Cigar Hustlers Podcast Episode 302 Try, Try Again....

Episode Summary
Episode 302 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast finds Mike Szczepankiewicz, Mike Palmer and Phil back behind the mics after a scheduling scramble, opening with the show's trademark "we don't want sponsors" disclaimer and plenty of ribbing over a missing co-host (Boots). The first half is pure hangout radio: a recap of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal (favorite houses The Dark Deal and The Exorcist, a disappointing Chucky house, express pass regrets and a 2 a.m. wheelchair ride home), flag football coaching stories about Jax and Justice's teams, red light therapy, motivational speakers Eric Thomas and Andy Elliott, and a night of bar hopping in Sanford at Celery City Craft and the West End Saloon. Phil's Fun Facts claims astronauts smuggled cigars aboard Skylab 4 in 1979. The guys also read listener comments submitted to their Patreon about the ongoing "Boots" saga — the details of which stay behind the Patreon paywall.
The news block is where the cigar content lands. J.C. Newman is adding a bigger vitola to The American — the Speaker Cannon, a 6 1/4 x 60 named for Speaker Joseph Cannon, priced around $25 and slated to be ready by Election Day, November 5, 2024 — which sparks a long riff on The American's all-USA production chain (Florida sun-grown wrapper, Connecticut broadleaf binder and Havana-seed and Pennsylvania filler from Foster Farms in Windsor, CT, bands by Action Label in Sanford, boxes by Millennium Wood Box in Miami). They also cover the UK's proposed generational tobacco sales ban on anyone born on or after January 1, 2009, following New Zealand's lead.
Other releases discussed: JRE Tobacco's Aladino Sumatra, a 6x52 Toro using Sumatra-seed tobacco the Eiroa family began planting in 2016 outside Danlí, Honduras, plus a redesigned box that drops the signature Aladino painting; All Saints Solamente 2023, a 5x58 with Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and four years of age, now $20 per cigar in 23-count boxes; the returning Diesel Sideshow sampler ($99.95) with its Frog Boy, Pinhead, Two-Headed Nightingale, Bearded Lady, Elephant Man, Bohemian Twins and Strong Man cigars; Powstanie Wojtek 2023, a 5.5x46 box-pressed corona gorda barber pole at $13.40, limited to 500 boxes of 21; and the new Cigar Oasis Pack two-way humidification packs made via a white-label deal with Integra.
The episode's live moment is a phone call to Espinosa's Jack Torano, who agrees to three-way-call Justin Andrews (no answer — as with Matt Booth), then previews the upcoming Erik Espinosa Smashing Pumpkins event at Cigar Hustler, complete with signed boxes, tequila, tin signs and possible appearances by Hector Alfonso. The show closes with an "after-credits" call inviting Espinosa's Tyler Jones to the event.

Cigar Hustlers Podcast, Episode 302, where we bring you the latest news and insights from the world of premium cigars. In this episode, we dive into the big stories of the week. The King, Mike Stepankiewicz, and Reverend BDP Mike Palmer are two dynamic individuals. Who co-hosts the Captivating...
What? It's always the same. Sorry. And me, I'm Phil P.
No, you just fell. Sorry, we had it set up for a yesterday's show. Had somebody else's. So grab your favorite smoke, sit back, and join us for another exciting episode of Cigar Hossers Podcast.
You're gonna sit out and get a shot in your pee-pee, then we had to replace you yesterday. I'm sorry, just every time I read it, and I see the reverend part. I'm a reverend, but that's a problem. You're out sick, and I'm a reverend.
We heard that you caught an STD, and you had to get a shot in your peepee. I'm not engaging. Can we have camera one, please? It was so nice yesterday with Brandon, everything just went so nice as well.
Camera two? One. Maybe you'd like to put your products in front of hundreds, if not thousands, of cigar smokers each week. Maybe you'd like to partner up with us, become part of the number one cigar podcast, and go down in history as a supporter of our iconic show.
But the fact is, we don't want sponsors. We don't like people telling us what we can and can't say. So as of last week, the Cigar Hustler Podcast has remained sponsor-free. Thank you for your time, and you can kiss our ass.
I'm not allowed to say that out loud. You have to get that in, huh? You kind of eased it in. I just eased it in.
What do we got for the Patreon? I don't know. If we went to two, we could discuss it. Oh, look at that.
We have the Geneva, Geneva, the Cavalier, Geneve, Pacca. Paco. Paco. Paco.
Paco. Paco. Paco. Paco.
Paco. Paco. Paco. Paco.
Paco. One with the little gold foil. 1 grams. 1 grams.
You need a cigar. You gotta get it. It's kind of hard right now to see what's, to smoke something new. There's not a lot of new going on in the uh, the old.
There's still a lot of uh, uh, PCA stuff that's not out yet. Really? Yes. Well, I mean, I would love to review the war bear, but it's going to, you know.
That would just be seven. It's five stars. It's five stars. It's amazing.
Unless it's the R-Bear. The R-Bear? Like it was the Rod Leaf. Oh, like the Road Leaf?
Road Leaf. I thought it was Rod Leaf. Road Leaf. R-O-A-D?
Yeah. What's that spell? Rod. Weight, taste, price, appearance.
I worry about you sometimes, Michael. Still doing my red light, Michael. Excellent. Oh.
Oh, yesterday I did it? I did it yesterday. Yeah. So I sort of, I lay down and then I sort of adjust it so it's hitting me in the back and on the side and the front.
You get the full dome. Get the full dome. Get the full dome. But apparently I had moved it off the end table slightly and it was tilted so it was closer, which I thought was good, until halfway through the whole thing fell down and hit me in the head.
Oh. I was like, ow! I'm fine. I'm fine.
Does it stand on the ground or is it? No, it's a table. It's on a table. Okay.
Yeah. Well, that's good to know. But those arm things are very adjustable. So, I mean, you can tilt them like this off the thing.
So I have the one, because you said I got it at the top. So I have the one that's straight down in the back. And then the other three are right in the front and then the two on the side. Excellent.
Still listening to motivational things. What was that guy's name you told me to do? I listened to a nice one yesterday from Rocky Balboa, but not him. Still on.
Motivational things? Yeah. Who did I tell you to listen to? Yeah.
I'm looking for new ones, about 10 minutes. You were talking about the guy that you listen to all the time? Yeah. Who do I listen to?
I don't know, that's why I'm asking. I feel like the first name was Frank. Frank? Could be wrong.
Frank from Seinfeld, the father, George Costanza's father? Frank. That would be great. Motivational.
Oosa, Oosa. Man's ear. I like Eric Thomas. That guy's amazing.
Oh, Eric Thomas. Is that with an E or an A? With an E. That guy's amazing.
Does he do a 10 minute one, or is he one of those 35 minute guys? I'm sure that he has little clippies. I like the Andy Elliott guy. I think he's good.
Andy Elliott. Yeah, he's pretty cool. Like Elliott-like. He's more sales, though.
Oh, I don't want that. I just want general life stuff. Okay, Michael. I enjoy Eric Thomas.
Tell her about your football. How did you know? We did this yesterday. Well, before we get into the football, we went to Halloween Horror Nights.
Oh, that's right. Myself and. And Boots. - And boots.
- Or was it Phil and his wife? - It was boots. - Oh. - Yeah.
It was boots. And we didn't get our express passes. When we got there, the express passes were sold out. And so we had to get the 11 o'clock express passes.
- Yeah. - So we had to huff it the whole time. And then, you know, we went to a bunch of houses. - Are you done?
Are you already scribbling? - I'm setting up the score sheet for the other thing. - And so we had to go around the place twice. - Right.
What time? Oh, you almost broke who? I almost broke my friend. Oh, yeah.
Tia looked okay and we saw her upstairs. Tia was fine. Oh. It was the other guy.
Oh, that husband hurts. Yeah. Oh, I got you. Yeah, right?
The guy with the STD who got a shot in his peepee. Yeah. Yeah. He was a poor guy.
I felt bad. What time did they open? I think they opened at like 6:00. Really?
