Episode 60 Knives, Back in the DM, Deland Bike Week and Podcast

Episode Summary
Episode 60 is a classic loose, conversational "Mike and Mike" catch-up recorded at the Cigar Hustler shop. The hosts open by recapping the previous week's popular Michael Knight interview (which spiked downloads 35%), correct their mispronunciation of Wim Hof's name, and dig into Mike's ongoing cold plunge habit at the gym — now up to three minutes, plus a dared 10-second head dunk. Along the way there's the usual banter about diets that never last, family stories, kids discovering Bob Ross on YouTube, and the Momo hoax.
The centerpiece is "it's going down in the DM": a listener named Matt Wheeler (@whlratx) messaged the show claiming a shared Eastern European surname heritage and asked what it would take to get his hands on a Vojtek. The hosts read the message on air, laugh about the flood of requests it will inspire, and confirm Matt is getting a pre-release Vojtek plus stickers and a magnet — proving "a closed mouth don't get fed." They also compare notes on the podcasts they actually listen to, including Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You (and its Macaulay Culkin episode), and Dax Shepard's shows, while admitting most cigar podcasts don't do much for them. One host is smoking a Highclere Castle throughout.
Retail and event news follows: Black Hog Knives brought in a stunning Damascus-blade knife (jokingly dubbed "Valyrian steel," prompting a Game of Thrones tangent) that will be raffled off at an in-store cigar event on March 29th — three cigars gets one raffle ticket, six gets three, nine gets six, and you must be present to win. A second blade is in the works, and the makers may appear on a knife-forging TV show and on a future episode. The hosts also mention that John Oliva of J.C. Newman is stopping by the shop and is a listener who could become a guest.
The episode closes with a recap of DeLand's Bike Week/Bike Day, including the annual burning of the giant wooden motorcycle where attendees write messages to lost loved ones, a cigar roller downtown nobody recognized, live music at Da Vinci Gardens in the brewery district, observations on aging bikers in orthopedic sneakers, and a riff on marijuana legalization versus the continued shunning of cigars. They wrap with show-growth goals: roughly 1,400–1,500 followers and a push to grow the podcast's Instagram.

This is episode 60 of a Cigar Hustlers podcast, where we discuss it going down in the DM, knives, and what else do we discuss? A Michael Knight review? And how to properly say Zdunkovic? Shout out to my boy, It's Southern Gunner, for helping me pronounce it properly.
Okay, you hit the button and that means we're going. I'm not gonna say the thing I always say, 'cause you said I always say it, so... And here we are. And here we are, we're on!
Hi Michael. Hello Michael. So, what's going on with you in your life, my friend? We got a little weekly update?
We already have technical problems already. Technical problems. Son of a bitch. We're 10 seconds in.
It's this 1972 Apple computer I'm using. It's not 1972. It is. It's older than you are.
It's like 2004. Older than you are. Well, in the IT world, it's 1979. Okay, so are we still recording then?
No, it's still recording. I just have to follow it as it goes. It doesn't automatically scroll across. Do you have to follow it?
Well, I just want to see where it is. What difference does that make? See, if something bad happens, I know where we're at. Like, a catastrophe?
Like an earthquake or something? Oh, you never know. You never know with this show. The whole thing could fall apart.
Okay, so... Excuse me. What was that? I think I ate a frog.
This is such a fucking professional show. It's so ridiculous. It is. It's great.
It's a great show. So... Hey, we're going to get this out of the way. Last week, Mr.
Michael Knight Show. Yes. Very popular show. Really?
200 downloads in two days. That guy caught me off guard a couple times, man. He did. He did.
He did. He hit the gun control. I didn't know what he was saying half the time. " He was big on the guns this trip.
" Then he'd want to see it. " So yeah, he... And then I had it, and they picked him up at the airport. " "Yes!
I thought you couldn't have it at the airport. " I find it fascinating that you try and find strange men on Facebook. I mean, all over the world. It was the name, Michael Knight.
How can you pass up, Michael Knight? Send friend. Wave. You know who the young lady is that we're friends through, that I'm no longer friends with, but he still is.
His daughter's friend. That was the friend of my wife's that slept with our son. Ah, there the plot thickens. That's a whole full episode there if we talk about that.
