Tabak Negra Corona (4 3/4 x 46) Cigar

Tabak Especial traces back to the early 2000s, when Drew Estate and Kahlua produced the groundbreaking coffee-infused Kahlua Cigars Delicioso; when Kahlua pivoted away from the brand in 2008, Drew Estate re-tooled it and introduced the Tabak Especial name it carries today. Jonathan Drew spent more than five years perfecting the nuances learned from that project, and the brandmark has been built ever since on the marriage of ultra-rich Nicaraguan tobacco and Nicaraguan estate-grown coffee. The line comes in two styles — the Connecticut-wrapped Dulce and the heartier maduro Negra, of which this Corona is a part.

A dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers, with the filler tobaccos slowly infused with fair-trade Nicaraguan estate-grown coffee from the Jinotega and Matagalpa mountains. Handmade in Nicaragua at Drew Estate's La Gran Fabrica in Esteli and finished with a sweetened cap. Corona format, 4 3/4 x 46. Box count: 24 cigars.

The Negra leads with sweet espresso and dark-roast coffee carried by dark chocolate and cocoa, closing on a creamy sweetness. The maduro Broadleaf wrapper brings more body and natural sweetness than the Connecticut-wrapped Dulce, and the short Corona concentrates that dark-roast intensity into a flavor-packed smoke. Thick, sweet smoke throughout, with the premium long-filler tobacco still showing underneath the infusion.
