Cigar Hustlers Podcast Episode 293 Happy Birthday Eladio

Episode Summary
Episode 293 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast opens with the details of the shop's RoMa Craft PCA giveaway — a sampler that includes a Frenchy cigar, a Quintín Guanguanaró and three Intemperance Bolsticks — plus how to earn entries by subscribing to the newsletter or buying RoMa Craft product, with an August 31, 2023 deadline. The crew also announce they're now on Cameo and record the promo video live on air, and preview the Patreon segment where they smoke the HVC Connecticut "Golden Hotcake."
The long opening banter covers Mikey's family weekend at Universal's new VillainCon ride (and his daughter Teddy's blunt review), parenting lessons about following through on punishments, a DIY chest-freezer cold plunge build, and a Bosch dishwasher install. Phil's Fun Facts runs through the different tobacco curing methods — fire cured, dark air-cured, air-cured Maryland, air-cured cigar tobacco and flue-cured — and what each is used for.
The news block starts with a call to action for the PCA: there's still no cigar emoji on any phone keyboard, only a cigarette. Then the guys cover Black Star Line Cigars' Mr. Fahrenheit Corona Gorda beginning to ship — a 6x46 shaggy-foot Corona Gorda with a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Dominican binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan filler made at Tabacalera La Isla, priced at $11.99, plus the coming Rosewood 1923 release. They also cover the Biden administration's opposition to the House appropriations language that would block the FDA from banning flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes.
The headline story is the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario, debuting at InterTabac 2023: a 7x52 Churchill Extra with an Ecuadorian wrapper, Mexican binder and Dominican fillers, blended with seven tobaccos, sold in boxes of 14, limited to 1,400 boxes and distributed in Europe by Cop Tobacco — not available in the U.S. The hosts riff on Diaz's legacy as Davidoff's Dominican production chief, his tradition of personal birthday cigars, and the marketing gap between a legendary blender and consumer recognition. The episode wraps with a Florida story about a McDonald's chicken nugget burn lawsuit, a call with Ronnie of Secreto Cigars (Shop of the Week) to plug the August 19 worldwide release of the Powstanie Connecticut, and Listener of the Week David Morris.

Someone is going to win a PCA sampler. Here's what the winner will receive. Tell me. One Frenchy Cigar.
Oh. What's that? Probably now will never be made again. Oh yeah?
Oh yeah. It's very rare, yeah. Very rare, very rare. One Quinguangunero.
The employee formerly known as Frenchy. Yes, employee formerly known as Frenchy. Would they call him that at the new place? Yes.
Oh, okay. And three Intemperant Bolstix. He's going to SCG, they call him stuff like, hey, fuck stick, and do your job, and you know, like, usually in those type of organizations. No, he has not announced where he was going.
Oh, I mean, oh. Well, you heard it here first. Exclusive, exclusive, exclusive. Here's how to win.
You gotta be ready for those things. Here's how to enter to win. Yeah, don't tell any of us anything, because it'll come out on the show. Okay, one entry, you subscribe to the email list.
Yes. Click on the newsletter at the bottom of the page, all the way on the bottom, and then enter your email, and you will have one entry. Which me and Palmer have done. Yes.
You're not winning. Oh, then I get to subscribe. I get the email. Yeah, I'm unsubscribing.
Like three times a day, I'm getting something. Three times a day? I got the Golden Bull three times, I think, over the weekend. Really?
I almost bought one. Oh, I didn't almost buy one. I didn't get any of those. Golden Bull?
You know, if you go all the way to the bottom, click on the newsletter, enter your email address, then you'll get it, too. Huh. So you don't subscribe? You don't subscribe to your own email.
I guess I don't. Alright, five entries if you purchase $50 in Roma Craft products in a single order. Yeah. 15 entries if you purchase $100 in Roan Craft products in a single order.
And then 50 entries, which almost guarantees that you could win. Almost. Almost guarantees. I'm trying to do my best here to give away some special cigars.
I want to, you know, I'm trying to... Well, we saw packages, we saw pictures of the Quentin Guanganaro being boxed up and shipped, so it's not going to be exclusive here for a while. We've got to speed this up a little bit. Hurry up, hurry up.
50 entries if you purchase $200 in Roamacraft products in a single entry. Yeah. Now, we did announce that the Viso Horny Sampler does qualify. It qualifies.
It qualifies, because it was all made at the same place. Yeah. So, deadline to enter will be August 31st, 2023. You can enter as many times as you like.
No purchase necessary to enter. com. com to condemn it. Go to two now, over there.
Subscribe, Phil. Subscribe. Don't they get a muscle picture of Mikey in there, too? Subscribe in the email.
Can we add a muscle picture of Mikey? Sure. And a muscle picture of Mikey! Speaking of muscle picture of Mikey, if you could go to Phil's camera, his month is out of date in the back.
Yes, yes, but the next two months are stuck together. They're stuck together? No. He got excited.
No, no, no, I gotta see what's going on. No, really, they are. But you can go ahead. I'll take a look.
I accidentally stuck August. Oh, he's actually, he's coming into my room now. I stuck August and September together. There he is.
See, so August is just regular August. You need the knife, I'll throw it at you. You didn't even hear the door opening close. Wow.
That's okay, three minutes, door. I had to tape the head to it, yes. Isn't this great? Everybody wants to know what this room looks like.
Well, they can see what it looks like. That's what his back looks like. Did you get it? You're getting it over there?
Oh, you're just gonna move the head. There you go. Oh, nice. Nice.
Zoom in at four minutes. I don't know, not many people noticed, but the first day we put it up, I did cut to it at one point, so you could see what it was. Oh, you're very masculine in that picture. Oh, thank you.
I've been working out and dieting. Phil must be very excited about that. Yeah. What are we doing for the Welcome to the Patreon.
Patreon today, we're smoking the HVC Connecticut hotcake, is that what you call it? The golden hotcake? The golden hotcake. The golden hotcake.
