Cigar Hustlers Podcast Exclusive Interview with Scott Pearce

Cigar Hustlers Podcast Exclusive Interview with Scott Pearce

Episode Summary

Episode 332 of A Cigar Hustler's Podcast features the first media interview with Scott Pearce after news broke that he was stepping down as Executive Director of the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) to become President of the Cigar Association of America (CAA). Mike Stebankiewicz and Mike Palmer press him on why he made the move, and Pearce lays out the real difference between the two organizations: PCA is brick-and-mortar retailer driven with the trade show at its center, while CAA represents the broader industry — manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and mass-market — with a more corporate structure. He credits the team he recruited at PCA (Josh Habersky, Glynn Loope, Lisa Cox, Lisa Sigler and Antoine) for the progress retailers have noticed, and confirms both organizations are headquartered near Washington, D.C., so no relocation was required. He also revisits keeping the lights on at PCA during COVID, including having to fax the 2020 trade show cancellation notice to The Venetian under contract terms.

The most useful news for retailers and consumers: Pearce says the 2024 PCA trade show move to New Orleans should actually mean MORE places to hang out and smoke than Las Vegas. New Orleans lobbied to secure a smoking exemption for the convention hall through 2035, private smoking clubs are opening in the city, and organizers have been working on the Sugar Mill venue across from the convention center (2,000+ capacity) plus the possibility of closing off a block behind the hotels for outdoor tables, drinks and cigars in the Warehouse District. He frames the trade show itself as one of the industry's strongest advocacy tools — proving tax revenue and economic impact to city officials.

The rest of the episode is classic Hustlers banter and news. The guys open with a long, unfiltered stretch of dad life — a stomach-bug weekend, youth football coaching meltdowns, kids blowing communion money at Build-A-Bear, a Korean hot pot bill, and a roofing dumpster standoff that ended with Mike cutting the lock himself. In the news block they cover Scandinavian Tobacco Group's Q1 2024 results (handmade cigar and nicotine pouch growth offset by machine-made and smoking tobacco declines), RoMa Craft Tobac's upcoming Mastranza release with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Brazilian binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan filler plus the trademark chatter around the name, and Dan Gallagher's appointment as president of Smoker Friendly. Phil's Fun Facts covers how Connecticut shade tobacco is grown under tents, and the Patreon after-show smoke is the Ferio Tego Summa Torpedo.

Patrons of the Patreon. Hey, you guys are missing out. We could do a GoFundMe for the new one. Nah, nah, nah, I don't want to do that.

Those guys are doing a GoFundMe for that fireproof lap apron. Did you see that on Half Whale? Oh, no. A $280 apron thing you set in your lap.

You can place the, hold on, let me place my sheet down. Let me put my apron, right, my guard, my shield. I mean, I have burned some shorts. It's called Pants Shield or something.

No, that's a different thing in it. Pants Shield. Panty Shield's a different thing. Panty Shield?

That's not what it's called. That name's been used. It's called Fleshlight? Is that what it's called?

Maybe, I don't know. I've heard things about the fleshlight. Good things I've heard? I've heard good things.

Good things. Keeps you from burning things. Yeah, keeps you from burning things. Sounds pleasant.

Less chafe. You have a birthday soon, maybe I'll get you one. Ooh. Please don't do that.

Oh my goodness. You have... I'm giving him an idea now. A Superman one or something.

Ooh, a Superman one. Oh, look at Phil over there with the smoke. What is he doing? Wow.

We have a in-house... Live studio audience today. Yes, we do. Oh.

The Queen herself. The Queen is here. Miss Brittnette. In the house.

She's watching. Brittany is always watching. Always watching. Always watching.

Always watching. We had a productive meeting upstairs. We were talking about vacuums. Oh, for the...

Yeah. Yeah, you don't do good with the vacuum. Yeah. You've quit vacuuming, by the way.

We all heard that. I vacuumed twice this weekend. I bought a new brush. A new brush for the vacuum?

Yeah. He wants to try it out. You said to use a Twitter one. I like vacuuming.

I feel good about it. Do you? Yeah, I do. It's weird.

I like folding clothes. I like getting all the fucking dog hair out. You like to fold clothes? Yeah, I like to fold clothes.

That's like one of the things most people hate to do. Nope. You know what? Here's the thing.

Here's what you don't have. What? You don't have a four-year-old? No.

That constantly changes outfits three or four times a day. I have a wife that changes three times a day. Okay, but it's still big clothes. Yeah, yeah, that's true.

Yeah. I'm going to tell you right now, I put the clothes and the washer to the dryer. They were all teddies. And I was like, who the fuck is going to fold on this?

Oh, my God. This is not. I'll come over. The live audience, I guess.

The live studio audience. The live studio audience. They handled the folding. Surprise, she's not here.

Why is she folding now? Yeah, it's so crazy. Our washer broke. We haven't done laundry in four or five days.

There's a massive backup. Oh, you're still holding out on that? No, well, they were closed Sunday when we went to go get one. I got one this morning.

It'll be delivered tomorrow. - A part or a new one? - A new one. The part was more than the washroom.

- That sounds about right. - It was the whole motor. - Yeah. - Oh, wow.

- Yeah. The guy came and lifted it up and turned it by hand. It sounded like he had a bowl full of screws. It was just...

just grinding noises. - Sir, it's broken. " - Yeah. - Or the door is three-quarter shutter.

He's in there with actually a bowl full of screws. I don't know. - Yeah, maybe he just said that when he said to agree with you. " - It's JR from upstairs.

JR's appliances. He used to advertise on the... Chet and Palmer Show. Oh.

So I know him, so to speak. So you bought a washer from him? No, no, no, no. He doesn't sell them.

Oh. He's just the repairs. He just repairs and service. Very nice.

Right. Do you know if you have a bigger drum, it's the same size motor as a small drum? Really? Yep.

Fascinating stuff. It is. I can tell you that when our washer was down, it took less than 24 hours. I fucking had a new washer.

I didn't care what it was. I didn't care what it was. Well, you have a large amount of children and things at your house. We are not waiting.

Hey, listen, this one's going to be Samsung, because that's what they have in stock, and it's not going to match. And my supervisor... Ours doesn't match at all. My supervisor said, I don't give a fuck.

Just get it here. Yeah. Well, you can't wait. I mean, four or five day backup in a family of five.

Right, yeah. For us, it's not a huge deal, but for you... At that point, we're talking about... 17 outfits just from Teddy.

Yeah, we're talking about plague. I mean, things are just... Things are growing. Things are decilent.

Clothes are climbing out of the hamper. There's literally no clothes in the closet. It's not good. Right.

Everybody's naked at night. Wow. Yeah, there's nothing. Sharing one towel.

Wear the underwear. Anybody got a dry towel? We need a dry towel. That's like being in a hotel with no towels.

You have to use a washcloth to dry. Son of a bitch. Hand towels, washcloths, paper towels. So, how was your weekend?

Did you cut the grass? I did on Saturday, actually. I love cutting the grass. I love cutting the grass.

Fantastic. Well, I could tell you that... Yeah, we went to Swamp House. This is like your routine.

Yeah, we're not going to Swamp House anymore. The food and the service has gone downhill. It's really tanked. I found out from Old Man Bob who hangs out there every morning.

Yeah. They've changed owners. New owner, not good. Well, maybe...

Listen, there's usually a transitional period. It could be. It could be. I read a bad review last week from somebody online, and then while we were waiting for our food, I heard a group of nine, two separate...

There was a group of nine, but there were two separate tables. They were complaining on the service and the food. Look, acquiring a business is hard. Sure.

Sure. Sure. Sure. You know, we're just going to not go for a while.

And then we'll try back the time to work the kinks out or anything. It's not like we're just going to burn the place down, burn it down. I'm talking. Why is your camera on?

I don't know. I like that. It was on me. I was going back and forth and burn it down.

He's mixing it up. Oh, it's mixing a little mix up. Oh, well, you want some camera time? No, I'm fine.

I looked at two to, you know, to address the audience and it wasn't on. So now you're on. Now I'm on again. I have nothing to say.

So we did football, did football, Friday night football. Yeah. Yeah. Just as my one-two Patriots team.

Right. Oh my God, man. I almost lost my mind. Uh-oh.

It was rough. It was tough. It was rough. Yeah.

Did he get in a fight? I had to walk over. She had to walk over. You guys couldn't hear her at home, but she had to go over and break it down.

Did you ever see the manager approaching the mound? Yes. To talk to the pitcher? That's what was going on.

" I'm like, my quarterback was just throwing to the other team. Sorry, you threw your binder on the floor. I did, I was not. Oh, nice!

He threw his binder on the floor. Bobby Knightstyle. Hold on, hold on. Wait a second.

Hold the Yogi Berra on him. Oh, he wants to defend. Wait a second. Give the defendant a chance.

When you describe a throw, it was like a toss. I just kind of tossed in the air, like, fuck. It was like a... It was like a...

Not a... Yeah, it wasn't like a... It wasn't a huh, it was a hoo. And I'm like, why would you throw...

So the guy that's covered by three people. This is practice. No, this is a game. This is a game.

Well, did the play call for them to throw to that one person? I mean, they are children. Well, there's a primary, there's a primary receiver and then there's a secondary receiver. Ah, okay.