That fast? Yeah. Cause there's like a changeover. So what, do they close at 5:00, open at 6:00?
Something like that. Cause I'm sure there's things they gotta get out and stuff. They have most of the stuff out, but they have to do the change of characters and stuff like that, but most of the props are already pretty much set. So even the scare zones, are the scare zones decorated?
Yeah, they are. Or is it just like between these two trees, somebody's going to chase you? No, they're decorated. It just seemed like this year things were a little less.
See, that's what Chet had said. He felt that way too. I mean, there was like vampire hipsters or some shit. Vampire hipsters?
Yeah, like hippie vampires. That's weird. That's changed. That's really low end.
Yeah. Yeah, I don't think I was as scared this year as I was the year prior. Yeah. Yeah, Chet said it was a lot less this year.
I will tell you that my favorite- Can we go to two since we're discussing? My favorite house? Thank you. My favorite house was The Dark Deal.
Is that the name of it? Dark Deal? Dark Deal, yeah. And why was that your favorite house?
Because the Angles, Michael. Oh! Oh, they had the place where you didn't expect it to be open? Yeah.
Ah, I see. I mean, you can at least act surprised on our conversation. I am acting surprised. I'm doing the best I can.
You're not doing a good job. That was the best one? Yeah. I felt like The Exorcist was the best one.
The Exorcist was pretty good. Oh, did somebody spit pea soup at you? Yeah. Did they really?
No. Cause that's, I mean, Brittany got highly irate in that one. Yeah. Where, where in the, uh, evening was the, uh, exorcism one?
Exorcist was much later on in the evening. Yeah, that was lately. Yeah. So she had a chance to get a couple of drinks in her and loosen up a little bit.
Yeah. So, well, at least she's, before then, what she does is she buries her head in my back. Oh, that's cute. Yeah.
And we walk through it. So, you know, you go through one or two, maybe three houses. And then as, you know, the booze starts flowing. She gets a little looser.
A little looser. She starts picking her head up a little more. A little braver. They start rolling.
So we were in Exorcist and she was already rolling. Ah, gotcha. But there are two things that she does that I love, Mike. Oh, what are they?
Yeah, you're not gonna believe this. Oh, it's really weird. Yeah. Number one.
Yes. Is she screams extremely loud. Oh, okay. And she starts to back out.
She starts going backwards. She screams, she goes backwards? Yeah, and I say, you gotta go forward, you gotta go forward. Yeah, the line's backing up here, honey.
And you can't touch her. She gets mad. I'm like, come on, come on, come on. She gets super frustrated.
Isn't like a little reassuring hug or anything? None of that. Have you seen those videos where they walk in and the guy just ditches the girl? No, I haven't.
Those are funny. Oh, yeah? I saw one where they walk in, the scare person screams, comes out, and the guy yells and leaves and shuts the door, leaves his girl in there with the scream person. They sort of look at each other, and then she hands the girl the plastic knife, and then they chased him down the hall.
Together? Together. Stop it. That's funny.
The other thing that Brittany does that I fucking love. See, this is why I can't run away. I can't run like that. Because I need to see the experience.
Oh, you gotta see her. Right, right, right. I need the experience. She's half the fun for you.
Oh my god. Yeah. Is that what this is all about? You just love seeing her get scared.
You just love seeing her get scared. You want us to come over and stare in the windows once a week or something? It's all about the fun, you know? I like to see people get scared.
I'm worried about the dog, though. Boots was in the back, so he, you know, he did his best to not show his skin. Right, I'm cool. I love it, bro.
Brittany does this. I have a migraine. It only happened once, but it usually happens more than once, but she did this run in place. Ahhhh!
Oh, she screams and starts running. Ahhhh! Like she can't, like a cartoon. Yeah, she can't run.
She can't move. Ahhhh! I love that. It's fantastic.
What'd you think of Chucky? So, I told you my fear of Chucky. Yeah. You're afraid of Chucky?
That's like my most fearful thing from my childhood. I'm going to Chucky take his Halloween party. I thought it was kind of... My parents are the most fearful thing for my child.
I didn't think it was... They weren't there. Just kidding. Am I?
Am I? Let's unpack that. A little too close to home. I don't think it was as scary as I thought it was going to be.
Yeah, I thought Chucky was lame. It was a little corny. So there were no midget dresses, Chucky? Uh, no.
I didn't use that term. Oh, small people, little people, whatever the hell it is. I think if they would have had somebody like that... It would have been scary.
It would have been a lot of scary. Chet said there was a lot of animatronics in the Chucky. " Yeah. For sure.
Was it short or just not good? It just wasn't good. It just wasn't good. They're all about the same amount of time to walk the room, but that one was, you know, they can't all be winners.
Well, you would expect something like that theatrical, you know, that type of movie, better special effects. It just had a feeling like, there was a guy with a puppet going rawr, they did have those. It had a feeling that it wasn't, that this year just wasn't what it normally is. I didn't see as much hype on TV and stuff for it.
I don't even know what the theme is. Normally you see all those commercials that there's a certain theme or one big one. Yeah, I don't think there's really, there's not a person that's in charge of the, the scare person or whatever. Oh.
Like last year it was that movie, uh, I can't remember what it was. Well, I think last year it was. Stranger Things? It was Jack or somebody like that, it was like the scare person.
Jack is back? Oh, I see a scare person. Yeah, they used to have a main character. Yeah, Jack pops out every once in a while, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody's pushing hard for Christmas.
They're all concerned about Christmas being a fucking bust. Oh. I mean, Lowe's is already covered, Home Depot, they all have their Christmas shit out. Well, there's no, after Halloween, there's no real, oh, because we're not even a Halloween yet.
That's what I'm saying. We're not even a Halloween. I saw this October 2nd. We're covered in Christmas.
My, oh my God. My local Home Depot just has the Halloween stuff out still. Unless it's switched. I haven't been here in a couple of weeks.
Oh, if you're there, it's all gone. Oh, well, maybe they sold through. When they sell through, they got to put something out. Yeah, maybe they just have a bad Halloween, so they try to cover it with more Christmas.
I bought light for Halloween. Maybe. So, we did that. Yeah.
And, what else did we do? Did we do anything else, Boots? Phil? 2 o'clock in the morning.
Yeah, we were there till 2. Yeah, that's when it closes. I mean, you had to push me back in a wheelchair. I wasn't going to bring that up, but yeah, I did.
Did you really have to push me back in a wheelchair? I did. Wow. Yeah.
Yeah, he was fucked up. I guess. He was struggling. It was a hard night.
Well, you know, I felt... From Reagan, did he drink too much? I don't know, no, he wasn't drinking too much. Did you guys carpool or meet them?
We did carpool. I felt... From your house. But, like, the last three houses, Brittany looked at me and said, "I'm never gonna see these.
" And at first I was upset, and then I got over it, and I'm like, "Okay. " You know? But they toughed it out. They toughed it out.
" Was he in the wheelchair because he was just so tired, or was he starting to get sick? No, he's just, he wasn't feeling well because of his hips. Oh, yeah. So, I would think between that, between us, totally annihilating him at Halloween Horror Nights and then him going and partying it up.
The three-day gay weekend in Miami? Yeah, the three-day gay weekend that we weren't invited to. No, we weren't. We never invited.
You know what, I'll take that back, because once he got down there, he did text me and asked me if I wanted to come. Oh, he did? But it was four hours away, I'm going to drive down by myself. Hey, do you want to come?
Yeah, hey, you should come down. I'm like, oh, it's Miami. Oh, that's silly. Do you have an extra ticket?
Oh, so he would have left me in the gate. He knew I wouldn't come. It was one of those fake. I would have found somebody to get you another ticket.
I'd sit by myself. Actually, they had a guy not come. You know, I bet Groover would have had a ticket. Yeah, he probably would have sat with Groover.
So I think that between us, you know, Halloween Horror Nights in the middle of the week, plus the whole gallivanting, partying, is what made Boots sick. sick. To get the STD. To have the STD.