The golden hotcake. What size is this, Michael? I don't, I don't. It looks like a Corona Gorda.
For the love of God. I don't know. You're so unprepared. It's for the Patreon, for God's sakes.
So there's going to be special discounts on the HVC for all our patrons of the Patreon. And if you're not a patron, you can't use the discount. You don't get to use the code. We know who you are.
We know who you are. We know. So, it'll be cool. All right, everybody knows we're on Cameo.
9 grams. I'm not even reading that yet. I want to see how it's going to smoke us again. So wait.
Okay, everybody knows we're on Cameo. We have not had a time to shoot the Cameo video. We're officially on Cameo. We're officially on Cameo.
So, as a little bit of a movie magic, you guys are going to get to see the video as we do it. We're going to do it right now. Ooh. It's supposed to be short and sweet, so everybody has their script there in front of them?
Yes. Okay, as I mentioned, Phil, first you cut to your camera and do yours, and then you cut to camera 3, and then you cut to camera 1. I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Denneau.
All right, we ready? All right, cut to camera 1. Hey, can you hold the paper down so they can't see the paper? Hey there, everyone.
We've got some exciting news to share. That's right. We're now on Cameo. Ready to create personalized video GIFs and announcements just for you.
Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, or any special occasion, we're here to send a personal touch and make it memorable. Book us on Cameo today. And there you go. There you go.
Nice. His name is Mike, and he's Mike too. Six minutes. And Boots came along, Phil came along, and now it's a Cigar House podcast Cameo.
Nice. Yes, if you'd like to recut that song, I will put it in this video. So, yeah, here we go. Another successful podcast getting going.
I'm very excited. What's up? Nothing. I was going to ask you what you did.
The number one successful podcast. What did I do? Did you do anything exciting? Did you get in a fight with anybody?
No fights. No fights. No children problems. Everything hurts.
I'm not getting out of fights. I don't know. I take it to my age. Everything hurts for no reason.
You know, what we did do is I booked a reservation for the new VillaCon ride or whatever for the kids at Universal. Oh, the, uh, the little yellow people. Well, yeah, well, that's the Minions, but the other one's the Villains, and you get to shoot them and stuff. Oh, the new movie, or that movie, The Villains.
It's like VillainCon or something. Yeah. Oh. So, you get on this ride, but it's, it's like a conveyor belt.
Well, you just stand and you shoot things as it goes. You stand? Yeah. Bomber's out.
Like the people mover thing at the airport? Kind of, yeah. And it kind of moves, or whatever. And, so Teddy, baby Teddy's on this ride, and she gets off, so they had to give her like a little gun, because the big gun, bless you, the big gun was too much for her to carry.
Oh. So is it just battery? We'll wait. No, I'm good, I'm good.
Is it just battery powered? Yeah. It's like the men in black ideas. Kind of.
But the men in black ride's way better. And you can sit down. Oh, is it better? Because it's old.
I love the men in black ride. Oh. Well, at least you get to sit down. It's cold.
Yeah. You get to sit. So this is hot, then you're standing? No, it's cold, but you're standing.
Like it's outside? Ugh. " And she goes, "No. " Like one of the people that worked there?
One of the staff. Oh, nice. Oh my God. You guys gotta get your game up.
Let me fill out the questionnaire here. " No, imagine you got, she doesn't. Imagine you got to stand. Like you're standing all day.
" "Plats! " So we did that, and then we got the hell out of there. Yeah, that sucks, right? You stand in line for however many hours, and then you get there, and you're like, you're still standing.
Yeah, you're still standing. Oh, that's right, you don't even get the sit-down relief. It's usually like the reward for standing in line. Right, that's the whole relief part of Universal or Disney or something.
Don't they understand that's how that works? And then they have this app that you can download so that you can put your name on for the score or whatever, and then people are getting bottled up doing this app. I'm like, we're just going on the fucking ride. Oh, you do that before you get on?
Yeah, right before you get on. Oh, that's stupid, too. Yeah, that's gonna be... How about after you've been, you should have started at the first hour?
" Well, they might have that, but we had no waiting time, 'cause we had the reservations. Oh, yeah, the reservations, you just walked back. Yeah. Oh.
Oh. Oh. And it wasn't air-conditioned? It's air-conditioned.
Oh, you said it was cold in the other one, so I assumed it was not cold. not cold it was cold it was nice and cold oh you're like oh that feels good and then i'm like wait a second i gotta stand fuck is this yeah what is it is there a sea belt no for standing so the gun's bluetooth or something because it's not connected by a cord yeah and you shoot these screens screens it's a lag there's not a true score there so like the way the lights are hanging there's like a screen with a picture of a bad guy on it and you shoot it like duck hunt it's a It's a gigantic screen. Well, obviously bigger. Yeah.
Like the size of our timer. Yeah, like the size of our timer. Oh. No, it's bigger than that.
Right. I mean, you could see that, like, the aesthetics and the technology are really cool. Right. Kind of a mess, though, with the whole...
Standing. Yeah. Ah. Who the hell wants to stand?
I mean, why don't you just walk at that point? Because people would stop walking. Hmm, I guess you're right. Where are you guys from?
Where are you guys from? Ohio? Great. How much did you spend to come here?
10 grand? Oh, perfect. We have Cold AC, but... How long is it?
The ride? It's short. Oh, you know the rides are short, bro. Yeah.
Well, I didn't think it was like 15 minutes long, but still... It's short. What do you think is the longest ride at Universal? Do you see them now in the...
Probably Fast and Furious. Isn't that a show? That's a good ride. Well, no, it's a...
you're on a bus, you're on a party bus. They have one, which you're talking about. They have a show over there. Oh, I haven't seen the Fast and Furious ride.
Oh, is it? They used to have, like, a stunt show over there. Yeah. The Fear Factor thing or whatever?