And the fact of the matter is that I don't think that you give your son enough credit for that accomplishment. Well, except that the lady was married. I high-fived him, but I go... Casually high-fived him?
Casually high-fived him when his mother wasn't looking. Look, he's not married to anybody. He didn't fuck up. She did.
No, but the guy that she was married to, she's not married, obviously, anymore. I can only imagine why! Right, right. You know how you can swipe on a computer with your finger?
Yeah? He invented the swipe. He created the swipe. He invented the swipe.
So, he, you know, could have made my son's credit and all his financial information could disappear with a swipe, I would imagine. Yeah, but you know, she's got half his shit now, so... No, no, she had a prenup. She got a small amount of his shit?
She got just shit for a couple years and then no more shit. Oh. Yeah. Well, something that could have got to your son, that's all I'm saying.
He got a couple of nice gifts. Yeah? You know? Car?
I would aim right for a car. She had an Ashton Martin though. I'm like, you know, you know what would be great for you is a new Ashton Martin. I'll take that one.
Well, the guy she dated after him, which was either his age or younger, he blew the motor on the Ashton Martin. Oh. Revving it in a driveway to show off to his buddies. Did he learn, did he create swiping to the right or something?
The boyfriend? No. Yeah, the new guy. No, no, he, I think he invented, I can drive now, I'm 16.
Oh. Oh, okay. Oh, good. So, speaking of the last conversation, I think I misquoted Mr.
Wim Hof's method. Oh, so you don't sit in your underwear? Oh, is that the cold shower guy? It is a cold shower guy.
It's a cold shower guy. And I think I said Mim Hof out of my dyslexia. Oh, you said his name wrong? Yeah, it's Wim Hof.
And I realized it later. Nobody corrected me, because none of you motherfuckers are looking at this shit. But it's Wim Hof, goddammit. Shit, I get something wrong, everybody jumps on it.
Yeah. You get the whole fucking guy's name wrong. Oh, no, it's fine. It's Mikey.
I just took the W and I turned it around. Because, you know, getting cold is for winters. Okay. Well, I mean, I just want you to know, I'm up to three minutes in my cold plunge.
I was about to ask, are you still... Three minutes. Three minutes. So you're still doing it.
Sitting in the freezing cold. It's fucking cold. Let's see, I'm trying to think. Your average, let's just call it, lifespan for these little things you try is about three months, I believe.
So you think 90 days. I think 90 days. So what are you, uh, 30 days, not even 30 days. days and not even 30 days what what have I shit canned I mean other than like diet shit that's really that's what I mean the diet the diet like that shit's stupid well you always do it it took me a while to get to the fact that are you are you eating no I can't eat today look dieting is dumb between the times of three and 315 yeah that's no carbs okay so that was stupid I'll be I'll be happy to tell you I can't it's too early I can't eat yet what and you know and you know I lost some weight doing that but it's not a good long-term solution not a lifestyle it's no so now I'm So I'm nice and fat again.
Well, I'm just, you know. Actually, you've gotten quite big from your working out. Michael Knight mentioned that actually. Yeah, thanks.
He's quite big now, isn't he? He's lifting weights. He's lifting weights. He's lifting weights now.
It's a horrible English accent. It's Australian, I've been told. So yes, I am lifting weights now, yeah. And you know, like, now I eat appropriately.
Giant bites. I'm going to add, you about choked today when you were eating. Well, you know, with the fucking comedic relief that's in this goddamn bar. It's a goddamn bar, you know, at the shop, there's nothing, you guys make it hard, make it hard on me.
It almost killed me. Almost killed, you almost died then, almost choked on your, was it chicken or tuna? Today was tuna. The chicken came, it was further back, I didn't want to reach for it, so I just grabbed the tuna.
It is the chicken of the sea. Yes. So, three minutes, cold plunge, right, so I'm in the gym, the gym has a cold plunge. Does it really?
Like you see in the football guys, where they sit in the ice bath? No, it's like there's a hot tub, and then right next to you, there's a little square box of fucking polar fucking... Oh, that's right, because you go to RDV. Yeah, it's cold as fuck.
You go to the very... So... uppity, bougie... So anyways, anyways, Michael, just leave my gym out of this conversation.
Is there one of those giant Russian guys that beat you with the tree limb? No, but if that was there, I'd give that a shot, too. I'm sure you would. At least for 90 days.
