the Week. Oh, my Lord. I promised I would do this as a Shop of the Week this week. Oh, you have one?

Yes, yes, yes. What is Corinto's Shop again? Corinto's. Corinto, how do you say his name?

Boss Cigars. Boss Cigars, Shop of the Week, Boss Cigars. Really well put together on that. I could see it in my head, but I couldn't remember the name.

I drew a blank right here. Yeah. He sent me a Merry Christmas and I told him I'd make him shop of the week. Oh.

He goes, already? Which episode? I'll go listen and go, no, next week. Next week.

Relax. Come down easy, fella. Next week. I mean, you didn't even get his name right.

Carintho. How do you say it? Carintho. I was off by one letter.

You added an H. You threw an H in there. One letter. All right.

Maybe I have a lisp. Whatever you say. Whatever you say. Mikael.

Ooh. There is an H in my name. Yeah. M-I-C-H.

Mikael. So that would be Mitchell. M-I-K-E. All right, Mitchell.

Mitchell Mitchell Mitchell. I always wanted to spell my name M-I-K-A-L. It's Mikael. It would be Mikael.

It's Russian, Michael. He's from Mother Rush. Mother Rush. Mikael.

We'll call you the Mikael. Okay. You got anything else? We got 15 minutes.

By the listener. You're very disturbed. By the listener. Michael, we need a listener of the week.

God, come on. One thing. What's the January event upstairs? I don't know.

You told me the other day. There's a lot of hard questions. Mickey Pegg. Mickey Pegg.

Yeah, yeah. Oh, here we go. Hey, the fly is on your camera, Michael. Do it again.

Do it again. Do what again? Mickey Pegg. Oh, so close to the fly.

Mickey Pegg. No, no, no. I'll call it. Mickey Pegg.

Mickey Pegg. Mickey Pegg. What's his name? What's his cigar brain?

Um. I can't talk. Boss Cigars, Shop of the Week. Where you can find all of Mickey Pegg's wonderful cigars.

I don't know if he carries something. You heard it here first. I'm going to say LCC Josh, Lake Country Cigars. That's a shop where he did a shop.

No, Josh, the guy who works there. Oh, he's a listener of the week. He's a listener of the week. Oh, I didn't even do the gong.

All right, Mikey, it's going on you. Josh, from Lake Country Cigars, Listener of the Week. There you go. I mean, I could list a bunch of them.

Kyle, Eli. Oh, go ahead, we're just gonna read it out. Go ahead. Do you have 14 minutes worth of names?

No, I mean, I... You say the name and say one thing you like about them. And I'll give you a little piece of cellophane. You take a piece of this and say something nice about them.

Wholesale to the South. Wholesale to South. Wholesale to the South, Listener of the Week. Weak.

Hello. Would you be able to ship Bostana Scars wholesale to south? Yes. How far south?

Yes. How far south would you like them, sir? There's a price increase. There's a price increase, apparently, though.

Get your orders in quickly. There's a price increase. 2023 price increase. Coming soon.

Oh, South Africa. Oh. Oh. Great.

Is that why the fly was there? Oh, there it is. There he is. He loves that camera.

He keeps lighting on your camera. He's a fan. He's a Mitch fan. That's him.

That's the guy. Hello, can you send sugar? We got... Why does he keep laying on that camera?

We got a port-a-fort. A what? An air-fort. What's that?

It's like a blow-a-fort? Yeah, it runs with the fan. Oh. Santa brought that shit.

Oh, nice. That's pretty dope. Yeah. I saw Mitch Smith.

He posted it a while back. " Oh, Mitch, I remember Mitch, the Lego guy. The Lego guy. Yes.

He's reading a book. Very expensive cream. He gets all the presents for Christmas and he's reading a book. Right.

That's how it works. Make sure you get him books, Mitch. He did. Oh, this year he did?

He got him a book. Next year, though, all books. All books. All books.

No toys. No toys. Legos. Maybe some Legos.

Yeah. All right. Well, let's cut this. All right.