No, it was Fast and Furious. They had a Fast and Furious one. Did they? Yeah.
Oh, yeah, that's not fair. Where's the Fast and Furious? Now, this is another ride, I finally did The Mummy, but now I've never been on. You didn't do Fast and Furious?
No, I've never seen that. It's next door to the Harry Potter area. Yeah. So it's over in Harry Potter?
No. Next door, to the left. No, I'm- My goodness. We don't go as much as you guys do.
Oh, yeah. I like to go. Well, I would too. My wife doesn't like to go, so it's kind of a mystery.
My wife also does not like to go. Oh. She sucks it up, though, and deals with it. Well, you have children, though.
Yeah. Yeah. My wife should suck it up for me, so I'm, like, once a month I can get it. Good job.
Right, I'm the job. Just leave her at home. Go by myself? We're there almost every weekend at this point.
Are you kidding me? That is true. You should just go. Shoot me a text.
Shoot me a text every weekend. I've asked you multiple times. I think I've been twice with you. Have you?
Yeah. We went to the Christmas thing. Oh, that was a special one. Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the Christmas thing. Yeah, I think I've been twice with you. And then you went one other time. Recently.
I thought it was one other time other than that, too. No. Maybe I went with Chet Neva. Maybe.
Maybe that's what it was. Papa Palmer. So, that was it? Oh, is there football, basketball?
No, as of right now, all of that's, we're working on football and getting the rosters together. What are you doing? I thought you were the basketball coach. Yeah, your basketball club.
No, it's over. Oh, so you coached next year. I told you that Justice won, right? Yeah.
Oh, I did? Yeah, you did. Oh. One won, the other didn't.
One won, the other one lost. But you're supposed to be preparing for next season. So you're coaching next season. Oh, they started, I mean, they did training this week, they did a basketball practice thing.
Oh. Still. I won't let them sit still. Right.
You know what I mean? Right. Yeah. I try my best to keep them active.
It's like, you're not, I mean, Jax is at, he's at that Pudge level. I don't know. He's bulking up. Right.
He's about to get tall. Yeah. He's either going to shoot up a couple inches here or he's going to look like Grimace. I don't know.
It's going to be one or the other. Like Grimace. It's so mean. It would be fantastic.
I'm like, dude. Yes. So I will tell you this. I have learned that when it comes to punishing your kids.
Yes. You can't threaten. No, no. If you say, hey, if you do this, I'm going to take this away.
And then you say, and they do it. Hey, just so you know, I'ma do it, I'ma do it, I'ma do it, I'ma do it, I have this thing where if I see them playing video games or whatever, and they haven't brushed their teeth, like shit is, we are at DEFCON 3 at that point. Oh. So, I say, if I ask you the question, did you brush your teeth, and the answer is no, you lose your phone for the day, or you lose the Xbox for the day, or something like that.
Oh. Jeez, Shawshank Redemption. So when he gets his card up and I think Jax was here. " He's like, "But the day had already been over.
" Instant lip tightening when he said that. So he's like, "Can I get my phone? " I said, I'll tell you what. I don't really feel like it's an adequate punishment for me to take your phone away at this point at 5 o'clock.
I said, so here's what I'm going to do. Beat you. Next time, the next time you don't brush your teeth, it's two days. It's two consecutive days.
So what, did he test you over the weekend or something? He did. You bet your fucking ass he did. So come Friday.
You do not remember the other one. It'd just be the one day. no so come friday he had he was he got up and he started playing video games or was on his xbox or something or on his phone or something yeah and i asked a question so did you brush your teeth instant shoulder slump no give me a phone like i was two days baby i got you for two 48 hours wow it's a game so so saturday rolls through and then sunday comes by he goes can i get my phone I said no. Two days.
And I tried to explain to him, listen, if I don't want to punish you, but if I don't really enjoy this. But if I don't back what I'm going to tell you, then you're just going to think that life is good in general. You're going to be able to get away with whatever the fuck you want and there's no consequences in life. So no.
It's two days. So it was two miserable days for him without his phone. Even at that age, the phone is a big deal. Oh my God.
Yeah, with the YouTube YouTube stuff, and all the other things, yeah. Man, just wait till they become a teenager, you're going to be threatening every day. Forget the phone taken away. Take away the car.
So, I'm going to leave today, and he kind of like, I try my best not to wake the kids up. I don't want them, even though I need to start getting them up now, because we're getting closer to school, I want them to sleep as long as possible. I believe that they need to grow and all of this stuff, and they need sleep. And give Brittany a break.
Yeah, that too. Well, if Teddy's there, no one's getting a fucking break. There is no break. Give him some extra time on me.
No, no. Teddy doesn't give a shit, man. So, I'm going to leave, and he's up all of a sudden, out of nowhere, and he's playing Xbox. I go, and I say, dude, dude, I'm like, do you understand how much of a fucking, like, this isn't registering for you?
Sorry, Dad, didn't see you were up. I didn't know you were up, too. " Here's your phone back. I didn't have to take it away.
And I praised him for it. I was like, "Thank you so much, dude. I appreciate you just getting up, taking care of what you need to take care of, Take care of, and now you can do whatever you need to do. So you should get him and get out of jail, freak her?
No. No, no, no. When he left, he goes, I sure showed my dad. No.
I didn't really brush my teeth. No, the one who lies, actually, it goes down by sectors. I would say Jax is the most honest. Justice, he's a 50/50.
But you can tell when he's lying. He's not good at it yet. No. He's like, no.
I'm like, wait a second. No. Yeah. Teddy?
That bitch lies about everything. She got the cookie around her mouth and everything. Dude. I did not eat the cookie.
What cookie? I did not eat the cookie. Dude. Bubbles.
Bubbles. Bring me that cookie. So there's an M&M jar. I'm doing daddy.
There's an M&M jar in our house right now, which has got to go, man, this is the problem for me. And we said don't eat the M&M's, right? So she grabs some M&M's, and before she comes into our room, you can see that she's like right outside the door, eating. She was eating the M&M's.