And if they're both covered, I would much rather just take the sack, you know, but then... Well, did the children know that? Yes. " Is that when you threw the binder?

Uh, no, well, my, I don't remember things. My, my, my supervisor, he mad at his own child. No, no, I was mad at my own child to start. Oh.

And then the other one, then I put the other one in that was fucking up and he fucked up. And I'm like, God, you know, give the watch kid a chance. I threw the ball to the watch kid. No, let him be quarterback.

Oh, that's, that's a bit excessive. He will take the sack though. No, the other, he'll just run. Oh, wait, stop.

No, no. Perfect. But we did try to throw him the ball. Oh, so, you know.

Was that the interception? No, you know, uh, no, you know what's funny is like, getting them, getting kids to click, they practice amazing. Right? For whatever reason on game day, they all shut down.

I'm like, what is going on? Well, you got people watching them. People watching, they don't want to get by the binder. Yeah.

I'd say cattle prod, I'm bringing a cattle prod. Did you drop the ball? No response. Yeah, yeah, that'll be good.

Do the thing where you wrap their hands in sticky tape. Yeah. Then all the kids are going to go over to the Bengals. The Bengals?

Whatever teams that are out there, I don't know who's out there. Super teams? Yeah. Super teams.

Mega teams. So, we had that. And Jack's quarterbacks for five, six, and they did great. Oh, good.

They did great. They made some mistakes. They made a couple mistakes, but they won. Oh, they still won, though.

They won by one point. That's all it takes. It was amazing. Only takes the one.

Winning is winning. I gotta, you know, kudos to the other coaches, because the offensive coach, you know, he'll let me try things, I'm like, let's do this, and we ran a play, interception, I'm like, I'm so sorry, dude. You sort of take over as coach on the other team, too. He's like, it's okay, I allowed it, I allowed it, you know, I'm like, okay, yeah, you know, he's, we work together on offense, so he's the head guy, though, for sure, right, Brittany?

So who took ownership of the interception? She's nodding, but with a smirk, I feel there's more story here. His says coach, the other guy says assistant coach. Well, one shirt says coach.

But he did try to get me to do coach on the back of his. Absolutely. I was like, why doesn't mine say coach? There's gotta be an assistant in front of that.

You say you're not the coach. Coach number two. I'd be coach number three. The vice coach.

Oh, yeah, vice coach. Helper coach. He doesn't like... No, he can't say that.

He doesn't like... Ball handler. Ball handler, there you go. Yeah, don't put that.

No, no, it's a children's sport league. Michael, don't put the ball in. What, I'm the ball in. Don't do that.

No, no, no. And then Teddy woke up with a stomach bug. Oh, oh. Oh, my God.

When did that happen? Friday night. Man. Dude.

Have you had it yet? No, I don't. You know what I honestly think? I think that it was, you know how I wasn't feeling well for that week?

Yeah. And I think Brittany wasn't feeling well either. Right. You totally did.

She did. She was fine. She's totally fine. Superwoman over here.

She had 20 loads of laundry. She was off for a few days, and then I think it got to Teddy. She's had her off. She doesn't take days off.

And it made Teddy vomit and all these other things, so she was throwing up like fucking crazy. Yeah, there was definitely, I know there was something going around the schools. Oh, dude, it was a long night. , like her eyes were open, her eyes were open, so I'm like keeping an eye.

I'm like, I'm going to have to stay up because as soon as she moves, I want to intercept. And I did that a couple times And then it was getting close to 5am And I'm like alright I think she's done Close my eyes, two minutes That bitch is in there And she's like I gotta poop So I put her on the toilet So she could throw up and not poop Quickly came up the other end So she threw up everywhere while sitting on the toilet I'm like you're lucky you're so god damn cute Yeah it's hard at that age man Because they don't really understand the feelings So they don't know what they gotta do You gotta be bucket ready man And she would do like this adorable, I'm like, are you thinking you're gonna throw up again? And instead of saying like, I don't know, she just shrugged. I don't know.

Oh God. Maybe, maybe. Alright, this is great. So I have no more information.

Should've had a bucket. We tried. We tried with the bucket. No.

It didn't matter. It didn't matter. Yeah, sometimes it doesn't matter. Dude.

It was impossible. The bucket's on the side of the bed. Yeah. It's like literally like one foot, 12 inches.

Oh no, you have to have, you have to hold it. Yeah, man, it doesn't matter either. You know, you can't just place and go, the bucket's right here if you need it now. She was holding at one point, she threw up on the, on the wall next to her bed, I'm like...

You're holding the bucket! Just hit the bucket! You're holding it! Jesus!

It looks gross, Daddy, I didn't want to talk. It smelled funny. So, Saturday, we kind of took it easy, and we thought that she was feeling a little better, so then we went out to eat with our friends. Right.

And, um, and then Sunday, same scenario, we just kind of kept it low key. Right. And we went to the mall. A mall?

The mall. Oh, all the mall. Yeah. That one's still open.

Let me tell you something. So the kids, they both had like $250. Wow. That they accumulated from communion and other things, birthday presents or whatever.

So we said, all right, look, $150 is going to go into your account and you can spend $100. Oh. Nice. Okay.

If you give $100 to an eight-year-old... Ice cream. I mean, that motherfucker, he bought two stuffed animals from Build-A-Bear. No, they were two different ones.

He built a bear, though. Yeah, well, one was a dog and one was like a velociraptor. That went to $100. Yeah, and he had to buy the shoes, and then he had to buy the skates, and he had to buy the leash, and it was a hundred bucks.

Well, dad, just so you know, it's all about the experience. Yeah, well, so, you know, he blew his wad pretty fucking fast. Meanwhile, the other one, you know, this is his money. He don't want to fucking spend it on anything.

" We went into every fucking shoe store. I'll buy a shoelace from this one. We went into every, I'm like, their shoes, they're the same at every store. Same shoes, every store.

They might be something different. But he's hoping. We looked at different Crocs, we looked at everything. And I was just like...

What'd he buy? He didn't fucking buy anything. I knew it. He didn't fucking buy anything.

That's the way Adrian's tanner is. " I'm not spending that money. This is ridiculous. Right.

And the week after, he's sitting you up to buy him something. I'm like, I know you're sitting on $100, at least. So this was Sunday, so I'm like, okay. So then we had to go to Target.

Right. For more shoes? No, well, they need shorts. The kids fucking need shorts.

So I'm like, alright, I'll tell you what, if you want shorts, we will buy the shorts from Target. If you want your fucking FaZe Rug or your YouTube guys shorts that are 50 bucks a pull, like what I'll do is I will offset the cost of whatever the Target purchase is. Call them 20 bucks, and then you'll spend the difference. Wait, there's some new type of thing out?

Yeah, the YouTubers, they all make cool shorts. Oh, do they really? Yeah. So, he's like, okay.

So, he goes and we looked at the shorts. He's like, hey, I'll just take the ones from Target. I'm like, you son of a bitch. Of course you would.

God forbid you'd spend your own fucking money. Oh, Target doesn't carry the fancy shorts? No. Oh.

You know, they're just standard whatever. It's not his money, why does he care? Yeah, he's like, oh, this is 20 bucks? Yeah, sure, you can spend that 20.

No problem. Right, not a problem at all. So then he's like, uh, but now I want to go look at the toy section. I'm like, oh, thank God.

So then we go look at the fucking toy section. And he doesn't buy anything. I'm like, okay. Is this Jack's?

Yeah. Do they even have toys for kids that age anymore? No, I don't, I don't know what the fuck he was thinking. You look at the sports section, you know, Mike, this is not how men buy things.

Oh, you have to have to talk with them. Yeah. This is not how this works. If you need underwear, you walk in, you pick up the underwear, you turn around, you walk right back out.

That's how that works. Yeah. You just grab the white ones and you're out. Yeah.

And you execute and it's over. Whatever's right there, you fucking grab it, get the fuck out, that's it. He just wanted to come home with something. Yeah, he just wanted to bring something home, but he couldn't pull the trigger.

He couldn't pull the trigger. Yeah. " Well, he becomes a bargain shopper when it comes to his money. " I'm gonna check Amazon when I get home.

Hey, Jack right there, he's got the phone with him. I'll look stuff up when we're at Target. I can have this here tomorrow, honey. I can have it at the house and just $20 plus.

Yeah. He'll be here tomorrow. It's the exact same thing. Do you need to leave with it today?

Right. How bad do you really want it? Right. I need it in three days.

So we got all this done. All right. And then we have to go eat. Right.

So we don't know where to eat. And Jack says, oh, let's go to the Korean place, the new place that's up the street. And I'm like, okay, that's cool. So you go to this place.

Have you ever been to a Korean hot pot or whatever the fuck it's called? Oh, my Lord. Yes, I have. So it's got a hot pot and then it's got a grill.

Right. And you can either do the hot pot or the grill or for five bucks more, you can do both. Okay. Okay.

Well, I don't know what we're doing, so we'll do both. Yeah, sure. Right. You've been to one, Palmer?

Yeah, in China. They've been in China. So the experience was cool, right? Teddy, that bitch didn't eat anything, right?

Yeah. Well, she probably saw the frog like this. She didn't even eat the watermelon. I mean, like nothing.