And that's why we're actually late to release this. People were asking on Facebook where it was. I blamed you. I believe that's fine.
I don't care. There's some hostility. I had it all edited and ready to go. And then we had football.
Oh, yeah, football. Yeah, I had football Friday night. I went out Saturday night. You did?
Yes, yes. We went to Sanford and went bar hopping. Me, my wife, and Megan. Went down and saw Casey.
You're going to blow over this now. Why? I thought he just said that he had to know things on the weekend. He canceled Sunday.
Oh. Saturday night, he was at Celery City Craft. Oh. So.
And then Jimmy had somebody too, but Jimmy's guy was like, okay, well, we can't get Casey, so we'll just get this guy. Yeah, Jimmy says you can't sign him for like three, four months or something like that. Yeah. Do we have him sign up for another event upstairs?
You know, I completely forgot he was doing that event. I think he's doing... Is he doing Espinosa? Is he doing Espinosa?
Espinosa. I have no idea. Oh. I think he's doing Espinosa.
Oh, that's cool. Because I was beat Friday. After working upstairs and then doing Dana's show and I just didn't make it back. So football.
So football, football Friday. Or football Sunday. No, we had football on Friday. Oh.
Yeah, you had, oh no, you didn't come in Friday. Jackson's team played fantastic. What'd you do all day Friday because you didn't come in? So, I don't know, I went to the gym, and then, what happens now with football, is that I have, sometimes there are games at 4:30, and then there's a game at fucking 9 o'clock, so I kind of got off to a late start, I figured that I'd make some calls and stuff and handle things at home, instead of burning an hour, 30 minutes here, 30 minutes back, because I only had like a three hour window, so it gave me more opportunity to work, and then I went And did the football stuff.
Justice's team is regressing, man. They're not pulling flags. So we lost to a team that I don't think is better than us, which kind of sucks. Maybe the kids just had an off night.
No, this is the second night. So you see a run, and they're just all over the place. So we're going to start focusing on that today and really try and get it developed and get them back on track. This is the non-mandatory day, and then Wednesday will be the actual practice.
So how many kids show up for non-mandatory practice? About half. Not bad. And you know what's funny?
Those kids are all progressing. Those kids are catching the ball better. Yeah, they're all doing things better. Does your quarterback come to the extra practice?
Yeah. He should. He needs to work. Both of them.
He needs listening skills. He does need listening skills. Yes, yes. Because we were getting our ass kicked and...
You know what you should do with him today? Sorry to interrupt, but I have a great idea. I feel like you do mean to interrupt. Go ahead.
Well, no. You should just work on listening. Tell him, he can do whatever he wants, as long as when you tell him to do something, he does exactly what you said right then. So every once in a while, yell, "Run left!
Run right! " So we were getting our ass kicked in the game, like Simon says. Sorry, go ahead, get your ass kicked in the game. " Sure, everybody gets a chance.
Jesus Christ. I'm not interrupting, I'm adding. You are. No.
You are interrupting. You're very touchy today. You're bringing it out of me. You're very touchy.
Okay, go ahead. Go ahead. Are you done? And now you're going to shut down?
She's going to light my cigar. I'm letting you tell your story. You're going to shut down? I'm trying to add to the show, but apparently you don't want me to, so I'll just light my cigar.
So anyways, we got a complimentary kind of drive. And I tell him to throw the ball to the center. Yes. I didn't know if I was allowed.
I was just waiting. I tell him to throw the ball to the center and he disregards that and he decides to throw to my son and gets an interception game over. And I'm like, dude, maybe thought you'd like it if he threw to your son. No, my kid's the number one target.
We have two different offenses and Justice can catch because he's been playing football with Jacks for so long. Right. So he's a primary, right? So you have the Jacks offense, and then another one.
No, Jacks isn't on play with first grade second. Oh, Justin, sorry, sorry, Justin. Actually, it goes by the quarterback. I call it by the quarterback offense and quarterback offense.
Oh, their names. So he threw to him, threw a pick, game over. I'm like, man, I'm trying to get the ball to other people, man. So that didn't go well.
Did he catch it? No, he threw an interception. Threw an interception. You're not paying attention.
No, you said a pick. You'll never be a quarterback, Palmer. No, I'll never be a quarterback. I can't even throw.
You threw an interception. Oh, that's what a pick is. Yeah. Oh, okay.
I wasn't familiar with the term, and I wasn't allowed to ask questions. We've been talking about football for probably about a hundred episodes. I feel like I can detach this thing and beat you to death with it. Probably, but then it's on camera and you'll go to prison.
No, I feel like it's going to be justified. Yeah, he was kind of taking them on. That's not the way it works. Yeah, that's how it works.
He's not. Clearly, officer, you can see. He aggravated him completely, officer, you can clearly see. He's the unstable man.
Judge, if you watch the video, you can see him provoke him by talking during a podcast where they both speak. As he was speaking, he was cutting him off. I was adding to the story. I don't know if Phil's laughing or dying over there, I can't tell.
He's got the mask back on. Well, cause we're at 19 minutes. Oh, he's ready to go. We're just jumping to it like that?
That's just the way it's going to go? I mean, I figured I'd hit the button. Was your story over? Was that it?
I mean, I think that that is over for me. I don't know. I don't really have anything else to add about football. Did you guys lose?
Jax's team lost. I mean, Justice's team lost. Oh, see? You did it, too.
Jax's team got an interception. They did well. They kicked ass, and then Jax had a one-handed interception, which was sick. Nice.
Yeah. Oh, wow, really? Yeah. Your wife didn't put up the video.
Normally, she has that kind of stuff. We didn't have it on recording. And of course we didn't have it. And they won.
Normally she's good at that. Yeah, they won. And now I have to coach their team this week. Like me run their offense.
And we did a practice. Is that different from any other week? As far as Jax's team, yeah. Yes, Michael.
You raised your hand. Is this where you transitioned into being the sole coach for football? This is it. No.
This is it. This is how they get them. This is it. You know what?
We're all sick this week, Mike. Can you fill in? Sure. Not a problem.
They never show up again. Well, the coach that runs the team is, he's a really good guy. Yeah, everybody's got their limits, he's just beat down by the children. He said the one don't listen, the only kids listen.
That's a different team. Oh, sorry. Maybe these kids don't listen either. They do listen.
They're good kids. What's the next sport coming around? Basketball. You coach basketball.
I'm assistant coach in basketball. For now. You're assistant coach in it now? Yeah, for now.
It was, it started out as scorekeeper. That's right, it did. I'm just going to give up my job, my businesses here, and just coach my kids. Can you get paid to be a coach?
Yeah, eventually. Why don't you be one of the referees? They get paid. They do.
And I'm still there. Right, you're still there. There's some favoritism. You get a better view because you're right in it.
Yeah, the perfect seats. Right. I think you get like 50 bucks a game, too. Oh, yeah, I can retire.
We didn't talk about your Sunday. I didn't do anything Sunday. I didn't do anything. Nothing?
Not a single thing? We watch TV. I did a little bit of yard work because now I've hired Steve to cut the big portion of my yard. Oh yeah?
So I have to cut the back more often. Steve from upstairs? Yeah, I have to cut the back more often because the dog's allergic to grass now. Oh.
So when it gets long. What? Whiskey, my younger boxer, when the seed pods pop up, you know, and they can rub him, he gets his sores under his arms, he gets them across his chest, wherever the grass hits him. Oh, he's got to lay turf?
Nah, I just cut it twice a week, so now I'm hiring Steve to cut the big part once a week, and that way, eh, same matter what not. Just keep all the dirt there, that was there before. Oh, the grass has grown back. We got those damn sprinklers fixed, the grass is real thick and luscious now, it's everywhere.
You know, it's killing whiskey. Right, it's killing whiskey. Welcome to Cigar Hustlers podcast. What about Saturday?
We talked about Saturday, I went to Sanford, saw Casey, Celery City, and um, um, What's the Country Western bar? Pohunk? No, no, what's the place that Jimmy used to work at? West End Saloon.