Before she comes in. Yeah, so she knows what's up. Yeah, she knew, do not cross this threshold. That's right.
So when she comes in, we knew that she ate the M&M's. Did you eat the M&M's? No. Go to your room.
I said, go to your room, because you're lying. I'm sorry, I didn't eat the M&M's. You're lying. Sounds like us here.
Like, for one, we saw you, for two, your tongue is green and blue. Go to your room. So she goes to her room, she's crying, blah, blah, blah. And I went in there 20 times.
Did you eat the M&M's? No. I mean, she stuck to it. I still didn't do it.
She stuck to her story. Hey. Mean dance. It's a ride or die right there, boy.
It's right. Never ride telling anybody. Well, I said, okay, fine. You're gonna stay in your room.
Bah! Bah! So, I kept this going, man. I kept this going.
I'm like, did you eat the M&M's? No. I mean, I legitimately did it 20 times. Eventually, she figured it out that she had to be honest.
Oh, she's got a cop to it. To get out of the room. Get out of detention. 20 times over how long a period?
Oh my god, it was probably 15 or 20 minutes, you know, maybe longer. Yes, I just ate the ones under my pillow too. " "Fuck, I ate the M&M's, Dad, alright? " Yeah.
And I said, "That's all you have to do. " I'm very confused on this loyalty then. " You can stand outside, "You want the truth? " So today, she says- In dark places and parties, you want people like me to eat the M&M's.
You need people like me to eat the M&M's. " So normally, when, you know, the three-year-old poops, you gotta wipe the three-year-old's butt. Okay. So she gets out of the bathroom.
" She's like, "No, I already went. I already went poop, I already went poop, I'm like, but someone's gonna wipe your butt. She knows she's in trouble. She, yeah.
I flushed and everything, alright. So I wiped her butt, and there was nothing. Even washed my hands. It was one of those clean ones, that happens every once in a while.
I said, wait a second. I go, so did you poop? And she goes, yes. And I said, now you're lying again.
Why are you lying about this? Stop lying. Ah, she goes to a room. I didn't punish her, I didn't send her to a room.
I just said, you're lying. Now she knows. So I'm going to leave from the house. " She knew she had to get that out.
At least she's so, you know, at least the gap that's between the honesty... Oh, it's getting smaller. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've reduced it, you know, to about two minutes. Girls are rough, bro.
Wait, I'm gonna be in here until he comes back if I don't admit to it, so I'm... Yeah. Okay, yes, I know poop. If I don't...
If I don't... See, boys, like he was saying, like his boys... You can tell if they're lying. Right.
They give signs. Girls, no sign. Right. Yeah, but I mean, you know.
" And I ate the fucking M&M's, Dad. What? Bubbles will stop. What are you gonna do?
Bubbles? Bubbles. Get Daddy. Akhtun Daddy.
Akhtun Daddy. So, yeah, this is my life. No, well, you know, I think my boys, you can be harder on your boys. Of course.
" I want my own. " So I started looking at toy laptops, and then I let it go. " Oh, now you're in. " Kinda.
" I ordered it on Amazon. It's like 17 bucks. I'm like, it's on its way. " They know.
I know. She's sitting there. The lights go out in the house. TV goes off.
I mean, I could be running net negative. It doesn't matter. Yeah, whatever. What do you want?
Okay, sure. Ferrari? Yeah, we'll figure it out. Ferrari.
I like a drink in Ferrari, Daddy. What about you, Palmer? What'd you do? I didn't do a damn thing all weekend.
Surprise, surprise. Wait, boo, you went to Celery City? I went to Celery City Saturday night. Oh.
Sunday, I don't think I got off the couch unless I wanted food or I had to go to the bathroom. Me either. Me and the dogs. They're all spread out on the couch.
I watched Mission Impossible, all six of them. Oh, I turned Navy SEALs on, I've been watching that, and I just let it run. Nice. That sounds fantastic.
It was, fall asleep for 15, 20 minutes, wake up, go, oh, they saved the world, that's nice. I gotta tell you something. Go back and sleep. We're building a sector in the garage.
Yeah? For a cold plunge. Oh, I heard you talk about this briefly at Celery City. Oh, wait a second, wait a second.
He said he had to clean his garage a little bit. I didn't want to say it up there. Oh. Yeah.
You didn't want to say it up there? I just didn't want to hear any of my shit. So yeah, so we're, um, so there is this, like a section of where my tools and stuff are that I don't use. I mean, let's say tools.
Yeah, I do. It's crazy. Wow, that's weird. You have to put together grills.
So we tighten that tools anymore. So we tightened up that area so that we could put a freezer, uh, chest there, right? I'm going to modify the freezer chest into a cold plunge. Oh, what do you have to do to modify it?
Uh, you just need a temperature regulator, an oxidizer to clean the water and a pump. And I'm going to modify the freezer chest into a cold plunge. What do you have to do to modify it? Uh, you just need a temperature regulator, an oxidizer to clean the water and a pump.
The other thing you can do is you can epoxy the interior. It's crazy that I know all this shit already. How much is it for a blow-up one? The blow-up one's probably the same price of what I paid for the freezer chest.
Okay. And you still need to get a chiller or something like that to keep it cold. Oh, okay. So this is definitely the most affordable route.
That's what I was just wondering. Oh, dude, yeah, I looked into it. How big a freezer do you need for you to... 16 cubic foot.
I don't know. 16 cubic foot, it's just about five foot in length. Oh, is that about the length of the table? Uh, if you cut it like here?
It's like, it's about, it's a little under five foot, I think. That table's about almost seven. It's probably about the size of this table, yo. And it's 28 inches wide.
Gotcha. Yeah. Two feet? 28 inches, that's it?
You're gonna fit? Yeah. We measured. Oh.