Right? And Jax is 11, so he gets charged the adult price. Oh, he just missed it. So, we get the bill, I'm like, holy fucking shit.

He didn't have a driver's license, bro, he should have just said he was 10. I'm like, yeah, no, if we go back, he will be 10. He's 10. Wait, what?

Why is he 11 last week? What happened? Yeah, no, no. In our culture, it goes backwards.

We made a mistake. Made a mistake, we didn't understand your accent, I'm sorry. He's gonna be 10 for the next five fucking years. Mikey shows a burst of his random pencil.

he's 10 so cut the bill oh kids are the worst right what are you talking about dad I'm not 10 I had that happen to me one time at Disney World with Sophia it's like it's 4 right to get him she's like no no I'm 4 I'm like no you're not this is not the age you're supposed to be talking yeah dude we did that forever with Teddy we'd smuggle her in and it was always It's always an argument. I'm like, listen, shut the fuck up when we're walking. Don't say anything. You're holding her.

I'm not too. So for a family of five, how much was the Korean restaurant? It was like $200. And you cooked your own food.

And I cooked the whole fucking thing. Exactly. That's what I hate about those places. We stopped going to what's the famous melting pot?

Thank you. Yeah, because last time we were walking out with $200, I'm like, I fucking cooked everything. This is ridiculous. That's just an expensive Luciana board.

Right, yeah, exactly. I mean, realistically, you could go to Melting Pot for just, like, dessert. Right. Yeah, yeah.

You know, I think that's what a lot of people do. Like, I was scouting people out looking. So, that's probably 50 bucks. Yeah.

But that's a nice little dessert thing or whatever. You could make it at home for $10. Experience Palmer. Yeah.

Well, but if you've been once, that's like an opening date. By the time you're married, you're like, no, we're not. I don't know. It's something to do.

I get it. You know what I mean? Go to my house. I'll charge you $75.

Bro, if I drop $50 for dessert, it's not a big deal. If I drop 200 for food, that I'll- Oh, look at you, he's so fancy over there. Yeah. Oh.

Uh-huh. That's right. Nice. Nothing but the best.

Nothing but the best for the lady folding the 75 loads of kids' laundry. That's right. I can't match these socks, they're too small. All right.

Okay, so, so I took it on the chin all Sunday, pretty much, right? Right. And we fucking go home. She's already laughing.

Yeah, we go home. Right. And there's a dumpster in our driveway. Who's moving?

She's moving out. No, so we're getting our roof done. So we're getting our roof done. And apparently, they're starting work on Monday.

Oh, they didn't tell you. They didn't fucking tell me. So my car is blocked inside the garage. So I text, I called, no answer.

Text, "Hey, no one informed me that we're starting. " Now, I understand how all of this shit works now, right? Because of our relationship, I get all of this now. I understand the fucking processes of life when it comes to construction.

" Does he have a truck? No. Well, I don't have a truck, and it's bolted. It's locked.

And the dumpster guy is subcontracted out. There's no roofing company. They call somebody. " We're starting early Monday morning, I need to drop this off Sunday.

Thanks for your patience, we'll work this out. " And I was very polite. Because he wants an answer. " Come 8:15, I'm cutting the bolts.

Come 9 o'clock, if I haven't heard from you guys, I'm moving this dumpster. With my hands. Yeah, I'm... Oh yeah, I was getting to that, why didn't you just...

I was just pushing shit down the driveway. I just want you to know, dude, there was a solid hour of me just being angry and I was fucking bolting that thing. I was just boom, boom, and like, because the mount went down on the ground, I moved it about 12 inches, I moved maybe a foot. But it felt good to just beat the hell out of this thing.

Yeah, you took in all the shit all week and long. Yeah, so I just beat the shit out of this dumpster. So, uh, A15 comes around, I cut the bolt. And I text someone and said, bolt's cut.

Now you have 45 minutes before I put it in the street, before I move it myself. Right. And, and now they know I'm not fucking around. Right.

Now they respond. Oh yeah. It's like, Hey, uh, well, so it's dead air. It's dead air.

And, and Greg, Greg, I say, Hey, this is where I'm at. This is what I'm doing. He's like, okay, let me come over and help you. I'm like, okay.

He's like, I, we can get a jack stand up. We can lift the pot front of it. And we probably just manually push it. Or I could just tow it with the fucking Hummer, whatever, we'll figure it out.

I would suggest towing it. I'm like, okay. I know you're strong. I'm like, okay.

I'm like, okay. Hey, listen, look, I now have assistance, which is, I'm very grateful for that. My neighbor has a truck, but he wasn't there at the time. And he got back to me later, he goes, yeah, I'll be home a little bit, we can do it.

I'm like, okay, cool. So at least I have my problem solved with two different people. Right. And I can get to my, I can get to my, get to my car.

He's going to pick the neighbor. Well, no, I'm actually, I actually went with Greg. Oh. Because Greg was in route.

Greg would be there first. So I get a call from the owner of the company. And he says, hey, I think it's the owner of the company. I don't know.

I can't confirm that, but I believe that it was him. And he says, hey, man, I heard we have a situation. And I said, yeah, dude. Not in about 15 minutes.

I said, I cut the bolt already because, you know, you guys haven't gotten back to me. And no one notified me that we were starting. Right. So I need to get my car out.

And I'm going to move this thing if you guys aren't coming to move it. And he goes, okay, uh, someone will be there in the morning. And I said, I gotta be honest, dude. That is a vague answer.

Right. The morning, the morning, the morning is not descriptive as to what time the person will be here. Right. And I am not going to be held by you guys not having access to my vehicle.

Right. So look, I'm moving this thing, and I will put it back, since you called, I will put it back, but you're out of a bolt. He goes, whatever, dude, okay, I'll take care of the bolt. I'm like, all right, so I'm moving it.

Right. This is happening. And he goes, okay, man, I'm really sorry. I'm like, you know what?

Why would they not want you to move it? Liability or something? I'm sure, yeah. Yeah.

You know, I'm like, all right, dude. Sunday evening, you can't get anybody out there. He's like, just let the guy fucking move it. Well, what they thought is, they thought the first time he texted, he was just going to leave it alone, and somebody would call him on that.

Right, but then when he cut the lock. Right, but now you're met with ultimatums, right? Like, okay, I know where you're at, now here's where I'm at. I'm cutting the bolt, right?

It's like, oh shit. They thought he was walking around, then he said, I cut the bolt. They're like, oh shit, not fucking around. The bolt's cut.

I'm going to blow this shit up next. I would have pulled it and left it in the street if they didn't respond to me. Your shit is blocking the road now. oh nice like that's that's the level that i was at like it's cool hey you know what if you don't want to communicate like i know that you're making money on this right right and this should this is a customer service thing right you didn't notify me and we're now at a point where you know that you fucked up i'm okay with all of that right mistakes happen mistakes were made right how are we fixing it like somebody's got to have a truck get the fuck out here and move this motherfucker so that I can get my car out, right?

But if you don't want to fucking engage with me, no problem, dude. My fucking energy is going to match your energy. We will have Naga fucking sake in front of my house. Don't worry about it.

Well, the guy that dropped it off, he's not allowed to drive after dark. Well, he doesn't give a fuck. He's done. He's done.

He's from the dumpster company. Yeah. He's like, fuck you. You ordered it.

I brought it where you said it. You told me to drop it off. I dropped it the fuck. And it's not his fault.

No, it's beer 30. Yeah, it's not the dumpster guy's fault. No. It's the roofing company's fault.

Right. So I'm like, okay, no fucking problem. So Greg pulls up. We fucking put the jack up on it.

He goes, I bet you we just push this in with the jack up. Fucking, we jack it up. We fucking heave ho, push it out of the way. Is that why he's up there going, oh, my arm's up?

Probably. Is he complaining about stuff? He's moaning and groaning. I just figured it was just Monday morning.

Yeah, no, that was it. He tried to help. That makes all makes sense. So I shoved this thing out of the way.

59, I got a text saying, hey, Someone will be there at 7:15 in the morning, I promise, blah, blah, blah, I'm like, car's already out. Yeah, we already moved this. Like, I told you that it had to be out. And then I sent a picture saying, ideally, I would like it here in front of my house and not in front of the garage door, because this is our main entrance to get in and out.

But if you don't want to move it. Did you send a picture of the front door, too? We can't get in this way. But if you don't move it, I understand, is exactly what I said.

But not in front, that door doesn't open. So nobody showed up at 7:00 in the morning. Well, you already moved it now. Yeah, but they could have still fixed it and put it in a better spot.

Oh. No. Yeah, no. I mean, they didn't fucking move it on Sunday.

No, fuck that. Cancel Bob for Monday morning. Right. Tell him not to worry about it.

Don't worry, he's already been moved. The guy's a psychopath. Like, yeah, no shit. I don't think his name's Bob.

It might be... It's Bob. Pedro. Yeah, yeah, it could be that.

Felipe. Don't Felipe. He doesn't have to go. Something in Spanish.

Oh, and I'm the racist. Yeah, he's definitely racist. He's definitely racist. Wow.

All right. So cars are out. Right. Problem solved.

I feel better now. Anger has been taken out on dumpster. Except your roof's gonna leak. No, no.

