United Cigars is a boutique brand and distributor whose Firecracker Series traces back to 2007, when Two Guys Smoke Shop owner David Garofalo commissioned a short, powerful cigar for the Fourth of July; the series is now distributed nationwide by United and has been made by manufacturers ranging from My Father and Tatuaje to RoMa Craft Tobac. The Bandolero Firecracker is United's 2022 limited edition collaboration with Nelson Alfonso's Selected Tobacco S.A., the house behind Bandolero, and it was reissued in 2023 and again in 2026. Rolled at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory, the original release finished No. 20 on halfwheel's Top 25 of 2022.
A hybrid of two Bandolero lines: the dark Ecuadorian Habano Maduro wrapper and Ecuadorian binder are taken from the Aventureros (Serie A) line, while the filler of Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian leaf comes from the Clandestino (Serie C) line. As with the rest of the Bandolero range, the tobaccos were aged about five years before rolling and the finished cigars rested two more years, presented in the Short Robusto (3½×50) format with the signature fuse-like pigtail tucked into the band. Rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica. Box count: 20 cigars.
The Bandolero Firecracker layers earth, black pepper and chocolate through most of its length, with cocoa powder emerging when smoked slowly and a guava-like sweetness and red chili spice arriving in the final third. Cedar, hay and natural tobacco round out the profile, and reviewers place it near medium in strength with medium to medium-full flavor and body — Firecracker intensity without the nicotine punch. Its slow burn stretches the short format toward a full hour.
Best enjoyed a bit later in the day and with some food already in your system, where its balance of strength and flavor is most pleasing. The compact size and roughly hour-long burn make it a natural after-dinner or holiday-weekend smoke.