I got extra space. Do you have to like, keep the lid off or something? No, you keep the lid on, you unplug it when you go in, And then you go in so you don't have to worry about getting shocked or anything. Just dump right in.
I'm going to call this now. How long did you? Did you put your shoulders down then? It'll be here Wednesday.
Okay, well. Yeah, I think you were 28 inches across at the shoulders. I did the measurements. You measured your shoulders?
Yeah. So what's it with your shoulders? I think the 24, 22, something like that. It's going to be a little tight.
Yeah, of course, it's going to be a little tight. What do you do when Teddy shuts the lid on you? Yeah, I fucking eat my M&M's. Come out and Bubbles is sitting on the top of it, and you and you and she's in there eating them and it.
Mmm, these are good, Daddy. These are good. On her laptop. Plots, Bubbles, Plots!
On cooler. Oh, Lord. So, somehow, that parlayed into, um, us removing the agave plant that looks like death. Brittany did all the work.
I mean... Well, yes, obviously. Well, there was a we, and now it's changed. Yeah, let's be honest.
Brittany did all the work. Brittany did all the work, man. Well, you and Teddy ate M&Ms. " I felt so bad.
Not that bad, though. Well, I got her a dishwasher in the mix. She's been hand-washing dishes? No, the dishwasher that we had was kind of shit.
Oh. Yeah, she's been hand-washing dishes this whole time. So, yeah, I went to Home Depot to buy duct tape. Came home with a dishwasher.
That shirt. Wow. Yeah, it's nice. It's one of those Bosch ones.
Apparently, Bosch is a good brand. That's nice. They make radios and stuff. Tools?
Tools? Yeah, tools. Appliances. Apparently appliances, no.
Yeah, it was like a clearance thing. It was a display thing. Oh, it's not like it was running. No, that's what, you know.
Yeah. So, when I looked at it, I was like, let's talk to the salesperson or whatever. I go, what the fuck? Yeah, but it's Bosch.
What the fuck is Bosch? And she's like, yeah, it's the number one sold dishwasher in the nation. Oh, that's what they tell everybody about every brand. No, it's a Home Depot person.
They don't care about selling it. Do you get commission? No way. Sure they do.
Bosch is the number one. The Applying to People do. Here you go. Listen up.
They do get commission, but Bosch is the number one. What are you getting? Dude, I fucking stole this thing. It was like 400 bucks.
Right. What's the commission? Would you make $10? Yeah, probably.
But, the good news is, is Mikey installed it. I did install it. Oh, but you saw? Brittany and I installed it, yeah.
Oh. Wait, wait, okay. Now it just changed. Because you said you installed it.
Now it's Brittany and you. Is it Brittany or is it? No, well, listen, I will always give credit to Brittany because she definitely helps. She definitely helps.
She the, the hands and you're the, we'll move your hand to the left, it's dark. He holds the flashlight for her. I do that. Hold the flashlight for Brittany?
No, no, no, not for Brittany. Oh, for Tia. For Tia. She helped.
Bootsy's wife. Yeah. When you help them. Yeah.
She was, she was a major component in installing the drain off of the garbage disposal. The driver's disposal? She did that very well, little hands, yeah, 28 inch shoulders, now I helped to fuse it on, you know, when we were reattaching, but he tightened the thing on the clamp, I handled the water, I mean, I did, I did a lot of it, but she debt was definitely a big help, nice, yeah, teamwork makes it, you know, and it's funny, what's really kind of remarkable is doing those things, yeah, like, it was awesome, we had a, it was a long, hard day, but, you know, just working with your partner, She wanted to do something was fucking fantastic. Right.
Yeah. So we really enjoyed it. Nice. And now she's dead.
And now she can't move. Oh. Now she's in the freezer. Oh, Lord Jesus.
Freeze is not here yet. It was a horrible tournament. I'm looking, I asked Chet about epoxying it. Oh, yeah?
Yeah. What'd he say? He's like, that's weird. The freezer.
Well, to be fair, I've been trying to get Chet to epoxy my countertops for two years. Oh, really? Yeah, so you gotta stay on him. He'll forget.
Oh, yeah, no, well, it's happening. Yeah, so I try to do it when Adrian's gone to surprise her, and I've tried over two years, like, four times, and then something happens and he forgets. What's gonna happen is he's gonna get sucked into re-epoxying the fucking counters in my house, too, because those are a mess. All right, is that all you got?
Yeah. I mean, that was 30 minutes. That actually was 30 minutes, yeah. Yeah.
He's ready to do what he wants to do. Fill time. Fill time. The dance is my favorite bird.
Welcome to Cigar Hustlers Podcast Feature, Phil's Fun Facts. Hello, peoples. All right, fellas. There are several types of tobacco that are grown, depending on their use.
That's weird how they said that. Uh, fire cured. It's used for snuff and chewing tobacco. Dark, air-cured, used for chewing tobacco.
Air-cured, Maryland tobacco, used for cigarettes. Air-cured, cigar tobacco, used for cigar wrappers and fillers. Flu-cured, used for cigarette pipe. Cured?
Flu-cured? Cured, it says. Yeah, cured. Okay.
Curd? Cured. Ooh, is it fucking milk? Curd.
Cured, not curd. Cured. Are you eating your curd and whey? Cured.
All right. Used for cigarette pipe and chewing tobacco. Okay. Stone curd.
Cured. Cured. That's what I said. Fuck.
Used for blunts. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Sometimes you just have to wait for it.
What a terrible delivery on that. It was terrible. He messed it up. He said the word wrong every single time.
The guy's a mess. Whatever. He was so anxious to say it too. He wanted to rush up.
Wait, we're not getting the news yet, are we? That's what comes next. Why? What do you want?
You want to talk about the thing? You want to go ahead? Go ahead, Phil. So what's going on?
What? Can you talk about the... Frenchie. The Frenchie?
No. What are you talking about? I don't know. It's a surprise.
