Padrón Cigars, founded by José Orlando Padrón in 1964, is one of the most decorated names in premium cigars. The Padrón Series — the original "Thousand Series" — is the family's everyday line of medium- to full-bodied, long-filler Nicaraguan cigars built on sun-grown tobaccos aged a minimum of two and a half years. The 5000 is the thickest-gauge format in the series and has earned a 91 rating from Cigar Aficionado.
A dark Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, making this a true Nicaraguan puro. The sun-grown Cuban-seed tobaccos are aged a minimum of two and a half years and hand-rolled as a long-filler Robusto (5 1/2 x 56) — one of the thickest ring gauges the Padrón family makes. Box count: 26 cigars.
Opens with cocoa and bold roasted coffee, widening into dark chocolate, leather, earth and a peppery core. Baking spice, nuttiness and a lingering maduro sweetness build through the middle, finishing on mocha, black coffee and spice. The wide ring gauge keeps the smoke cool and voluminous throughout.