The roof people, the roof workers don't know what's going on. You don't think he's told him? No, not at all. Kevin, the owner of the company?

No. You know what? His name is Steven with a PH. Fellas.

Is it really? Yeah. It's not gonna leak anyway. It's a construction thing.

Listen, fellas, this guy, you know, he, uh, he kind of complained to me a little bit. So there's no cervezas after you guys are done each day. I was going to say, whatever you guys want to do on that roof, you do it. Hola amigos, understando, no good jobo.

So I go to job, all right, that's all you gotta do. Okay, so it's the next morning, I go to drop off the kids, it's garbage day. Uh-oh. Oh no, I don't know what's happening.

It's in the way of the garbage cans. The garbage guy picked it up and put it in the garbage truck. So the garbage cans are at the edge of the driveway, right? I go, I take the kids home, I come back, workers are there, they have moved the garbage cans onto the grass.

Well, because it was moved onto the grass... Oh, you got garbage men like that. The garbage men won't fucking take it. Really?

Yeah, it's like a principle thing for those guys, man. Yeah, they're fucking crazy. Yeah, because it's just a fucking... It's just a machine that picks it up?

It's the lifty thing, yeah. No, but they drive it to the edge of the dumpster, and then it picks up and dumps in. So, since it's on the grass, they won't touch it. Really?

They might have had an issue with somebody, like maybe they ruined somebody's grass sometime. Back into the circle, and then they all run around to the houses and bring them to the truck. Those guys are awesome. So, I looked at the roofing guy.

Of course, you might not get your garbage can back, but that's a whole nother problem. " And because you moved my garbage cans, they didn't take the trash out. Now use can sleeves. Now you have to take my garbage and throw it in your dumpster.

Oh. Okay. Yeah. Oh, no.

No. Mike spoke Spanish so that he became Russian. No, he fucking understood. He got it.

He said, "Okay, no problem. " Oh, he's the manager. See, jefe. No problem, look, the reality is, I think that, you know, those guys, like, I think that for a lot of them, their primary language is Spanish, but a lot of them speak English.

Yeah. And when they saw that... Oh, they all speak English, first of all. Yeah.

And when I saw, when they saw that... We gotta arrive there, we have a phone call. We're looking at DEFCON fucking 3 over here, they're like, okay, we'll take care of that. Did you throw the cut lock at them to get their attention?

No, I put the cut lock back on the dumpster, so it looked like it was locked. Oh. Yeah, I tried to do the right thing. What's that?

The timeline of what? So, she's talking about for the roof. Well, he was angry. Oh, only 30 minutes.

When you said the time, it sounded like you gave him all day. Well, they had 45 minutes to respond. Right. Oh, see, the way you told the story, I don't know if anybody else, I thought, like, you know...

We knew, Palmer. 10 o'clock in the morning, like, look, you have to late 15 to answer me back. No. Like, they had all day.

It was at night. Oh, everything. They dropped it off late at night. Ah.

They came back from dinner. So we showed up around 7:00. Well, I didn't know what time he showed up. We got home around 7:00.

What time we got home? Okay, we got home around 7:00. So at 7:30, I texted his motherfuckers, and they didn't give me a good response, I said, okay, you got 45 minutes to tell me what the fuck is going on, because if you don't want to respond to me, I'm going to cut the bolt. No response.

Bolt's cut. Oh shit, guy's serious. And then they had another 45 minutes to get a truck out there, so that's an hour and a half. And Bob didn't come out.

And Bob didn't give a fuck. would have showed up like he was sitting out front in a folding chair with his drink smoking star like he was ready oh you're waiting perfect oh he's drinking alcohol at this point well he was mad no i don't i don't drink no i'm not i'm not i know it's controlled anger he's not angry he's oh i was angry okay he's angry i was definitely angry that time and the guy's like i'm sure you're upset i go i am but i'm getting over it somebody needs to move this dumpster Somebody needs to come take care of us. If you're not going to do it, I'm doing it. I can't wait till there's like a roof, we're going to have next week's episode is going to be on roofing nails on the driveway.

Well, that's kind of a given. I know that's going to happen. You know what I mean? Like, I'm aware of all of that shit.

There's going to be nails in the yard. " Oh, well they're out there now just spreading them like they're birds. Look, here's what I fucking need. I need you to be direct and honest with me at all fucking time.

times right like open communication so that we can get this done right hey i need a check for 6500 bucks here's your check right like like just tell me what tell me what we're doing so that we can work together and complete the fucking task i'm not expecting i know that you're going to clean up the nails but you're not going to clean up all the nails right right there's going to be some residual i know that there's going to be shit right like there's going to be stuff that i'm going to have to deal with right so whatever right i'm not upset about that just tell me what What the fuck's going on? We don't think you're upset. I'm not. You're perfectly fine.

You're perfectly fine. Yeah. Call Scott. We're going to give Scott Pierce a call from PCO.

From CAA. Yeah, yeah. He's not with that other one. Until May 24th, I think, is actually when he switches over.

Oh, so it's not official official. Will he answer? Hey, Mike. How's it going?

Pretty good, Mr. Pierce. How are you, sir? On the mend.

On the mend now. Thank you very much. So you're feeling better. That's good.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel much better than I did last week, that's for sure. Wow. Okay, so you got the crew here, I'm Mike Palmer, obviously, and then there's Mike Stebankevich, and we got Filler Engineer over there working on the board. Hello.

Scott, how are you, sir? Doing good, thank you. Doing good, thanks. How are y'all doing?

Doing well, man. We're excited. We heard about the transition over to the CAA. That's kind of a big deal, man.

Yeah, yeah, it's a great opportunity. I'm really glad that I'm able to, you know, continue on and staying in the industry and taking on a little bit of a different perspective. You know, with PCA, it's very retailer-driven, right? Brick-and-mortar retailer-driven.

And with CAA, right, it's a lot more about the larger of the industry, the totality of the industry, with manufacturers and suppliers and distributors as well. So while those are all members of PCA, they're really kind of members because of the trade show and how it's going. All that functions, whereas the CAA, right, it's really sort of, you know, the larger aspect of the whole approach to the manufacturers and, you know, also, you know, obviously there's mass market machinery, that's part of it too, but really the totality of the industry being able to kind of build some great new advocacy platforms for that side and that perspective of the industry. So, yeah, I'm really excited.

Okay, so that was the great political answer. I really appreciate that response. Selegator, I was just reading it. But now, I have some questions, because I'm going to tell you right now, as far as the PCA is concerned, as a retailer over the past, how long have you been there?

Four years? Five years? Six. Six.

You've been there for six years. I have seen a lot of progress being made, right? Not only on the level- It's all because of Mr. Pierce.

I think that he, I honestly believe that you're an integral part of that, because I've seen you take shit from people on the floor, and you would handle things well, and you address things, and you fix them, right? Not only that, but I think that you've also done an He does an excellent job communicating with PCA, having them work with CAA, and there's another one, too, in order to get, like, laws passed and try and make these transitions and do what you can to kind of protect that industry. Is that true? That was my fault, sorry.

Oh, my goodness, sorry. How about you? Yeah, no, I, no, thank you. Go ahead, sorry.

No, sorry, thanks. I was just going to say, first of all, thank you very much. I really appreciate the kind words and the perspective. It's nice that when people can, you know, recognize, you know, the work that you do.

One of the things, though, that I've said, and this isn't political, it's the straight truth. One of the things I'm most proud of about PCA and the reason why, you know, again, people like yourselves have noticed some change and some progress is because I've been able to find and recruit and put in place a really very strong team. You know, and so from top to bottom, they're, you know, fantastic, right? And so, you know, with Josh Aversky and Glenn Lupe and the team there as far as the government affairs are concerned, look, those guys are still going to work with them very closely as they head over to CAA, obviously, we want to continue to grow that relationship because of the success we've had, particularly at state levels and working with PCA state associations and the CAA state lobbyists to continue to obviously battle against the tax increases, continue to fight and pass tax caps, and a myriad of other things that we want to continue to work on together there.

But with Lisa Cox and the trade show, you know, and all of the way that that's been evolving and changing, she's an integral part to that, you know, and all the new membership programs and the membership outreach with Lisa Sigler on the communications and everything with Antoine, we've got a really, really good, solid team in place that can continue to carry that forward there. And so, so, you know, I appreciate folks saying that about me, but I'm just, you know, a part of the team there that's been doing that work. Okay. I think Antoine's really cool, too, man.

He did a great job this last year as far as marketing, and for us, he was a lot of direct communication as far as when we had any issues. Right. Anytime we had a question, he was right on it, and he had an answer for us. Yeah, so...

Awesome. Yeah, Antoine's fantastic. Whether it was his job or not. So your name, so the actual board, what was your description of your title at the PCA?

Executive director. Yeah, they kind of used that and CO interchangeably between myself and the past couple, but I was the executive director of the association. Okay. And now at CAA, you're going to be what?

President. Okay. So the president has more money, I would assume? You get paid more for a president?

There's less words in the title. I don't know if that's how it works. I don't know. When it says president, it's like king.

Oh, wow. Yeah, more money, less words. Yeah, something like that. That's a major uptake.