West End Saloon, yeah. West End Saloon? Yeah. They had a live band.
The girls wanted to go hear live music. Did Eddie Gay Palmer get really shit-faced? No, with the medicine now, she can't. Oh, she can't.
So it's better for me. It works out well for me. If she has more than three drinks, she gets sick. Like sick to her stomach, she doesn't like throw up.
So how many did she have? Three. Actually, I think she had four. " Then we went to McDonald's in Sanford.
Did you? So the medicine like puts a lemon on you? It makes you nauseous. It makes you, alcohol makes you nauseous.
Oh. But the McDonald's is kind of scary. It was the one right outside of downtown. Yeah, yeah.
Somebody had shot the menu board. Oh. It was a big bullet hole in it. That's nice.
And it was all cracked. Was it by the Big Mac? Teach you guys not to have my fucking McFlurry. It's still down?
We got Happy Meals. Just me and Megan. Adrian wasn't hungry because she was sick to her stomach. Oh.
Did McDonald's get sued for that? For bullets? For getting shot? For the machine being down?
For shots fired? Yeah, they did for the milkshake machine. Yeah. Yeah, because they've been faking it.
Yeah. Well, fuck. I couldn't have guessed that. " Welcome to Cigar Hustlers' Podcast Feature, Phil's Fun Facts.
Were there any costumes on Saturday or anything? Well, the Country Bar has an upstairs, it looks like an apartment or something upstairs, so the outside seating area, there's these stairs that are blocked off, they have a little gate, and people kept coming from the other, what's the name of it, Phil? What's the original place? West End Sloan.
Yeah, because it's coming out of West End, dressed as witches and all the scary women from Disney movies. And the Hocus Pocus ladies, and it was really weird. They would come up, they go upstairs, then they come back down and go back in. It was really weird.
Interesting. Nice. Yeah. Oh, okay.
Okay. Hello, peoples. Welcome to Cigar Hustlers Podcast. They're not gonna stop as well.
So the lady from Hocus Pocus, the blonde, she did a really good job. That was the one that the lady from Sex and the City played that character? Yeah, so everybody was clapping when it came out the last time, and she stopped and sort of danced and twirled around, looked just like the lady from the movie. No shit.
What's not on camera else? It was kind of like in 1979, during the Skylab 4 mission. We gotta get some music. Welcome to Cigar Hustlers Podcast Feature, Phil's Fun Facts.
nobody hit on 80 or anything like that no drunk guy like none of that because that's usually the fun part that's why we don't go to Bulldog's Pub anymore he's on his camera he's on his camera too wow you know you think that we take the hit you know what I mean me and you we could have released the show We could've done the show without him, you know, we had one, and we did, we put one together in case he was gone all week, and we're gonna release it on Wednesday, you know, and then he shows up, and we say, you know what, we're gonna, we, we will pull that show because we want to do the show with you, you are our brethren, right, you're part of the team, you are part of the show, part of this podcast, and we just had to cover a couple things here, right, and then he gets mad, he gets mad, walks out, he gets mad, still on his camera too, it's one angry alien, yeah, he's very angry today, all right, are you ready for Is that Phil's fun facts? We're waiting on you. I was born ready. We're waiting on you.
Waiting on you, Phil. Welcome to Cigar Hustlers Podcast. Just one more thing. I'm just kidding.
I don't have anything. Okay, don't hit the button again. Just let him go. We don't have to hit the button again.
We've played it 17 times. All right, go ahead, Phil. Phil's fun facts. Phil's fun facts.
Tell me about the spaceship. Yeah, it does have a woody. You know about it? You have to fucking suck the shit out of it.
What? You know about this fun fact already? Well, you're an alien. That's unbelievable.
You're an alien. Read it. In 1979, during the Skylab 4 mission, astronauts smuggled cigars into space and smoked them in the space station. Nuh-uh.
I wonder if they hid them in their prison wallets. And Phil said that would have done and left his plug at home. You know, he has to read it exactly the way he's written. He can't add into it or just get the general idea or nothing.
He just reads it exactly. So I'm going to start writing it worse. Verbatim, yeah. I read it exactly how you wrote it.
That's what I mean. Can't you ad lib? I mean, I throw in names of other people at the stories I read. Yeah.
What do you want me to say? Palmer said? I don't understand. No, it was written for another person, obviously, because you weren't here yesterday.
Yes, and then he didn't adjust it. And then I didn't adjust it because we were just running. Because he's irresponsible. What do you want me to do?
I'm just the talent. You're supposed to be the writer. I like that we're falling apart here. Go to camera two, because we have something to cover here.
Yes, let's get going. We have something to cover here that is very, very important. Now, without going into detail, Phil, we covered a major story on our Patreon. A major story about the character and individual of Boots.
Boots, our friend Boots. Our dear friend Boots. And we asked on the Patreon to get some comments, to get the opinions of our patrons of the Patreon, and they responded. Of course they did.
They responded. And we're going to tell you some of the things that were said, but we don't want, listen, if you're not a Patreon member, you don't get to know what we were talking about. Right. You're going to have to buy into the show to figure out what we're talking about.
You're going to have to figure it out. But, I'm going to tell you. Don't tell them. I'm going to tell you some of these comments without mentioning names.
You shouldn't say any comments. You should make them buy. No. No, no.
This isn't on the Patreon. These comments. Yeah. Going to do yours first?
You want me to do mine first? Go ahead. Yours seem... I'm right here ready to go.
Looks like a fucking thick piece of notebook there. A lot of comments. Time to bring back Karen, one listener said. Wow.
Boots did him dirty, another listener said. I don't remember what this was about. Dirty. Well, we can't talk about that.
We can't talk about that right now. Make no deals with Boots unless you do your research. Oh, yeah. Karma is a bitch.
Boots, remember that. Mikey is 100% correct. Gotta do better. Are these all for Mikey and Palmer?
No, no, no. These are legit. These are legit. Sorry, bro.
That's dirtbag shit. Don't mess up your seat at the table. Oh. So, finally, he should have to give those cigars out as a penalty.
Oh. See, now, I didn't read it exactly what it said because he had typos in it, so if I read it the way he wrote it, it would be, he should have Ty give those cigars out as a penalty. Yeah. Well, I understood what he said, so I, you know, fixed it as I'm reading it.
You're seeing, you're right. I'm a professional. I have, uh, you're completely right, man. Hard to trust someone right in front of you when they can't do the right thing behind your back.
Integrity is everything. Oof. Powerful. Let's see what else we got here.
Uh, doo doo doo doo doo doo. I know there's more. Oh, yeah. Sorry.
Let's see. Mm-hmm. You know what, one listener said. One listener said, Michael Joseph, fucking damn.
Burn you with my smokes. This one is, Robbie is the one who should have stepped up and corrected the situation. But, But, Phil should be aware. Boots, boots should be aware.
Yeah, boots should be aware. You could tell who you are if you look at who your friends are. Yeah, it's true. That's very true.
My favorite one? This is my favorite one. I was going to say, there's one that you haven't read yet that's my favorite too. Great.
Now I have to check my back pocket for my wallet every time I'm around boots. That's the one. And that one was from Tia. My goodness, that one was from Tia.
Well, who's now a patron on the Patreon? So there you have it. I feel, you know, thank you very much for the patrons of the Patreon to reaching out for myself and Mr. Palmer.
It's good to hear that we have good people on the Patreon and that you guys all sided with me and I really truly appreciate that. I hope, I hope that Boots will take this as a valuable lesson and that he will move forward from it and he will learn from his mistakes. Learn from this. Yes.
And never do something like that again. Be a better person. Yeah. And if you want to know what we're talking about, just go ahead and sign up to the Patreon.
Right. That's all you got to do. It's that easy. That's it.
$15 a month. Phil, do you have anything to say on Boots' behalf? Sorry or anything? Any remorse?
He'll talk about it on the Patreon. Oh, okay. Oh, all right. Interesting.
All right. So, news and news now? News and news now? I just want you to know, I called Robbie on the last show.