90 Days of Habit is a dietary fuck-up thing that I've done. Come on. Come on, man. I'll stick with this.
So, do you do the hot tub first? No, I don't fuck with the hot tub. Do you jump on the hot tub after? No, no.
Oh, shit. " What's this guy? I'm like, dunk my-- just some dude that was, you know, in the cold plains. Some big dude or some old man?
He's probably about my age, you know, similar build, maybe a little bit bigger. " I go, "10 seconds? " All right. I like to think the rest of the day he's telling all his friends, "I made this dude stick his head under the ice for 10 seconds.
Oh, did you do it too? " He was in it. He was in the cold plunge. You guys ran it together?
Mm-hmm. How big is this box? It's like a hot tub size. Oh, you said it was a little box.
I pictured it smaller, like a bathtub. No, it's bigger than a bathtub. It's romantic. It's a little romantic.
What about all the shrieks, though? There's another guy in there, too. Three guys in the cold. It could probably hold about, I'd say, you're pushing your luck at like seven people, six, seven people, so we got space with three.
You're trying to keep warm at seven, you're cuddly. The other guy, the third guy in there, he was like, he's a little older guy, and he's kind of wrapped in a towel, like mind over matter type shit, like, you know, you believe it. Above the waterline? No, he was below the waterline.
Wrapped in a wet towel? Yeah, so the theory is that, you know. It's making him colder. I don't think it's making him colder.
So what is the temperature of this cold back? That's a great question. Oh, there's not a thermometer or just a non-heated? I'm sure there is.
I just haven't looked. No, it's not non-heated. It's fucking cold. It's made cold.
Yeah. How about that? Yeah. All right.
So, Winhoff. Winhoff. Because cold is for winners. Kudos to Mr.
Winhoff. Not Minhoff. That should be his slogan. " Yeah, he'd love that.
T-shirts and mugs. So, you know, I have a, my sister-in-law lives with us as of right now, right, she's 18 years old, she painted the front room that she lives in, right, and as she was painting the room, my wife goes to help her, and like, you know, we don't really have the right material for everything, so my dad had like this, it's like a, I don't know how to explain it, it's like a metal rectangle for like concrete and shit, for smoothing over concrete. Okay. I know what you're talking about.
" Do you know who Bob Ross is? Yeah, I don't know who's Bob Ross. The fucking afro guy with the little happy trees. Oh, okay.
Wow, he knew who Bob Ross was? Yeah, which was kind of my point, right? Right. So, for one, I didn't realize who Bob Ross was at the time, so I understand you're non-responsive.
I know who the happy tree guy is, though. That's him. Oh. So, you know, we all start fucking dying laughing.
But like... So don't I have to call her Bob Ross? I've been calling her Poopy Mommy for two hours. It's Mommy Fart Fart now.
So... I can't wait till tomorrow when she gets here. Oh, yeah. Mommy Fart Fart.
Yeah, Justice loves Fart Fart. So, um... But it's kind of remarkable, like, what type of access and information these kids have, even on YouTube Kids, you know? Right, the guy who...
Fucking Bob Ross. Well, at least it's not Momo. Yeah, that was a bullshit. That was a hoax.
It was, yeah. I read that. Complete hoax. But we were ready to fucking destroy everything.
I couldn't find Momo when I was trying, so I don't know how kids were accidentally coming across. Right. So, Bob Ross. Oh, how about that.
Do you want me to get to my DM? The story of the DM? The direct message? I don't know.
Well, wait. We both listen to podcasts. I listen to a lot of podcasts now. Right.
So what kind of... Are you listening to just the self-help type stuff? Personal development? Personal development.
Yeah, I have. As normal people call it self-help. I would say that uneducated people call it self-help. Oh, look at you.
Motherfuckers are trying to tear that shit down. Colts for winners. You know, the slapdicks that fucking just check out and watch TV all their entire lives. And don't try and get better at anything.
They'll call it self-help. Very angry, very angry. Well, I like the celebrity stuff. Don't try to attack my shit.
I like the celebrity stuff. Every celebrity is doing a podcast nowadays. Oh, yeah? Because it's an easy way to make money.
Okay, so... They get advertisers. I feel like you've got something to say, so... No, we were just talking about podcasts, because I've tried to listen to other cigar podcasts.