You know, here's what, listen, this is entirely speculative. I'm like out of realm here on these things, but here's what it looked like to me. " Would any of that be accurate? I think somewhat.

I mean, I think that, you know, there are, you know, a lot of their organizations are kind of in the same sort of realm of how they operate and everything else. There's a couple of differences. And so, you know, the, my entire career pretty much has been within trade associations. And so I think that within CAA, it's a little bit more of a corporate structure.

You have people that really publicly traded companies and a very different sort of structure that exists there. So it's a larger sort of trade association in that capacity. And so when I was looking at the opportunity and kind of talking through it, there's a lot of, you know, opportunity there to go do a lot of really interesting things as it relates to kind of that side of the industry, both fast market, but also from a manufacturer's perspective. With PCA, it's obviously been very, very focused on retailer and those kind of aspects, and it's a little bit different, right?

So there's the trade show component that's part of PCA and some of these other components that are part of PCA. So really what I was kind of looking at it was just kind of a new opportunity to do maybe some similar things that I did at PCA in terms of let's implement some of these changes that we want to have for a trade association that's evolving with the times that's needed. Because anything you do as a trade association where advocacy is your main reason for being, all of that kind of drives it and it's all kind of scrutinized as part of what you do as an organization, right? Right?

I mean, you can see that just for example, the easy one there is the NRA. Well, the NRA is known for obviously a lot of things, but all the programs that they do, the gun safety programs, the shooting competitions, and everything else that they have as part of that, it all lends to their advocacy efforts. And so there's a large portion that is part of that too within CAA. So, I mean, ultimately really, you know, like you said, we made the decision that A, get to still be involved with the industry.

I really do love the industry a lot. I want to continue to see it flourish and protected. And the other part of it is, you know, a good decision for me and my family and an opportunity to grow another organization in similar ways, albeit very different, than with the PCA that we've already accomplished. So I don't know if that really kind of answered the thrust of it, but that's kind of the majority of kind of how everything kind of came to be in the decision process.

I think it absolutely did answer the question. I appreciate that. Do you and your family have to relocate? I'm sorry, I don't know where both places is headquartered.

C. is where both organizations are located. Oh, well, that worked out well. So, now, PCA coming up, the next big trade show is obviously in New Orleans, right?

Yeah. And there's obviously concerns about, you know, how retailers are like, oh, we're going to hang out together, there's no, like, all of these things, and, like, it's different, blah, blah, blah, blah. Are you going to have a little chuckle to yourself when things implode to some degree because you're not like smoothing these things over as things are progressing or, you know? No, well, maybe a little where it might be just, you know, some PTSD where I'll be like, how am I not getting this?

It's going to feel weird that I'm not getting the phone calls. Um, no, I actually, I think people are going to be really surprised, to be honest with you, because we've been working on this already for several years with New Orleans. And I think people are going to be really surprised that we're actually probably going to be able to have, I keep saying we, I'm still part of PCA for a few more weeks, but I think people will be surprised that the opportunity to be able to hang out and smoke together in cool places, particularly not very far from the hotel or the convention center in the warehouse district will actually most likely be greater than we've had in Las Vegas. Yes, yes.

Just because of a couple of things. Now, a couple of things. Number one, New Orleans really, really wants us. They like us.

We're a big show for them. So they kind of rolled out the red carpet for us to kind of, you know, recruit us back to New Orleans. And, you know, they took it upon themselves, the convention center, to go and lobby to get us the exemption to smoke in the trade, in the convention hall, until 2035. Wow.

And then they'll do it again. They got a 10-year exemption, so they're going to do it again, you know, because they want us there. And so because of that, they're going to do it again. And so because of that, they work with us a lot more.

With Las Vegas, we're a smaller show for them, and a lot of times, you know, we're kind of at their mercy, right? You know, we're at their mercy with all the labor union laws that kind of get put into place there. We really have no recourse with a lot of stuff that happens in Las Vegas. But Vegas is a great destination for shows, people love it, and it's a smoke-friendly city, obviously.

But the other aspect, too, is that the trade show is a very, very powerful tool in our advocacy toolbox, and so having the show there for a couple of years, demonstrating to the people, to the mayor and everything else, all the tax revenue they get from it, all of the other boost in revenue that comes from all of our guys eating and drinking like crazy, like our people do, it's a huge boost for them, and they like it, and it can be, you know what, this is not the same thing. We didn't want to ban this stuff, we wanted to ban the other stuff, right? And so there's more social clubs that are popping up right now in New Orleans, private clubs where you can smoke too, but also because they want us there, they've also given us insights into, I'm not saying that they'll ultimately decide to do this, this is something that we had talked about, but we might even, it's really inexpensive, but we might even, you know, close off an entire block outside right behind the hotels where we can have tables and lights and everything and people could go get drinks and come and sit down outside in this entire sort of old town square type of place where, It could just be us hanging out and having cigars. But we're also working with the sugar mill that's literally right across the street from the convention center.

I think it's like 2000 plus people venue, you know, food, drinks, maybe some entertainment, depending upon, you know, maybe some sponsorships that come in there. But being able to hang out and smoke and just have a good time there, you know, for after hours, you can go get some great New Orleans food and then come back and just hang out and you can walk across the street to your hotel. So it's really, there's really going to be a couple of places where people will be able to hang out all the time with each other and just have a good time and smoke cigars and get some good drinks. I love it, man.

Dude, thank you. We're not going to keep you any longer. I really appreciate you being totally open and honest with us and just kind of nailing everything, hitting nails right on the head with answering all the questions and thank you so much for coming on, dude. Do you have anything else to add, Palmer?

No, no, I appreciate you, because through his little medical debacle, let's just call it, he kept me in the loop with what was going on, and when he was available, so that was very nice of you too, Scott, thank you. Yeah, man, you're super thorough, dude. We're gonna miss you at PCA, I'm gonna tell you right now, if somebody has a complaint about you, they're fucking idiots, because, you know, I think you did a hell of a job, you know, that, that, PCA has needed that, what you provided for that short period of time, even though it was only six years, you know, and I'm gonna hate to see him go, dude. Didn't you single-handedly run it during the COVID stuff?

Weren't you down to just you? Oh yeah, we made jokes about you, Scott. Oh, you've called the show before today. This isn't the first time I've had you on.

Yeah. You were handling fax messages and all types of other things. Right, the UPS coming in. You know what's funny about that is that when we had to cancel the show in 2020, it was in the contract that I had to fax notifications.

And because like there was millions of dollars on the line, if we canceled it inappropriately, I literally had to sign up for like an e-fax account so that I could fax Mike Szczecin, The Venetian, The Notification, The Cancellation, and I was literally, I was scrubbing the internet to find any and all lawyers I could, because it was like, you have to have this person, this person. Well, I didn't have names, I just had titles, so I was, so it's funny anyway, so you mentioned faxing, so yeah, you know, for a time there it was me, and then Josh was shortly after, where basically he and I kind of kept the lights on there for just a few months until we could kind of get it back and start bringing people back after the summer was over, yeah. Amazing, dude. Well, Scott, thanks again.

Thanks so much for coming on. Guys, thank you very much. Taking the time. We appreciate it.

No, I appreciate you guys reaching out. It was very nice that you guys were the first media outlet to reach out to ask me to actually have a conversation about it. So, I really appreciate it. And, you know, I definitely won't be a stranger.

I'll see you around. And we'll actually get to hopefully attend the trade show and just enjoy it as opposed to, you know, having to run everything. Oh, that'd be great. All right, Scott.

Thank you. Thanks so much. Thanks, gentlemen. Take care.

Appreciate it. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Super nice guy.

He's a super nice guy. The only media source to reach out to Scott. Only one to reach out. It's the biggest fucking hit in the news for cigars.

And nobody thinks ass? Hey, you know what? Let's not call Scott and ask the questions. No, we're gonna call Eladio because he's got that new cigar coming.

Oh my God. You know, he wasn't easy to find. Nobody's got... I asked around to the other media guys.

Nobody's got his phone number. Nobody had his email address. Now you got the direct baby. Probably because nobody came up to him.

Now you got the direct baby. I guess nobody ever asked. I don't know. So I said Antoine's, and because of how his format was, I just put Scott Pearson beforehand, like, let's see if this goes anywhere.

Detective Palmer was all over it. And then he gave me the phone number, like, here, take the number. So now it's programing the phone. Got it.

Now we're gonna call CAA all the time. Got it. Well, hey, you know what, there's gonna be other media drops. There's gonna be other things.

He's the president of the CAA. Right! How's that, Coop? Boom.

Get careful, he's already mad at us. I was gonna send you messages on Facebook. He's already mad at us, because he did not stay in Deberry, apparently, so we will retract that. He was very upset.

He just ate dinner in Deberry. I said we don't fact check these things. I told him we make shit up. Yeah, all the time.

Oh, he didn't stay, oh, for the birthday. Yeah, he was very upset. Yeah, yeah, he just was in Deberry for dinner. But he didn't, but here...

Oh, wait, first, who goes to Deberry for dinner if you're not staying in Deberry? But, you know what, here's... I can't wait to go to O'Leary's. Here's an actual fact, though.

We did call that motherfucker. Yes. And he did not answer. You want to call him now?

No. We just got off the phone with Scott Pearce. No, no, no. Nobody else is trying to call him.