No, no, no. Patreon, Patreon. Okay. Oh.
Yeah, probably better. I guess he can upset again. From the four corners of the world, all the cigar industry news you could possibly need. The Cigar Hustler Podcast Report, with Mike Toon.
C. Newman plans the American Speaker Cannon for 2024. Whoa. C.
Newman's "The American" line. One of it is named after the 35th Speaker of the House of Representatives. What? Yeah, the bad cigar is getting bigger.
Oh, really? Yes. We can't. The smaller way is not working.
Let's try more. Exactly. That's what happens. The Americans.
What? Yeah, I mean, look. I don't know what else to say. Yeah, the American cigar, I just wasn't a fan of it.
I didn't think it was good at all. Wait, isn't. That's the one that they put in the basketball thing. What?
Is it? Yeah, that's from United? C. Newman.
C. Newman Plans the American Speaker Cannon. Oh, I'm sorry. The American Cigar was the one.
Never mind. I apologize. Okay. The American Speaker Cannon will be a six and a quarter by six...
A lot of that going around for you today. Roll the size. Size, the thickest for the line to date. It's expected to have an MSRP of $25 per cigar.
We'll enter production next week and then age for one year, meaning the first cigar should be ready by November 5th, 2024, Election Day. I wonder what the staff meeting was like that. Oh, that's a good. What do you think?
You know, the small ones aren't working. What do you think we can do? Some guy goes, let's add more tobacco. Let's make it bigger.
Bigger is always better. Let's make it offset. Huge. The flavor.
This will be the sixth... Oh, they've tried five other ones. This will be the sixth different... Somebody's gotta be buying these damn things.
Apparently somebody is. Somebody's gotta be buying them. Oh, the made in America people. America.
America. Look for the union label. C. Newman introduced it in 2019.
It's the brainchild of Drew Newman who wanted to create an all-American cigar. Made in the USA. They use a Florida Sun Ground wrapper from that place that, you know, they have all that five acres of tobacco. Buy a box, you get a Stetson.
The binder is, you know, it's also American-made. Also made in America. The binder is Connecticut Broadleaf from Foster Farms in Windsor, Connecticut, where it also grows the Havana seed tobacco used for the filler. There's also Pennsylvania Tobacco in the filler.
Five boxes, you get a horse. An American horse, not one of those Arabians. No, no, no. Well, the All-American Bland is a novel.
It's not really what makes the American unique. Every other part of the production is also made in America, something no other cigar can claim. Aha. Oh.
That includes the Bands, made by Action Label in Sanford. Great place. We like the people there. We do like Action Label.
So the Bands might be the best part of the whole thing. It could be. Could be the best part. The boxes are made by Millennium Wood Box in Miami, even the cigar molds and box hinges are produced in America, predictably the cigar- What about the people?
The people that make the cigars? Are they all American? Oh, let's find out. The cigars are made in America, so yes, Michael, they are.
But what if they're just visiting? What if they're just visiting? Just saying. We don't know.
We don't know. Could be Cuban rollers that are just visiting? I would want, I need a signature. You need a birth certificate.
For example, social. I want, no, I want a 23andMe breakdown. Remember, I don't think anybody's all American. Inside of the box.
Dude, is there a genetic for America? No. I didn't think there was. We're all made up of other things.
We are? Yes. At the end of the day? Yeah, like you're Polish.
I am? Yes. He is. You are?
No, no, I'm not. You're not? No, Scotch Irish. Scotch Irish.
Angry drunks. Oh. Which is must be why my wife hates me. Albeit not consecutively, in the House of Representatives, oh wait, it's named after Joseph Cannon, from 1860, I wonder why they picked him.
Because it's a Cannon, it's a 60 gauge. You think so? So they got, who are we gonna name it after? I don't know, find somebody who's big.
Find something with the big last name. Oh, there you go. Boom. Boom.
A lot of, I feel like there were some Quaaludes passed around at the meeting. Oh, you think so? Yeah. C.
Newman? Yeah, they went, I don't know. No, I don't think so. They don't seem like Quaalude-y people.
I mean, it's not 1980, so nobody's Quaalude-y people. Oh, that's okay maybe. You know what I mean? More of an LSD.
Yeah, maybe they're more of an LSD. Some LSD? Yeah, or marijuana. Marijuana, they all chill.
It's American. They all chill. This is all alleged. C.
Newman employees, and the founders do drugs. No, not even close. No. Now we're going to do a third show.
Ring, ring, ring. This is our apology tour. Ring, ring, ring. Hello.
C. Newman. On behalf of the Cigar Hustlers podcast, we'd like to apologize for our terrible humor. Can't come get our pants!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! United Kingdom to vote on banning tobacco sales to anyone born after 2008! Can't pull sponsorship! Can't pull sponsorship!
Or like you would pay and then pull, we'd do that too. Cash the check and then they can pull out. We're done, we're done here. I know, I don't have enough room!
It's Keesker, it's Keesker! Sounds like a red light district job. The United Kingdom could become the next country to ban tobacco sales to future generations. Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has unveiled a plan, does that sound like an English name, Rishi Sunak?
I am Rishi Sunak, that wasn't a British accent, he's got a pipe, smokes with a pipe. Unveiled a plan to ban tobacco sales to anyone born on or after January 1st, 2009. Doesn't include me, so let's say you guys can't smoke cigars. So, anybody born in 2008 or later.
There'll be no tobacco for anyone born after. Ah, so anyone born in 2009 or... For the latter year. Technically, this would raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco by one year beginning in 2027.
Currently, the requirement is that you must be 18 years old. The United Kingdom has been studying a generational tobacco ban for more than a year. We have been studying, been taking a look at... Following the lead set by New Zealand.
I hate New Zealand. What do they do? They just have green stuff. They're very green.
They're very green. Yeah. Like that's the place where we go to fucking film Braveheart and fucking Lord of the Rings. Yeah.
Cause it's so beautiful there because there's no smoke. Yeah. Because nobody wants to live. During COVID, they locked the country.
You couldn't get in or out. Yeah. There's nobody that lives there. Yeah.
Oh, there's a lot of people that live there. I don't believe you. Who? On the field names?
Mr. Jones, Mr. Smith. Yes.
Robert Shoemaker. Robert Schumann. Let's see. What's the guy's name?
John Cannon. The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. He has a summer house there. Yeah, he has a summer house there.
The guy from Gladiator. Yeah, the guy from Gladiator. Russell Crowe. Right.
S. bills were introduced in California, Hawaii, and Nevada, three of my least favorite states. They called the various forms of generational tobacco bans, though none gained traction. Sunak, the leader of the conservative party, has said that this will be a free vote.
How can we... Meaning that members of parliament will be able... Wait, it's not a free vote then. Let's deprive the youth.
The guys with the wigs are voting. Oh, the white wigs. The parliaments? Yeah.
They still have wigs? They still wear wigs? Yeah, they still wear wigs. They do.
You do see the irony in the fact that there is a cigarette named after them, for the love of God? The Parliament? Yes. There used to be a gay place in Orlando called the Parliament House.
That's probably why they're up in arms about it. Probably so. No more tobacco! Because we have the cigarette named after us.
Right. Now I'm going to go and smoke my cigar. I'm ready to move on. Are you?
Yes. I'm not. Oh, please. Continue.
Aladino Sumatra heads to stores! Oh, that was it for the story, okay. Yeah, that was the end, that's where it ends. Yesterday, JRE Tobacco began shipping its newest blend, the Aladino Sumatra.
I'm gonna light up on this one, just so you know. The blend's roots go back seven years. In 2016, Julio and Justo Aroa began planting Sumatra seed tobacco at the Aroa family sprawling farm outside of Donnelly, Honduras. Oh, yeah?
Okay, wait, I'll be Julio, you'll be Justo. Okay. What should we do today? Let's grow some Sumatra tobacco.
Oh, great idea. Let's go put the seeds in the dirt. The tobacco is used as a wrapper, covering a blend the company describes as lighter than usual. Oh, sorry.