How do I know? Well, you already let it out at the beginning of the show. Oh, yeah. So you go back and listen to the beginning of the show.
I got a new job. Why? I don't know. You want to talk about something like that?
We can talk about that on the Patreon. Okay. That's what I was wondering. Okay.
We can talk about that on the Patreon. That's fine. Okay. All right.
On to the news. Oh, now I'm glad I approved. From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need. The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report with Mike Two.
I have a PCA call to action I want to do, Michael. Oh, a call to action. I have something I want them to do. What do you do?
Did you know there is not a cigar emoji on the keyboard anywhere? Really? There's a cigarette one. There is not a cigar one.
Who do we have to see about this? So I would like the PCA to work on that. Please, PCA, get us a cigar emoji that we can use. On the iPhone?
On any of them. Let's text. We should text Sean. Sean.
He works for Apple. Oh. Well, can't the PCA talk to Sean? I mean, Sean wouldn't get anything done.
He's not going to get anything done. I don't know. You guys own so many drugs. That's it.
do something and use emojis as part of it and a cigarette was the only one that has anything smoked coming from it. Wow, I never even realized. Yeah, I didn't notice it either. I went and double checked before I decided to do this and I was like, nope, there is not one.
Not a single cigar emoji. No, not a one. Not even a face smoking a cigar. What if you just use a Cuban flag?
I think you have a better chance of the marijuana fucking leaf being put on the emoji. You think so? Yeah. Wow.
Why is there a cigarette one? Like if you type in cigarette into your phone, you know, it boop, it pops up like if you put in boat or something. It's because they hate cigars for something. It's because we're the enemy.
Why do they like cigarettes, though? Makes them lots of money. Doesn't make Apple any money. Oh.
All right, Black Star Line's Mr. Fahrenheit Corona Gorda begins shipping. The first of two PCA 2023 releases from the Black Star Line cigars has begun shipping to stores. Earlier this week, the Black Star Line cigar Mr.
Fahrenheit Corona Gorda begins shipping out. A 6x46 Corona Gorda with a shaggy foot. Fireman foot. It comes with a bunion.
Uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It's made at Tablicalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic. This is the second size for the line. A 5x50 Robusto was offered at Underground Cigar Shop's NFG 23 event in the spring, though the size was limited to 1,000 cigars.
99 per cigar and offered in boxes and bundles of 20 cigars, each priced the same as a regular production offering. Black Star Line offers new PCA 2023 releases of Rosewood 1923. It could begin shipping as early as next week. Wow.
I'm excited for this one. So am I. I'm dying to try it. I want to try it.
That's why you wanted to try it for the Patreon. Well, because it's been released. I'm trying to keep our Patreon reviews with the cigars that are being released. I'm very sorry.
But now we're a week behind. We're always going to be a week behind. Still a week behind. Always going to be a week behind.
Have you guys ever thought of doing two on the show? You know, I thought about that, but no. That's not a good idea. Stop me.
No. I am excited, though, for Black Star Lines and stuff. Because it's not a fresh palate. Maybe the cigar you had first taints the second one or something.
Oh, yeah. If you're really hell-bent on doing it, Mr. Farron, I will do it today. No, you already got your...
I don't give a fuck. Whatever. We can do that. I mean, you've got those upstairs out too, but those came out last week.
I can honor a special on both of them, and we can just roll into Mr. Fahrenheit. Unnecessary. We can do it next week.
No, I can get it. I understand your fucking... Yes. passive-aggressive bullshit.
It's not passive-aggressive. No, no. I caught it last week. Yeah, yeah.
When we did the Papa Saka. Right. I'm in. You made a couple comments.
Right. It didn't go unnoticed. We don't even have them. It didn't go unnoticed.
And now you continue to fucking beat home the Mr. Fahrenheit thing. No, no, that was the lead story this week. Give me the Mr.
Fahrenheit. Where are they at? Let's go. They're in the humidor.
One second, Papi. Uno momento, Papi. Biden administration opposes preventing FDA from banning flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes. Sneeze again.
Well, you'd think he would've cut the camera one before he stood up, but no, not at all. And one of the least surprising turn of events, the Biden administration has announced that it is opposed to a bill introduced by House Republicans that would limit FDA's ability to regulate flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes. S. Food and Drug Administration has said that they will announce a finalized rule that would ban flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes as early as this fall.
In May, the House Committee on Appropriations introduced a proposed funding bill for various agencies, including FDA that, amongst other things, would prevent the agency from banning flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes. In short, the language says that in order to receive money to fund FDA, the agency would be prevented from introducing bans on flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes, as well as introducing rules that the amount of nicotine on a product It's kind of half. 7 grams, by the way. I gotta find a piece of paper again.
3 grams. Weight is what? 3. 3.
Three! Eladio Diaz! Eladio. Eladio.
70 Anniversario debuting in Enter the Back 2023. I haven't met this guy yet. Eladio? Yeah.
He's at the PCA. He was. We didn't get to meet him. I don't know if he was this year.
He was last year. I saw a picture right before. I forget who he's normally with, I think the Crown Hits people? We didn't buy, we should have bought that, I don't know, it's weird that, Eladio, you know, here's the problem, yes, the guy is distinguished and he has a name, yes, Eladio, yeah, yes, Diaz, but that doesn't mean your cigar is going to sell, no, normally he gives them away though, yeah, but even like the Sigmund Freud and the Agapes and the other shit, you know, the giant Sigmund Freud, I had that Friday, it was pretty good, yeah, but, There needs to be some way that a consumer can connect with that guy.
Oh, I see what you're saying. And I don't see that connection. He doesn't go around, do you say? You don't have to go around, you just gotta connect.
Well, right, well, he was in somebody else's phone, yeah, if he walked in, I wouldn't know who he was. Yeah, who are you? I am Eladio. Oh, Eladio.
Oh! You're Eladio? We love you! Eladio!
