Padrón Cigars, founded by José Orlando Padrón in 1964, is one of the most decorated names in premium cigars. The Padrón Series — the original "Thousand Series" — is the family's everyday line, an all-Nicaraguan blend of sun-grown tobaccos cultivated by the Padrón family and aged a minimum of two and a half years. The 4000 is one of the line's largest and most popular formats, delivering the house character that made the Padrón name at an exceptional value.
A sun-grown Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, making this a true Nicaraguan puro. The Cuban-seed tobaccos are aged a minimum of two and a half years and rolled as a long-filler Toro (6½×54), packed in lacquered boxes of 26.
The Maduro wrapper leads with rich dark cocoa and espresso, over an earthy core with cedar, leather and a touch of black pepper. A natural sweetness runs underneath and keeps the medium-to-full body balanced from light to nub.
Pairs naturally with black coffee or espresso, an aged rum, or a roasty porter or stout that mirrors the wrapper's dark chocolate sweetness.
At roughly 80 to 90 minutes, this is an unhurried smoke best saved for an evening on the porch or a long after-dinner sit rather than a quick break.