Tobacco varieties of undisclosed old. Wow. The Aladino Sumatra is debuting in a single 6x52 Toro size of a hollow cigar. No.
Oh. Husto is very nice. I like Husto. I love Husto.
I didn't know he had a brother named Julio. Me neither. They obviously keep him locked up. Julio Justo.
Julio and Justo. I hear he has a daughter named Genevieve. Really? That wasn't even funny.
I know. It starts with a G, I guess. I tried. Sometimes it's a swing and a miss.
Sometimes it happens, alright? It's a lot of pressure here. Hey, you miss a hundred percent. I can't.
Michael, you miss a hundred percent of the shots you don't take. So, good for you. Speaking of those boxes, fans of JRE Tobacco & Tobacco might notice they look a bit different. Triangles?
Everybody loves triangles. " Keep it the same. Part of the change is actually an omission, so it's better to do less. Is it gonna be shipping crates?
This is the first Aladino cigar that does not feature the Aladino painting on the inside of the box. Gusto, you're Gusto, I'm Julio. How can we save money? Let's remove the paintings.
Oh yeah, 'cause that guy paints every single box. Yes, no, no, he must go. Feed the growth. Feed the growth.
I'm feeding it. I'm feeding it. Excellent. And triangles.
Jerry's, you know, if they got together those people from last week, they cut the, instead of the big hole, they put all the little holes? The little holes? The little hole guys. That would be very...
Industry revolutionary. Industry revolutionizing. No pictures on the inside. Little tiny holes everywhere.
Yeah. You know what? I think that the next step would be for like a box that is a little battery on the side of it. Right.
Oh, they have that. They would not let them. No, no, and then I would just incorporate a blow dryer, just something that just hits it with dry heat. Doesn't that dry down faster?
Yeah, it would be next generation though. You guys smoke faster. It would be so revolutionary. It would go through the cigars faster because they're drying out and becoming brittle.
And then we put the little holes up top, so that just blows right out. If there was only an Oasis pack you could put in it. I wish there was an Oasis pack. All right, let's find out.
If somebody could create some type of pillow that would keep humidity. Right. Kind of two-way control, that I could just throw in a pack. And just let it go.
Throw in the box and just leave it. Peel off plastic and just toss it in. Yeah, just leave it, forget it. You know what would be good if it had a little card that turned colors?
That way I would know when it went back. You would know when it would go back. That would be fantastic. That would be amazing.
The only way you can make that better is if you attach it to an app. Oh, what a great idea. Yeah. We should copyright that.
And that way there would be a notification on my phone saying that I suck because I don't take care of my cigars. Right. Because the cobbler's kids have the worst shoes. That's right, college kids have to wear shoes.
That's right. All right, let's read about this cigar. Okay. All Saint Solamente 2023 shipping.
It's huge. Huge. What's up, huge? In 2019, the then new All Saint Cigar quietly released a limited digital.
Shh. We're gonna release an LE. It's gonna be a limited. Don't tell anybody.
We don't wanna talk about it. Don't tell nobody. We won't sell anything and nobody will know. It'll be fine.
It's a 5x58 Toro that uses Ecuador and Habano wrapper covering the binder grown in Nicaragua and a combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco. Oh, I'm sorry. A combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco. Nicaragua.
Oh, I really got a... Today, the company is beginning to ship the 2023 versions of the Solamente, or the 2019s that they didn't tell anybody about. Oh, my God. Which is offered in the same size and blend.
Just a coincidence. Same size and blend. As the ones we didn't tell anybody we had. With four years of age, though.
Right. However, this is... These have been aging for an additional four years. This is where the similarities end.
Super delicious. 43 minutes, super delicious. 43 minutes, super delicious. We should just do a compilation of all delicious.
Oh, I have that one. Delicious, delicious. That was one blow. You have to fucking suck the shit out of it.
Alright, so now we start a new one. Mmm, delicious. And then super delicious. But I want all the deliciouses together.
Right, there's only two. No, there's, there's more delicious. He says delicious a lot. Okay, well, I have to look for that.
Where the similarities end, in 2023, version features an MSRP of $20 per cigar up from, oh, that's why they held them. It's because they age four years, additionally. 95, now they're $20. Mmm.
They're aged. Stock went up. By age, we mean we put them aside because we didn't tell anybody. Mmm.
Coming 23, boxes at 23. 23? 23 cigars in a box. Michael Jordan?
Can you put two? The company plans to release Solamente as a limited edition each year. You'd have to put like a filler in it. Yeah, one of those blocks at the end and then something.
7, 7, and then 9. Hmm. If you did three rows, what if you just did two rows? It's a bigger cigar, right?
What if you did a row of... It's a 5x58. What if you did a row of 12 and 11? Toro.
What? 12 and 11? Yeah. That would work too.
But then it's a longer box. It is. That's an awful lot more little holes. So many more.
You still got that guy. The little hole guys can get very tight. Revolutionary holes. Yeah, you got that guy.
No paint on the inside. And more holes. I don't want the holes. I'm very tired of the holes.
I'm very tired of my ridge from on the hammering. I'm very tired of the holes. It's a Mexican guy, huh? Let's see.
Yeah, it's Mexican. The Chinese Mexican. Next year, the 23 count box will go to 24 count boxes. So then it's a lot easier.
Nice and even. Four rows of six. Four rows of six. Right.
Or two rows of 12. Two rows of 12. Yeah. But then we still have the guy tired from other holes.
Four, three rows of eight. Oh, I know. I know. So many choices here.
Where do we go with 24? One row of 24. You know, I think. Super long box.
Yeah, one row of 24. Super long. How amazing would that be? That would be fucking hilarious.
Give me a hundred box count, single stick across the board. All the way out. What do you mean you don't have the shelf space? Yeah.
I don't even want to hear it. I only want one facing, it's fine. Listen, it's just the one. Clearly, there could be one.
How can you not fit one box? It's got to be one brand that you could just remove some of the stuff. Right, just get rid of all the Espinosa, the 17 boxes they have from there. Oh my God.
If you looked at the 80/20 rule, you know that 80% of the humor doesn't do anything. It's only 20%. So that's a lot. Right.
It's easy. Exactly. That'd be a cool looking box though. 100?
Yeah. But make it out of cardboard. Dude, UPS would fucking, their Abita would go through the roof. How much is shipped at?
$135. Oh, good. But they're $3 cigars. Cigars!
Yeah. It's gonna be fucking phew! Oh, sorry. Are you ready?
Yeah. I was reading the story. Oh, we're waiting on that. There's a Mickey Pegg quote, and you know, it's huge.
It's huge. It's huge. A lot of thumbs up. Yeah.
A. A. in Nicaragua. Excellent.
The Diesel Sideshow returns for 2023. This actually looks kind of cool. It does. I like the box, I like the way they presented it.
The Diesel? Diesel. It's a freak show. It's called a freak show box or some shit.
No, go ahead. I don't have to read it. Tell me. Tell me.
No, I want to know about it. Tell them what the price is, too. 95. Get the fuck out of here.
There's only eight cigars. You don't even have that. It's not in the story. Yeah, exactly.
Last year, the diesel brand released seven unique cigars, perhaps eight cigars, as part of a limited edition sideshow sampler. Now the sampler is once again shipping to stores. The cigars are used in Ecuador and Habano, Pennsylvania, Mexican, a lot of different things. Let's see.
Sampler has, these are the cigars that are in the sampler. The Frog Boy. Oh, we're trying that again. Yeah.
It's Tuesday. The Frog Boy. Oh, no meeting. Yeah.
Cause I'm here. He'll answer. Penhead, Two-Headed Nightingale, Bearded Lady, Elephant Man, Bohemian Twins, and The Strong Man. Justin.
He's a terrible person. Yeah, what a great friend he is, huh? how do I say it again? Cuba Libre?
yeah, that would work. Traditionally, a Cuba Libre contains three cigars rolled individually, but the twisted together almost like the vines of a plant. Last year, there were a thousand samplers released. Production numbers from 2023 have not been announced, but the Cy Joe's described Interpress release as a limited production annually released.