I want him to see this later. First of all, I want to know what restaurant he went to in DeBerry. Right. Who knows?

They're not known for their fine cuisine there. That's the real question. Donald's. They don't have one.

They got a Dairy Queen. They got a Dairy Queen. I thought there was a new Blizzard that I was excited about. Oh.

Maybe check that out. Maybe, maybe that's where he went. Yeah. You know, you turn it upside down.

It's good. Doesn't come out at all. Yeah. Well, Coop.

Hey, listen, Coop. We love you, buddy. All right, so... Yes, you're the number one show right now.

Yeah, you're number one. I didn't even say thank you when I tagged him on that. If you're doing an interview, I'm gonna give you a big hug. I don't care if it's the time or place, we're hugging.

Yes, just in the middle of everything. That's inappropriate, Michael. Don't do that. It's completely inappropriate.

He doesn't like that. He's a very serious man. Very serious media person. Now you've got like 20 dirty messages.

I'm going on jukebox soon, too. I gotta set the date. Oh, are you? Yeah.

This Saturday, I did Cigar Boys last week, I'll be on Cigar Guys or whatever the fuck it's called, I don't even know, I'm sorry guys. Cigar Boys. Cigar Guys. Cigar Guys.

Cigar Guys. Cigar Guys. I think it's Cigar Guys. Cigar Dudes.

Cigar Guys. I only know Alex's name, so I gave, you know me, I just gave everybody nicknames, I don't know anybody. Yeah. Right.

Dude, I want to start ripping apart some of his clips, I just need approval from him, because he's like, he did this whole thing like, this is a barber pole, and how you do a barber pole. Oh, their videos? I'm like, oh my god. He's coming to my other show to explain TikTok to me because they get thousands of views on those videos.

Yeah. Yeah, they do a good job. I don't know how. Look, as much as I like to break their balls, I mean, they're working hard, you know, so I like to acknowledge that, but I'm still gonna break your balls because that's who I am.

What is Jukebox? Cigar Jukebox? Yeah. Out of Australia?

Yeah. Dave Burke? Dave Burke. I thought maybe this was the saxophone playing a coupe.

Oh, this is the saxophone playing a coupe. This is a music show that Coop does. Yeah, he used to pair the music to the cigar and then you could hear the music, but now you can't do that anymore because the YouTube code copyrights aren't in trouble. So now it's just called cigar.

Like we're about to, so we're gonna change things too. So now he talks about the pairings and stuff. Oh, they don't play any music. Yeah, they review albums and stuff like that.

But they don't play any? No. I thought they found some... I mean, even, it used to be if it was less than, what was it, 30 seconds, you could get away with it?

That don't work anymore either. Dave was one of the first guys that was super nice to me and had me get on podcasts with him and talk and stuff like that, and I will always have, you know, an affinity for that guy. I mean, he's just an amazing dude. " He's got a very distinctive voice, too.

Yeah. Nobody else sounds like Dave Burt. It's true. Coop's not gonna get mad that the number one cigar podcast is coming on that show?

No. We're the number two show right now. Yeah, we're number two. Oh.

As of yesterday, Coop's number one. But I like how it said 30 minute shows. That was fine. Yeah.

At first, I didn't understand people's comments, and then I went and read it. Apparently, Feedspot also doesn't fact check. Apparently, you're right, yeah. So there's that.

All right, well, hey, let's get on to some news. Let's do Phil's Fun Facts. Ooh, yeah. Because they submitted late, and I told them I would make sure I got it in.

He so badly wants me to read this one. I do. Well, no, I mean, they wrote it. They write them now.

They just went to a lot of trouble to get it in in time. How's our live audience doing? Are you dead? See, the phone call part's rough for the home.

Yeah, she can't hear it. Yeah, she can't hear it. She's like, what's going on? He's done.

Oh, yeah. Oh, she bought some things. You were buying some things? Some more tiny clothes.

More tiny clothes? More tiny clothes for Teddy. We're not washing anymore. We're just throwing the fuck away and getting new clothes.

That's fine. I'm ready. That's the wrong one. That's it.

Welcome to Cigar Hustlers podcast feature, Phil's Fun Facts. See, his music intro's going right now, you can't hear it, but that's why we're all listening. Hello, peoples. Oh, can you?

Okay. All right. In Connecticut, Shade Tobacco is produced using tents... He pre-readed, that's what I know.

where they literally hang tents over hundreds of acres of tobacco plants. They use a pale, white fabric to reduce the amount of sunlight the plant... My beard's coming down. Put it on your nose.

The plants get creating a softer, smoother wrapper leaf. Funny pale white fabric is what I like to use for my bathing suit so that when it gets wet, the fellas at the beach see my business. Nice, dude. I had to add the joke.

You're a big beach goer these days. Big beach guy. Yeah. Big beach guy.

Oh, there's something I have to read now too, isn't it? Yes. Sorry, I got all distracted. Yeah, he was all in his funny over there.

Oh, I'm not funny over here. Filth Funds Fact, brought to you by Cigar Hustlers Podcast Patreon, and brought to you by Bray's Ranch in Waldo, Florida. Follow them at Bray's, at Bray's Ranch on Instagram, on Facebook, for regular ranch updates and news on beef availability. Beef availability.

I need a freezer chest for beef by half a cow. Put in your cold plunge. Well, I'll just have to wait like a couple of months after the next book. What book?

There's no book. Can't you just put it sort of at the end? No. It's water.

It's cold water. I can't throw it in there. We're not. Ridiculous.

Ridiculous. Isn't that like how a suve works? Right, like a cold suve. Yeah, of course.

Cold people suve. Cold people suve. Extra spice. I need to put myself in a bag, is what you're saying.

Put the beef in the bag, so that way the blood juices don't get into it. Yeah, they seal it in a bag. Okay. Fred Rue used to always put up pictures and videos when he was surveying.

Yeah. Oh, that's right. You guys had one too. We tried that.

That shit was ridiculous. Right. Well, everybody was doing it there for a while. Well, you, Skip, and Fred Rue were doing it.

That's about it. I don't understand it other than... It doesn't make sense. You're boiling meat.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Yeah, I mean, it makes sense for like a restaurant to do it. Why does it make sense for a restaurant to do it? Because it cooks, like you just have to hit it real quick on a grill or something afterwards, right?

They come afterwards, right? Oh, so you precook it to a certain level? Yeah. Oh.

It's the same thing. It doesn't make sense for three steaks for four minutes. Do you have to throw it on a grill afterwards? Yeah.

So you're cooking it twice? Yeah, you gotta sear it. Yeah. So you can take it to the hotpot place with you.

Brittany's getting all cross-eyed over there. Fucking get angry. Let's hear the real news about the sous-vay. I cooked it really hard.

I did all of it. Once. Once. And then Brittany cooked it.

Ah, then she had to do it. You know, I cooked you a beautiful steak dinner this week. Something like the vacuuming. Last week.

I cooked you a beautiful steak dinner. Uh, 53. Oh. We don't have to do it.

Well, okay, you more wonder. I want some news, man. We are the fucking media, we are the only media source that asks the real questions. We're the only media source that called Scott Pierce, apparently.

Scott, did you get more money? Yes. So why did you leave? Yes.

Because they gave me more money. Perfect. Thank you, Scott. And I didn't have to move and my business cards are a lot smaller.

Yeah, it's a lot easier. It's, you know what it is? Here it is. It's less bullshit for me and it's more fucking money.

He's in charge now. He's at the top. Mike Moyes has more people to do the work. Right.

I got tired of the bullshit at PCA. Right. That's not what he said. You should have asked him, how long until somebody else from PCA follows you over?

Should have asked that question. I don't. That was a good question. I think he'd be like, no, I'm sorry.

Can I take it to anybody? Yeah. I'm sorry to win. Yeah, no, we're not hiring.

Yeah, we're at capacity. Oh, Mr. Haberski, you stood there with the fax machine I had to buy. Yeah, no.

Yeah. There's an e-fax login that you need. Yeah, if you want it. All right, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, a major player in the cigar industry, recent release, it's Q1 2024, financial results.

Can't wait. They do a lot of meetings, so there's got to be on point. Halfway was so on top of this shit, it's incredible. This is our own new story.

I'm sorry. See, it's much shorter. Oh, okay. There's a super long.

Bombers is to the point. That's right. We showed a decline compared to the same period last year. Despite experiencing growth in net sales of handmade cigars and next generation oral tobacco-free nicotine pouches, These gains were counterbalanced by decrease in sales of machine-made cigars and smoking tobacco.

The mixed performance highlighted the evolving landscape of the tobacco market with shifting consumers' preferences soaring alternative products. STG's ability to navigate these changes will be crucial as it seeks to maintain its position in the industry. All I can tell you is that Justin Andrews, that motherfucker's driving a Raptor Hennessy edition, so they're doing fine. Raptor Hennessy?

Yeah. It comes with alcohol? No. Not that Hennessy?

Hennessy is like this super high performance race car shit. Like you could take, they will, you buy a car and you take it to them and they make the Hennessy edition. Oh, gotcha. Like the Roush Mustang thing.

A lot better than. It's bigger than, better than the Roush shit. Well, yeah, just I'm trying to compare it, Michael. Yeah, you can't compare it.