Yeah. They all suck. A lot of them are pretty fucking bad. A lot of them are pretty bad.
I don't know how they get more ratings than us. Who's very biomers from here? The cigar you're smoking, so does it taste like apricots and hickory, or...? Well, I'm smoking a Highclere Castle, so it smells, it tastes like fucking, I don't know, fairy dust and magic.
The King's Sweat in the Queen's... Yeah, it tastes like royalty. Great Britain. Tastes like royalty.
Anyway, the ones I like. There's a new one, Conan. Conan O'Brien does one. Okay.
That's a real good one. That guy, he never really got a fair shake. You know, I don't like the TV show, but I like the podcast. Because he's a funny guy.
" And I could understand that. Right, but it's all the behind-the-scenes things that you don't get from the show. Oh. So, he's got people in there that are obviously his friends, and it's just, basically, it's like, alright, they're just sitting there shooting their shit for an hour and a half.
Right. But it's just... So you like that. I like the dentistry.
Dax Shepard does, like, five different podcasts. You know who Dax Shepard is? The actor? No.
He's married to Kristen Bell, blonde. You're not helping me. I don't know who he is either. Wait, I think I know.
I think I know. And they have kids, and they don't want their kids being taking pictures of them and shit. They got upset about it. Probably, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, and he changed his own oil one day. I saw that. But he's a motorcycle guy. He's not taking this Mercedes in.
Yeah, that's him. Yeah. Oh, he does like three or four of them. Yeah.
It's just ridiculous. A lot of downtime. Evidently, yeah. Well, he's got a new TV show, so maybe they'll stop.
Huh. But he does a live podcast where he sells tickets people pay to come watch them do the podcast. That's pretty cool. Something more important on your watch?
Is that your, you yell at me if you look at my phone all the time? You looked at your watch three times. We've been on for 13 minutes. One second I looked at it, but I can manage that.
Is it time to breathe? So we should do a live one and sell tickets. And what, are you going to cram in this fucking office? Right.
No, we should do it out there during your event on the 29th. That sounds like a fucking train wreck. Why? Because I'm busy during the fucking event.
Oh, that's right, I forgot why. We had that conversation. I forgot why it wasn't a thing. You know?
Yeah. So, um, that's your podcast now? No, no, I also like the Inside of You with, uh, Likes Luther, I don't remember that guy's name. Oh, yeah, that was pretty good.
You like that one. Yeah. Except he has weird friends that do his, and he likes to find out what their other personal problems and everything was. Well, yeah, we listened to Macaulay Culkin at Time in the Car.
Yeah, that was great. His aren't too bad. I respect that. Those are my three favorites.
That guy probably knows about Michael Jackson. Why doesn't he ever fucking come out and talk about him? Oh, Macaulay Culkin? Yeah.
I think he did. Coughin. Yeah, Coughin. He's got coffee.
He coughs. He even had coffee. Hmm. Macaulay Culkin.
You know what the most popular type of podcast is? Joe Rogan. No, not the person type. Yeah, yeah, anything Joe Rogan?
No, true crime. Really? And I hate those, I've tried listening to those, I can't get through them. It's like the CBS show, The Catch a Thief or something, you know, they go through the entire crime, at the end they tell you who did it.
Yeah, it's with those, it's just driving me crazy. Yeah, fuck all that. Doesn't play well in podcasts. I like your feather pen, it's very nice.
It doesn't work. Looks very bougie. It's broken. Very bougie.
I don't know how I'm going to mark this stuff off, because I had a pen, and now I don't have one. Uh-oh. Use your finger. It doesn't matter.
The show must go on, unfortunately. The show must go on. So what's your DM? What else?
And then I have something to expand on. My content's way better than yours. No, it's not. Podcasting was very topical because we're a podcast show.
Let me tell you about the DM. A direct message? It goes down in the DM. You got a direct message?
I did. I got a DM. Is it for Michael Jackson? No.
Skip Martin. He's dead. My friend Skip Martin? No.
So, job well done. Frenchie? Nope. Nope.
So, I just gotta read this to you. Okay. Okay, so this is what it says. "Mike, my mother's maiden name is Adunkevich.
I'm a Cigar Hustler Podcast subscriber, broad-shouldered and pasty white. We're practically family. " Matt. How would you respond to something like that?