Are you there? Hello? was that hello why is it not ringing i don't know it didn't ring who'd you call oh it says call field oh i called matt booth oh we're gonna call matt booth and we're gonna make a three-way call justin andrews oh yeah if the phone he has to answer matt booth matt booth has blocked you i don't blame him i don't either to be honest justin andrews hurry up block michael right now He texted him. He's going to call it.
Write a voicemail from him. Call Jack. Jack can call him, too. You think Jack can call?
Yeah. They're buds. Remember he made that trip to come see him and stuff when he made me hold the camera all night and take pictures of him? That would be hilarious if you called Jack.
Because Jack will answer. Call Jack. We'll call Jack. Jack, we need a favor.
We just placed a really big order this morning, Jack. We need a favor. I want to call it really big. Okay, we passed.
A medium-sized order. Hey, we're your friends. Yes sir. Hey, you're on the podcast.
See? First ring. First ring. First ring.
Jack's the man. What's up, guys? What's up, buddy? How are you?
We need a favor. Good. Good. How are you?
I'm doing well. Hey, listen, we need a favor. Uh-oh. I need you to three-way call Justin Andrews right now.
He doesn't answer my calls. He's supposed to say whose car we take. And then merge him in. All right.
Let's see. Let's see if this works. All right. He gotta put us on hold.
Oh, no, it's hit the merge button. It'll do it automatically. He's gotta add call. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. I think he knows how to do it. Yeah, I think he knows how to do it. He's got big thumbs.
He's got really big thumbs. Let's see, it's quiet. We're on hold. It's gonna be happening.
Let's see. We're still waiting. This is great. Still waiting.
Riveting podcasting. Let's go. Still waiting. This is us on hold.
Six seconds. Hello? He's not answering me. Oh!
Son of a bitch! Oh! Damn it. Just so you know, Matt Booth sent us right to voicemail.
Yeah, he wouldn't answer it all. Yeah. I can't always answer your call. See, I told you.
It wasn't even a whole ring. No. It's quick. Jack's amazing.
Jack's amazing. Hey, we got an Espinosa event coming up, don't we? Next Friday. Next Friday.
Smashing Pumpkins event. A week from this Friday. Yes. I just packed up a bunch of lighters and ashtrays and bottles of tequila.
Oh, that sounds fun. Boxes of cigars, signed by... Greg said Guy Fieri was coming. What happened?
Greg said Guy Fieri was coming. Jack Fieri is coming. Jack Fieri is coming. Jack Fieri is coming.
My bad. He's better. Will Erik Espinosa be there? Erik Espinosa will be in the house, and we're going to be on the podcast and put Erik on the spot.
Sounds good. I like that. I like that. We're going to do that.
Yeah. All right. We'll have a good time. Yes.
Well, hey, thank you for being a great friend. Unless you have a little league game or something that you can't beat. Right. Yeah.
I might be late. I might be late. We'll see. We'll see.
Calm down. Everybody calm down. Some lifting competition. There'll be something going on.
No, no. It ain't about lifting. It ain't about lifting. It ain't about me.
It's about my kids. There'll be time for you to eat or something. I'm only gonna take care of my kids. My kids are the most important thing to me.
My wife and my kids. Will there be a nosh at the event? A who? A food.
I don't know. You don't want a nosh? I thought you're doing pork fudge. A nosh?
It's a food. Does it be food? Sure, there'll be a nosh. I wonder what the fuck that means.
La Comida, La Comida. I'm going to try to, I'm going to try to talk Hector into coming with us. Oh, yes. Please bring Mr.
Warmth. We don't have room for 17 people. Mr. Warmth has been on a, on a seven day trip to the Northwest where, uh, he hosts a big event called Hectoberfest.
Oh my goodness. Oh, wow. I'm actually meeting him at Caribbean tonight at six o'clock. He gets off a plane at five and, you know, he's so eager to see his family.
And after seven days, he's going right to Caribbean. I bet. I bet. That sounds about right.
He's been another night in a cigar shop. That sounds like Hector. You know what I mean? He told us that last night.
I was in the backyard. I was having a cigar. My wife was sitting there. Cessie was sitting there.
And he told us that. And then when I hung up, I said, "Cessie, if I was on a trip for seven days and I got off a plane and said, "Hey, listen, I'm going to go have a cigar in a shop, I'll be home later. " Not well. Jack would be a single man the next day.
Hector can pull it off, man. He's Mr. Warmth. He can pull that shit off.
I'm not going to be home as soon as I land. His wife is probably like, "There's been a flight delay, honey. " No, no. " His wife's going to be like, "Fuck.
Thank God. One more day. Take your time. " Don't hurry.
It's fine. Yeah, no. We're going to be all right. I go to bed at 10, get home at 11.
Yeah, do me a favor. Do me a favor. 11 o'clock or past now. Give me time for the sleeping medicine to kick in.
Yeah. I don't want to be disturbed. Well, I appreciate you calling me, man. Thank you for always answering, Jeff.
Yeah. You'll have a bunch of cigars and a bunch of swag for you. Super excited. I can't wait.
Great. We'll pillage it before you. Great event. But I'm bringing tin signs too, so hopefully we'll have a good event.
But there's, you know, a couple of signed bottles of tequila, there's boxes of cigars signed by a guy. Oh, there's Cicari Aficionados, signed by Guy. Oh, nice. I'm so excited.
I can't, I can't wait till he gets here. You know, I don't think I can keep up with, with, with the previous pumpkin events, but hopefully we can, uh, we can do well. I believe, I believe you can do better. I think there's a bit.
I believe you can do better. I think how much higher he can throw the pumpkins. Is there a, a pumpkin throwing gun? You have to smash the pumpkin.
You have to smash the pumpkin in order to see what you want. You don't have to throw a pumpkin up to smash it. You can just smash it. Oh yeah, but we like up.
Everybody throws up. There are usually some angry people that try and slam it down. It doesn't look as good. But he got hit by a pumpkin yet?
No, we've had some close calls, though. We've had a few close calls. There's a waiver. Don't worry.
Full disclaimer. Full disclaimer. I saw him at the Dolphin game. What was that about?
Yeah, he's a big Dolphins fan. He was living it up. Huge. I didn't know he was a Dolphins fan.
I thought he had joined the Tampa Bay Carousel over there. No, no, he loves the Dolphins. He loves the Finzo, baby. Finzo the left, Finzo the right, Finzo, Finzo, Finzo.
Wow, thanks a lot, fellas. You know, but what's really kind of, and let's talk about a couple quick things before I let you go. Number one, it's really amazing to see a team put up 70 points and then fuck the dog the next week against the Bills, who then lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in England. But I will tell you what, there are six, I think it's six NFL teams have scored over 60 points in a game, and the following week they are one and five collectively.
I believe it. I believe it. Because you know what happens? They run a little less.
I don't think anybody had to turn around the Dolphins to get 48 drops on them. Yeah, I never get no shit. Yeah, yeah. There was no hard work at that practice.
We're going to be five and one. Again, again, cautiously optimistic. We have played the 29th, 30th, and 31st worst teams in the NFL and I think we're about to play one of the worst in Carolina. So the record, while it is good, we are playing some pretty bad fucking teams right now.
Right, true. You might say what? Say that again? I might have to say fucking on the air.
Oh yeah, sure. What the fuck we care. We're the number one podcast, we do whatever the fuck we want. Yeah, we have no sponsors for a reason.
Oh, listen, I got a text message. Tyler Jones sends his best. I love Tyler. Oh, yeah, we love number one Espinosa salesman.
He's a little upset he wasn't invited to this Smashing Pumpkins. He's invited. He's invited. It's never too late.
I told him the Hustler guys were not good at invitations. Yeah, yeah, that's true. All right, well, we gotta go. Love you.
Love you. Bye. All right. Thanks, too.
Bye. Jack Taranio. You'd think a sales officer would have better phone or session. Where do you think he's been?