I didn't know what you looked like though, I think you're somebody older. And I was like, Eladio. For years, Eladio Diaz has made himself a birthday cigar. That would smoke and give to friends and family.
Each year, he'd create a different cigar. As time went on, the cigars gained notoriety and even started putting bands on them. But the cigars were never offered for sale. S.
What the hell? Okay, Eladio, you're off the list. Yeah. Eladio, I don't think we can do anything else with you now.
Maybe that's why he didn't buy it, Michael. He's not offering it here. Isn't that all weird? You know what I mean?
I just don't get it. I don't either. Maybe he doesn't live in the United States. Okay, but still.
So, maybe he realizes that the demand for his cigar is not in the United States because he doesn't promote it here. Well, where the fuck is it then? It's in Europe. You think his demand is in Europe?
Well, he debuted it at the Inter-Tobac 2023. Or China. It's going to take place next month, Diaz and his family will debut the Eladio Diaz 70 Inversario. Be offered in a single size, a 7x52 Churchill Extra, using seven different tobaccos, not six, but seven.
What is it? Is that what a Churchill extra is? Seven. One extra tobacco?
No, extra means it's bigger than a Churchill. Oh, okay. Including an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Mexican binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic. As for the 70 name, it references more than just his 70th birthday.
Oh, well, we don't have to worry, there won't be a whole lot more of these coming out. Okay. A milestone Diaz celebrated on May 28th. Also a play on the number seven, his mother bought a seven-year-old Diaz, Wait, not brought.
Bought. Brought. Not bought. She didn't buy him.
She brought him. Sorry. To a small tobacco factory. Consequently, this year marks 63 years in working with tobacco.
So, when he was seven, he started working with tobacco. He started rolling. You must roll a cigar in all your roll. That's about right.
Third world country. Uh, this year, 63 years in working with tobacco. Seven times nine equals 63. I don't know why that's in there.
Suffered a stroke on November 14th, 14 is a multiple of 7, and that will be 7 years since his stroke. Oh, so it's a Fable cigar, is what you're saying. Because that's exactly what it is, the prime of 7. The prime of 7.
He started when he was 7, he had a stroke on November 14th, and then, ugh. This carries out to be a cigar itself, 752, with 7 types of tobacco, which will be sold in boxes of 14. Yes, you're right, it's now a Fable cigar. Yep.
Pricing has not been announced, but production is limited to 1,400 boxes of 14 cigars. Huh, and you can't get them. It will be distributed in Europe by Cop Tobacco, formerly known as Kohlhaus & Cop. Ended back in 2023, takes place in 2014, blah, blah, blah.
Let's see, his birthday gained notoriety during his long career at Davidoff, where he was the production chief of Davidoff's Dominican operation, responsible for overseeing the cigar making. His birthday, cigars, which share some traits, blah, blah, blah. All right, now we have a Florida story. There was not much in the news this week.
I guess not. Not much at all. Parents are seeking $15 million after their daughter was disfigured and scarred by a hot chicken nugget. Disfigured and scarred?
By a hot chicken nugget. Disfigured. Yes. Read on.
In Florida. I've got to understand this. Broward jury found Upchurch Foods and McDonald's liable for burns on the child. Oh my fucking God.
Down in Fort Lauderdale. Opening statement began Tuesday in a This is a second trial to determine the damages that will be awarded to a family who filed a lawsuit against McDonald's and its franchisees, Upchurch Foods, after their four-year-old daughter was severely burned by a chicken nugget. It's called Upchurch Foods? Upchurch.
Upchurch. Oh. That'd be a better name. Upchurch.
Upchurch. Why is this lying thing in here that you're upcharged? Don't worry about it. There's a fee.
There's a fee fee. There's a fee for the fee. A lot of French people around here. The jury found that both were liable for failure to warn about the foreseeable risk of harm.
Oh my god. Story below updated throughout the day. Oh, sorry, that wasn't a drink. Food's hot.
I know, it's hard, it's a tough... But it was so hot it burned her, Michael, and disfigured her. How... Go ahead.
The jury found Upchurch Foods, but not McDonald's, was negligent, and decided that both companies were not liable for the additional allegations. The victim's parents were seeking $15 million for the burn they say left their four-year-old daughter disfigured and scarred. $15 million. The lawsuit stems from a trip to the drive-thru August 21st, 2019.
Philana Holmes said that she went to McDonald's, there's an address, in Tamarack, and ordered a six-piece chicken nugget Happy Meal for her daughter, Olivia. Yeah. She said the girl was in the car when she dropped a nugget in her lap, which got lodged between the thigh and the vehicle's seatbelt. Oh.
Chicken Nugget inside the Happy Meal were unreasonably and dangerously hot and caused the victim's skin and flesh around her thigh to burn. Did you not check the food before you handed it to your child? What was the name of the child? Olivia.
Okay. The suit claimed the company served food that was unfit for human handling, let alone consumption due to the temperature. McDonald's and their franchisees argued food safety rules require the Nuggets to be hot enough, otherwise they are unsafe to eat. And that's when McDonald's stopped using robots.
Yeah, they can't feel the temperature. Right. The robot just picked them up and put them in the thing. It didn't pick them up.
This is so ridiculous. Man, we're going to have to pay these guys $20 an hour now. The defense also argued that what happens to a McNugget once it leaves a drive-thru window is beyond McDonald's control. That is.
That's true. But they did have a lawsuit with the hot coffee. They obviously got their shit together after that. Apparently not, now it's transferred to the McNuggets.
Well, they just said flat out that they can't be sued. No, the defense argued that it's not their fault because your parents an idiot and gives you a hot food. They're gonna get paid. They're getting 800, they're getting $800,000.
Yeah, they're getting paid. They didn't get the 15, they got 800. 800 G's. 800 G's.
This cigar is hot. Eric, I'm fucking reaching out. You can reach it out. I just want you to know.
