Padrón Cigars, founded by José Orlando Padrón in 1964, is one of the most decorated names in premium cigars. The Padrón Series — the original "Thousand Series" — is the family's everyday line of medium- to full-bodied, long-filler Nicaraguan puros made entirely from sun-grown tobacco and aged a minimum of two and a half years. The 7000 is the line's big 60-ring format, and it has been rated repeatedly by Cigar Aficionado, including a 93 in October 2012.
A sun-grown Nicaraguan Habano wrapper in its natural shade over Nicaraguan binder and filler, making this a true Nicaraguan puro. The long-filler tobaccos are aged a minimum of two and a half years and rolled in the big 6 1/4 x 60 Gordo format, presented in boxes of 26.
Cigar Aficionado's 93-point review described a deep graham-cracker character backed by savory leather and a cocoa-powder finish. Reviewer and retailer notes for this cigar add cedar, almond, earth and black pepper, with cocoa and coffee carrying through the long burn.