Was he in the warehouse? I don't know what's going on. No, he's sitting in that little dungeon him in Hector's desk? No.
If Hector comes, and Jack comes, and Eric comes, we can't fit everybody at the table. I'm gonna say, first of all, Hector doesn't have to sit down here, that's fine. Okay. Okay, and number one, and number two, he's not sitting in Hector's office without Hector there.
That door's locked. No, they share the office. No, he's not allowed in there. Oh, Hector wouldn't let him in there.
Hector's not there? Bro. But my desk? No, no.
Sit over there. Yeah, you can go, you gotta be outside. You know I only have the one key. Yeah, I don't want you in here.
Look, and he probably just said that, legit. He probably did. I really don't want you in here. He just locks the door when he leaves.
Yeah. Jack comes in and... Biometric entrance or some shit, thumbprint only. Yeah.
Fancy cop things. Yeah, exactly. Alright, I got two more stories. Alright.
But we're out of time. Let's wrap them up real quick. Let's see. Alright, Powstanie, we'll take...
Oh my god, we're gonna skip Powstanie, Warbear... Two weeks ago, Lake County Cigars of... Lake Country, you fucking retard. You're a retard.
I don't understand why you can't get that right. Because there's a Lake County, Florida, just to have it. Oh my God. All right, I can edit that out in 68 minutes.
Okay, go to camera one, Phil. Camera one. Two weeks ago, Lake Country Cigars of Delafield, Wisconsin hosted the launch event for the Powstanie Vote Tech 2023. Now that cigar is beginning to arrive in stores nationwide.
Yes. 5x46 Bach Press Corona Gorda like previous Voteks released that features two wrappers, Ecuadoran Habano, and Mexican San Andreas. In an unbalanced barber pole design, which most barber pole cigars aim to mimic the appearance of a classic barber pole, where the alternating wrappers occupy roughly the same amount of surface area, the Votek has the Habano wrapper shown for most of the cigar. I've said it four times, you couldn't have corrected me in the beginning?
It worked to me in the beginning. Well, you just told me you were editing me out of the fact that you called the fucking Lake County and not Lake Country. Oh, I really wasn't going to edit it out. Oh, okay.
That's too much work. This will be the second show I've had to completely edit. Yeah. Underneath there's an Indonesian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic in Nicaragua.
Yeah. A modified version of the Pustania Habano Blend. It's set at 1340 per cigar and production is limited to 500 boxes of 21 cigars, which works out in three rows of seven. Yep, three rows of seven.
Right. And then there's the Syrian brown bear thing, blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, blah, blah. It's an amazing cigar.
It's an amazing cigar. All right, the 2019 was $12, 2020 was $13, 2021 was $13. Yeah. 40.
Yeah. You missed a, you could have went 12, 13, 14. No, it's a smaller cigar, I'm not an asshole. But there's inflation.
There is inflation. Rising cost of labor. That's why it cost the same as the Toro did two years ago. Oh.
Right. Delicious. See? This is the fourth release, also known as the War Bear, like the rest of the Poisson portfolio.
And then finally, Michael, Cigar Oasis Ships Oasis Pack. Oh, what? They must have heard us! Oh my god, you're crazy.
You can go back to too, Phil. Cigar Oasis is best known for its electronic humidification, but the company has gotten into the portable humidification space thanks to a new partnership with Intriga Specialty Products. Stop it right now. The company has announced that it has begun shipping the Oasis Pack a two-way humidification pack with its white-label agreement, meaning In the outside of the branding, the packs are identical to the boost packs, Cigar Waste is focusing on 69- Two-way, it's a two-way nuance.
Cigar Waste is focused on 69% relative, what is relative humidity? Relative humidity, it's about? Average? Yeah.
Oh, okay. Kind of. Kind of, sort of, maybe, 69. Which will offer both 67 grams and 8 grams, so it's the big one and the little one.
In addition, it's also offering the 62% and 75% and just in the small sizes. I hope they're focusing on 69. Like other two-way medication. Yeah, that's always better.
Yeah. 9? 9? Yeah.
9? A fun evening ruined by a period. Wow. Like other two-way vindication packs, the Oasis pack comes wrapped in blades, always swinging, always taking a swing.
All the consumer needs to do is take the pack out of the plastic bag, and the pack will begin working. It's like magic! Wow. It aims to equalize the humidity in its surrounding environment, meaning the air is too dry, it will add humidification.
Yeah. Conversely, the air is too moist. It will absorb X. Oh, I just need the app.
I need the Bova. Oh, I'm sorry. Does it have an app? Not the Bova.
No, this doesn't have an app. The Oasis pack. Oh, it does come with that little card thing, though. Turn from pink to blue, having a boy or a girl baby.
Thank God. When the pack needs to be replaced. Yes. It's just not, you don't have to look at it and tell if it's crispy.
Yeah, you don't have to take it out and go. You don't have to touch it. Right. You don't have to get it.
This one's... Oh, I think it's done. Look, it's hard. This one's dry.
This one's good. Oh, look, this one's still good. This one's still good. This one's still good.
This one's got a color. Right. Is that it? Yeah, that's all I get.
You got a short, you got a shop of the week? Yeah. Do you think? No.
Pronounce it correctly. Ah, great. Yeah. Lake County Cigars!
Lake Country. Lake Country Cigars. Lake Country Cigars. Pronounced correctly.
Okay, who's the listener of the week? Eric Link. My friend, Eric Link. Who's Mr.
Link? Link. Is that the guy from the Nintendo game? No, he has a karate studio in Orlando.
Oh, that guy. You're Eric, buddy. Your karate friend. Oh, he's listening now?
Yeah, he's been a listener. Nice. You don't want to make fun of him. He knows karate.
He can kick your ass, buddy. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah, he could. I imagine so.
Very old and brittle. Wow. Okay, we have to do something. Okay, well, say goodbye, but don't turn the cameras off.
Okay. Goodbye. Goodbye. This has been episode Episode 302, Cigar Hustler Podcast, thank you.
Goodbye. Now we're going to invite Tyler to the event, and I will send it to him. You don't want to just call him? Oh, we can call him.
Do you have his phone number? I think so. Do we need the cameras rolling for that? Yeah, let's keep it going.
Yeah, keep it going. This is not the end. We made a mistake. This is like the after-credits.
This is a song that never ends. It's like the after-credits thing on a Marvel movie. We should start doing that. Do something after the credits.
Yeah, maybe we start giving away cigars like five minutes after. Why are the disclaimers running on Facebook? " What's up, brother? Hey, you're on the secret portion of the podcast.
I just wanted to let you know that you-- This is the after-credits, like a Marvel movie. Yeah, it's like a Marvel movie. We wanted to cordially invite you to the Eric Espinosa Smashing Pumpkins event here at Cigar Hustler on October 20th, I believe. You're invited!
A week from this Friday. Yes. Oh my god, this is an honor. You're invited.
Our rep should be here. So, yeah, we need some rep here and we know that Alfredo won't show, so... I'll see what I can do. All right.
All right. Well, now you've been invited. I've been invited, I can't go Jack Taranio on you now, you know, after, you know, he wasn't invited, so. That's right, exactly.
Yeah, don't tell him you were invited to Greg's wedding, too, he'll get very upset. Yeah, he gets mad if he said, you know, he had to pass on Greg's wedding. Yeah, that was a hard pass. I wanted to be there.
You're very busy. You're the number one Espinosa salesman. It's difficult. It's very time consuming being the number one sales representative of Eric Espinosa.
Yes. He's even selling cigars on trains. Yeah. I mean, who does that?
Trains, fucking planes, fucking boats, whatever. Automobiles, whatever. Yeah. That's Tyler.
It's the business I've chosen, fellas. It's the business I've chosen. Yes. It's the nature of the beast.
We're doing a great job, Tyler. All right. Well, we'll let you go, but you're invited now. He's very busy.
I'm sure he's very busy. Beautiful. Beautiful. All right, buddy.
All right, Tyler. We'll see you later, bud. Take care. I'll catch you guys later.