People that don't have a lot of money, like me and whoever else listens here. Yeah, well, I don't have Hennessy money. You're boiling steak and cooking it twice at your house. That was years ago, Brittany.

Brittany? Well, she starts laughing. I'll start looking at her. I'm usually getting yelled at.

You have hot boxes, cold boxes, you have loads of things at your house. We don't even have any boxes at my house. Yeah, well, you have red lights. I have, well, yeah, but you bought it though.

Yeah, you're right. My rich friend bought it. Yeah, I take care of my people. My rich friend.

Fuck you. Throwing away clothes, just buying new ones now, 'cause he went in trouble to fold them. Wow. RoboCraft are back.

The renowned cigar manufacturers gearing up to launch its next core line. Another name that we can't say. How do you say that one? Mastranza?

Mastranza? Mastranza? Yeah. Mastranza.

See, you don't know how to say anything. Mastranza. Can you just call something with an English name one time? Wow.

It's a Spanish name. I don't think it's a core line. I'll never spell this right. Who said it was a core line?

Do you say it was a core line? The half-wheel said it was a core line. It's not being amazing. I don't think it's a core line.

Co-founder, Skip Martin, has started generating excitement for the upcoming release on social media platforms. He has. Mastranza will be a regular production line featuring... Mastraccioli.

Okay, whatever. Mastraccioli. My. My.

Strong. No, it's gotta be Mae, M-A-E. My. My.

Strand. Z. Z. Mystranzy.

Mystranzy. Thank you. So, this is a craft. Like, it's a craft marquette.

I don't know. I don't know. Which is his limited. Yeah.

The rich featuring a Mexican San Andreas wrapper, specifically described by Martin as Spanish market selection. This rich wrapper will be complemented by a Brazilian binder with fillers sourced from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Yep. The blend promises to offer aficionados a unique...

Turn the page. Paper stuck together. Oh, God. Unique, flavorful experience showcasing Roma Crafted Max's commitment Welcome to Quality Innovations.

Do you know who Dan Gallagher is? It sounds familiar. Is that a video game? Oh, no, never mind.

There's not a break in the story. It runs together. In a recent move, Dan Gallagher has been appointed as new president of the cigarette. Wait, can we talk about this?

Can we talk about fucking rolling? Sure, we can. We talk about what we're doing. So I think that it's going to be like store exclusives for specific shops or something like that.

Is it? Yeah. Oh. Yeah.

I think Half Wheel said it's going to be part of the court line. I don't think that's the case. I saw something on Facebook. Are we allowed to talk about that?

Are you a member of a secret Facebook? But the reality is that like something that came out in the Knights of the Ashes or something? Some things you say are not accurate because you get a little woohoo on you. I saw like an argument about the name.

Okay. All right. Yeah, there was an issue. I guess somebody has it trademarked overseas.

Okay. Well, that's not the United States. I understand that. I'm just, I'm trying to figure this out.

I'm trying to figure this out. No, it depends on the country. He might not be able to ship it out with the name on it. He's not shipping it out anyways.

Where's he shipping it from? S. S. Yeah, that's what he said.

Yeah, big shocker. In China, if somebody went and copyrighted a Cigar Hustler in China, you could not ship anything out of the country that said Cigar Hustler without paying them. Gotcha. So I don't know if Nicaragua is the same way.

Like, if somebody in Nicaragua went and, you know, Well, I own it now. Yeah, no. Well, no, but I have always them. Right.

Good luck with that. You know, though, here's the funny part is, man, I got to tell you, I don't know if it's just because I'm close with the guy and we're friends and I see all this shit, that guy catches so much shit from everybody. It's fucking ridiculous. I mean, my fucking God, give the guy a break.

You know, somebody went looked, somebody Googled it to see if somebody owned it. " It's like, dude. Mike Malillo owns that name not too. No, Nick doesn't own anything.

He's just hanging out. Well, he doesn't check, obviously. I asked him to send me Connecticut seeds, like, fucking three weeks ago. Oh.

Oh, yeah, let me get it back. I'm like, dude, fucking just send them. Ask somebody else. I'm going to.

Who else do you know? I don't know, but you would think... Wait, are you going to grow your own here? You got to send them over there.

I want to play with things, yeah. I think that it would be fun. Here's what's ridiculous to me. It's just, it takes two fucking seconds.

Right. Well, maybe he doesn't have them in his drawer in his desk. Bullshit. He's got them all over his fucking fields.

He's a cigar guy. You know how small the seeds are? He's a cigar guy. Yes, I do because I grew some in my house.

He sits in a bunker in fucking Connecticut surrounded by fucking crocodiles and fucking Connecticut fucking crocodiles. He's got lots of crocodiles. Alligators. Yeah, he had Prince fucking Ababois from fucking Highclere Castle send him some fucking crocodiles.

Really? No. Oh, he's been knighted. Yeah, he's fucking Sir Nicholas of Ethiopia.

Yeah, Sir Motherfucker. Of Ethiopia? Yeah. They don't have seeds.

Is this a real thing? Yeah, that is a real thing. They don't have seeds there. This isn't like the thing where you buy the little piece of land off of Amazon.

That's Scotland. No, I want that so bad. I actually had a Christmas last year and my wife couldn't put it together. You wanted a piece of Scotland?

I wanted to be, yeah. No, no, you get a royal title. Yeah, you get it, yeah. You become like lord of something.

Oh, really? Yeah. " Hey! Hey!

We saw you at the meeting, but you weren't there, we don't know what happened. You're a sir, we're sirs. You're a knight, we're lords, you kind of work for us. It's all fine.

Yeah. 'Cause he's a knight. Yeah, send me the fucking seeds, knight. Yeah, when shits go down, you go out, we stay here.

I'm giving you a quest. Yeah, yeah. Go find me the seeds. Oh, my God.

Fuck you, well, maileth them to me. That's so ridiculous. Job, job, let's go, boy. Come on.

Oh, wow. We still didn't talk about Roma Craft, you didn't talk about Roma Craft. We did talk about Roma Craft. Oh, wait, what did we do, what we said was Skip is your good friend and everybody picks on him.

No, we talked about it, it was probably going to be a store exclusives as well. Oh, oh, oh, okay. And it's really fucking good. Oh, you had one?

So have you. What did I have? You had one at PCA, and so was he. Ah.

Wait, I only had one cigar from Skip. Yeah, but. It was a box press. Yeah.

You smoked it. Is that what he gave us at Fuego? No, we were at the, I think we were at the, It was a Mexican restaurant. Wait, I don't think we got a cigar at the Mexican restaurant.

Oh. Well, you got it. No, he passed out cigars one night when I wasn't there, that night I went up early. Oh.

So I might not have got one. Oh, it was really good. I'm sure it was. I smoked a bunch of them.

I thought you got one. No, I got the other thing he was passing out in Fuego. Let me check my bag from the trip. I mean, I'll smoke it, obviously.

All right, fuck you then, you don't have it. I said I'll smoke it. No, it's okay. But I don't want you to go to any trouble.

It's not a big deal. Mike, you go to Torchy Tacos, he's going to hand out the cigars again. Torchy Tacos? You're done.

Now I'm not giving it to you. That's it. Thank you, dear. Aww.

To hell you will. Whose side are you on, Brittany? She loves me. You better fucking check your loyalty.

Yeah, he's a lord or a knight. We're all lords, sir. We're all lords. Fuck.

Alright, what'd Dan Gallagher do? By the way, Mickey Pegg has been ghosting everybody. Yes, so has he not called you back since then? He is now back on Facebook and making comments, and I'm getting LOLs because I am just flooding everything he posts with comments.

I see him, he's logged in, you know, like when you check your messaging, you see who's logged in? Right. Oh, he's here. Dan Gallagher is smoker-friendly.

Okay. His brother's now president of Smoker-friendly. Oh, cool. Yeah, so I'm terribly excited.

Woo-hoo. So, getting back to Mickey Pegg here. Yes. Like, what the fuck are we doing?

Call him. Just see the answers now. He's not got a fucking answer. Oh, wait.

I will call him. Let me call him. My phone's connected. Go ahead.

Yeah, somebody other than Mike, you first call him. Go ahead. Do we have headphones for Brittany? Do you know if I could be part of this?

No. No. Well, kind of. Throw a pair of those to him.

No, I'm fine. She says she's fine. Call Mickey Peck. Are you calling him?

How do you not? No, I have his phone number. I just don't understand how you don't fucking respond through all of this shit. We don't want them to know you're here.

Okay, okay, shh, he's not gonna answer. No, he's still not gonna answer. Is that Mikey or I'm hanging on? Your call has been forwarded to voicemail.

Three rings, forwarded me. The person you're trying to reach is not available. At the tone, please record your message. Leave it on.

When you have finished recording, you may hang up. He's gonna leave a message. Hey, Mikey, my car's broke down. I think I'm near where you live.

You can call me back. Help us. This motherfucker. Wait, did you hang out?

Yeah, hang out. I don't understand. This motherfucker. This whole thing, this entire fucking McAuliffe explosion of bullshit.

Right. And you're not going to say anything? Like, what the fuck are we talking about here? This is your moment.