Here, put it in the palm of my hand, and I didn't know it was hot. Ow! There's no disfigure here. It was my hand-modeling career.
Listen, we're doing it wrong, fellas. We need to start going to Chick-fil-A, Burger King, all these places. You guys need to put your kids in car seats and drive around to different places. We just need to sue every single cigar company.
Let's just sue every single... You never said that they were hot. You never said they were bad for me. STGs got a lot of money.
Let's sue them. Oh, yeah. They probably have good attorneys, though. We need somebody that's like mid-level.
Mid-level? Somebody who doesn't have enough money to throw at it all day. Sounds like a Lottio problem. We go after a Lottio.
He's 70 years old and had a stroke. Yeah, let's go after him. They put him up on the stand. He's not here though.
We're gonna have to fly to go get those cigars. Oh yeah, we have to go to Europe. You didn't say I had to get a whole plane together. You didn't disclose that.
You didn't disclose it with planes. All right, that's all I got. You got a shop of the week, Michael? You got a shop of the week.
Come on. I do. Shop of the week. Place where the guy can't reach the car keys.
Secreto Cigars. Secreto Cigar Shop of the Week where we will be on August 19th for the worldwide release of the Powstanie what? Yeah, go ahead. Powstanie, you're looking at me saying something wrong.
Powstanie Connecticut Cigar. Don't want to miss it. Don't want to miss it. Don't want to miss it.
It's going to be epic. Super. Yeah, it's 12 to 6. We're having lunch.
It's a brunch. No, no, he's hiding the keys. Do you think Ronnie answers up a column right now? Yeah, let's plug the thing.
We have 50 minutes to kill. It'll take him that long to tell us we're doing something wrong. Secretos Cigars is not closing that night. He closes at 7.
He's gonna be out of there. No, no, no. Mikey's hiding the keys. I want to get in one of his Instagram lives.
We're all gonna be in his Instagram lives. Nice. He's gonna say something totally inappropriate right off the rip. Oh, good.
Oh, he's not gonna answer. I gotta call you back. We got a couple guys here. We're on the podcast right now.
We're trying to plug the event. You're trying to plug the event on a podcast that's gonna play when? Tomorrow. So it'll be live tomorrow, not today.
So it's a recorded podcast. Correct. You know, I was just wondering, what's going to happen when me and Skip Martin officially become best friends? Do you think that we're going to end up stealing all of your guys' aromacraft business from you?
Well, as long as you openly admit that Chaldeans originally sold cigars before everybody else and that they're better than everybody else, yeah, I could see that happening. We did not sell cigars, but we did have Pike Tobacco in the Indigenous Star region. There's a bomb, there's a bomb. Cut the blue wire!
Cut the blue wire! Hear that noise in your background? You know what that is right there? That's not a Powstanie Cigar being scanned.
That's at Dunbarton. This segment of the show is brought to you by Dunbarton. Don't worry, we'll go ahead and beep that out for you, buddy. That's why it's not fucking live.
I'm very excited about you guys coming to Michigan. Reuniting me with Chet Rebellion is gonna be pretty good. Palmer, I don't know how much the states are looking for Palmer. I know people are actually asking for Chet.

It's probable. More than likely. It's highly probable. That's good.
That's really good. We will have something special there for in-store only. They will be lit on fire as I hand them out. Oh, that's his new thing.
Yep. So there you go. It sounded uber sexy. There you go.
I'm running for the event as we speak right now. Excellent. And I hope that you brought your laptop, and not just your lunch. I did not.
You know, you cost me today, I got lunch, but I don't have inability to go on social media and be live, inability to pull up anything on my iPad, UPS came here for a meeting, I had nothing for the meeting, because I was talking to you, and it was disruption, and now I have nothing. It's all my fault. Always your fault, brother. All right, go back to selling, I love you too.
Thank you, man. Later. Bye, Balmer. Bye, bud.
Goodbye. I love that. Didn't mention Boots even once. No, no Phil, no Boots.
No Phil, no Boots. No Phil, no Boots. Unbelievable. He'll love me when I walk through the door.
" Who's this guy? You're gonna fuck him then? Our Uber driver. Yeah, he wanted to come and check on them.
He wanted to meet Chet. He came to meet Chet. That is fantastic. Anybody I still know in Michigan doesn't smoke cigars, so they won't come.
Gotta turn 'em, baby. Let's go. They're just Facebook friends at this point. There's alcohol.
I've been gone for a long, long time. I've been gone for a long time. For a long time. Long, long time.
See, Jake is 26, 27, so at least 27 years I've been gone. They're probably all dead anybody I know. Ronnie likes to give me a hard time. He calls me fat, so I say, you know, I'm gonna keep your keys on the top shelf so they can't.
I mean, there's one thing, one thing about being fat is I could always lose the weight. Yeah, you can't grow. Yeah. One thing about being short...
You're always gonna be short, Ronnie. It's never gonna happen. Right. It's never gonna happen.
Is he bringing his wife? I don't know, maybe. Would you stand there and go look, I'm the same size as your wife? She doesn't have to bend over to kiss me, hello.
You're a terrible person. Wow. So there's that. Oh, listener of the week.
Listener of the week. You're a listener? Sure. Go ahead.
Listener of the week, David Morris. Mr. Birthday Boy. Mr.
Birthday Boy, just spent four days here. He did. He did. He hung out.
He spoke a little more this time. Not a lot. Not a lot. But more.
Yeah? Yeah. Maybe he's getting used to us. He's loosening it up.
Three or four more trips, we won't get him to shut up. Yeah, we're going to break him in. It's a matter of time. Hung out with us at Celery City.
Hung out upstairs. At the Cesar Hustler headquarters. Yes. Excellent.
All right, anything else? I believe that's it. What's the event at the shop this month? Well, after the release of the party at Robbie.
Oh, we probably shouldn't mention that, because I don't want to take away from that one. There you go. So then, nothing. Nothing yet.