Dude, is this someone we know? No. So this is just a listener out of the blue who sent you a direct message? Yeah.
Well, see, now he's gone into a lot of trouble to find you on Instagram. Uh-huh. All right. So how do I respond?
What would you do? How would you respond to this guy? Because I just want to know after this podcast, the DMs are going up. It's going to happen.
Well, see, as you said, now everybody's going to be... It doesn't matter, it's too late. It's too late. The first guy fucking set the trend.
Well, I know, so now if you do it, you got to do it to everybody. No, that's not true. I would send him a magnet and a sticker. I'm sending this guy a fucking Voitex.
Yeah, I know you will. Of course I'm gonna send it to him, are you kidding me? So I asked him his address, his Instagram name is W-H-L-R-A-T-X, Mr. Matt.
Doesn't even ring a bell at all. Matt Wheeler. And we're gonna hook him up with a Voitex and some other goodies. So, you know, I guess my point is a closed mouth don't get fed, you know?
Oh, so everybody, everybody, DM Michael and ask him for free shit. You can DM me all you want now. It's too late. It's too late.
There's no going back. What was his name again? W-H-L-R-A-T-X. R-A-T-X.
Matt Wheeler here is. Yes, he follows the show. There you go. So, good job, Matt.
Mission accomplished. Good job, Matt. Oh, you know what? Maybe it's related to you.
Look. Look, all pictures of his hand in a cigar, just like you. Oh, that's, that's the, but he, but he must be a, a lefty. No, he's holding it in the right, take a picture with the left.
Yeah, but I always take a picture with my right. Oh, well, you're a left-handed smoker. Oh, I see, so he writes left-handed because he's a right-handed smoker. Right.
Unless it's just how he holds the smoke. I always like it when you kind of draw your own conclusions. You work out the problem yourself, you start talking about it, and you kind of figure it out. That's, that's always good for you.
So. About every single picture is his hand with a cigar. That's awesome. That's really cool.
Oh, there's one with booze. Oh, here's what he looks like. Here's what he looks like. Finally, his face.
I don't know, it's a picture of 72 different people. He's in the crowd somewhere. I like to think he's this blonde with the glasses on the left-hand side. Yes.
Or the blonde on the other side with the ski cap. Right. Oh, very nice. Well, Matt, thank you for listening.
Yeah. We always appreciate our listeners. So there you go. Appreciate the reach out, brother.
There you go. That sounded a little off, but, you know, either way. Oh, he's got a website. You got a Voidtech coming, bro.
Pre-release, Voidtech. You know what, we'll throw a sticker and a magnet in, too. Mm-hmm. Abso-fucking-lutely.
He makes music. So, okay, now I lost you to the fucking Instagram. You just needed a reason to pick up the phone. " So, um...
Alright, did you see the post about my wife this week? What she did? Yeah. She, from time to time, she has to tutor, well, she doesn't have to, she volunteers to tutor, kids have been kicked out of school.
Right. So she is, I can't say who she's tutoring, because there's certain things. Matt Wheeler. Matt Wheeler.
That's what they're talking about. But the young lady that she helped wasn't even the kid she was tutoring. That was the kid's girlfriend. Oh.
She drove him there because he's not allowed to drive. Really? Right. So she met this young lady who was living with her, I probably shouldn't get into that much detail either, But she's living with somebody who doesn't financially support her, just gives her place to stay.
I love it when you cross the line. Just go right ahead. I can't cross the line. I'll get my wife in trouble, and then this whole show ends.
But the young lady wasn't receiving any services from the county, and she was homeless. So in a 24-hour period, my wife got on the phone the next day and called somebody who called somebody who knew somebody. Boom. Boom.
Girl got to school the next morning. " She got to the office. They're like, "Okay, now you have lunch, and breakfast paid for, and you have health insurance, insurance, and graduation assistants. There you go.
That's right. Your wife is a saint. She is. She's like a superhero.
Which is nice. She's got spring break next week. I'm going to try to get her in here. Yeah.
Do the show. That'll be interesting. It would be. That'll be funny as hell.
It's going to be the fastest podcast. All right, turn it off. Turn it off. Another Iowa gym.
I'm going to fucking ask questions, and you're going to be like, stop. Stop right now. What are you going to ask her? I can't tell you.
Nothing dirty, Michael. Oh, it won't be anything dirty. All right. Just enough to make her uncomfortable and angry.