Yeah, man. This is your moment. We got a platform where you can speak. Yeah.

Speak your truth. Scott Pierce did. Yeah, Scott Pierce flat out told us. He was thrilled.

He dropped it. He's like, yeah, thanks so much for calling, man. We appreciate you. Yeah, cause we're paying attention to what's going on in the fucking industry.

I'm getting more money and a better title. Yeah. Unlike us, who aren't getting any money, but we're still doing this. Yes.

So if you could join the fucking Patreon, that would be great. Yes. We need new cameras again. Maybe if they join the Patreon, Mickey will call in on the Patreon.

Speaking of Patreon, what are we going to be reviewing for the Patreon? Mikey wants me to sit on very feminine royal chairs or something. Did you see it? They were lovely.

They look like high heels. They did look like high heels. Yeah, perfect. And one was pink and one was purple.

Oh, you're talking about the King Thrones. Yeah, those are cool. Those are children's king thrones. Were they?

Yes. Oh, Craig has a king throne. We just take that. Oh, the one in his house?

We need two of them. Yeah, that's like a death throne or something. He might have two. That's possible.

I could see Greg having two. You know, at this point now, I don't want anything out of Greg's house. That's fair. Why?

He's got a live-in woman. They had a coffin for a while, so, you know, you think they haven't played "All Hail the King" in that chair? Yeah. I am king.

That's right, I am king. King of the castle. King of the castle. Do things.

Do things, woman. Pay attention to the scepter. Pay attention to my scepter. So, what are we reviewing for the Patreon?

These. These. Ferriotego Sumas. Sumas.

Isn't there another name on top of the suma? From my good friend. Sumas Torpedo. My good friend, Michael Herklotz.

He has friended me on Facebook. We are now more friends than him and Matt Booth. It's confirmed. Matt Booth hates that.

Yeah. He laughed. It was an uncomfortable laugh. I think they're pretty.

They're uncomfortable, I think they are too. He immediately called them after you hung up. " You're friends now with the Stefan Kevich guy? That wouldn't be, they rushed me off the phone, I just want you to know, if they become more friends than fucking us, we got a fucking problem.

They hung up on me when I was talking? He wouldn't let them tell my poop joke. I just want you to know, I'm going to load a shotgun with jewelry and shoot it at you. Oh, that'd be pretty cool.

Skulls, lots of skulls. That would hurt. Those are solid rings. Matt Booth, Jesus ring.

Oh, nice. She's a skull. Yeah, the hot dog is probably doing hot dog jewelry, you know? Oh, hey, the weekend that Justice took his first communion?

Yeah. We had communion at my church the same weekend. Yeah. Is that like the time you're supposed to do it?

It's a thing, yeah, it's a thing. Bummer. Makes sense. I didn't know they only do it one day a year.

Yeah. No, they don't do it one day a year? No, Catholics do it all the time. You have communion.

Like the official letting in of the communion to the kids? Yeah, but it's the same day. No, no, but like they gave it to everybody who went. Yeah.

Oh. You know what's cool? It was in, you know, the little creamer containers? Yeah.

It was a creamer container, and on top of it was the cracker, and you peeled that off and ate the cracker, and then you opened the second one and you drank the... Oh, it's a COVID edition. Oh, it's like COVID friendly. Yeah.

It's like plastic Jesus. Right. Fantastic. Somebody doesn't wash your hands, man.

I called it juice and cookies. Juice and cookies. Yeah, there's no juice and cookies this week. What happened?

Where's my juice and cookie? There's a snack. Oh, you don't get it every week? That's what I mean.

They don't do it every week. They happen, though, did it the same weekend that Justice did. Oh. 7 grams.

7 for a Torpedo. Feels pretty good. Well, I guess when you're pre-packaging your Jeez-Its, it gets pretty expensive, so maybe they don't do it every week. Very, very small.

Very teeny tiny. Not regular, you know, the bigger, not like a Ritz Cracker, more like a... Or processed. Yeah.

It's like a baby aspirin. No, it's bigger than that. M&M. Cheez-it.

But they didn't tell you when you get there, they just have this thing like, you know, they're handing them to you as you go in and you're looking at it, shaking and going, what are we doing with this? A little bit of wine? Why can't somebody figure out just giving an M&M instead? You know, what's funny is...

Because candy is not the bread or blood of Christ. You know... Tastes good, though. Did I tell you that Justice drank the wine?

No! Oh, dude, that was the fucking craziest thing. Ours was grape juice. No, they won't let you do it in Catholic.

It's gotta be legit. Oh, yeah, it's gotta be... Yeah, it's gotta be a real deal. So Brittany and I are having this whole debate, like, are you gonna drink the wine?

Like, I'm not fucking drinking the wine. Like, we're not doing this. Everybody else is touching this wine. This is disgusting.

Oh, that's right. Oh, yeah, yeah. Germ. Yeah.

Oh, yeah. You didn't answer me first? No, so. I have to go first.

So I'm like, wait, I have germ issues. So I'm like, wait a second. So I'm like, wait a second. Like, does Justice have to drink the wine?

And they're like, yeah, well, Justice's gonna drink the wine. Fuck. So as we're going up. Yeah, they take that little napkin, just wipe it.

Yeah, dude, well, Justice drank the wine. So I drank the wine. Oh. I couldn't.

Whoa. I couldn't. Just in case. Can't go alone.

No, it's like, here's what it boils down to. Maybe this is why I get so angry on Sunday. No, this is the following week. Oh.

I still hopped up on the one. Yeah, probably. So, I just, I can't ask him to do something, and then me not do it. Well, I fucking did it.

Does he know you have germ issues? Does he know? It doesn't matter. Does he know?

Well, yeah, but he might, I mean, he might not have known you were supposed to. Either way. Either way, I don't care if he knows or he doesn't know. What would you have to do when they give you a cup and be like, "No, I'm good"?

Oh my god. You can't tell me. Oh, you made her look bad for the kid. This was like a spur of the moment thing for me.

What was he going to tap me? " He's right! " She goes to leave, you grab her arm and we go, "Don't leave, we're drinking the wine. " You drank the wine.

I'm sorry. No, I look like it is. She drinks wine all the time. She wouldn't have cared.

- Yeah, you know, you got the blood of Jesus flowing through you at this point. Come on. - I am Jesus. - You practically are Jesus.

- Practically are. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Are you making those prepackaged deals?

Is that you? - Yeah. - She does. - Yeah.

- She's just one more job for Brittany. - Right. - Hey, if you could just go ahead and build all this for us, that'd be good. - Oh, right, because she's so involved with the church.

- Yeah, right. - She's not really involved with the church, she's involved with the school. - Oh. - I don't know what to do with the church.

- Oh, well, they have those other women that do that, that wear the hats. - But we missed the rehearsal, but we, We did pretty good. You missed the communion rehearsal? Yeah, we had football.

Oh, yeah, but you've seen it before. Yeah, we've lived it. You didn't know what it was. Yeah, the other kid's already done it.

Yeah, fucking fun. Rehearsal, what are you rehearsing? You gotta, like, when you get up. That's just more times you'd have to drink the wine.

I feel like that you get up every 10 seconds. A Catholic church? Are we talking about a Catholic church? No, but we're talking about like the kid, when the kid gets his first communion, like how that whole works.

Oh. We did fine. We just had a friend whose mother passed and they were Catholic, but we opted out of the Catholic, service we went to the funeral and the viewing yeah but i've done out of the service and i was explaining to adrian she goes how do you know you're not catholic i've been before i mean yeah you find the old lady in the front and you watch her she gets up you get up she gets underneath you get on like i've been to she was everybody doesn't have to do it i go yeah you do i've been to bop mitts of his bottom rest i know i gotta wear the lid you know what i mean like the shit i've been to a jewish funeral yeah if you don't do it you look like a jerk right everybody's watching you yeah well wait including god but realistically you shouldn't take communion if What if you're not Catholic? I've never done Catholic Communion.

Right. Lutheran Church, I've done it there. That's fine. Yeah.

They're all about distribution. Right. I don't think you're allowed to take communion. You're not supposed to.

You can't take Catholic, unless you're Catholic. Or a liar. I have had the cracker before, because at the time, my first wife snuck it back. She didn't put it in her mouth.

Oh. Because I was asking questions. So she went to put it in her palm, and then brought it back to me. Wow.

Yeah. You're in trouble. Yeah. Yeah, it does.

It's very dry. You're going to hell. That was it. That's the reason when I get there.

That was the one. So I see the G's at... I see you eat the G's at unofficially. You know, we can't let you know.

You know, all these other issues don't really, you know... From the guy who was on my show, that would be the least thing I've done for not getting in. I don't know. I disagree with some of the things the guy said.

I'm like, look, the guy died for my sins. I should be okay. I'm sorry. Well, it depends on the...

Lutherans, that's the way they figure. You have to confess your sins because that's what Jesus did. Yeah, he did that. Yeah, he paid the check, so now anybody eats.

Catholic, you know, I cover it via payment. Right. Yeah. Basically.

Like, very sorry. Right. Yeah. Very sorry.

And you have to go tell the priest what you did wrong. I'm not telling them anything. I'm not telling them anything. You don't go to confession?

Nah. Do you make the kids go to confession? Nah. We're part-time.