Oh, that's hard to do at all. Matter of fact, that's probably going on right now because she's at home and I'm here. Excellent. Okay, right now is where we would take a break.
We have an advertiser. We have an advertiser. Oh, my God. You really keep working that in.
So ridiculous. I'm working that in. We need advertisers. So we'll be right back.
We don't need advertisers. After a message from the sponsors. Shh, gotta stop for just a second. Shh, gotta stop for just a second.
I don't care. No. Okay, and we're back. All right, Mike, so where were we at?
You were going to bring up something next? You're so ridiculous, you know? No, if they hear we have a place for them, they will start, they will come. That's not true.
That's the way it works. I've been doing research. It's the way it works. That's the way it works.
We're going to blank spaces. So, I mean, you're really trying hard for the advertisers. There is. I really want to ask.
Look, just be like me. Just be comfortable not making enough money to pay your bills. I'm already at that point in my life. Come on!
You just got to accept it for what it is. Six months of my cigar business put me in a big hole. That's nice. Driving around, crashing it.
I bought a whole fuckin' car! You did. You did buy a whole fuckin' car. You know what though, with the gas miles the car gets, I can guess once a month now, 'cause I'm only driving back and forth here to my house.
That's it. Might be once every two months at this point. Might be, might be. So...
Take another DM? No. Have they started coming in? Probably already coming in.
He's like, hey, so what's it going to take? What's it going to take? So we got a knife. Oh, that's right, yeah, the big presentation.
So, black hogs, knives, put the phone down. No, I'm checking my notes, I got other things to talk about. So black hog knives, black hogs, black hogs? Black hogs.
Black hogs. So there's more than one hog, and they're black. Hmm, maybe it's black hog, I don't know now. I think it is black hogs.
I think it's more than one. Well, there are two guys. We should get them in. So this guy's pretty, he's pretty fucking talented.
Yeah. And he made a badass. It is a very cool knife. He brought it in this morning.
And we put a little pee on it. It's on display here at Cigar Hustler at 629 Daytona Boulevard. Yeah. 629.
829? 829. Well, at 629 you'll be at Circle K next time. Give me directions.
Yeah, there's a knife. So I posted it. We'll have to post it up on the Cigar Hustlers podcast as well. What, what do you mean?
Why are you shaking your head no? So we can show it off. Would Cigar Hustlers like to advertise on the Cigar Hustlers podcast? No.
The Cigar Hustlers did advertise. The Cigar Hustlers bought all this bullshit. That's true. So, um, yeah.
So, anyways. Knife. Badass. It's like a Damascus blade.
I've been telling everybody it's Valerian Steel. Valerian Steel. It's Valerian Steel. We'll kill the White Walkers.
No. Well, Valerian Steel does do that, right? Yes. That and Dragonglass.
One or the other. " I said, "It's both. " Hybrid of the two. But it's pretty badass.
So how can you win this Valerian Steel Black Hog knife? Well, for this one, we're gonna do like a little in-store event. We're gonna do a cigar event in the store, March 29th. Aren't all the cigar events in the store?
Yes, but... Okay, you got me there. So, um... But my point is, he's also working on a second blade.
No, a second blade, you say? Yes, another blade. There is enough Valerian steel to make two blades in Deltona? Yes, what he did was he actually killed Ned Stark, and then he took the blade and he split it up.
Oh, I like Ned Stark. Yeah, so once that sword was gone, it was then remade into... Wait, what is the Jon Snow's sword? That's Valerian steel.
Yeah. So that's not his father's sword? No. I thought it was with a new hilt put on it.
No, long claw? No, that was given to him from the guy from the Night's Watchmen. Goddammit, Mike. Learn your Game of Thrones.
You're a fucking mess. But anyways, so yeah, we're going to give the first one away in the store. I'm really excited about that. We should definitely have him come on the podcast.
He's going to be on some show that, I don't know, it's a knife show. Oh, I've seen some of those. Where they give you a challenge and then you have to build the knife and then they grade it on cutting and stabbing and how fast you can do it and everything. Yeah, it's like, I don't know what it's called.
Have you already filmed it? I think so. I think so. We should find out when that is.
Yeah, well, he's going to come in for that. He's going to have some buddies up here and hang out and kind of do a little thing here for that. Oh, when they show the show? Yeah.
Oh. Did we get that channel, or did I ruin that before, too? You might have fucked that up. We'll have to get it for that day, I guess.
Oh. But we need to get him in for the show before the event. Yes. Okay.
Yes. So we'll work on that for next week. We'll have him come in. I am going to be gone this weekend.
So I'll be gone Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. And Monday? Yeah, and Monday. I come back either Monday or Tuesday.
Oh, good. No pressure. So we've got to do, for next week's show, we've got to do it this week. Okay.
We have John Oliva coming in tomorrow. We can sit here and watch him not talk. Let's see if we can get stuff in. John Oliva is a nice man.
He is a very nice man. He's become my very good friend. And he's a podcast listener. Yes, he is.
He is a listener. I was going to say he was a guest. He is a listener. He could be a guest.
He could be a guest. If you're here tomorrow when he gets here, he's gonna be here after lunch, 'cause I told him, you'd never show up before noon. Okay, so maybe we'll get him on. All right.
C. Newman. Exactly. So, the blade's really nice.
Yes. So how do you win this blade? Uh, you just gotta come in here and make purchases and stuff. And then you hand it to me when I buy cigars?
No. I'm trying to lead you into the exact way. I know, I don't wanna talk about it. Well, then why the hell did you bring the damn thing up?
'Cause I'm excited about the knife. Well, then, you gotta tell people how you can win it. You buy three cigars, you get one raffle ticket. You buy six cigars, you get three raffle tickets.
You buy nine cigars, you get six raffle tickets. Right. And then, the day of the event, they will raffle it off, and you must be, do you have to be present to win? You must be present to win.
And during the event, you may have the option to purchase extra raffle tickets without buying cigars. Is that true? I mean, all that was fine. I don't even know why you try and fucking set me up.
I was trying to let you do it, it's your thing! But you're amazing. It's your thing. No, that's what you always tell me.
You're like a butterfly. You always tell me I like a butterfly. Flat my wings and across the globe. You were a caterpillar and now look at those wings.
Look at you just fly. So amazing. So annoying. So annoying.
So annoying. Okay, I'm going to check my list. What else are I going to talk about? Oh, I went to the Bike Week thing in DeLand.
Yeah. Well, in DeLand it's Bike Day. Yeah. Because the entire city shuts down at 6 o'clock.
I'm going to that... Oh yeah, you got to plug that. The motorcycle, the burning of the motorcycle on Friday. The burning of the giant, is it 20 or 44?
I've been telling everybody 40. It looks big. Big. They make a big wooden motorcycle.
You can write messages on it to loved ones that have passed on. Then they light the whole damn thing on fire. That's pretty cool. Yeah, it's the third or fourth year they've done it.
Looks like a huge turnout. Yeah, kind of a big deal. So I'm going to go out there and that should be fun. There was a guy selling cigars downtown the land.
Well he was rolling cigars. Yeah. And uh, so, I mean, you guys could have done that. Could have done that too.
I don't know how to roll cigars yet. No, you don't roll them. I don't roll them. Just sell them.
All right. Because he was only selling the ones he rolled. And I had no idea who he was. Huh.
How does that happen? Go figure. Go figure. I had a couple other guys from the club with me.
" There are people in this world. Does he not know who we are? I have not. You know what it is?
You obviously never sent him a Facebook friend request. He obviously wasn't attractive enough for you to reach out. Must be. Didn't have an unusual name or anything.
He was no use to me at all. He was no use to me at all. His name was Slapdick Sally, and he rolled cigars. They were selling, so.
So there you go. " Yes. Dude, it's not that big a deal. They're all hand-rolled.
They are? Unless you buy a machine rolled. Get the fuck out of here. They're all, what, Heco Amano, or whatever it says on it.
Heco Amano? Heco Amano. Hecho? That's what I said, Heco.
Heco. I'm a white, middle-aged man. It's Heco. And it's Echo.
That speaks Australian. That speaks Australian, exactly. Look at Australian. All my accents are Chinese.
Chinese-Australian. Chinese-Australian. But I was probably the youngest person at the Bike Week thing. Yeah?
Other than my wife. Yes, it seems like it's the same people that have been coming for the last 20 years. Nobody knew. So it's like, if you're not in your 60s, retired and somewhat successful, you're not going on to...
Evidently. I like how you can tell the real serious bikers, 'cause they have, you know, all the bikers... Because they haven't bathed in a few weeks? Well, they haven't bathed.
They have the long hair. They got their hair tied in that thing. Right. And, you know, the dirty jeans and everything.
But they don't wear boots. It's orthopedic sneakers. They have their wrap sheet on file and in their back pockets? I like the orthopedic sneakers.
I just want to make out the outfit. No boots. No boots anymore, because their feet hurt, because they've been doing it for so long. But we went to Da Vinci Gardens.
You don't get out much. You don't know this. So anyway, it's this real nice outdoor bar down in the brewery district in downtown The Land. And so we're sitting there and the band came out, Crash, Crash Sprocket or Crash Rocket or something, I don't know, they weren't a bad band, but my wife gets up so she's dancing and she's dancing with this 83-year-old woman.
Yeah. It was just nice, like she's dancing with her grandma, the old lady was having a blast, God bless her. Broke her hip and everything. No, she didn't break her hip.
But she did have one orthopedic sock on. Just the one. Just the one. The right foot was the worst.
Were there a lot of compression socks out there at the time? I can't tell, because he had the orthopedic sneakers. How's the diabetes? The diabetes?
A lot of people were bloated? A lot of pot smoking, you can smell it. Yeah. Security guard looked like Drew, our friend Drew Carpenter.
He was walking around telling everybody to put their pot away. Put that down! Put that down! What are you doing?
It's about to pass your buds for medicinal. Yeah, I didn't understand you couldn't, it's only edibles and stuff, I didn't understand that. Yeah, but because we were joking. Well, somebody over there probably has a card or something.
Like, no, it doesn't work. Yeah, but legislation, you know, is about to pass for that. So sooner or later, you know, pot will be fine and cigars will continue to be shunned in all of the world. Why is that going down so far?
What's going on here? I'm trying to catch up, trying to catch up on the screen. All right. Well, do you have anything else to report, sir?
Let's see. Oh, my God. Oh, our downloads were up 35% last week with Mr. Michael Knight's spike there.
And we're still in the 1,400 to 1,500 follower range. Nice. It takes a lot to go from 1,400 to 1,500. Let's go.
You know what? We need more Instagram followers for our Cigar Houses Podcast Instagram. Yeah? We only have like 400 or something.
Okay. The hot ticket guys are like at 8,000. Well, we will work on that. I will show you what we need to do, and we will work on that.
Okay, I'm going to make that your job. I'm going to write down next here, Instagram followers, Michael. Go ahead, write it down. The numbers are going to be the same.
The numbers are going to be the same? I have to do that, too? Yes. Oh, my lord.
Yes, you do. There's so many hats with this job and so little pay. It doesn't pay at all. That's what I mean.
It's so little it's nonexistent. Welcome to my world. All right, so... Oh, please.
I've been hanging around here for four years. I'm used to the not-pay thing. Exactly. You got a key, though.
For fuck's sake. Well, that's just it. My responsibilities go up and the pay stays the same. If we could have gotten Michael Knight for another fucking cup of coffee, we might have been able to pay you.
But we only got him for the one. That was funny how he came up with the meeting today. He was so angry. He was so angry.
Fulber's British friend was very angry about the coffee. About the coffee. Alright, we're at 32 minutes. Perfect.
Perfect. Because we have to do another one this week. We do. Because you're going to go out gallivanting.
I'll be in Miami if anybody wants to look for me when I'm down there. Yeah? Yeah, I'm going to Miami for the weekend. It's my wife's spring break.
That's nice. You should do a post on the Cigar Hustlers podcast that you are in the specific area and then give something away. Somebody meet you. I can't go to cigar places on my wife's spring break.
She gets mad. This is all her fault anyways. It is all her fault, exactly. " It's your idea!
So... Alright, buddy, thanks for listening. Another great show about absolutely nothing at all. I love these shows.
I do, too, and everybody likes them. It's like hanging out with us. Nice little ketchup. It's hot.
Is it hot in here to you? It's not. You're just about to have a stroke. Get a stroke out right here.
Do you smell plastic? Yeah, he's gone. This will be the last podcast of Mike Palmer. I have a taste of copper in my mouth.
Is that normal? It's so weird. It's so weird. I haven't even touched a penny.
